We’re going to pretend that there is no real language barrier for most of them.  This is in part because I forgot about it lol

Takekura “Musashi” Gen

Doesn’t actually think too much about the fact that you’re foreign.  You’re you, and that’s all he cares about.

He’s a good listener, so he’ll gladly hear you talk about your home.  He’s only been to America once, and it was pure chaos, so it’s nice to hear about the normal things

The best boyfriend to have if you make mistakes with regards to social/cultural norms in Japan without knowing it.  Never makes a big deal about it, and never calls you out in public.  He’ll tell you later, and he has this blasé way of doing it that somehow doesn’t embarrass you?

He’s not good at explanations for things that just are in Japan, but he does his best.

He’s the type that if someone draws attention to your foreigner status he shrugs them off.  If they are being rude about it, well, then the intimidation comes out.  He’s not a small guy.

You usually have to take the lead with him, at least as far as things you want to do.  He’s tired after working all day, so if it was up to him, it would just be cuddle/naptime most of the time

Never adverse to going where you want, even the worst of the tourist spots.  He doesn’t even grumble about it, which has earned a side eye from Hiruma a time or two when he’d been dragged along (somehow, no one is actually sure why or how he got there, Mamori or Kurita are usually the suspected culprits).

Completely fine with PDA, he doesn’t consider your affection, or his, embarrassing, but there is always a hint of pink in his cheeks anyway.

Hiruma Yoichi

Given how much he travelled as a kid, the fact that you are not native to Japan means little to him.

Underwhelming, I know, but he speaks English fairly well, so there are no communication problems, and he really doesn’t see your foreigner status.

It’s mildly inconvenient if you are something like an exchange student, but while Hiruma is a tyrant and can seem inflexible, it’s not true at all.  He adapts well and can change plans on a drop of a hat.  If you think an ocean between you and him is an obstacle, you’d better think again.

Nothing gets in his way if he wants something.

There might be some clashes as far as romantic behavior, since Japanese youth tend to be fairly reserved when it comes to touchy PDAs and the like.  This goes double for him, since he doesn’t really like being touched in general (he melts some for you), and his automatic response negative.

You’ll have to be further into your relationship before he’ll do anything more than walk beside you.  Once you get past the two kilometer (one mile) high wall he puts up around himself, you will be given the privilege of being allowed to hold his hand out and about when he doesn’t need it, and he’ll let you snuggle against him if you’re sitting somewhere together.

If there comes a day when he puts you in his lap to work around you, you’ll know that he trusts you the most and has given you (metaphorically) his heart.

Not that he would ever say so out loud.

Jumonji Kazuki

Somehow, he’s even shyer with you than he is with other girls in school.

He’s somewhat used to being confessed to, it happens all the time, but when it comes to you, he just can’t be as cool as he is with them.

Language barriers stress him out – he’s afraid of saying something offensive by accident, no matter how many times you tell him that won’t happen.  If you speak Japanese, even at a basic level, it’s easier.  As long as the pair of you can get your general points across at the beginnings, it’s okay, and both of you get better as the time goes on.

He lets you lead dates, since let’s face it, you probably have more experience than he does and he doesn’t want to take you somewhere you don’t like.  However, if you ask him to plan something, he always comes through.

Really, he worries for nothing.  He’s perfectly capable of coming up with a date you’ll like.

100% asks Mamori for help though, even though he’s too embarrassed even to look at her.  Lord help him if Suzuha is within earshot.  The whole team will know about it in about five minutes (even if they are scattered.  Suzuha is scary).

Surprisingly, he initiates things like hand holding, and even kisses you first.  He can’t help it, since you’re so cute, and he’s a little impatient. 

His idiot friend’s teasing might play a part.

Habashira Rui

You’re going to have to do all the work to bridge the gap with this one.  He’d never approach you in a million years, even if he liked you.  The fact that your foreign is just another barrier for him.  His self-confidence when it comes to girls is in the negatives.

The type to watch you from afar and pine.  Even though your being foreign is a barrier, he still finds it interesting, which is why he pays attention to you in the first place.

He’s a little jealous by nature, so over time the attention you get starts bothering him, but he’s smart enough to know that it’s really none of his business.  It’s just one more thing to suffer in silence for.

