why do you think friedkin decided to go with the 'do the right thing' option over the 'power' option when in season one he was obsessed with power?
He's an easily manipulated idiot with the moral backbone of a chocolate fucking eclair. His "good deed" in this episode was deciding not to execute someone in cold blood and it's disappointing that people are counting this as a redemption arc because I didn't think our standards for white dudebro villains were so fucking low a n d y e t. He took a job running a human experimentation program and he killed Estevez. He's not made up for any of that, not by a long shot. He's been steadily losing it over the last ten episodes and Dustin is a joy to watch on screen but christ, there's no way in hell he would've "turned" if he'd not had his hand forced by the chaos caused by the Kellum knights. He would never have decided of his own volition to free anyone. He would never have voluntarily stood down from Blackwing. He's shown zero remorse for torturing or murdering people. He would've lashed out and hurt people in his confusion because he's the kind of entitled white boy that people fall over themselves to excuse because he's got nice cheekbones. His recognition that there are some things greater than power was conveniently timed but I don't feel like it was a solid foundation for the kind of complete heel-face-turn that a few people assumed we'd see. Him "doing the right thing" wasn't indicative of a major change of heart; people were dying, Dirk and Mona were yelling at him, and he felt like he'd lost control. It was still so much about power.Season two was about the dangers of trying too hard to be someone that you're not, and about how badly things can go when you lack basic self-awareness. Friedkin's journey for the last ten episodes has been the painful recognition that he never deserved any of the power he's been given and that he's only ever used it to hurt people. He went from being a professional-looking agent with a purpose to a self-confessed villain and that's exactly where his character arc needed to go. I don't know how he would've developed if he'd survived the whole stabbing incident but he's currently got demon eyes, a backstage pass to the universe, and the knowledge that getting involved with the holistic beans offers nothing but chaos and pain. So I'm having some bad feelings about season three.

At this point- I'm worried about the main family parents of Silas and Panto wanting to kill Dirk if they ever find him because of how sick they are of the whole deal with the prophecy that mentions him.
I’m fucking crying because last episode had Susie on the speakerphone saying she wants to kill Dirk, and Priest threatening to machinegun them all into non-existence. So the boy jumps through a portal into a fairytale land only to find three different factions (the Trosts, the Dengdemors, and the Kellum knights) who want to wipe him off the face of the earth.
The psychic bean literally cannot catch a break.
