[Summary: What happened before PJ and Gradient death]

"Mommy I'm still hungry..." Merciless pouted.

He just ate a tiny piece of bread, at least it's a lot than the last time.

"I know sweetie." Said Killer as she kissed her son forehead. "Just be patience, once that evil guy is out. You'll be able to eat as much as you want!"

"Really?" Smile Merciless. "I wanna eat cereal, a lot of cereal!" Said Merciless. "I got to talk to brother today and he said he got cereal for breakfast."

"That's nice sweetie..." Killer patted her son head. "Now about you go to sleep so the hunger will stop."

"Okay!" Merciless nodded his head as he lay on Killer's lap.

Right, this is Merciless room. He was mistreated badly.. He don't even has a bed or window to look out. It's more like a prison cell instead of room for 5 years old.

Killer got lucky today for being able to stay next to Merciless. The guards usually will force her to leave or some maids will injured her.

"Mommy, will I be able to meet tiny baby sissy soon?" asked Merciless. "How long will she be in your belly?"

"Hmm? Merciless, we don't know if the baby is a girl or boy yet..." Killer slightly chuckles. "You have to be quiet about this, don't let anyone hear us."

*BAM!!*

A loud voice coming from the outside, it's Nightmare.

"Merciless, quick hide!" Killer grabbed her son by hand and make him hide under the bed. "Don't come out unless that evil guy is gone... Okay?" Her voice trembled in fears.

"M-Mom—"

The door was opened at once. Nightmare seems upset...

"Just the hell you were doing in this rat's room." he groans.

Nightmare went to Killer and forcefully grabbed her by wrist. That'll leave some bruise...

Killer stay silence, she can't say anything right now. If she do, things will get worse.

Merciless watched Nightmare took Killer away in horror. He is horrified of his own father.

As they were away from Merciless room. Angst were reading behind the pillar quietly, he unlike Crescent, remember how much Killer love her children. Angst always try to find a way to talk to Killer quietly.

But today was different, Nightmare was grabbing Killer and now he threw her on the floor.

Angst saw the scene as he hid behind the pillar. He have to do something, but he know if he interfere, not only Killer but all of his siblings will get hurt.

"You damned woman. How many time I have to tell you to listen to me!" Yelled Nightmare. Nightmare then grabbed Killer hair and make her face him. "First that damned destroyer purposely pissed me off and now you?" he laughed. "You people truly trying to—"

*Bonk!*

A duck toy was threw on Nightmare's head. It was Crescent who did it.

"F-Father, don't touch my mom like that!" Crescent slightly raised his voice.

He is terrified to see his parents are fighting. Killer is more horrified about this situation now. She take any abuse as long Nightmare don't touch her children..

Nightmare cracked a smile and his eyes were dark. He slowly let go of Killer's hair.

"Crescent, my son... This is adult business." Said Nightmare. Just then, his tendril are choking Crescent now. "You know what happens when rats like you interfere hmm?"

"NO—!" Killer grabbed Nightmare arm. "Please let go of my baby, he didn't know. I SWEAR I'LL NEVER VISIT MERCILESS AGAIN." She cries.

Nightmare look unimpressed, he doesn't want to change his mind.

"Boss!" Cross finally came back to the castle. "Let go of him. He is your son remember?! You want a heir don't you?" Cross keep his cool, trying not to show he is nervous.

"What's the use of having a heir if this rat all know to interfere adult business?" glares Nightmare.

"That's because he's a child.. We- I can educate him how to not be like this anymore so let him go.." Said Cross.

It was a silent for couple of seconds. Nightmare let go of Crescent at last.

Killer caught Crescent before his head his the ground.

"Tch..." scoffed Nightmare. "I better see you in my office in few minutes, Killer." Nightmare walked away as he didn't bother to glance back.

Crescent is still breathing, Killer couldn't be more thankful to God. Angst stop hiding behind the pillar as he immediately went to Killer.

"Mom...!" he cried.

"I'm here honey... I'm here." she smiles gently to her son. Not wanting to worry him.

Cross sighed as he look over the mess. He carry Crescent on his arms and say

"I'll heal him up." Said Cross. "I'll apply some ointment for you later... Okay?"

"Okay..." smiles Killer. "Angst, go with mister Cross." Said Killer.