If you start talking to him, he’ll come off as grumpy and short at first – keep at it!  He’s not really, at least not to girls. He may look like a gangster, but he’s actually pretty nice underneath.  He’s just really awkward.

He relaxes the more attempts you make.  He’s hesitant about your attention.  While he’s confident about his skills in most things, talking, especially to girls, he is not.  It’s in the back of his mind that it could be a joke, it wouldn’t be the first time.

Continued attention is highly recommended.  As he becomes more comfortable, he opens up.  He’s very busy with his personal training

Once you start dating he’s pretty sweet.  Listens really well, and learns all your likes and dislikes.  Gives you small presents that always match your taste.  He likes to pick out things you can’t really get in your home country.

Homer Fitzgerald

He’s really keen on meeting you right from the beginning.  He’s extroverted and generally happy and kind.  He’s probably on the front line to greet you.

He finds the fact that you’re from so far fun and he wants to know all about where you come from.  Asks a thousand questions and it’s easy to carried away by the wave of him.

This is a boy that respects boundaries.  No matter what step you’re at, he always asks until you’re comfortable enough for things to just be normal.

Literally the best boyfriend.  He’s enthusiastic about you and he falls hard quickly.  Wants to show you everything exciting in state. 

He’s an active guy, so there might be a lot of outdoor excursions and hikes and the like.  If these aren’t your thing, he can compromise, but he’s going to wheedle you into one or two trips.  He’s proud of his home state of Texas and he wants to share that with you.

He’s fine to laze around too.  Cuddling is his favorite and he could snuggle with you forever.  Willing to watch whatever you want, even or especially movies from your home country.  He sees it as further insight into you

Because he’s used to defending Panther from racism, he’s very sensitive to it.  It’s probably the only time you will see him truly angry.  Racism/xenophobia is a very big NO in his books.  Would fight the world for his babe.

Hi! So who are your top 5 Eyeshield 21 characters? And do you have any ships you like from it?

Hello! Thank you for the ask it really brightened my day as I woke up with an awful cold and I'm stuck at home atm. I'm sorry my answer is really long I got a little carried away but I really enjoyed answering it!

My 5 favourite characters are:

5: Kid: I really enjoy how he interacts with the other characters especially Testuma Jō, even when Tetsuma takes instructions literally leading to disaster he never tells at him or makes him feel bad. He understands that instructions will be taken literally and tries his best to give him nice clear easy to follow instructions and he's very supportive of him. I think it's really sweet.

4: Musashi: He's a selfless man who really cares about others before himself. He took over his father's company when he fell ill despite really wanting to continue is journey to the Christmas bowl with Kurita and Hiruma, because he didn't want the employees to lose their jobs and to suffer hardship while his father is unwell. He waited for his father to tell him to go back to playing before rejoining the devil bats.

3: Kazuki Jumonji: I really disliked him at first but watching him grow as a person I really warmed up to him. Seeing how he cared for Kuroki and Togano even when people (mostly his father) told him that they were trash and he was wasting his time being with them, made an impression on me. Despite how people saw the trio he always saw them as his closest friends despite their flaws, or that "they'd never Amount to anything". Him convincing them both to join the Devil Bats seriously and not just because of Hirumas blackmail then enabled them all to grow as people and we got to see the three of them grow into great football players and people.

2:Kurita: He's a sweet sweet angel! Such a pure sweet man. There is no one cuter, sweeter or kinder than Kurita. He's definitely a gentle giant and the butter that keeps the Devil Bat sandwich together. Genuinely cares for all his teammates and wants to reach the Christmas Bowl with all of them. Understands how a team member is feeling and knows exactly what kind of support they need. Pure Teddy bear.

1:Hiruma: Definitely no surprise here not an obvious answer at all 👀👀. I love this spiky devil man. Yes I know he blackmails and scams his way through life and can be seen as an awful person BUT he genuinely cares for his friends. Not that he shows it in conventional or healthy ways. He knew exactly where to kind Kurita when he went MIA and although his choice of words when he found him weren't the nicest, Kurita understood what he was saying and it encouraged him to continue their way to the Christmas bowl. He looks after his teammates we know because he scared the Haha brothers from bullying Sena after he joined the team. He might not always come across as being kind but he cares even if he doesn't show it very well.

