Wish I had something more with this post to celebrate it, but..

It's my One Year Anniversary as a Helluva Fan!

My story:

February 2024, I get another Prime trial. Good Omens had been rewatched, but I vaguely remember someone, somewhere? (gods, I never talk to anyone, when did this happen?!) mentioning Hazbin Hotel as one of their favorite cartoons..But this was years ago, when only the pilot was available. I wasn't even aware that the first season was just released, but good timing.

I watch. I really like. Very good songs. And, as I do, when I like something. I check out their wiki page, which mentions a "spin off" named Helluva Boss. "Oh, that sounds stupid," I think. But sometime later, I look up where it's streaming. Youtube? Free? Yeah, that gotta be low quality. I wait some more and eventually watch the pilot and first episode on my tablet at work.

Funny, I think. Then get to Loo Loo Land.

Hold up, the horny owl, that's been nothing but a joke up until now has layers, a sad home life and sings?! Okay, sad-horny-magic-owl is now my fav.

Keep watching. Still funny. Oh, and here's Ozzie's. (I do believe I'm now watching the episodes at home, on my tv) Sad-horny-owl is actually in love with the main character?! And is more sad then ever?? And main character has a picture of them together on his phone and has feelings for him as well?!

HOOK. LINE. SINKER. I binge watch through the remaining 7 episodes, fast as I can. I come online to join..er well, lurk, among the fandom. I write the date on my calendar, because dammit, I have a new obsession, and I'm damn thankful for that.

And I still am. Fandom tears and haters aside, I don't really have anything to complain about in regards to the show. Actually I love everything about it.

The merchandise, okay, I'm a mad collector, but more often than not, I have to go the etsy/bootleg route, simply because some shows can't be bothered to release collectorable stuff for their characters. Or it's extremely limited, or canceled at the last minute. (Do you know how many times I've had an action figure for a favorite character be canceled at the last minute? TWICE. R.I.P. my potential OUAT Rumplestiltskin and Dark Shadows' Willie Loomis figures)

And I even went the etsy/bootleg path at first in regards to Helluva, because I've assumed I wouldn't be able to buy the plushes I wanted. Only to find they get re-released at times. And also, they release new merchandise with EVERY episode/short and EVERY season/major holiday. That's crazy, in a good way.

Like their merchandise is crazy. These official fanart-ish assortment funding the show. But the craziest thing of all is, with everything that's released, I don't even feel like I have to buy it all, I just love the fact that it all exists. It's available out there for us.

And the cons, the voice actors and creator going to a new con basically every month. With new tidbits of information being released.

Oh, but that's how I ended up feeling especially spoiled. Because, a month after I finished watching the show, THE con happened, in which not only the opening song for the next episode premiered, but also the trailer for the second half of the season AND a short was released. I was eating good in the neighborhood.

Then a month after that, I got my first new episode. Oh, to start the fandom angst on a doozie.

So here I am, a year later. In the middle(?)(start?) of my first true hiatus. We're talking three months of no content, real spoilers or clue of when we're getting new stuff.

Hopefully that will change in yet another month, with this year's LVL UP con. And if not that, the following month will bring Spring Merchandise. And in time, shorts. Actually, more likely than not, I'll probably end up with new Hazbin episodes before Helluva. But in regards to the latter, with only two more seasons to go, I know I can't rush it.

For (mostly) good or bad, I wanna enjoy it for as long as I can!

danny phantom, season 3, episodes 7-13 thoughts! cannot believe im finishing this series so fast. ...cannot believe it ended like that...uh. one of the weirdest finales to a show I think I've seen, it really stood out against the rest of the series, and not in a good way, in my opinion. I paused to yell in caps lock...several times, I think, out of anger... BUT. ANYWAY, HERE WE GO.

-the fentons putting the kids to Work in the lab, with NO SAFETY GEAR. AT ALL. THEY JUST GOT BACK FROM SCHOOL AND ARE TIRED!!! and when jack asked how danny his day was and danny tried to say it was bad jack cut him off :( for the 400th time, i am stealing these kids.

-maddie and jack IMMEDIATELY SELLING THEIR LAB AND WORK FOR A LOT OF MONEY. and danny cant get into the portal anymore, oh no!!! he could always just steal vlads I Guess.

-THEY ARE VLADS NEW NEIGHBOR. OH MY GOD. this is a sitcom format. a butler came with the new mansion. i would absolutely try a kiwi fudge milkshake, why is the butler disgusted.

(they open their eyes a few times, so they aren't, but they look like it...)