"Alright mom..." he nodded and follow Cross from behind.

All the servants was watching. They are laughing on how miserable Killer is...

And now she have to face Nightmare again....

Crescent was invited to family dinner. He really don't want to go but Artemis is there and he know Angst stopped acting like a caring brother and Merciless is.. Well him. Killer is going to ignore Artemis while Nightmare is going to make everything awkward.

So at the end, Crescent decided to go.

He expected for it to be dead silent. Unfortunately he was not right because Nightmare was late to dinner while his family started to go on each other throats.

"You monster, you really enjoying this argument hmm? Is it fun to be feed by our negativity?!" Killer didn't hold back and throw a plate at Crescent.

Well that'll leave a scar on his head...

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Artemis gasped by her mother action.

"Shut up Artemis! If I keep seeing his face one more time, I am going to kill myself. You and him are both monsters. My only children are Angst and Merciless!"

Merciless had to hold Killer back from trying to throw another plate.

"Crescent, I think you should leave now." Said Angst as he took a sip from his tea. "Artemis have to stay though. After all she's a daddy's girl and her dad will be so upset if she left. Who knows who will he hit this time." He glances.

"You—!" Artemis was stopped by Crescent.

"Ignore him, sister. He's not worth your time." Said Crescent.

"What? I'm saying the truth, dear brother. You're only bring chaos in this family. How about you leave. I don't see any worth in you by being here." Angst continue to provoke Crescent. "Of course you have to defend your kind little sister. You never did to any of us."

"Angst please, can't we just have nice dinner? Crescent didn't do anything...-" Merciless sighed as he finally calm his mother down.

"Ah yes that's right. He didn't do anything at all! When you were abused so badly, he stay blind eyes and ignore your existence while showering his sister with love." Angst laughed then got up from his seat.

He went to Crescent and grabbed his wrist.

"he's so pathetic isn't he? He didn't do anything to help us and he is living a good life in the damn church!"

"..." Crescent sighed and say, "Are you really trying to hurt me in front of our family? Really brother?" he seems to look down at Angst.

"Angst let go of Crescent now, his wrist are bleeding!" Yelled Artemis which brought Merciless and Killer attention.

Artemis didn't hesitate to try pulling Angst hand away, Crescent was surprised by her sudden actions. He didn't get a chance to warn her... Angst was quicker than Artemis, pushed her away.

"Don't you interfere in adult business Arti. You should've live a quiet live but yet you're being a misfortune to all of us." Angst coldly glares at Artemis.

It was Crescent final straw. He slapped the shit out of Angst.

"I swear to God I am kind enough to let your anger out on me." Crescent then slapped Angst once again. "I already told you to not interfere in my little sister life, didn't I? She can live however she wants."

"HAH! you really showing your true colors. You're just like father, all fake and deceiving. I can't believe I'm related to you." Angst scoffed at Crescent.

Merciless in the other hand pulled Angst away from Crescent. His eyes shivered as he recalling the old memories.

Crescent aura is just like Nightmare now, Merciless remember what fears are like once again... He don't like it.

"What's wrong 'Merciful'? Don't tell me are you afraid of me too? Honestly you're the same like mother. All bark but never bites. I am a monster yet you two keep messing with me." he didn't hold back then he glanced at Killer.

Killer is trembling too. Crescent understand her hatred yet he can't let her continue being like this to Artemis. He sighed and smile at her.

"What's wrong, Amaris? Are you too afraid of me?" Crescent chuckles.

"W-What, how did you know that name?!" Killer then yelled at Crescent.

Everyone was confused Killer reaction on the name. Clearly no one knows it expect for Alphonse and Crescent...

"Oh, I know a lot of thing about my mother. Father is so generous on telling me about your past... Now, now you wouldn't want me to tell your children about it right?" he smiles patiently waiting for Killer to say something.

Yet... Killer didn't say a thing and ran out from the dining room. Merciless follows Killer as he also don't want to be in the room.

"..." Angst still glaring at Crescent. "I was right aren't I? Mother is afraid of you, Crescent. You're nothing to this family anymore."

"Ah... Honestly Angst. How about you kill me?" Crescent suggested to Angst. "Go on, kill me. I am nothing to this family right? Wouldn't it better for you to just kill me?"