I don't so many pairings from the show but I do so SenaxSuzanna I think they're really sweet and that they get along well organically and their closeness doesn't seem forced at all.

I also ship RuixMegu I know the manga

said there's nothing romantic between them but I don't belive it, I feel like they make one hell of a power couple and they're definitely not a pair to be messed with.

Eyeshield 21!: Scenario 

Prompt: What Dating the Boys Would Look Like 

Jumonji: A relationship with Jumonji would be simple and relatively normal. He’s the type of person who enjoys spending his life doing things he likes do to and he tends to indulge in his desires easily. As a result, most of the relationship with him would be spent relaxing around and doing simple things like watching television, reading magazines, etc. He’d bring his partner out to eat at fast food places and the occasional restaurant on special days. If his partner was into romance, he’d try to be romantic during dates, however, he might get easily embarrassed by such actions. He’s pretty emotionally expressive and doesn’t struggle to talk about his emotions to his partner, especially concerning the issues he has with his father. He feels safe and secure with his partner to the point where he allows himself to be vulnerable. He’s not big on PDA, but he does like to hold his partners hand or have his arm around their waist just to feel them there and let other people know that he’s with them. In private, he’s still a bit embarrassed by it (as most teenage boys are), but he’s more willing. He genuinely enjoys football, and it would make him really happy to see his partner supporting him on the sidelines and helping out the team he’s on. He’d love to look out into the stands and see them wearing his jersey number. His two best friends (Togano & Kuroki) are important to him and his partner would have to get along with them. He hangs out with them often, and he’d include his partner in those hangouts and they’d spend time together reading manga and just talking. The relationship is simple, but still fun

Kakei: A relationship with Kakei would be a bit hard because of his focus on football. He devotes a lot of his time to the sport and doesn’t seem to think about other things during his free time, however, if he does have a partner that would change a bit. He’d try to clear up his schedule and would take his partner out to places he knows they like. He thinks about what his partner wants more than what he wants. His favourite thing to do is just stay in each others company as they lounge in his living room. He’s not very good at expressing his emotions physically, but he’s good at expressing them verbally. Kakei has a way with words and I think he’s emotionally secure, which means communication isn’t a problem in the relationship. However, he does get embarrassed easily as seen by his interactions with Mizumachi in the manga. Since he gets embarrassed easily, he isn’t a big fan of PDA, and tries to stay away from that. In private he might be a bit reserved during the beginning part of the relationship, but he slowly eases into it and gets used to acts of physical affection. As mentioned earlier, football is important to him and he loves the sport more than most things. He’d love it if his partner could support him in the stands or act as the team manager where they can directly support him. Other than that, it means a lot to him knowing that his partner is there for him throughout it all. His teammates are important to him and he’d need his partner to get along with them (especially Mizumachi). He’d especially love it if they could keep Mizumachi under control. There isn’t a lot of adventure in the relationship, but it’s comfortable 

Patrick “Panther” Spencer: A relationship with Patrick would be very fun and a little bit hectic at times. He’s full of energy and would love to bring his partner to places that let him burn out his energy (amusement parks, laser tag, etc.). Other than going out, he does like to bring you over to his house to meet his grandmother and eat her cooking together. He’d watch television and lounge around on the rare days where he feels like having a relaxing day. He does try to do romantic dates, but it isn’t something he particularly enjoys. If his partner is really into the cliche, he’d suck it up and bring them to nice restaurants and give them flowers every date. He’s emotionally expressive and he doesn’t struggle to communicate at all. He’s open about his feelings and trusts his partner enough to discuss the hardships he’s faced in his life. He doesn’t have a problem with PDA, and might a bit clingy sometimes. He likes to have his partner near him and have a part of him touching them whenever he can. In private, the same thing applies. Football is important to him and it’s been his dream since he was young, which means his partner has to support his dreams. He’d love it if they help him out with practice and are there in the stands to cheer him on and offer him support even in the private confines of their homes. He talks often about making it pro and rambles about what he’ll do with the money he makes when he’s pro (he includes what he expects their life to be like too). The most important person in Patrick’s life is his grandmother, and his partner must be approved by his grandmother or else he’d struggle to stay with them.
