you were in college, working part-time, waiting tables. left a small town, never looked back. i was a flight risk, with a fear of fallin', wondering why we bother with love, if it never lasts.
you and minji were your friend group's favorite couple. almost anyone would agree, actually.
you met in high school when you transferred from a smaller, almost unknown town under a merit scholarship sponsored by the school. you were your family's pride and joy, the eldest daughter and older sister to two siblings. your parents weren't born with the same comfort they provided you and your siblings, or any comfort at all. it took a lot of work for them to get to where they were, and even then they still work day and night to give a life better than theirs for their children.
being born first, you witnessed everything. the blood, sweat, and tears your parents poured into everything; their failed start-up business, their multiple part-time jobs, and the low-paying wages they'd get in return. but above all this, you also saw how your parents did it all for love. love for you, love for their kids, love for the family they made. and so you swore, as an adorable 8-year-old, that you'd work your hardest and earn enough money to get your parents to rest comfortably once they were of age. you were raised in a struggling house, but a loving home. you knew love. you weren't a stranger to it. you loved love and the power it held.
minji, on the other hand, didn't. when you met her in your first year of high school, her parents had just signed divorce papers after her dad caught her mother cheating. she was only 16 at the time, and her parents were her role models of love. to her, they represented what love would, could, and should be. she believed in love, until she grew to hate it. she hated the way it hurt her father, she hated the way it hurt her, but most of all she hated the way it pulled her mother away from her. minji knew love. she wasn't a stranger to it. but she hated love and the power it held.
because of the stark difference you two had with your outlooks on love, it was a shock to everyone when the kim minji agreed to not just being your prom date, but to you courting her during your junior year of high school as well.
“kim minji is this really you?” her best friend at the time, seol yoona, waved her hand in front of the raven-haired girl’s face. she was trying to finish an essay in english, one of their final requirements for the semester. “what’s different about park y/n?”
minji sighed and closed her notebook, finally facing the rest of her friends who sat crowded around her.
“look. she was nice to me at prom and she’s…” her friends’ eyes widened in anticipation. “cute, i guess.”
“oh come on minji that can’t be just it…”
“yeah you rejected like a quarter of the student population! i’m sure there were a few nice and cute ones!”
“they all…” minji started as she stood up from her desk and began packing her things in her backpack. “i’m just more comfortable with her, okay? we’ve been friends a while, and she’s patient about everything right now because she knows about…”
the rest of the table nodded their heads in understanding. there was no need for her to expound on that.
meanwhile, in the complete opposite side of the school campus, was where you and your two closest friends ate lunch. under the shade of the courtyard’s largest tree.
"you're fucking playing with me..."
"i'm not! she said yes! she really did!" you exclaimed, mouth full of the school's spam and kimchi kimbap.
"you better not mess this up y/n... you're like the first person i know of that she's ever said yes to." your other friend commented, playfully shoving your upper arm.
"do you guys not have like... the teeny-tiniest bit of faith in me?"
they looked at you for a solid minute before nodding and shrugging. jokes aside, you were a selfless and caring person, and every one that has ever gotten to know you was sure of that.
and fair enough, by your first year of college which was also minji's first year as newjeans' leader, after almost 2 years of courting her, you asked her to have things official, and she said yes.
do you remember, we were sitting there by the water? you put your arm around me for the first time. you made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter. you are the best thing, that’s ever been mine.
it had been just over a year since you two started officially dating, and nothing much changed since you put a label on it. you were now in your second year of university, simultaneously maintaining a part-time job at a local restaurant.
it didn’t take an idiot to know that dating an idol was hard. and it also didn’t help that your schedule wasn’t the most flexible either. there were even some days where minji had more time in the week to spend than you did. the both of you hated that, and it frustrated you two to the point where there were times you’d take it out on each other.so when you and minji had your first big argument, it was a shock to none of the peers who knew of your relationship.
you sighed deeply as you unlocked the door to your apartment. it was the middle of midterms week, and you had just finished an evening shift. you didn’t even want to think about studying for your calculus exam tomorrow, but you knew you had to if you wanted to keep your gpa up to the scholarship’s requirements.
“park y/n.” minji’s voice interrupted your brain’s train of thought. you were so busy trying to figure out the most efficient way to spend the rest of the time between the present and your exam.
usually, minji’s voice calling your name would be warm and sweet. you talked about it to your friends one time, describing it as melted chocolate, and she gagged at how cheesy you were being. but god forbid you speak the truth.
but now, her voice was neither warm nor sweet. it was cold. it was cold and sharp. if you had the time to process it you’d probably describe it as ice shards, rather than melted chocolate.
you hesitated to face her, because you knew exactly why she was here in your apartment at 11pm in the evening instead of her dorms, fast asleep. you couldn't count how many times you cancelled a date last minute within the last month, and minji was tired of you not explaining properly.
you heard her stand up from the living room couch and walk towards you in the dining table.
“what is it, minji?” you spoke, leaning your forehead against your palm as you brought out school textbooks and worksheets.
“what do you mean ‘what is it, minji’? you know why i’m here, y/n.”
she wasn’t lying. again, you knew why she was here with you, which is why you dreaded the conversation that was about to come.
“this is the 4th date you’ve cancelled this month without telling me why. if you wanted to break up i’d much rather you tell me directly…” the last sentence felt like a stab to your chest. the cold and sharp dagger that was her words, taking one large hit.
“what the fuck? no, okay! no i don’t!”
“then for the love of god would you at least tell me why you’re being so fucking distant?!”
you kept silent. eyes avoiding hers as you internally debated on whether you wanted to burden her with your struggles or not.
“see? you can’t even say it.”
“fucking hell. my sister is sick, minji.”
you let out a shaky exhale as you spoke, finally gathering the courage to face her.
“she has pneumonia. she’s sick. she’s in the hospital. and i-“ you cut yourself off as tears made its way down your face. the cold exterior on minji’s face dropped almost immediately at the sound of your voice breaking. your breathing remained shaky as you tried your best to verbalize everything that has been piling up over the past few weeks.
“medical insurance isn’t enough to cover it. my parents are working endlessly, but they’re getting older and i don’t want them to overwork themselves or they could get sick too, so i asked if i could pick up more shifts at the restaurant because that’s really all i can do right now. it just breaks my heart whenever i visit her because she’s always telling me that she’s sorry for causing trouble when none of it was her fault. and fuck, as if it doesn’t get any worse it’s midterms week, and if i fail just one exam it’s enough to bring my gpa down for the school to drop me.”
you gasped for air.
the girl sat beside you and rubbed your back, reaching over for your water bottle and offering it to you. you muttered a thanks as you gulped down half of the water inside and gave yourself a few seconds to speak again.