"I... You're fucking crazy. You're manipulating me just like Father."

Crescent slightly chuckles and smiles at his twin brother. "I knew it.. You're also afraid of me. You're afraid of the consequences, you know what will happen if I die by your hands." Said Crescent. "You're right, I'm just like my father. I could easily disown you anytime I want just like father could but I know you're afraid of being left alone."

... It was an uncomfortable silence. Angst didn't say anything and left the dining room.

Crescent sighed while Artemis speechless by whole situation. She didn't know Crescent could easily make them go away-

"I apologize you had to see that. Are you alright sister?" Asked Crescent.

"I'm fine... Teach me how to do that-" Said Artemis.

"do what?" Crescent didn't quite understand about Artemis request.

"You know? Like make all of them go away!"

"ah... How about you just ask them to join you for prayer, that way they'll stop bothering you." Crescent happily replied to Artemis. "Now, now... I have to go to hospital because I'm losing bloods."

Crescent look at his father, he doesn't show a hint of surprise nor resentment. Just patience.

"Father, how about you take a sip of the tea first." said Crescent as he poured the green tea to Nightmare's cup.

Yes, Nightmare in fact is visiting the church in light kingdom. He don't know where Crescent currently live now, Crescent is his son and he knows him well but at the same time, he don't.

"I am getting old and you're my only heir." Said Nightmare.

"Hmm? You finally realized that you're old? I'm glad." He smiles. "But Father, Merciless is also the heir so why don't you make—"

It was a simple no coming from Nightmare. Crescent nodded and poured another glass of tea for his father.

Crescent slightly laughed and put down the teapot.

"Father, you really should've think twice before killing Angst." Crescent show a sad expression on his face, "you really should've try to be a better father to me, I might rethinking my decision and become the king... But it's too late."

"... I apologize for what everything I've done to you." Nightmare slightly bow his head.

Crescent is not surprised... He honestly see this coming, he still believes everyone can change if they just try but why Crescent feels sad about his apology?

"Do you remember what you done to me? Spill it out to me and I will consider to be the king." Said Crescent.

But there was only silence... Nightmare can't even name what he did to Crescent. He don't care and still hurt him, he forget what he had done to Crescent to think he himself is a good person...

"Hmm... I remember you were choking me, starved me because I couldn't read, accused me for something and then locked me out from the castle." Crescent smiles gently as he said those things...

It's rather terrifying for someone to be this calm when they spoke about their trauma.

"You also blamed me for Angst's death and my mother's miscarriage but everything was because of you, right?" He chuckles. "Say something Father, did you remember when you threw Angst corpse into the basement and curse for rats to eat him? Do you remember when you called me 'Adelle'?"

"...."

Nightmare couldn't say anything. He remembers and he never want to admit it.

".... I forgave you for your doings, Father." Crescent got up from his seat and pat his father shoulder. "But you never want me in your life, wouldn't it be better if you pretend you never had a son..?" he sighed and smile faintly. "I hope you will never come to be again, Father. Farewell.."

Honestly, in E.L.A Crescent was the scapegoat for Alphonse (cor. nightmare). Thing Nightmare do, he'll blame it to Crescent, leaving the present situation where Killer, Merciless and even the people in darkness kingdom despises him

Father beat up mother for useless reason. She was feeding Merciless, she should just listen to father.

"Mom... I brought the bandages. Mister Cross is calming father down." I said as I sit next to her.

Her eyes are lifeless, yet... She still smile at me with such genuine smile.

"Thank you Angst... You're a kind child.." She smiles as she hugs me.

It feels like I am comforting her right now.

"Hey, Angst. Do you want to read book together?" Crescent showed me a fairytale book.

It's the same book we read, father did not gift him any new books.

"Sure... Anything for my twin brother." I force myself to smile.

Crescent would be sad if I didn't smile. As the oldest, I should make my brother happy.

I am in my study, Crescent skipped his lesson so the tutor is chasing after him. That's when I saw a small figured sneak it.

"Nightmare." Nim stopped Passive from attacking Angst.

Angst has this bored yet smug look. He is mocking Passive.

"You are getting aggressive nowadays, Nightmare." Nim sighed.

"Only to that brat."

Nim could only sigh. Something is wrong, that's what she trying to say.

