Continuing on my experience with Resident Alien, boy do I have some mixed feelings about the Hawthornes.
Safety concerns aside, I love seeing them reconnect with kinky sex. But since the major problems in their marriage stem from poor communication, I had initially thought this was meant to be a comedic shorthand for them learning to talk to each other. Seeing this not be the case as I work my way through season two is disappointing.
And while I know it's part of the joke, I really like that Kate, the assertive and kinda controlling partner, is the sub and Ben, the man who unironically wanted to hang up a "live, laugh, love" poster in his house, is the dom. I always appreciate sexual dynamics that don't take over the entire relationship.
Their pregnancy arc has me worried because in separate scenes both Ben and Kate have said they don't want another kid. And, if their story is about communication, there's a great resolution where they have a real discussion and choose not to have a baby. But American television being what it is, I expect it will be having the kid that fixes their marriage and ugh. Nope. Doesn't work that way.
(So much American television is pro-natal propaganda. Please let some characters not want kids and also not have them.)

BTS FX shot from Resident Alien season 3 showing how they have stand-ins for the grey aliens who they edit out and then put in the cgi for the greys and general background.
Chris Sheridan and Robert Duncan McNeill also said they didn't just come up with the look of the avian aliens on their own. Instead, they based it on people's claims of their own encounters.
BTW, for those new to the series, the UFO seen in season 2 was based on the founder of Dark Horse Comics own experiences.

Katherine: Do your own project.
Max: You know there is a website where you can rate teachers, right?
Katherine: Do your worst. I already have the worst rating there.
You know, a season ago I would comment on the fact that Katherine is considered the worst teacher in Max's school, but they really toned down her shrewish tendencies in S3.
Like, in S1 she was condescending towards her husband and son. In S2 she got some nuance, but still, she was coming off as a jerk towards Ben. Like, this whole thing with the park and how she assumed, right from the get-go, that her husband will do as she says.
And now her subplot probably is the most heartbreaking, because she misses a child she doesn't even remember, and the condenscention she displayed towards Ben is gone.

D’arcy is a ride or die! She is that bitch, I love her!! Honestly all the women in this show are that bitch. Liv, she’s so smart and fucking hilarious. Asta is a badass, and so strong. Kate runs this MF, when she ate up the mayor of the other town for being an asshole, I cackled!!!!

I'm confused why Ben is so lame and has all these rules he follows just to make Kate happy? You should never change yourself or hide your true self for another. If he doesn't feel comfortable being himself with his wife he should probably get a divorce! I hope him and D'arcy can make each other more whole.

concept: resident alien but ben and kate aren't married
Everything is the same, but Ben and Kate are divorced, and working together to be semi-functional co-parents for Max.
PROS:
-the scene where they beat up the bad guys can still happen, it would just occur when one of them is dropping off max at the other's place
-the d'arcy/ben subplot is less gross
-max gets parents that give him at least slightly more atttention
-we don't have to learn about ben and kate's sex lives
CONS
-literally none

New Release: Dual Defiance, by @KateWritesWords
A hero turned villain… Alistair Sharp’s life is spiraling out of control. His ex-wife is on a rampage, systematically trying to take out the people close to him one by one. Thankfully, the people close to him are smarter than her, faster than her, and always a step ahead. His inability to wrap up one pencil skirt wearing loose end is forcing him to question his career path. An unsuspecting…

I know that we are supposed to cheer on the resort not getting built in Patience but I feel some kind of satisfaction seeing Ben refusing Kate.
Because, like, she was always kinda condescending towards him, his interest and ambitions (vide, they way she treats his candle making hobby). Only recently she got more supportive of him and his idea on how to improve Patience and suddenly, after one night she’s like: “Oh honey, I don’t think the resort is such a good idea. Let’s not do it, okay? I know that I’ve told you that you should be more decisive but come on, do it as I say.”
There is some satisfaction in her saying: “Well, I’ve changed my mind.”, and him replying: “Well, I didn’t change mine.”