“and i know what you’re thinking. ‘why didn’t you tell me? i could’ve helped.’ but minji please. you’re an idol. you’re a celebrity. fuck, you’re the leader of one of the biggest group’s right now. you have enough on your plate. i don’t want to add to that.”
minji nodded to show you she was listening despite not saying anything since you started letting it out.
"let's take a walk."
you were shocked by the suggestion, and minji could tell. she would be too.
“but won’t people recogn-“
"more air to breathe, more space to think. come on." she got your coat for your and brought your most comfortable pair of shoes over.
you weren't agreeing, but you also weren't objecting the idea. from what could've been a fight to this, you were just glad you had the warm minji with you right now.
she dragged you along by the hand, just a few steps ahead of you. it didn't take too long until you two found yourselves sitting on the park bench facing a small river. it wasn't too far away, just a couple meters from your apartment building.
“can i ask you something, y/n?” there it was. the warmth, the sweetness in her voice.
she turned to face you. “do i bother you when i tell you about my problems? when i talk to you about how i worry for haerin not opening up, or when i tell you about how hanni might’ve bothered me on a certain day. does that burden you?”
you looked up at her shaking your head, your eyes still red and puffy.
“w-what? no. never. i like that you let me know. i like knowing you have some type of output for it."
"well if it doesn't burden you then what makes you think you'd burden me?"
you slowly looked away, eyes busy gazing the clear water and the rocks that laid under.
she moved to wrap her right arm over your shoulders, and slowly reached for your left hand to hold if you'd let her. after all, she didn't expect to be comforting you when she planned on seeing you.
"i may be an idol. i may be a celebrity. i may be newjeans' minji a lot of the time. but i'm also your girlfriend, park y/n. the one you met in high school whose life you changed forever the day you asked me to prom." you leaned against her when she pulled you closer as she spoke.
"i stopped believing in love when my parents split. remember when i told you that? but you were there every step of the way. you understood, and you were fine with waiting." minji took a pause to make sure you were still with her, listening.
your eyes were heavy, but your brain couldn’t be more alive.
“y/n, i don't want to be the person that makes their partner feel like they can't talk to them. let me be there for you too, okay? i may not be able to do a lot to fix it, but i'll be there because you shouldn't be facing things alone. not when you have me."
you nodded, letting out the last of your tears on her shoulder while she ran her fingers through your hair.
“so next time, please, please tell me what bothers you.”
you never gave a clear response, just your sobs slowing down as she held you. minji would later on regret not noticing this.
a few minutes later, after you calmed down, you pulled away to finally fix your eyes on hers.
"thank you. and i still owe you an apology. for how i was the past couple of weeks.”
“you really don’t have to y/n.”
“well, you say that now after i told you. but what i did was still such… an ass move, and i should’ve told you what was going on because you deserved to know with the way it affected you too.”
minji gave you a smile. a small smile that held the largest emotions a human could ever feel. she leaned against your side, head on your left shoulder with her arm around your waist.
“it’s okay…”
“i love you.”
three words. eight letters. the first time it was ever said between the two of you.
on the inside, you were a little shocked. if your relationship was a sports game, no one would bet on minji saying it first. but she did. and that just made those special words mean a little more than they already did.
you wrapped your left arm around her shoulders and rested your head on hers, giving the top of her head a kiss before saying it back.
“i love you too.”
flash forward and we’re taking on the world together. and there’s a drawer of my things at your place.
a couple months later, you felt on top of the world, and so did minji. you found a higher paying stay-at-home job, your sister got better miraculously quick, and your grades were stellar. for minji, newjeans had just released another hit mini album, and it was played everywhere you went. in the store, at the mall, on tiktok, on the radio. everywhere.
eventually, you two found a free spot on both of your schedules, and used it to have sleepovers at your apartment or her dorm. she’d always prefer staying at yours though. one of the few times you stayed at hers, the second you left, hanni and hyein were teasing her endlessly about… well, usual couple stuff.
this night was one of those sleepover nights. the two of you just finished dinner and were cuddling on the sofa, trying to decide on a movie to watch.
“mean girls?”
“didn’t we watch that last week?” minji reasoned out, looking at you with a questioning face.
“uhm… horror?”
“i don’t mind.”
you hummed and browsed through the horror collection your streaming site had. it took you a while to find a movie, you and minji each always had a minor problem with whatever came up.
“oh hey this one looks fun. zom-“
“did i ever tell you the full story of my parents?”
“ha?”
you looked at her with a rather surprised expression on your face. sure, she’s told you all about being a child of divorced parents and how it affected her. but you never bothered to ask more about it in fear of her discomfort.
“well… no. i wanted you to bring things up at your own pace.”
it felt like a silent agreement that maybe you two were going to drop the movie for a little “deep talk” moment.
“my dad went m.i.a., well, sort of did, on my mom.” she began, you sat cross-legged beside her, reaching for her hand to play with while she muttered a quick ‘thanks’. it was your little show of comfort.
her parents was a subject that you two didn’t bring up very often. she’d mention them once in a while, like when you were preparing a dish that reminded her of her mom’s cooking, or when you came over to help fix hyein’s bike like her dad used to do for her. but it was never in the subject of the divorce. you two always had more to talk about when you were together anyways.
“he lost a lot of the money in their savings, and he’d never talk to my mom about it thinking he could cover it up soon enough. mom was convinced he was cheating and was sending money to another girl. even after my dad explained everything she just… went and did what she did. until he caught her and… well, you know the rest.”
minji was surprisingly calm throughout the whole storytelling. you figured it must’ve been from keeping it in for so long, finally letting the old wounds heal.
“wow…”
“yeah, ‘wow’.”
“i’m sorry, i just…” you paused and grabbed her other hand, holding them both closely within your palms. “do you think if your dad was honest from the beginning things would’ve been different?”
“i-… well…”
“nevermind, sorry that was int-“ you dropped her hands and ran yours through your hair, the other covering your mouth in disbelief.
“no no, it’s okay.” she reached for your hands and they were intertwined once again. “i think things would’ve turned out the same. it probably would’ve just… took a longer time.”
“i guess… since your mom practically ignored your dad after he explained…”
“yup. i believe things happen for a reason.”
“really? i’m 50/50 on that.” you looked up at her with a questioning look.
“well, for one, it led me to you.” she gazed in your eyes, her hands soft and gently cradling yours side to side. you looked at her with amazement. since when was she making the moves with all the cheesy lines?
“okay… so i’m not 50/50… maybe 70/30.” “dork.” “your dork?” “…” “sayyy it…” “…” “you know you wanna…”
“my dork.”
