I was always fascinated with Tarot Cards, so I did my reading on Each Omori Cast Member, here’s what I got.
Sunny - The Fool
UPRIGHT: Beginnings, innocence, spontaneity, a free spirit
REVERSED: Holding back, recklessness, risk-taking
The Fool… I wonder who this is? We all know a fool when we see one. Don’t we? Innocent and freedom? Or recklessness and risk-taking? Spontaneity… Actions without thought, but the consequences to match. Think. Think and don’t get burnt.
Mari - The High Priestess
UPRIGHT: Intuition, sacred knowledge, divine feminine, the subconscious mind
REVERSED: Secrets, disconnected from intuition, withdrawal and silence
Mystery, sensuality, and intuition. Trust your instincts and move on the path you think is best for you, without listening or trusting what others say. Look for your aims and dreams and all the symbols and signs that the Universe is sending you. Surely you could possess a good knowledge of things around you. Thus, wake up the divine female in you and search for the answers to the unknown.
Kel - The Chariot
UPRIGHT: Control, willpower, success, action, determination
REVERSED: Self-discipline, opposition, lack of direction
The Chariot! At the reins of a chariot, we would all feel safer. Taking control, relying on determination to make our choices. Valiant.. but in some cases foolish. Many seek refuge in chariots, but perhaps, in some cases, they're not as safe as we think they are.
Hero - The Emperor
UPRIGHT: Authority, establishment, structure, a father figure
REVERSED: Domination, excessive control, lack of discipline, inflexibility
The Emperor. Authority, paternity... You are on top of things and everything in under your control. It is your hard work, discipline and self control that have bought you this far. It means that you are in charge of your life now setting up your own rules and boundaries. Structures designed to topple, no? How the mighty may fall, and their empires with them.
Aubrey - Justice
UPRIGHT: Justice, fairness, truth, cause and effect, law
REVERSED: Unfairness, lack of accountability, dishonesty
Justice... An eye for an eye. Not exactly, in some cases... but cause and effect. Actions and consequences. There's a balance to everything, and we all play a part in making sure the scales aren't tipped.
Basil - The Tower
UPRIGHT: Sudden change, upheaval, chaos, revelation, awakening
REVERSED: Personal transformation, fear of change, averting disaster
The Tower is sometimes interpreted as meaning danger, crisis, sudden change, destruction, higher learning, and liberation. Jump free of your troubles. Fight or flight. That’s the question we all ask ourselves… but often when leaping out of danger, we’re still faced with certain peril. Watch your step, it could be your last.
Omori - Judgment
UPRIGHT: Judgement, rebirth, inner calling, absolution
REVERSED: Self-doubt, inner critic, ignoring the call
Judgement. Judgement day is upon us! That's what you'd expect from this card, isn't it? Though perhaps in this case it's simpler than that. Perhaps one's own judgement, a snap decision to make, can save them from their own personal day of reckoning. Every step matters, every decision tipping the balance one way or the other.
You're playing with fire, talking to a Persona fan about the major Arcana. hehe. heheheh >:D
Very interesting observations, nonetheless! I agree with some of your associations, though I'd like to share my own two cents on the topic for fun!
Personally, I'd give Sunny the Moon Arcana. Its association with dreams and the unconscious fit him to a tee, no? Not to mention the reversed card represents repression of emotion...hehe...
The Priestess is a good choice for Mari, but I'd say the Empress suits her more, given her role in the group. Either one definitely works!!
I'd rather associate Kel with the Sun. It's heavily associated with joy and optimism, after all, and its reversed self representing too much optimism fits how I imagine Kel to have some cracks in that mask of optimism he wears.
I'd actually assign Aubrey the Chariot! Though now that I think about it, Justice fits her, too...
I wouldn't say the Emperor is fitting for Hero. Seems a bit too...traditionally masculine to me, especially considering Hero's character. I'd rather give him Temperance! It's representative of balance, which is something he really needs...Strength also works for him, imo
Basil and the Tower go hand in hand. I don't think I can come up with any commentary for it...though if you want a different perspective, I'd say the Hanged Man also fits him.
