It is amazing how mu branrow obsession never truly left, all it took was news about a third movie and a bts picture of the one and only Thomas. And it's all coming back.

Okay, but those Thomas-ship weeks/months that are being hosted are so incredibly cute. Not onyl ships, but also frot-fest and the upcoming halloween event! I cherish the positivity and wish to join in when I have time 💚

All of it makes me want to organize a week or month - a week seems more plausible - for branrow. I would love to try and host it, all I need to know if there would be people interested.

It probably won't be held too soon - since I barely have time myself at the moment. I just thought it was a nice idea to put out there. Feel free to let me know if you would be interested or have some ideas on how to host a branrow week ✨

So I've been thinking about Thomas in the war... And how it's never really brought up again in the show. And my imaginative mind has been cooking up scenes and now all I can think about is Thomas snapping, going off when some ideot (that's only heard of him) suggests he's a coward, that he's got nothing to feel pain for, feel burdened for, or plagued by ToT

Thomas going: "Don't you talk to me about sacrifice, despair, (or whatever you wanna make of it) I've fought in the war! I've lost people, lost myself. So, don't you dare, don't you dare tell me my heart's got nothing to be pained by!"

So anyway do with this info what you will (bT-T)b

First of all, I agree 100% that it's a shame it's never brought up again in the show. Like, at all. To be fair, the series often seems to skip by the part that the war happened, apart from a few remarks of "how times have changed" afterwards. What about trauma? Hello?? Especially on Thomas' part.

Here's my take, I feel like Thomas truly resents the war for what it truly was. A terrible waste of people - mainly the youth and for what? In the end it accomplished nothing, only pain and horrible suffering. I think Thomas views it like this, and doesn't talk about it, ever. If someone even were to mention his blighty, he wouldn't so much as give a shrug and rub his palm and say no more on the subject. No one knows how he got injured or what happened to him in the trenches, so I feel like no one would ever even dare to call him a coward. Ever.

It's even mentioned a few times - at least once by Mrs Hughes - how she thinks he's brave because he fought for his country. Which is what he did. For a few years - if I remember correctly.

I wish we had seen Thomas talk about the war at least once later on in the series. Or have him say or do something that makes it clear that he does have some sort of trauma. Which I personally believe he does.

This was a lot of rambling by me, I hope this meta - or take - makes at least some sense! Thanks for the ask anon c:

The two Toms, Tom and Thomas for the character meme? 😊

Let's break down the two Toms hehe

How I feel about this character:

Thomas - I love him. He was my favourite character from the first moment he appeared on screen, ever since episode one. My love for him only increased throughout the seasons. I think he is one of the most complex characters on the show and he has such a big arc, he changes alot from when we first meet him in season one. I truly started feeling for him in season three - when the whole sleep-kiss fiasco happened. He wants to be loved and accepted so bad. All I want to do is smother him and tell him he will be okay and that he's loved.

Tom - I also love him. Although, my love for him grew upon my second rewatch and after reading the fic And I For Him by dementian. It deserves a mention. I think his character arc is interesting, albeit a bit dissapointing in the end. I enjoyed his revolutionary spark and the way he used to speak up against the aristocraty. Unfortunately, that spark seemed to have dimmed by the end of season 6. Alas I think he has great moments and brings something refreshing to the show and the Crawleys.

All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Thomas - Tom <3 I am not even sorry. The wasted potential, not to mention the amazing chemistry Allen and Rob had off-screen. Still waiting for their gay bar in America spin-off smh.

Tom - Thomas obviously. But I did love the Sybil/Tom romance as well. The first time I watched the series I was rooting for them. Her death destroyed me and so did Tom's grief.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

Thomas - For Thomas I have many, I love him with Baxter. The older sister and younger brother dynamic is just chef's kiss. ALSO Thomas and the kids please, especially Sybbie & George <333. Can't leave out Mrs Hughes, who has a soft spot for Thomas 100%.

Tom - Obviously Sybbie <33. I also love the sibling-like dynamic Tom and Mary share. Especially, seeing how much their relationship grew over the course of the series. Can't forget Henry who is Tom's canon man-crush and you cannot convince me otherwise. Special mention to Mrs Hughes here as well, because she helped him through some stuff.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Thomas - I liked his ending as the butler of Downton. I know there are many who would have preferred he left service, which I kind of wanted as well, but I like the idea of Thomas finally belonging. Like he actually feels wanted and loved by the downstairs family. I am convinced most secretly like him better over Carson as the butler.

Tom - I can't get into his marriage with Lucy, at least not after the first movie. The fact he gets to inherit an estate is just ughh. Let's not forget that ending for him goes against everyhting he used to stand for :))) If anything I would have liked it better if he got together with a woman of the working class like Laura Edmunds if not Thomas.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I feel like the answer is obvious, but I wished Thomas and Tom had ended up together. The fact they never bonded over their shared love for Sybil - not to mention Sybbie - is a shame. Even a friendship between the two would have been a joy to watch. Wasted potential I tell you. HOWEVER I heard rumors for a Downton Abbey movie 14 where Tom and Thomas will finally move to America together after realizing they love each other. They take Sybbie with them and become one happy family <33 Totally real. Allen told me himself.

Hey there! 🤗 Let me activate my branrow thoughts. Warning in advance, I may have gotten carried away a little oops.

33. Who is the big spoon and why?

I like to think they switch - but I would say Tom tends to be the big spoon a lot more. Thomas has been alone for a long time and Tom knows this and loves to hold him and make him feel secure in his well-formed arms.

34. What’s their favorite nonsexual activity together?

Holding hands - hear me out. I think Thomas and Tom would be very touchy feely when in a relationship and not just sexually. Thomas loves the affectionate touches Tom grants him and Tom loves providing them. Also they love taking walks with Sybbie.

35. How do they deal with being away from each other for a long time?

Not very well. However I do imagine Thomas to have a bit more difficulty with it compared to Tom, especially at the beginning of their relationship. Thomas would be filled with dread whenever Tom would leave for London for car business or something, he would think Tom might not come back at first or if he did - he would realise he would have had enough of Thomas. They always make up when they reunite though and Tom will tell Thomas that those thoughts are utter nonsense! Tom tends to get very frustrated and fidgety, he can't stand being away from Thomas for too long.

36. What is their favorite place to kiss the other? (Cheek, hand, closed eyelid, neck, nose, etc.)

For Thomas, he loves to kiss Tom's lips and his jaw and his thighs.

Tom loves to kiss Thomas' nose and the scars on his wrist.

The heist au I posted, is actually something I am kind of proud of. I drew three people - full body even! And I don't absolutely hate it?

Next step, I am going to draw scenes/frames. I need to practice with backgrounds and vibes and broaden my horizons. That will be my challenge for upcoming months. Push myself to actually do that!

I am planning on opening commissions soon, since those are my only form of income at the moment. I need to set up my price sheets and make an announcement post.