“hehehe…”
with a victorious grin on your face, you pinched her right cheek, something she both hated and loved. rolling her eyes, she positioned herself to lay her head on your crossed legs while your hands automatically fixed her hair to keep her face clear.
“god you’re so-“
“lovable? i know… it’s crazy.”
“well…”
“oh, we were serious?”
“yes, seriously, y/n. there are times i think about that night by the river.”
“that night by the river…”
“when i told you i believed in love again, after my parents. because of you.” she opened her eyes and looked up at you like you were a constellation in the night sky. eyes wide and full of wonder.
“i know what you’re talking about, i didn’t forget, don’t worry.” you smiled, tucking a strand of hair that went astray behind her ear.
“when things get hard i think of that night, and how… i don’t know. you know that feeling when something means so much, and it’s so good, feels so right, almost too perfect, you’re just scared it’ll slip away?”
“mmhm. of course. that’s how i felt about this book i was reading. things were going so well at the beginning, like it wa-… continue though.”
“sometimes i’m scared we’ll slip away.”
“what?!”
“i mean like! it’s just a tiny… irrational fear in the back of my head.”
“ell… good thing that won’t happen!”
“how are you always so sure about things?”
i tell my secrets and you figure out why i’m guarded. you say,
“i get why you’re worried, okay? but we’ll never make your parents’ mistakes.”
she sat up straight to give you a proper hug, or, well, she more or less just threw herself on you. not that you were complaining, you loved her bear hugs.
“you and i… we talk things out. we work well that way, right?”
“yeah.”
“i love you. and thank you for letting me love you.”
“i love you too. so so much.”
and we got bills to pay. we got nothing figured out, when it was hard to take, this is what i thought about.
throughout your relationship, you two came across a couple, or well, several bumps along the road. but it was always something you two had dealt with before. even if it wasn’t, you were beginning to feel comfortable sharing the weight you carried on your shoulders with minji; talking about the usual late night shifts, a terror professor, etc.
communication was one of the last things your relationship with minji lacked.
until one fateful evening, you received a phone call from your brother. one you wished you never had to hear. one no one ever deserved to hear.
before he spoke, something about it already felt wrong. the combination of muffled sirens, crying from who you surely knew was from your sister, and conversation between who you assumed were adults, was straight eery. a shiver ran down your spine, realizing the nature of the news.
and you were right.
you could feel your hand shake as he spoke with a stutter,
“noona… it’s about… about d-dad… h-he… he… did it to hims-himself… he-he w-went out… and to-told us not to follow. a-and, and then we- we heard… we heard a r-really… r-really loud noise… n-noona… wh-when… when are you coming b-back?”
what?
who?
how?
your father. he shot himself in your neighborhood’s park.
and you’ve yet to understand why. why he’d choose to abandon his family. why he suddenly switched from the hardworking man who’d endure hell for his family, to a man who chose to escape his troubles.
after consoling your brother and the rest of your family on the phone, you packed your bags and took a taxi the next day. heading straight back to your hometown, a much smaller and rural area compared to the skyscraping city of seoul.
you ran straight to your parents’ room as soon as you arrived, your bags dropped and forgotten by the conjoined living room and kitchen. there was no time to reminisce the warmth, comfort, and love that came with the childhood home you haven’t seen in years.
as soon as you stepped foot in your parents’ room, your younger sister, who was much taller than the last time you saw her, ran straight into your arms, almost knocking you over. it didn’t take long for your younger brother to follow, his added weight finally pushing you to fall butt first to the fortunately, carpeted floor.
you rubbed their backs as soothingly as you possibly could while they started dampening your shirt with tears. in a way, having them in your embrace comforted you the same way you comforted them. you shed your own fair share of tears, hugging them even tighter when they’d take deep breaths and wail.
you also needed to process whatever the hell just happened.
a few minutes later, once your siblings had calmed down, you slowly stood up from the floor and approached your mother who was sorting out papers on what used to be your parents’ shared bed. the mattress dipped as you sat beside her. you wrapped your arms around her frame, giving her a warm hug.
her pain was silent, and you wished it wasn’t so you’d at least know she had an output, but at the same time, you both knew she held it together for your siblings’ sake. she gave your forehead a kiss and ruffled your hair, muttering a soft “you’ve been eating well.”
she was just happy to see her baby home.
the next couple of days were dull and grey. it was the only word you could use to describe it. your mother would head out to deal with government papers, your siblings stayed at home with modular work as permitted by the school after what had happened, and you picked up a small full-time job at a bakery as a cashier.
in a private conversation with your mother, late at night when your siblings were fast asleep, she explained to you the law of debt and inheritance in simple terms. it was difficult, but most definitely much needed for you to at least grasp understanding on why your father did what he did.
“i know what your first thoughts were going to be. and he wasn’t being a selfish person, y/n. he never was and he never will be. in this province specifically, debt isn’t passed down to your heirs. your father… he… he borrowed a lot of money, y/n. and we thought we could pay it back over the agreed 3 years. it was taking longer than expected, and they began looking for your dad with threats that… i’d rather not share with you.”
“wait what? what about the money i’ve been sending? did it help? did you use it?”
“of course we did, y/n. we don’t want your hard work going to waste. we used it for yoonseo and junseo’s tuition. there was an increase that wasn’t in our… scope.”
“fucking school…”
“hey… listen. do you understand things a little better now?”
“…yes.”
“repeat to me what you understand.”
“dad… didn’t want them coming after me… us.”
“yes.”
“i… i don’t understand how you’re so… calm about it right now, ma. did you know? did he tell you he would?”
“he didn’t. we fought about it, actually. i couldn’t believe all that… nonsense he was saying.”
“oh… i’m sorry. i’m sorry i thought he-“
“it’s okay, y/n. and i know you. i know you, yoonseo, and junseo. it’s okay to not be okay right now. i want you to feel that. let it out. cry, scream, take a walk, do anything. let the pain pass through. i’ll be here to make sure you’ll be alright.”