-I like how this show has been pretty consistent (with a few exceptions) about a Ghost Being Huge (or getting larger) = Very Powerful

-ALL of the ghosts being ready to beat danny's ass? really. no they wouldn't, they've worked together before, and some of those ghosts are friendly!! cringe. why is the last ep written like this. I mean they came thru at the last minute but. was really cringing for a minute there, why did they write it like that

-valerie is there for another 0.3 seconds! ....she should've been more involved. dani is also there! for also like 0.3 seconds. almost fast enough to miss. (btw, I think shes still homeless at this point, are, we going to...do ANYTHING ABOUT THAT IN THE LAST 5 MINS OF THE SHOW)

-the cgi smoke or whatever it is. this whole post is me saying the cgi is bad, but IT IS.

-'danny or should we say. DAAANNNNY.' this is like the 3rd or 4th time hes been outed damn, but to the whole world, again. and valerie saw, and is just. an extra in the bg clapping. bro im so mad.

-i think. this is still linked to the dream ep a few times ago. hes still dreaming. this is a plot a 14 year old would write. this feels like a bad fanfic. so much got rushed, and not tied up. vlad wasnt really even the villain this episode, a fucking. non-being asteroid was.

-VLAD IS NOW A FREE-ROAMING SPACE NOMAD. I GUESS. THATS. SURE. WHATEVER. THE END, I GUESS. cannot believe I'm saying this, but: they did vlad dirty.

-IF YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE HIM A VILLAIN, MAKE HIM A VILLAIN!!! DON'T MAKE IT A METEOR!!! STOP BEING WISHY WASHY WHO WANTS TO SEE DANNY VS ASTEROID!!! I didnt even WANT vlad to be the final villain because his character is SO back and forth (esp this season.) but he has done some FUCKED UP SHIT AND I WANTED THE WRITERS TO DOUBLE DOWN, PERSONALLY, IF THEY HAD TO MAKE HIM THE FINAL BOSS. the cabin ep where he basically held danny and maddie hostage? FUCKED. THE DANI THING? FUCKED. FUCKING COMMIT AND MAKE HIM ACTUALLY SCARY OR HAVE HIM FUCK OFF AND AGREE TO A TRUCE!! WHAT IS THIS DYING IN SPACE NONSENSE. (and, he will (fully) die out there, right? still half human, still needs food and water. I imagine he'll like, slowly half-die but this time his human side is dying. will he come back 100% ghost? we dONT KNOW. WE DONT GET TO SEE, ITS PLAYED LIKE SOME FUNNY THING AT THE END, THEN THATS IT!!! WHAT!!!)

-I don't know how to articulate how FRUSTRATING THAT IS. having him basically out himself and ''hold the world hostage'' does not track at all in my brain. like. he's always been scary because he is HUMAN, TOO. like, if he was 100% ghost, he'd be LESS scary, but vlad MASTERS has more power and influence than vlad PLASMIUS because of his position as mayor, his money, too, and his (supposed, s3 made me doubt it) intelligence/manipulation skills, and his being in good graces with jack made it HARD FOR DANNY. him outing himself for,, money and to 'control the world' i guess?? MONEY WAS NEVER HIS LIKE, MAIN GOAL. yeah obv he likes money and is materialistic and values his Rich Life, but hes got billions, the end goal? 1. getting maddie (and or danny as his son, but to me he always treated that as secondary) 2. ruining jack. this feels like they wanted to say 'oh he just wants POWER' which is. HMM?? OKAY?? obv he /does/ want power (usually over certain ppl, tho), but seeing him try to get it like this FELT WEIRD SOMEHOW. weird like the ep where he tried and failed to take over various historical civilizations, because like,, how is that realistically going to do anything for him?? just, being in that time forever and never seeing maddie aka Goal #1 again?? HELLO??? this was like that, but worse

-this was such a weird ending to an entire show. why did season 3 only have 13 episodes?? why did it feel so weirdly paced?? WHY WAS THE ENDING LIKE THAT. I think. I am going to pretend I did not see that. fucked up, dudes. I'm like...hm. I shouldn't have watched that because now I'm mad. valerie sweetie im SO sorry you shouldve been more present. it felt like..if they knew this season was going to be short, and the last season, they should've spent more time wrapping up EVERYONE'S plot lines for the entire season. imagine how cool it wouldve been if every single ep of season 3 was working towards something, a big, nice wrap up at the end, with nothing feeling TOO rushed because they'd been heading towards the End for the whole season....

