Associations of Azeroth: Doomwatch
By Risri Elthron
Tumblr media
In the green hills of Loch Modan, the group known as Doomwatch has set up their base of operations. Once a member of the Alliance military, Doomwatch is now more of a mercenary band, working for individuals as well as the Alliance to deal with foreign issues and threats as well as retrieval of artifacts and relics as hired. Formed at the time the the Burning Legion began invading Azeroth, the name was a play on the Night Watch of Duskwood. A code name from the Alliance Military for their group, it became and rallying cry for the members. So much so, that now, no longer reporting to the Alliance Military leaders, the group carries the name with pride.
Doomwatch has two branches, the Military Branch led by General Ironhands is more of an mercenary outfit, and then there is the Civillians Corps, their Non Military Branch including Artifact Hunting, and Public Relations, which would be led by a Director. Currently the position is open and so the branch reports directly to Doomwatch Chancellor, Lady Dariana Gunrik.

A tour of the base showed the care the group has for what is theirs. The grounds were well kept:  a long building with a tavern like gathering space for the group to unwind in or share their meals; a forge for the care of their gear; private quarters and a barracks like accommodations for those in need; and a meeting hall for important messages and mission briefings. As we toured, the Chancellor and General answered questions about the history of the group as well as their personal story within Doomwatch. Two more members of the group joined us sharing their stories as well.
Lady Dariana Gunrik, joined after her brother and hearing about the group’s vision and mission to protect Azeroth, “What keeps me here is that I have put a lot of effort into building and keeping Doomwatch strong, as it’s leader. I love the vision Doomwatch has, for it is also the Gunrik’s vision and vow as well, protecting Azeroth.”
General Ogrimskar Ironhands, after the events in Northrend found Valerian Gunrik within Stormwind and stayed on, “fer me...its a purpose. Is not often a fella like me...after Northrend...tah find a group willin tah take me on...make me part o' tha' family. An' now tha' I am tha' General...its my job tah keeptha' family safe...tah be tha' fella watchin out fer em' all. Even as they watch out fer me. I fight cause I gotta...but...leastaways I'm fightin fer a good reason eh?”
Sir Sebastian Lightheart, champion and honorable Knight joined almost a year ago, “What drew me here at first was work and being able to serve...though I came to view most as my family....and you can't leave family no?”
Ms. Maygann Daggerfall, one of the newest members to the group added, “I've been here for a month I could say, I say I was drawn to the kindness they all seemed to show one another and I didn't really receive that in the past, their family like structure is what keeps me here for sure."

With hard work and dedication, promotional opportunities are available in Doomwatch. Currently, there are several open positions that Chancellor Gunrik would like to fill. “The Civilians Corps would be led by the Director but we don't have one yet, followed by the Ambassador who runs the Public Relations. On our  Military side there is the Arcanist Conclave which still needs an Archmage. We are looking for a Director that can work extremely well and in synced with me and the General (Ic and ooc) Someone who will not cause issues with and willing to work for the best of the Doomwatch, As the General is my Second in Command, the Director would be my third in command in a sense, so it is vital the Director is someone who is able to work well with both me and Oggie here. Public Relations Ambassador will be the one who needs to ensure Doomwatch recruitment process goes smoothly and able to handle social gatherings with the public.”
The General gave his thoughts on what he was looking for on the military side, “I'm always hopeful fer more soldiers...nae showboatin fighters mind ya. Real soldiers who know how tah follow orders, chain o' command. I have a sore spot for braggards an' narcissists.”
Lady Gunrik added, “We try to avoid those who have a hard time following orders, We definitely wouldn't want someone who always wants to destroy Azeroth, And we are also looking for those with the same vision as us, protecting Azeroth and defeating the Burning Legion.”
(OOC: Doomwatch is looking for people of every class and race. “Every class is welcomed. Every race as well. We don't have limitations on classes. We have everything from pallies to warlocks. And we have had RPers with every skill level. In fact one of our officers came to us with NO skill in game RP. I taught her and now she's one of our best.” Ogrimskar stated. “Be prepared for some very unique personalities and viewpoints. Diversity is strong here.”
Annyana added, “Everyone is very welcoming and here is a great family that will always look after you.”
Sebastian gave his thoughts for those looking to join, “I would like to wish the people who join feel welcome and maybe like family....a very strange family...where the aunt has fel green eyes and horns.”
As for joining the Doomwatch group? Ogrimskar explained, “We have a short IC interview with one of the officers. Get the hiring process over so people can jump right into RP. We let people know up front the basic rundown of guild rules, That way no surprises. We absolutely will work with new people to RP or WoW in general.”Except for the “tacklehugs” that no member is immune from.Whisper either Annyana or Orgrimskar or mail  them and they will respond. Every single person in Doomwatch can recruit, however.)

Doomwatch, a group of like minded individuals hoping to protect Azeroth from the dangers that threaten our happiness and lives. A happy yet dedicated bunch of men and women who stand together under the Doomwatch rallying call. Seek them out whether you need a little extra muscle, are looking for a job, or just a fun bunch to share some stories around the fire with.
(A big thank you to Annyana and Orgrimskar and the rest of the Doomwatch folks for spending a few hours with me!)