“but we want to be here for you too ma…”
“you will be there for me when you feel better. but right now, you’re my children, and i’m your mom. i want to make sure you’re okay first.”
and for the rest of the night, you silently wept against your mother’s shoulder as she held you tight against her chest, the same way she did the day you were born. you were always your mother's child at the end of the day.
since the day you left til that night, your focus was on yourself and your family. comforting your siblings when your mom couldn’t, helping around the house, and searching for more jobs dirt-paying jobs you could take, for you didn’t care as long as it’d help fill the gap your father left.
your focus was solely on the grief held over yourself and your family, that somehow, you had completely forgotten about your life in the city.
the life with kim minji in it.
on her side of the world, minji was struggling. newjeans was still a popular and well-received group with global success, but their growth was exceeding expectations, and that meant that the hate wave had only gotten stronger.
as their leader, minji was the supporting pillar, the foundation of sanity for the rest of the girls. when one of them had the need to cry or rant, they’d go to her, and she’d hold that responsibility willingly out of love and care for them.
but newjeans’ leader minji, is human.
newjeans’ leader minji, is kim minji.
a 20-year-old girl facing the world’s backlash and carrying the weight of her members’ hurt alongside her own on her back.
she wasn’t meant to deal with all of that alone.
where was kim minji’s supporting pillar? where was her foundation of sanity?
where were you?
where were you when she needed you the most?
and i remember that fight, 2:30 am, ‘cause everything was slipping right out of our hands. i ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street.
things have calmed down a bit. you and your family decided it was best for you to go back to the city as it was where you’d earn the most for your work. you hated saying goodbye to them, especially at a time where it was best where you were all together. but you and your family didn’t have the luxury of choice. you and your family couldn’t afford to lose the opportunity.
on the 2-hour long taxi ride home, you finally decided to charge your phone. you hadn’t realized how you completely deserted it the moment you arrived at your childhood home. leaving it on the car seat, you decided to take a nap to get rid of the headache that was building up. whether it was from the anxiety of being away from your family after what happened, or the pressure of having your family’s financial support come mostly from you, you needed an escape, even if it was just for 2 hours.
you weren’t sure how or what you felt. you knew most would be sad. grief-struck and lost. and you did feel that in a way, when your family held a small ceremony at the memorial center because it was all you could afford. it was just you, your mom, your siblings, and a few neighbors who knew your parents.
that was the hardest you ever let yourself mourn, the loudest you ever let yourself cry, and after that, you felt empty. your chest and your stomach ached, but there was nothing else to feel. your head, on the other hand, felt heavy. like it was rammed against a cement wall and forced to carry the weight of hardbound books.
the moment you picked yourself up from your wallowing in sorrow, the weight of responsibility crashed into you all at once. like being thrown anvils to carry on your back, every step you took wherever you went. your father wasn’t just one of your family’s sources of income, he also stood as a figure of support for your siblings and your mom while you were away. you were angry at him for leaving you, but you beat yourself around into understanding that it wasn’t an escape.
it was about 2am by the time you arrived at the small apartment complex. an inconvenient decision that may have seemed senseless, but before you insisted in spending as much time as you could with your family before you were required to report to work the next day.
and so here you were, backpack in hand, unlocking the door to your apartment late at night.
seeing the living room and kitchen lights on alarmed you. you were sure you turned everything off before you left. your electricity bills were going to be horrendous that month.
you settle your bag down on the floor and bent over to untie your shoes.
“oh… you decided to come back?”
that voice.
kim minji.
hearing her voice again felt fresh. but it felt fresh for only one reason.
you ignored her the whole time you were away. you didn’t tell anyone anything, not even you friends in the city.
minji’s tone was firm. it wasn’t sharp and cold like the time she came over to confront you about missing your dates.
it was firm, but it was also vulnerable. the night she confronted you her voice lacked all the emotion in the world. tonight, it was full of it. you couldn’t tell if she was worried, angry, disappointed, sad, maybe everything and in between.
“where were you?”
there it was. the burning question of the night.
unlike last time, minji didn’t bother approaching you. she stayed seated on the living room couch, her head turned to face you at the front door.
“minji, listen. i-“ you walked towards her, approaching the living room couch with caution from what you could pick up in her voice.
“y/n i was in pain… did you know that? the past few weeks have been horrible… and before i can even begin to talk about why, i have to worry about whether you were even alive or not!”
“i’m sorry! okay, i’m sorry!”
you were defensive, and it came out like you were throwing around apologies for a band-aid solution, when that really wasn’t the case. you just didn’t have it in your heart to tell her what happened.
“we had to cancel 2 fansigns because of threats we were getting, did you even know that, y/n?”
no, you didn’t. you weren’t aware of how far your girlfriend’s career had gone for the group to be receiving that kind of treatment. even before your dad passed.
“…no.”
“and that’s just… the tip of the fucking iceberg… so i ran here thinking i’d find you. because, y/n, i know for a fact you’re my safe place. but you weren’t even fucking there…”
“i’m sorry…” you muttered, your hands clasped together as you stood in front of her.
“you weren’t answering calls, you weren’t responding to texts. from me or any of the girls! i asked my manager to get in contact with your coworkers! fuck, i even asked some of our high school friends… but none of them knew where you were! do you know how sick my stomach felt?” she looked up at you with tears in her eyes. one of the few times you’ve ever seen her cry, and somehow, it always had something to do with you.
it made you feel sick.
“i’m so sorry…”
“and before you fucking arrived, for a moment i really thought you were going to just leave everything like my dad.”
after all the pain she’s shared with you?
“minji i-“
“but a part of me knew, or wanted to know you’d never do that. like you said, ‘we’d never make my parents’ mistakes’. but in that moment it felt like you did. like we did.”
“i’m sorry… i wasn’t thinking…”
“i think we need a fucking break y/n.”
she stood up.
what?
“w-what? minji what do you mean w-why a-“
“this isn’t the first time you just disappeared on me, don’t you get it? the first time it happened i had to confront you because otherwise you’d just let it slide and it’d probably happen again within the next few months.”
she walked to the dining room, away from the living room. it was closer to the apartment entrance.
“that’s not true.”
“when i told you about my parents, it was because i thought i had finally found something different with you.”
“and we did! we are! we’re not like them…”
she stood by the door, hand on the knob.
“you keep disappearing on me, y/n. i don’t know what to believe anymore.”
and just like that, she dropped the spare keys to your apartment on your kitchen counter, and left your apartment unit.
you knew better than to let her go. you knew better to let the love of your life go. you knew better than to let her, a celebrity, run out in the middle of the night, with no security, and god knows who or what out in the streets of the area you stayed in.
braced myself for the goodbye, ‘cause that’s all i’ve ever known.
for minji, she had no idea what she was doing, but she knew couldn’t take another second in your damned apartment. the apartment she stayed in the weeks she was waiting for you to come back. it reminded her of the times she felt like her mom, desperately waiting for her dad to come back to her. it reminded her of how she felt like her dad during the first month of the divorce, and how he kept his hopes high telling her and her brother that things would get better because their mom would always come back, when she didn’t. she hated that apartment because it reminded her of why she hated love. why she stopped believing in love.
she hated that apartment because it was yours, and you showed her how to believe in love again, and you made her believe you two would be different.
if that was so, then why did you leave her feeling like things were going to end the same way her parents did?
she couldn’t take it anymore. how could she fully commit to someone who’d leave her out of the loop. someone who can’t at least try to share part of their world with her. someone who, after seeing all the sides and versions of her, could still get up and leave without a word.
you cursed under your breath for minji being so long-legged. it didn’t take long for her to get to your apartment building’s lobby, but timing was by your side. for once, it felt like maybe the world wasn’t against you.
the scene was cinematic. you grabbed her wrist from behind her, and pulled her by the arm, back towards you. back to you where you knew she belonged.
