In season 2 the writers took his character in a 180 personality flip just because they needed another villain. Instead of just. Introducing a new one. He is not an evil man but suddenly he's totally okay with just imprisoning and experimenting on his friend. Also, they turned him into an asshole and then used him to redeem the previous white guy villain.

i know i'm beating a dead horse here but the thing about ken is he spends the show DESPERATE to convince people he's just Some Guy (he's not dirk gently, please don't kill him! / he's not connected to the universe, please let him out!) while still being terrified of his own normality. that's why he seems to exclusively take criminal jobs or why he agrees to lead blackwing or why he hurts bart. he wants to be connected to others! he wants to be cool & plugged in & weird! but no matter how eccentric he gets its all just a performance. it's never enough for him. he wants to be Weird but he holds himself above others because of his normality, & he wants to be connected but his normality pushes weird people away. & instead of admitting the problem is HIM & that he's not happy with himself he goes mad with power trying to rein in the universe

when ken comes face to face with dirk at the end of season 2 and suddenly calls the shots and then calls him svlad and dirk looks so confused and mouths ‘svlad’ to himself, shocked, like this is supposed to be the random guy bart dragged around and now he is calling dirk svlad? chills.

I started watching Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and honestly I'm not super into it but Ken Adams fucking kills me.

Like. You meet this crazy woman who kills your employer and hasn't showered in weeks. Her hair is a nightmare. She's kidnapping you. She's talking about the path of the universe and her fate and how she's supposed to kill everyone she meets, she's fucking nuts. You're gonna die.

And then you don't. And the further you go with her, the more you start to realize that she's not bluffing, she legitimately kills everyone she meets. She won't die, the universe won't let it happen. She is completely unconcerned that you didn't die, because apparently this is just the way things work around her.

What if you met the god of death and she didn't kill you is already an insane starting point. What if the god of death took you on a roadtrip where she kills everyone she meets and you don't fucking die, despite all signs to the contrary? That's so insane, I love it.

if i had a nickel everytime a tv show featured a guy with a weird history with computers joining forces with a woman with a strange connection to fate, and ultimately use that history with computers to help the protagonists in the final episode, id have two nickels. which isn't a lot but its weird it happened twice.