Ahh, giving Omori Judgement...Yeah, agreed! The Persona fan in me prefers to assign him the Aeon Arcana(it replaces Judgement in Aleister Crowley's Thoth deck!), though, given how characters associated with it aren't human. And they also go through an arc about finding a place in the world even though they feel out of place in it but shhh

Good Burger 2
Tumblr media
With the desire for nostalgic media increasing as the days go on, no one was shocked when it was announced that there would be a Good Burger 2. It was a bit surprising before this announcement when people started digging into the sorted collective pasts of Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. For longtime fans of the two stars, we knew what they were doing. Kenan had separated himself from Kel many years before. His success on the Critically acclaimed show "Saturday Night Live" has earned him accolades beyond what his original All That fans were expecting. Kel on the other hand after Kenan distanced himself and left All That after he did, Kel all but disappeared in some ways. Many people had nearly forgotten about him before the great nostalgia race began. When these two 90s titans reunited originally on Saturday Night Live, Kenan and Kel could barely contain their joy or natural chemistry. They had to take a moment and let the audience compose themselves from how excited they were to see them on stage together! this was a heartwarming scene that made the wheels start turning for some executives. If people want to see them together again, then lets see just how much!
Here we are now in 2023, with a second Good Burger movie that is streaming directly to Paramount plus. Are there new fans being raised by 30-somethings that will likely find this movie a gas? Absolutely! That is exactly who this movie is for, kids. While watching it, I appreciated the many callbacks to a series that I knew and loved so much. As a middle school teacher, I took it upon myself to incorporate a Good Burger skit into my lesson plans the following Monday after watching it! There were some classic moments and choice easter eggs that were a delight to see. Every cameo was appreciated and each star was recognized and utilized well for their joke as needed. Kel was clearly elated to be playing the character of Ed once again. He threw himself into his performance and even wrote in a classic "I love orange soda" line for the real fans. I am sure that joke flew over your own kid's head! At no point was I ready to turn the movie off, it was not a bad movie and is perfect for a family night of nostalgic clean fun.
Now, if I were to be honest about this movie as say....someone who writes reviews in their spare time as an adult with a real opinion, my goodness it was like scratching ones nails across a chalkboard! I was not ready to be tired of Kenan and Kel. Well, it is not necessarily me who is tired of them, Kenan is. You could feel it in his performance that he was a tad checked out in the heart department. Upon watching their earlier clips when they were young as well as their reunion clip you can see it on his face that he is okay with the idea of working with his old friend as long as it is not something that is long-term. In many scenes his lines felt like they could have been delivered more emphatically or he was straight reading the script. This is a man who has been doing and writing sketch comedy since he was a kid. The entire movie felt like a forced sketch for Kenan specifically, which is a little sad. He began his adult career trying to step away from this comedic relationship and stand on his own two feet. He has found himself back in this revolving door representing Nickelodeon just like he is 16 again.
Kel on the other hand, has come to terms with the fact that this character, is what he is truly recognized for. Other than having a love affair with orange soda, Kel's career has been summed up by his role in this one skit. We do not give him credit for his voice acting work in various shows and movies. We do not praise him for the live action acting he has done playing funny and serious parts. We as a fan base have pigeon holed him into this one role that we just cannot seem to let die. This is not to be a criticism to Kel to not do nostalgic work if this is what he enjoys. He seems to have a heart for youth and does not stray away from the opportunity to make kids laugh. However, we as fans should allow him to grow with us as well as be able to entertain future kids. He is a versatile actor who is capable of more just like his counterparts Kenan and Nick Cannon.
Nostalgic materials are the reason I have a review blog in the first place. We enjoy this kind of media because we long for a time when things were simpler. If people like Kenan and Kel want to use their time to entertain families and garner support from their now adult fans, they should do that. Kenan hopefully will find his spark in this form of comedy again. He appears to be on autopilot for his old friend's sake. Years of neglecting a friend can be repaired with love, not guilt. I would recommend this movie for anyone with children...or anyone who is high on the regular and needs a corny laugh.