I will probably end up writing a follow up full series thoughts post. In a couple of days so I can sit with my thoughts. BUT. overall, I really liked the show! (ignoring the finale and some of the moments that aged pretty poorly...) it was charming and a fun concept and very fun to watch in general :) and I am pretending the finale didnt happen <3 and I’m gonna dive RIGHT into the dp tags and mix fanart and posts in my queue, very excited to run and look at that 🏃🏻 (and, of course, make more fanart myself hehe >:3)

I really do think the "kumbaya" part is what they were going for, but the devs also wanted to expand on existing 3H material so the “this is totally like dragon degeneration, guys” idea was born, but they also also wanted to advertise 3H so Seteth just blabs away all of Rhea's trauma onto effective strangers (saw Seteth's FBs, and he doesn't talk to any one of these people lol), but they also also also couldn't bother to fact check whether what they were writing made even a lick of sense, so they just went to the wiki and called it good. 

It's a mess, lol.

I know some will argue that FEH is just a spin-off and that the dev team aren’t as focused for several reasons, so I should take this FB with a grain of salt, and…they’re right in a sense? I mean, obviously Supreme Leader and Mila never interacted in 3H, so that’s “non-canon”, but what that FB is supposed to do is expand on Supreme Leader’s already existing hatred of gods and other non-humans. So that part is “canon”, in a sense. Which brings me to the problem I have with this new FB: Which part am I supposed to take seriously, and which part am I supposed to ignore? Am I supposed to see this as “ha ha, wacky hijinks”? This FB is supposed to be “emotional”, so I doubt that. Am I supposed to see this as “not necessarily canon, but it does expand on Rhea and Seteth’s already existing characters”? This seems the most likely answer, but…but all the plot holes though, lmao.

In SS, Seteth is pretty damn insistent that Rhea has to die to save Fodlan. Since she can only survive thanks to the power of Tru Wuv by Billy, it makes it seem like only romantic love can save her…but wait, in this FB it’s familial love that calms her down. Thanks to Seteth being the exposition machine of this FB, he’s pretty knowledgeable on Rhea’s trauma, but the topic of bringing back Sothis was only brought up once between them (near the end of WC), and FB!Seteth is surprised and worried about what bad juju!Rhea could mean for the state of Fodlan. So FB!Seteth isn’t from post-SS, and he could only have known about Rhea’s trauma before 3H starts…and he never once helped her during all that time. Brother of the Year material, this one. 

Seteth: “Brother?! I’m her 3rd cousin, twice removed! Why should I give a fig about her?”

So 3rd Coz’ also straight up lies to his allies that Rhea has to die, since he’s not only very confident in how Rhea got bad juju, but he’s also very confident on what veiny!IO could do to Fodlan. Kind of a big thing for him to ignore for 1000 years. I guess Flayn and Catherine weren’t told that familial or romantic love could’ve saved Rhea, since they very much would’ve tried. If only 3rd Coz’ cared enough to enlighten them, just like how he “cared” enough to enlighten effective strangers on all of Rhea’s trauma without her permission. Seriously, I rewatched the FB and it looks like Seiros is about to have an episode. 

Also, why did it take him so long to reunite with Rhea at Garreg Mach? I know he was guarding Flayn’s comatose body, but where was he keeping her? I doubt it could’ve been much safer than hiding her at GM, especially with Citrus in CS showing that preserving and guarding a body underneath the monastery is very much possible. 3rd Coz’ would be killing two birds with one stone in protecting his daughter and helping Rhea work through her trauma, as opposed to actually killing someone with potentially the help of an actual stone (Crest Stone, hur hur). Rhea could somehow hide her identity while still mingling with humans for 1000 years, nothing’s stopping 3rd Coz’ from doing the same. 

For those who still like Seteth after this FB, I envy you because I just…can’t lol. I wonder how they’ll ruin Flayn next?

Rhea's new FB part 2: The Electric Boogaloo

Real classy of Seteth to just blab about his sis' identity but act like he has no connection to her in this FB. What, was he going to give them her zip code and where her diary is hidden too? The Nabateans still have that looming threat of being murdered and mutilated by greedy humans, and with Seteth's concern for the public learning about Rhea's IO form, this still holds true while in Askr. I get that they literally saw purple juju!Rhea turn into a dragon, so revealing her IO identity technically makes sense (even though Seteth could've just said "she can transform, similar to some other races you have allied with" and not outright say what the form is called, and they should already know Rhea can turn into a dragon thanks to her Halloween alt - BUT WHATEVER!), but there's no excuse for "Oh, you don't know what her other secret identity is? Well, let me tell you!".

We have reached "Joel Miller has softened during his stay at Tommy's, ignore him being just as cautious as ever"-levels of character assassination. Good job, FEH! The fact that Seteth gives away NOTHING about his own secrets here (but is all too happy to throw lil' sis under the bus, lol) just makes it extra scummy in my eyes. Guess he really does just care about his daughter, screw the rest of his family apparently.