“i’m sorry, and i promise i’ll tell you everything. and i know i left with no warning, no sign. i know that it was best to tell you. but i promise i wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t something as serious as that.”
you gently reached over to hold her other hand in yours. hopefully it was enough to not have her run away again.
“i don’t know how many sorry’s i have left in me, but whatever that amount is, i know, won’t be enough. but please, minji, i’m begging you now, please don’t leave. i know it’s been hard, it’s been difficult for me too. fuck, it’s been hell the past few weeks and not a single second of it has felt real, but i need you. i need you to stay.”
you took a deep inhale. you hadn’t realized you weren’t breathing throughout your mini speech.
“because right now it feels like i’ve lost everything, and i can’t take it if i lost you. and i know… i know, i sound like a guilt-tripping asshole right now but that’s really... you mean a lot. you mean so much… you mean so fucking much to me, minji, and i know that’s not what you felt when i disappeared, but it’s the truth, and i-“
your legs gave in. you were exhausted, but you weren’t going to stop until you knew she’d stay.
you knelt on the floor, in front of her, holding her hands above your head.
god, you looked so ridiculously desperate. but you didn’t care. not an inch of your body felt a bit of shame. you knew minji was worth everything you had.
“i love you. i love you. i love you so much. and i don’t know how else to say this without sounding like a fucking asshole, but i know you love me too, and i just need you to hear me out, before you decide to leave. and if you still want to go after, then i-. i wouldn’t blame you, and i’d let you, but please… please.” you whispered out the last of your words, your sobs echoing through the empty, dim-lit lobby.
she’d never seen you like this before.
not once in the several years of being your friend or your girlfriend.
and you were right, she loved you so much. just as much as you did her.
and that was enough for her to listen.
“get up.” she spoke so softly, you could’ve missed it if you weren’t listening for any response.
you scrambled, shuffled onto your feet, and finally came face-to-face with the girl you loved.
it took everything in you to not hold her, kiss her, and comfort her, when you knew you were the cause of her pain and suffering.
but if god made angels roam earth, you were convinced minji was one of them.
she almost catapulted towards you, causing you to stumble backwards until your back met a wall. your arms automatically wrapped around her waist, like it was second nature, or maybe because it was.
you heard her sobs, and you ran your fingers through her hair like she’d do for you. rub her back comfortingly like when you held your siblings in your arms, her tears dampening your clothes the same way theirs did.
you let her be, and waited patiently until she decided to speak. her face rested against your shoulder so her voice was slightly muffled,
“i thought you’d leave.”
you felt your chest tighten in guilt.
“i thought i did something wrong, or that you were tired of me. tired of dating someone with a job like mine, packed up, and left.”
then, you took me by surprise. you said,
“i’m sorry i made you feel that way.”
you kissed the top of her head and rested your cheek against it.
“never again. i promise, and i say it out loud this time.  i’ll never leave you alone.”

midnight quarrel pt.1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
—y/n won't stop practising and minji knows she needs to do something
pairing: kim minji x 6th newjeans member!reader
genre: hurt comfort
tags: minji is just worried about y/n, overworked and stubborn y/n, get up has hard choreos, y/n is '04 liner but younger than minji by 10 days :D, y/n is about the same height as minji.
warning: cursing, self-hatred, overworking, injuries?
Tumblr media
"did we run out of trainees that we debuted someone as slow as you, y/n?"
what?
"ssaem, i don't think that's quite necessary."
you were just about to get drowned by your other voice when minji interrupts your performance director.
"why wasn't it?"
right.
probably seeing there's no response from minji, the pd turns away from you and faces minji instead.
"she's delaying the whole group's progress. if she keeps on going like this, you guys will be affected too, you know that right, kim minji?"
now why is ssaem picking a fight with minji?
"i'm truly sorry, ssaem. i'll practice harder and longer."
you hate yourself already, and it is not needed for you to see minji getting told off because of you.
"same old sentences, y/n."
you swallow down the sarcastic remark of your ssaem and bow again.
Tumblr media
it is currently half past three in the morning but newjeans's practice room is still occupied with loud music and heavy breathing.
the only difference is that you are alone now while your members are most probably catching their sleep. you managed to convince your manager to stay a bit longer, albeit she told you not to overwork yourself, which you surely did.
the last beat of the fourth song arrives, and you fall on the floor lifelessly. your chest erratically going up and down as you try to catch your breath. your vision is getting blurry from fatigue, but you know your dance isn't perfect enough. your mind knows it very well, yet your body is trying to go against your will.
still, you roll around before trying to push yourself up with your weary arms before you feel someone's arms circle around yours before pulling you up. defensively, you turn around, a bit too fast that you can feel your head spinning even worse.
"who-"
"y/n."
a stern call of your name forces you to open your eyes, meeting minji's worried ones.
when did she get inside?
"m-minji..."
you wobble around a bit more before she fully catches you, holding your shoulder tight.
"are you crazy, y/n?"
that sentence should've gotten you mad but the worry lingering in her voice gets your tear glands working faster as you feel tears pooling in your eyes.
"i told you to ask for our help, didn't i?"
a lone tear falls across your face before you harshly wipe it off, not wanting to look weaker than you already are right now.
"it isn't that easy, min."
you look away upon seeing her frown.
"don't you trust us?"
you bite your lips but the words slip out eventually.
"well, don't you trust me?"
a few minutes pass by and the heavy silence is enough of an answer for you. enough to switch your sadness to anger and disappointment.
"exactly."
you huff out before backing away, walking towards your bag, and putting your stuff inside, although it looks like you're shoving your stuff inside.
"y/n."
"stop, minji."
a pang on your chest.
"i'll stop practising today as you wanted so i want you to let me be."
and another one.
hurriedly, you turn everything off, and seeing that you still love your member, you grab her wrist without even looking at her before dragging her outside the room.
you are impressed that she still won't say or do anything, not even while you are locking up the room.
"don't wait for me."
were the last words you gave her before parting ways, needing to wind off your broken heart over her distrust of you.
it hurts more when you realize that she still won't say anything to at least objects the fact that she did not trust you.
