Dropping the Gloves ~Kerby Rychel Imagine~
Requested by @memz-elizabeth-:
Tumblr media
Summary: When you go to your boyfriend’s game, you’re exticed to watch him play. Until he decides to drop the gloves. However it’s a good reason why he did what he did.
Author’s Note: I’m so sad that Spring Break came to an end. It was fun while it lasted. Also, this is going to be when he was in the Maple Leafs.
Tumblr media
You met Kerby a while ago through mutual friends. You both were at a party and your friend introduced you both. At first, you didn’t get all the hype from hockey. you were just an American girl from a small town.
Your first date was going ice skating. Kerby showed you how to skate before taking out out to get food. That’s when you knew that you wanted to stick with him for a long time.
You put on your boyfriend’s jersey he had bought you a while ago. You’ve been dating Kerby Rychel for a while and for the first time ever, you were wearing his jersey to one of his games.
“I’m so excited to see you play,” You tell him.
“Really?”
“Yup. I know you’ll do amazing,” You tell him before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“Meet me at the lockers when the game’s over,” Kerby tells you. You nodded your head at him before giving him a good luck kiss. You went to go sit down at the seats while you waited for your friend and her boyfriend to join you.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were playing against the Ottawa Senators. You didn’t care as much on who the team was playing against. You just cared about watching your boyfriend play.
“Hey,” Your friend smiled.
“Hi guys,” You smiled back as you hugged them both.
“I see you’re wearing his jersey,” Your friend smirked.
“Oh yeah. I’m so happy that I can support him at his games,” You tell her.
As they did warms up before the game, Kerby skated over and winked over at you. You smiled as you waved at him.
“Hey, look over,” You noticed a player from the Senators skate over and tossed you a puck. You look over at your friend in confusion.
“I think that player has a thing for you,” She tells you.
“Well, I have a boyfriend,” You tell her before giving the puck to a kid nearby you.
During the game, you watched as your boyfriend played great. Until he got into a fight. You stare in shock as your boyfriend punched the player that gave you the puck from earlier.
“Let’s go Kerby!” Your friend’s boyfriend yelled.
“Jackson!”
“Sorry. Hockey fights are the best. Also, I’m technically supporting Kerby,” Jackson tells you both. The other player fought back until the refs and team broke them up.
After the game, you walked over to the locker room. You stood outside the door waiting for him to walk out. When he did walk out, you saw that he has a few bruises.
“Hi,” He said.
“I think you have something on your face,” You joke.
“You’re not mad?” He asked you.
“I’ve heard that hockey games have a bunch of fights,” You tell him.
“Yeah. Sorry you had to see that,” Kerby tells you.
“Why did you fight him?” You asked.
“He said that you were wearing the wrong jersey. I told him to back off and he kept pushing it. Said that he could make you happier and that you could be with a better player,” He tells you.
“Well that’s rude of him to say,” You tell him.
“I know.”
“Because I’m already happy with you,” You tell him. Kerby smiled down at you before leaning down to give you a kiss.
“You’re amazing,” Kerby tells you.
“Let’s go home and clean up your bruises,” You tell him.
“Alright.”
“And I’m driving,” You tell him.
“Whatever you want,” Kerby smiled before giving you another kiss.

Checking in with the Checkers:
Eetu Luostarinen has officially played 6 games with the Hurricanes after last night’s game in Detroit. If he plays 10 games (CAR @ BOS, December 3rd) he will require waivers before returning to Charlotte. We should expect his return to Charlotte soon, or possibly have him around for an extended period time. Hopefully it’s the first as I highly doubt he would clear waivers.
The Checkers’ current record is 7-7-3-0, giving them 17 points. As of today they sit 7th in their division, 14th in their conference and 24th in the league.
This past week they traded consistent healthy scratch Anthony Louis (1G) to the Texas Stars for future considerations.
The signed Kerby Rychel to the team
They faced divisional rivals Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, November 20th, and Friday, November 22nd. They earned only one point from OT during Friday’s matchup, despite the impressive grit and fight they put up in each game.
Chase Priskie continues to “do what he wants”. On Saturday, November 23rd, he scored the lone goal of the game that secured the win for the Checkers against former, fellow Calder Cup winning coach, Mike Vellucci, who signed with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this past offseason.
Despite their rugged start to the season, the Checkers’ PK% currently sits at the top of the league with 94%, and their PP% coming in at 3rd in the league with 20.8%.
Their current points leader is: Morgan Geekie (5g, 6a, 17p), goal leader: Julien Gauthier (6g, 2a, 8p), assist leader: Roland McKeown (1g, 8a, 9p).
This morning the Checkers’ have released former Penn State alumni Casey Bailey from his PTO. He recorded 3 points (1g, 2a) in 5 games with the team.
Upcoming Checkers Games:
CLE @ CHA | November 26th & 27th ~ PRO @ CHA | November 30th (Teddy Bear Toss) & December 1st (Post-Game Skate)
In The System
Jamieson Rees (F) - Sarnia Sting (OHL) - Currently second on the team in goals, assists and points (12g, 20a, 32p) in only 16 games.
Ryan Suzuki (F) - Barrie Colts (OHL) - Currently has 17 points in 13 games.
David Cotton (F) - Boston College (NCAA) - Currently leads the team in points with 15 (5g, 10a) in only 11 games.
Kevin Wall (F) - Penn State (NCAA) - Scored his first collegiate goal on Tuesday, November 19th.
Jack Drury (F) - Harvard Univ. (NCAA) - Has 7 points in 6 games.
Upcoming Games:
CAR @ NYR Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 7pm EST
NSH @ CAR Friday, November 29th, 2019 7:30pm EST
CAR @ TBL Saturday November 30th, 2019 7pm EST
☞ I hope you guys enjoyed this! If you have any ideas, thoughts, comments, questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to me! See you next Monday!

Maple Leafs Prospects That Will Have to Keep Waiting
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team that is looking to improve on a surprising season. However, the way fans saw them improving on the day they were eliminated from the playoffs is different than how they see it now. Back then, it was just relying on the Leafs' young players getting better. Now...
