It started while visiting Ellsworth Kelly's Austin at the Blanton museum in Austin Texas. I was impressed by the late day southwest light coming through the stained glass and reflecting on the white curved ceiling. For a moment it seemed I was in an old chapel in worship. Crowds of people silently lifting their hands, looking up and then down again almost in a ritual of worship. There must have been a thousand smart phone pics in that quite moment. Sometime later while looking at my photos of that moment I decided to somewhat interpret my experience, in art. I decided NOT to use traditional paint, lights or stained glass but instead to write code to create a new work, inspired by the experience of being in Kelly's Austin, sometimes called Kelly's chapel. Writing code to create art is kind of like making your own paint, brushes and canvas from scratch and then actually painting the picture. I started writing computer code in the 1980's in a language called "C" and in the process of creating this art I used "C#" (C Sharp) which is somewhat of the grandchild of "C". This art isn't minimalistic in Kelly's way but it is in a 21st century pixel code way. Photography and algorithmic pixel playing by Robert Gregory Phillips. #clanguage #programming #csharp #ellsworthkelly #blantonmuseum #atx #abstractart #artwatchers #artcurator #artcollector #artgallery #artlover #artbasel #kellysaustin #abstractphotography #codeart #arthistory #abex #minimalism #museumlover (at The Blanton Museum of Art) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrMlyYgFwur/?igshid=xpcju7koqph7