"Angst said something terrible is going to happen to you soon." Nim claim. "Would you tell me what's up with you because he won't tell me what's wrong."

"Tch, since when do you care—"

"Nightmare, this is an order. I demand you to tell me what's wrong with you." Nim grabbed Passive by collar, humiliating him even after death.

"...." he sighed. "The child of Grim Reaper caught me but I managed to escape."

"What?!" Nim is shocked. "That couldn't be, she sealed her power. Have you done anything without telling us, Angst?" Nim accused Angst.

Angst look at both Nim and Passive. It was silent, then laughter came from him.

"You guys should look at your horrible expressions!" Angst mocked them. "Yes I did mess with her so she could play this game too!"

Nim feels annoyed by Angst behavior. This is not the first time he done something like this but in this timeline, he went too far.

"You know what happens if a grim reaper catch revengeful spirit? That spirit will disappear from this world!" Nim yelled.

"So?" Angst smirked. "That's better because I don't have to deal with your annoying ass."

"Why you—" Nim sighed. "Whatever, just give Nightmare some of your energy so he could survive again."

Angst rolled his eyes and summoned a knife. He stabbed his arm and as expected, he has no bloods but black smoke gets out from his wounds.

Just as Passive is about to wake Hope up. He sense Merciless is in trouble, while Nim sense Artemis is in trouble but didn't do anything.

"He is struggling to kill Artemis." Nim cut Passive words off. "I'm not in the mood to do anything so have fun helping him." Nim left after she said that.

Passive got annoyed while Angst has unusual blank eyes. He is not smiling.

It is dark in the alleyway. Angst use his vision and hearing to find his little siblings.

"Haha... Did you realize it, Artemis?" Angst smirks. "How about you go home my precious little brother. I want to talk with our little sister." Angst glanced at Merciless.

"I..." Merciless hesitated too.

He can trust Angst, he always trust Angst but does Merciless really want Artemis to die?

"I can read your heart, little brother. Lux would be so disappointed..."

"Go home, that's the best for you." Angst walk passed Merciless as he grabbed Artemis wrist.

Merciless watched the scene in pain. He is pathetic like he always be... So he left Artemis to Angst's hand.

"Hah... I tried to be nice in past timelines so many times... But you just don't listen." Angst glared at Artemis as he gripped her wrist.

His strength is not normal. How in the world someone suicidal like him is strong enough to cause someone wrist to bleed.

Yet, the realization hits Artemis when Angst mentioned about the timelines.

"Why not?" Angst smirks at Artemis reaction and his black eyes only make things creepier.

Artemis feels betrayed and confused. She couldn't understand why Angst act like this. 'He never was like this before'.

"T-there's must be an explanation. I know you Angst. You are my kind older brother. You'll do anything for your siblings—"

"Do you really mistaken me for your little fantasy imagination of the ideal of having older brothers?" Angst laughed it off. "Tell me dear sister, what did I ever do to help you?"

"Y-You did! You are nice I know. I remember you...." Artemis stopped her sentence.

Why couldn't she remembers now? She swear she recall Angst being nice and praise her but what else? What else did he ever done for her....?

"That's right... I never done anything useful for you." Angst said in such cold tone. "You don't know me and I don't know you. We are strangers despite sharing the same bloods..."

"That couldn't be... So all this time, you were...-"

"Faking it? Manipulating you into believing our family is happy?" Angst chuckles to himself. "I played my role as good older brother, I let you believe white lies and let you live a successful life." he said. "But why you must stubbornly try to live differently... Haha... ..."

Artemis bloods drips to the cold ground.

"Ah... This is useless." Angst hold Artemis body and carry her out from the alley.

"You are crazy...." Passive is too disturbed by the scene he just witnessed. "You had the chance to help and end this game.... Why..."

"I want to die, uncle mare." Said Angst. "I couldn't feel anything after killing my little sister. Isn't that just pathetic?" Angst eye went on Artemis lifeless body. "I couldn't even cry even when she die many times. I couldn't shed a tear when father killed Merciless in that one timeline...."

Angst sighed. His laughter is not even an emotion to happiness. It's fake.

"Right... Palette need to die so the timeline will be reset... ..." Angst claimed. "I couldn't understand her and Palette. They suffered so why they keep on fighting...?"
