Hello I'm new here. Just wanted to ask cause I'm a bit confused. What is a "High Jewelry Tiara" and how does it differ from a 'normal tiara?🤔

Oh, that's what I call the series I do of tiaras that are made by jewelers for their high jewelry collections because I'm very creative. It's basically just a modern tiara that was not made for a specific person and that anyone could buy if they were like a billionaire or something.

High jewelry is the jewelry equivalent of haute couture so each piece is made by hand using really high quality materials and is usually one of a kind. You'll also see it called haute joaillerie or occasionally alta gioielleria. I don't know why it gets translated but haute couture does not. For the big jewelry houses like Boucheron and Chaumet, the release of their high jewelry collections often coincides with when fashion houses release their haute couture collections. I kind of fudge the definition a bit with the inclusion of tiaras made with less precious materials like those by Axenoff and Maria Nilsdotter but I want to feature them so I do.

You can see all of the High Jewelry Tiaras series so far here and there are still a bunch that I haven't made posts for yet. Unlike with clothing, jewelry houses don't release their full collection publicly which annoys me. There will be a set group that's in all of the magazines and on social media but the full collection can only be seen by a select few. Sometimes I think that's changing and then I'll stumble across a Cartier tiara that wasn't included in the promo materials for a new collection and I get frustrated all over again.

AZEALIA BANKS - MISS CAMARADERIE BON VIVANT REMIX (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Inspired by a personal experience of sexual exploitation, Miss Camaraderie is a testament to claimed and earned space. Marrying what was once moving, now cast in stillness via George Segal’s 1987 Abraham’s Farewell to Ishmael, and what once was posed, brought to life in motion– the essence of choreographed vogueing– it is a  tableau vivant wrought with emotion, power, and reclamation. Filmed at the Perez Art Museum of Miami, alongside Segal’s sculptural testament to biblical conflict, Banks takes on the moving form of Hagar, the mistress of patriarch Abraham, who was expelled in service of the legitimacy of Isaac’s birthright in place of her own son, Ishmael. Hagar is the original scapegoat, and mirror of all societal mistreatment of female sexual willpower and self-determination.

ESCUELA GRIND TO RELEASE  NEW LP 'DREAMS ON ALGORITHMS'

New England extreme metal powerhouse, Escuela Grind, will release its new LP, ' Dreams on Algorithms,' on October 18 via MNRK Heavy (High on Fire, Zakk Wylde). Recorded at Salem, Massachusetts' GodCity studio with producer Kurt Ballou, and mastered by Nick Townsend (Dr. Dre, Betty Davis) the record is the highly anticipated follow-up to Escuela Grind's celebrated 2022 full-length debut, 'Memory Theater', a recording hailed as "an opus of extremity" by The New York Times.

"It will be immediately obvious when you first hear this song that it is a departure for us," offers vocalist Katerina Economou. "We wanted to take a risk with "Turbulence", and after performing so many live shows over the last year we were ready to compile all that influence. The clean singing may take some people off-guard coming from a grind/hardcore band, but after touring with Napalm Death, we realized we wanted to incorporate that aspect into our music in a similar way. We definitely wanted a grungy, catchy chorus to sing at all of our upcoming festival appearances, and I hope the fans like the song as much as we do"

A Parrot for Flaubert neckpiece

  "A parrot for Flaubert neckpiece" is a necklace made in 2012, designed and made by Kevin Coats, now it is placed in the jewelry room in the V&A museum. To make a tribute to the parrot named Loulou in “A Simple Heart,” designer Kevin Coates made this necklace. About how the necklace is made and the material, there are four drops of jewelry made of carnelian, emerald, amethyst, and citrine. The necklace part is assembled by vivid rainbow color gemstones.

   Moreover, parrot Loulou’s body is made of gold and painted silver, the parrot's eye is made by cabochon sapphire, the beak is made by carved black mother-of-pearl, the luminous abstract left-wing is a piece of ancient iridescent glass, the background is an old page from “A Simple Heart”. The necklace part is arranged by rainbow gemstones with four jewel drops, the parrot right-wing is painted of the gradation of the rainbow necklace. A Parrot for Flaubert neckpiece is not a necklace for wearing, it more tends to be like a collection. Additionally, this necklace is for Kevin Coates’ “A bestiary of jewel” series instead of sell, every people had ever read the short novel "A simple heart" will know who the parrot is, this is an advertisement. As it is an artifact rather than a product on the assembly line, it does not change market dynamics.

  The inspiration for this necklace is from Parrot Loulou in a novel written by Gustave Flaubert called” A simple heart”. Parrot Loulou is a symbol of the main character Félicité ’s sincere and odd religion to her Catholic faith. After Madame Aubain, a rich woman in this novel inherited the parrot from her dead friend, she found this parrot was annoyed, so she gave the parrot to Félicité. Because of her generous humble personality of Christian traits, Félicité treated the parrot nicely when she looked after it. After the parrot died, she stuffed Loulou and prayed to it every morning as Christians prayed to white pigeons. Furthermore, this fragment also is an irony for the French bourgeoisie’s fake faith from author Flaubert. The French bourgeoisie claimed they are Christians, but they did not have great personalities.

  V&A museum opened in 185, it collected various uncountable collections in unique designs and from different ages. Design is a vital discipline for those collections; thus, every collection has a unique meaning and different looking. And design gave them uniqueness.

  The parrot necklace is placed next to an exaggerated style necklace with bird egg size glass. They are placed in an area for jewels and necklaces. The introduction text of the parrot necklace tells visitors who designed and made the necklace, and where the inspiration is from. Due to it being a modern artifact, it includes very less historical messages, but it connects to a novel in a previous period. Designer Kevin Coates turns his imagination into reality, he makes an amazing-looking jewel necklace and puts an animal bestiary story in his design.