Tumblr media
it is like the world is against you today.
or is it that it has always been?
nevertheless, you tighten your hold on your padding jacket as the strong wind gushes over you, the cold temperature seeping inside your bones.
why would you stay outside at this abandoned park if you know it's cold, right?
but you know your status so not risking getting caught by any of your fans inside a random convenience store, you settled down at the nearest park, glad that no one is here.
the sun is almost rising but you don't plan on going back to the dorm just yet. thank goodness you don't have any schedule for the upcoming two days. the pain in your heart still lingers and you don't want to cause a scene inside the girls' safe abode. your phone was so loud with notifications that you decided to turn it off about an hour ago.
but you turn it on back, waiting for the burst of notification sounds but instead, a call comes right in.
you look at the caller id and sigh before answering.
"dani?"
"unnie! where are you?'
you notice the loud background noise and pull the phone away for a bit.
5:32 a.m.
why are they being so loud already?
"everything alright there, dani?"
"obviously not, unnie. minji unnie is crying and you are... wherever you are, right now!"
minji is crying?
oh no.
"wait, i'm on my way."
"hurry up, unnie. or else you might need to see us having a crying fest."
you chuckle a bit upon hearing dani's way of lightening the mood before ending the call.
you guess you need to come home at last.
Tumblr media
"y/n!"
you shut your eyes tight as hanni's loud screech of your name pierced your ear.
the girl pulls you into a hug and you notice how there are no sight of kim minji at all.
"where is she?"
your voice slows as to not let her know you ask about her. thanks to hanni's tact, she quietens down her voice too.
"she's in her room. haerin got waken up by her sobbing on her bed, that's when dani realized you aren't home."
you nodded in understanding and thanked her but as you were about to walk away, she grips your wrist, tight.
"i asked her this too earlier but she won't budge so did you guys fight, y/n?"
did we?
you clenched your teeth.
"i'm not trying to be immature here but i was the one who got hurt earlier."
you say truthfully with a frown on your face as you can feel your heart hurting physically when the scene a few hours ago is repeated in your mind.
you perceived how worries fill hanni's gaze on you.
"are you alright, y/n?"
right.
are you?
"i don't know hanni but i can't just ignore the fact that she cried."
"y/n, i think it's better if you don't go to her. i love you as much as i love her and i won't let you get hurt again."
hanni is right. you're afraid that you can't control your emotions if you catch sight of minji right now. you hug her your gratefulness before going inside your shared room with dani.
you took about an hour to arrive at the dorm earlier so it's safe to say that your roommate is back in her deep sleep. you put your bag away and throw yourself onto the bed, slowly drifting into your dreamland as the fatigue from overworking earlier catches you back.
Tumblr media
you woke up a few hours later but there's still no sign of minji even after you got out of your room to eat your brunch. it's bothering you so much but at the same time, you don't feel like seeing her face either. nonetheless, you asked hanni again.
"pham, is she still in her room?"
"yup. i went inside earlier and it looked like she was sleeping but who knows."
you contemplate if you should go see her but hanni is quick to interrupt you.
"if you want to go to her, just remember you have the right to be upset too, okay?"
warmth fills you up upon listening to hanni's words.
"since when are you good with your words, pham?"
you chuckle as she smacked your head.
"stop ruining the mood, y/n!"
just then, a soft low voice resonates through the kitchen.
"y/n?"
it was minji's. the deafening silence consuming the space is agitating you, and most probably hanni too, since you catch her small frown.
"should i give you guys some space?"
"stay!", "yes."
oh, now the silence is getting even more jarring.
but before hanni could decide on that, minji rushes to you and quickly drags you to her room.
you waited for her to lock the door before your anger wins over you.
"what the hell, minji?!"
you really don't want to shout at her but your rage and mortification over her silence last night is taking over yourself.
"we need to talk."
you heard how her voice wavered and how she can't even meet your gaze and that's all you need to know both of you are not ready to talk about what happened yet.
“i cant talk right now, minji.”
“what do you mean by that?”
your chest starts heaving frantically as your anger is getting over your mind.
"you hurt me so much and what? you expect me to just be alright about it after a few hours, kim?"
you saw how hurt flashed over her eyes when you called her by her last name. still, you ignored it knowing that if she still insists to talk, you are going to hurt her further.
"we are going to talk later, minji."
you added before reaching over the doorknob behind her before you feel a weak tug on your shirt's sleeve.
"y/n, please."
you watch how minji is on the verge of breaking down and strangely, the sight of that washes down most—not all—of your rage. Immediately, an overwhelming wave of guilt crashes your heart.
maybe, just maybe.
you grab her and pull her into your embrace right away. it seems like she's been holding those tears for so long from how hard she's sobbing in your arms right now.
you frown as you feel your heart aching, unconsciously clenching minji's shirt a bit too tight. it is very unusual for minji to cry so it hurts more that you need to witness her crying because of you. she rarely cries, at least not in front of you or the other members.
noticing it, minji looks slightly to the left, gasping silently when she sees tears on your face. you try to hide your face by looking away, but you only cry harder when all she does is hug you tighter, this time with rubs on your back.
after a long silence filled with efforts of comforting each other, minji speaks first.
“i'm sorry, y/n. i should have denied that and told you that i trust you…i know.”
the problem is that she didn't.
your other voice makes you felt like you couldn't breathe. anger, frustration, and hurt are filling up your heart, squeezing it until tears fall from your eyes even more.
“then why didn't you?”
you bite your lips, even harder to the point you can feel the iron taste of blood on your tongue when you feel minji's hold on you weakens.
"i—"
it stops there. neither minji or you say anything after a few minutes.
"i told you. we shouldn't talk about this yet."
you break both the silence and the hug, not failing to notice how minji's frown deepens.
"i'm truly sorry, minji, but let's talk later."
with that, you hurriedly grab the doorknob again, scared that minji will try anything to halt you from leaving. your heart jumped when you are met face-to-face with hanni's worried figure. hurriedly, you wipe your tears before retreating to your room.
"unnie! are you alright? were you crying?"
unfortunately, your roommate notices your entrance, and apparently your tears-stained cheeks too. dani springs up immediately from her bed before pulling you into her warm hug.
"me and minji kinda have a fight, i guess."
you try to say it as nonchalantly as possible but dani knows better that you and minji crying is not to be taken lightly.
"do you want to rant about it to me or do you want your favorite vanilla latte right now?"
an amused chuckle slips out of your lips.
"mo dani, you sweet girl."
thanks to danielle, your whole body feels lighter and for the nth times, you agree on her sunshine nickname.
"yeah, yeah, i know i am now, choose!"
"but she's so bright that you can't risk making her gloomy by your problems.
"vanilla latte it is then."
