ripples: this sounds so very ghibli to me / the vocals and the guitar are really soothing i like that / also it kinda feels like if. a country song was not a country song if that makes sense / i really like it it sounds like i'm laying in a meadow

love in space: okay the start is very energetic okay damn / oh vocals nice!! / the instrumental is very space sounding / this sounds kinda like a song you'd find in a rhythm game they're giving me roselia vibes but y'know the korean version / i'd dance around my room to this

acolyte: i really like this one / it sounds like. we're on a road trip or something / the guitar...... / his voice is so clear wtf?? he would be good for country i think / this is the chill type of groovy

Song Rec #12 - Blaze by Kalafina

I love Kalafina, I really do. I would recommend (almost) all of their songs if I could. I’ll make do with this one as a starting point.

This was the first song I listened to when it actually came out (as opposed to earlier stuff) so I have a kind of attachment to it. It was my favourite Kalafina song for a while (before I listened to Far on the Water and Haru wo Matsu)

I don’t think it’s the best representation of what Kalafina are like as a group (there aren’t as many harmonies and the backing is less folk-y), but I still love it because the vocals (especially Hikaru) are on point as always and it’s just a really fun listen.

I think it sounds the way it does because it was an ending to Arslan Senki and their other song for that (One Light, great song) has a similar kind of sound?

Either way I love it.

Go give Kalafina some love.

THE PRINCESS DIARIES ONE WAS INCREDIBLE i loved that movie but TWO they got rid of michael. he was my absolute FAVOURITE and they got rid of him. HE MADE HER FOOT POP AS WELL!! he was so sweet to her and they replaced him with chris pine and michael was so much better

foot popping is such a funny thing, it’s so movie drama and now every time someone at school kisses i look for the foot pop AND IT NEVER HAPPENS and i know it doesn’t happen in real life but imagine kissing someone and your foot just pops like how CUTE WOULD THAT BE

the couples at school are usually very boring or annoying or dramatic but there’s this one couple, alexandra and fin, WHO ARE SO CUTE. they were cuddling in the cafeteria and alexandra looked so HAPPY AND SAFE AND ABSOHSIA I JUST WANTED TO MELT THEY WERE SO CUTE i want that oh my god

school doesn’t have a lot of gay people and i kinda just wanna take someone out on a date but not date them because dating someone is a lot of work but going out on a date is fun i’m SO CLOSE to just asking a random friend to go out with me platonically you don’t even understand

HAVE YOU BEEN ON A DATE BEFORE you seem like the type to get asked out all the time. you’ve got confidence, you’re super sweet and uber pretty so you have to right? dates are fun and i love watching people go on dates because they’re always so happy.

people watching is the best activity ever. giving them stories based on how they’re reacting to things will forever be my favourite activity.

we should go people watch one day, at a cafe just watching people. at my local coffee shop, there’s this couple that’s always together. they look like they’re in university but they both have their laptops up. once in a while they look up from their screens and smile at the other before quickly looking down again. i think that’s adorable.

coffee shops are so lovely. you get all the vibes in one. the baristas are actually so fun as well.

i hope when i get a job it won’t be too hard, i think i’m gonna apply for a job in the local coffee shop, i’m there all the time already anyways.

my friends are really fun though, but i do wonder what goes on inside their brains. i walk home with a group of six and i usually talk to aariz and barnaby but somehow jakub and mabel are convinced they like me, i don’t understand how they’ve decided on that because aariz is aro-ace and barnaby is hung up over his ex.

they’re always convinced people like each other. just two days ago sai was convinced jhanvi liked erin even though jhanvi is BASICALLY dating jack. she won’t admit it though, even after she stole his hoodie and has been wearing it for a week.

sometimes they’re really sweet, fin brought in flowers for alexandra last week and that was adorable. i want what they have honestly. but sometimes it’s not so cute, harry and rosie are always fighting because rosie doesn’t think harry cares about her and i’m pretty sure he doesn’t. brona and dj also, but everyone knew they weren’t gonna last.

dj introduced his friends to me and then one of them asked me out, that was weird. i apologised for not liking men and just left, i feel bad for him. we talk sometimes now, but it’s awkward

spanish class has been awkward too, ever since ellen said ahmun liked me. i know he doesn’t, he knows i’m a lesbian, but there’s always that thought in the beach of my mind. he’s a great guy, i just know if i did anything to hurt his feelings i’d feel horrible because he’s just such a nice guy.