"aww, no spilling the tea then, i guess."
you watch as dani walks out of your room to get your vanilla latte and maybe, just maybe, you should tag along to get some fresh air. you follow her closely from behind after making sure she knows you're tagging along. from the corner of your eyes, you can see both minji and hanni going out of minji and haerin's shared room just right before you step outside of the house.
you just hope that minji could think thoroughly and talk to you when she's fully ready.

PICNIC With My cat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kang haerin x f!reader
Warning: Just cute.. kisses...that's all I think?..hyein teases you two (nothing suggestive PLEASE) bad writing again >_<
summary: Danielle's idea of a picnic for you and your grumpy girlfriend haerin! At least she agreed! (she was forced
haerin is green and you are purple
Tumblr media
—Let's go haerin!" you murmur as you pull haerin's hands while she is lazily on the sofa while closing her eyes and frowning, next to her is Hyein trying to push her "unnie...stop being lazy!"
You hear haerin purr lazily "I don't want to get up..our picnic can be right here on the dorm floor.." she murmurs and throws herself more on the sofa while hyein and you snort at the same time and you roll your eye
“I'll give all the tomatoes to danielle to eat then!" and then like a flash you see haerin open her eyes "good..I'll go then..but it's only because you and hyein are forcing me.." she murmurs and looks away I glance at Hyein who gives a smile and claps "YEAH! WE DID IT!" and gets up from the sofa doing a dance that was definitely danielle's suggestion
haerin squints her eyes and looks away from hyein "I want to eat the tomatoes, let's go" and then she simply gets up and heads towards the door "I'll carry you this time, I don't want to fall like before" before leaving the door leaving you and hyein look at each other then hyein bursts into laughter and you roll your eyes pretending to feel offended "it's just her personality, she wants to carry me!" you mumble and grab the basket of food "I'm telling the truth!" and you just hear hyein murmur in agreement before opening the door and walking out in search of haerin
"Wait for me haerin!" you mumble as you run to her and she's already on the bike waiting for you to get on "hurry up!" She murmurs and you roll your eyes and walk towards her, placing the food in the bicycle basket and then getting on the back of the bike "hold on to my waist" Haerin murmurs as she adjusts the food basket in front of her and you do what she asked, then she takes the get off the ground and start pedaling
It doesn't take long to arrive, when you arrive at the place it's quite empty, there are just a few babies playing with their parents and some ducks in the lake, when you get off the bike and get the basket with food you wait for Haerin to pull over the bike and pick it up. her hand pulling her to the place where you will put the towel without giving her time to complain, you can see her murmur and blush a little as she lets you take her to the place
"oooh...it's so beautiful.." you murmur as you give Haerin the basket to hold and take the towel and place it on the floor, sitting down and then taking Haerin's hand to put the food on the towel, while you do this haerin sits down and adjusts herself comfortably, facing you, when you finish and look at haerin she is so focused on watching you and thinking about life that she forgets that you are looking at her too, when she realizes she looks away and a little mockery comes out of her lips while she looks at the food and looks for the tomato
tomato..." she mutters unconsciously and takes the tomato and puts a whole one in her mouth, biting into it "that's your favorite thing, right..." you mutter while watching her eat it so quickly as if she were afraid you'd want to eat it too , but then you are surprised, she takes two small tomatoes from the bag and offers them to you, extending her hand and looking at you while you look on in surprise "eat...hm...now" You smile and mumble a small "thank you" as you take it from her hands and shove it in your mouth, and you swear you can see a small smile on her face before she turns away to eat more tomatoes.
You then slide a little to her side and you can see her staring at you blankly as you settle into her and put your head on her shoulder, you can feel her heart racing, but she continued with her monotonous expression while eating tomatoes
“hyein said we looked cute" you murmur softly as you look at the sky with beautiful clouds "I think you're actually cute" haerin murmurs indifferently and then blinks a few times and looks away at you when he feels one of his shoulders shaking for you laughing
Why did you say that?..” you mumble between small laughs and get up from her shoulder looking at her now and she stays silent, so you just smile and give haerin a soft kiss on the cheek, you can see how she blushes and eats the tomatoes to disguise it while looking away
haerin doesn't respond, but it's okay, she always does that and it doesn't mean she hated it, so you look at the sky and smile "that looks like bunnies..." you say softly when you see a cloud and haerin looks and shakes his head positively and then looks at you, but you don't notice and continue looking at the clouds
until soft, cold lips like haerin's are attached to yours, that didn't feel right, it's very rare for haerin to initiate a kiss with you, in public.
you feel one of haerin's hands curl around the back of your neck and you give her a smile and continue kissing her, she smells like tomatoes.. when you pull away she has the smallest smile possible but at least she's smiling so you give one smile bigger "I love you haerin" and she blushes and looks away as if she was thinking a little, then murmurs "me too.."

You smiled as you walked out of the bakery, bungeoppang in one hand, with Minji's arm in the other. She had taken you to a bakery after practice, offering to buy you whatever you wanted as a way to apologize for yesterday. "Which ones did you get?" She gently took the bag from your hands, opening it to peek inside.
"I got six custard and four red bean since I know Hyein doesn't really like red bean." Minji nodded, looking both ways before guiding you across the street.
"About yesterday-" You cut her off with a shake of your head, beaming up at her.
"It's fine. I forgive you." She smiled, pulling you closer to her. "But," she looked at you expectantly, giving you her undivided attention. "you can apologize to Hanni and Haerin. I'm sure they didn't appreciate you accusing them of being a homewrecker." She groaned playfully, holding the back of her hand to her forehead dramatically.
"Fine." She mumbled, looking over at you with a grin. "For you."
Tumblr media
"For what?" Minji glared at Haerin who had a smug smile on her face.
"For accusing you of flirting with Y/N." Minji had already apologized to Hanni, who accepted her apology only after she'd checked with you to see if it was okay. Minji looked over to you, who gave her a thumbs up in return. You walked away from them and headed into your room, seeing a large bouquet laying on your bed with a note.
'i'm so so sorry for what happened yesterday. let me take you on a date?'
You turned around to see Minji in the doorway behind you, a nervous look on her face. "It's fine if you don't want to. But I want to try to mend this between us." You grinned, pulling her into your arms. It'd been weeks since you two had gone on a date, Minji always being too busy to take you out. "We have to go somewhere lowkey, like a small restaurant, if that's okay with you?" You nodded, deciding that you'd take anything you could get with her.
"That's perfect! I'll get changed now." She shook her head, reaching out to grab your arm. You flinched, instinctively pulling away from her. "Sorry," you mumbled, reaching out to take her hand.