i hate the pressure of public confessions. i hate public proposals too. there’s no lenience on whether you say yes or not. the pressure to say yes when you’re alone is already sky high, in a public space it’s out into space. i’ve always hated public confessions, they’re usually tacky as well.

you know what’s not tacky? asking someone out in their most comfortable environment. i think that is supreme. not only are you giving them a chance to leave but just the thought someone knows where you’re happiest makes my heart MELT. it’s so cute.

honestly dating seems like a huge huge HUGE commitment like it's friendship++ in the way that you can kiss and stuff like that but also in terms of responsibilities there are like so many!! but yeah dates do seem really fun and based on my experience with platonic (fun fact!! j.d doesn't date) dates, they're like a fucking BLAST so yes ask out one of your friends

unfortunately not on a romantic one, and i haven't been asked out before, but honestly? i'd turn down anyone if they asked me out because like most of the time here when someone asks you out you either go to their house and trip on like 74 different drugs or you go to their house and fuck which is the case with the 20% of the school population that are a.) not virgins and b.) actually know what they're doing, and it's just a HUGE waste of time overall? and honestly, just doing shit with your friends is a.) more fun and b.) less awkward than trying to have your first time on acid and with somebody's parents right outside the door

AHH PEOPLE WATCHING IS SO FUN it's so nice seeing other people live their lives and smile and frown and laugh it just reminds you of the fact that the world is so goddamn big and there's people who love and cry and anger all the same as you.

oh coffee shops my beloved!!!!! i rarely have the energy to bike to the local one here, but when i do it's always so nice to just sit and relax and do work or read. i might apply to work there, but i'd fumble through all the orders and i'd spill everything or something, but i can dream, huh? you, on the other hand, i can see you fitting right in!!! like you'd probably add a special touch to people's orders and it'd be so sweet. my coffee order is usually either a iced matcha latte in the spring and summer or a london fog in fall and winter. for some reason, i can't stand the taste of coffee from cafes and the like, only the instant type i make. it's probably acquired taste more than anything. and those cookies i told you about are served at the local coffee place!!

Sorry to keep asking you so many questions - if you need to simply take a break from internet if it is getting to you! (or t least only upload essential things like news of lives and new albums etc) However, i was wondering what songs do you think are the best to introduce someone to kalafina - songs in which all of our utahimes get equal representation and which highlights keikos deepness wakanas lightness and hikarus edginess . I was thinking seventh heaven was a good one.

As for your question...hmmm...that’s difficult. It really depends on the person and their personal taste. But yeah, “seventh heaven” is most definitely a good choice, I would go for their fotw performance since I think it’s the best one. “Hikari Furu” is another great option.

Whenever I am in the position of introducing Kalafina to someone else, I like to choose some of their edgier songs with a lot of chorus work and maybe some classical elements.

Ever since their 9+ONE concert was released I am always recommending their “Consolation” performance from that live. It may be a bit too much for the first time but I also like to show people their super badass “Mata Kaze ga Tsuyoku natta” performance. Then obviously “Koibito no Mukashigatari no Yūgure no” which is hands down one of their best and most epic songs. Speaking of “epic” I need to mention “red moon” of course. I feel like there is not enough focus on Hikaru but otherwise I think it’s a great representation of Kalafina’s style and I love seeing people get blown away by the utter epicness of this song. “ARIA” is another one of my go-to recs (and yes, I linked to the 10th Anniversary version on purpose because it’s so real and pure despite the pitch change). “destination unknown” is a little light on the Wakana-action but there is more than enough for the song to be representative of all their skills. I really don’t like “signal” but I know it’s popular among other fans and all three girls SLAY in this song so I would probably consider it for this list.

On a side note, I feel like “Hyakka Ryōran” would also serve as a lovely introduction to Kalafina’s music since it’s a little more mainstream and thus quite appealing to a lot of people.

Then there is “Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa” of course, this was actually MY first introduction to Kalafina and I must say, for me it was love at first listen/sight. All three girls get to shine here and that PV, utter perfection!