"Don't apologize. If anything, I should be the one apologizing." She tugged you out of the room, grabbing her wallet from the counter. "We're going out!" You looked over to Hanni as she tilted her head, giving you a thumbs up as if to ask if you were okay. You nodded, smiling as you realized that it had been your first genuine response in a while. Minji guided you out onto the busy streets, taking you behind a building. You nervously looked over to her, Minji gently squeezing your hand in response.
"Don't worry, it's just a small restaurant through this alleyway." She walked you to a restaurant that had no signs in front and would've seemed like it was abandoned if not for the light peeking under the door. She walked in and we greeted the staff, sitting down at a small booth.
"I'll take the grilled beef intestines and," you paused, trailing your finger down the menu. "And the pork belly with perilla leaves to share." Minji followed with her order, bumping your shoulder with hers after the staff walked away.
"Did you hear about the perilla leaf debate?" You shook your head, taking a sip of your drink. "Okay so, your partner, or me I guess, and a friend are sitting at a table. Then, your friend has two leaves stuck together, and I reach over and help them peel them apart. Would you be jealous, or not?" You shook your head, putting down the glass of water.
"I don't think so. I mean, it wouldn't really bother me at all. You on the other hand..." You joked, Minji playfully pushing your shoulder. The food arrived shortly after and you two quietly ate, Minji's hand coming over to lovingly caress your knuckles now and then.
"We've been practicing for so long for the collab stage for the MAMA awards tomorrow, my feet are so sore. Do you remember yesterday's practice?" You nodded your head slowly, fearing the direction that this conversation was going to go in.
"Yeah, I remember. Are you excited?" She hummed, stuffing a wrap in her mouth.
"Kind of. But," she paused, looking over to you and squeezing your hand again. "I’m trying to put more trust in you. I just don't want everyone pairing you with Liz like they did last time. I get that it's not their fault. They don't know we're dating. But I can't help but feel insecure because they think you two would look better than we would." She pouted, toying with the remnants of food on her plate. You laughed, shaking your head.
"I get it, Minji. I'll make sure to interact with you more that night." You pinched her cheek, leaning over to throw away your trash. She guided you out of the booth, opening the door as you two stepped out. Right as you opened your mouth to speak, Minji's phone started ringing and she looked down to see our manager's name.
"Hold on, I'm going to take this. Go home, it's cold. I'll be right behind you." You released her arm, walking away from her with a small wave.
Wrapping your coat tighter around you, you started smiling as you thought back to Minji's behavior for the past few hours. Before this, you two would've already had a few arguments in the same time that she's spent apologizing. You continued making your way to the dorm, looking up at the building as you felt a breeze penetrate the warm layers of your coat. Maybe this is the start of something new.
Tumblr media
You held your elbows in your palms, nervously bouncing on the balls of your feet. “Y/N, calm down,” Minji whispered to you, caressing your back.
“I can’t!” You whisper-shouted, your eyes nervously darting around the room. “It’s so many people in here!” Minji shook her head, pulling you closer to her.
“Yeah, but you know all of them, right? And despite my bias, Liz and all of IVE are here too.” You nodded, taking a deep breath and looking over to where they were standing. “Just go over there. To calm your nerves.” Your eyes widened, shaking your head.
“I can’t just go over there, Minji! It’s so crowded!” She sighed, grabbing your lower arm and dragging you over to their group.
“Wait, stop-” You were cut off by Rei looking up, and a smile spreading across her face.
“Y/N!” The rest of the girls looked up at you, guiding you into the middle of their circle. You looked back up and Minji was gone, already back and talking to Hyein.
“I haven’t seen you in forever!” Wonyoung held your hands in hers, pulling you into a hug.
“I know! And every time you come around, Liz takes up all of your time!” Leeseo whined, joining in on the hug. You pulled away, your eyes nervously darting back to Minji, only to realize that her eyes weren't on you for once.
"Y/N? Why are you looking like that?" Your head whipped around to see Liz staring at you with a concerned expression.
"Like what?" She pursed her lips, giving you a deadpan expression.
"You know. Like you're scared of Minji or something." You nervously laughed, looking down at your shoes.
"I'm not!" You rushed out, perhaps too quickly to sound natural. "She didn't want me to take too long so we could practice more, so I was just making sure time wasn't up yet." Liz looked over to Yujin, their expressions clearly telling you that they didn't believe your rambling. You stepped backward, moving in the direction of your group. "I should go now. Nice seeing you guys again!" You made a beeline towards the girls, Minji's arm coming to wrap around your shoulders when you stood beside her.
"You okay?" You nodded, relaxing into Minji's touch. They started talking about the stage again as you zoned out, feeling Minji's fingers trace circles on your arm.
"NewJeans to dressing room four!" You heard a voice boom from overhead, and you snapped back to reality, your heart starting to pound as you realized that this moment was real. You walked backstage, holding Minji's arm tight to calm your nerves.
"Relax," she whispered, running her thumb over your knuckles. You took a deep breath, following behind Haerin into the dressing room. You walked over to your changing area, quickly slipping out of your practice clothes and changing into your stage outfit.
"Eight more minutes!"
You ran over to your stylist who was beckoning you over, turning your head to the side so she could fix your hairpiece. "You'll do great, don't worry," she smiled as she fixed your skirt buckle. You felt someone come up behind you, turning your head to see Hanni holding a piece of chocolate in her fingers.
"To calm your anxiety." You took the square of chocolate from her, whispering a thank you as she went and stood at the door.
"NewJeans to center stage one!" You looked up and Minji gave you a reassuring smile, gesturing you over.
"Thank you!" Your group members shouted as you all ran through the door, darting down the halls to your place on stage. "Ready?" You nodded, taking a few deep breaths as you felt the stage begin to rise. You quickly got into position, pushing down your nervousness. You felt a genuine smile spread across your face as you heard the cheers from the crowd. You walked across the stage to stand in your place, feeling your heart start pounding as ELEVEN started playing from the speakers.
"Are you okay?" You saw Liz mouth to you from across the stage. You nodded, digging your nails into your palm when the music switched to WA DA DA.
"You'll do good." Minji lightly pushed you forward into your place beside Haewon.
You smiled at the camera as your part ended, rushing from the center stage as the award show ended. "You did so good!" You turned to see Liz standing beside you.
"I did? I think I was too nervous." She scoffed, playfully pushing you away. While she began showering you in praise for your performance, the cameraman turned his sights towards your interactions. Liz looked up and pointed at the camera, grabbing your shoulders and pressing a kiss to your cheek. You froze for a moment before remembering that you were on camera. Pushing your fear of Minji to the back of your mind, you teasingly bumped her shoulder, covering your cheeks.
She's getting better, so this'll be fine, right?
Tumblr media
"Y/N, what the fuck?" You jumped back from the sink, almost hitting your head on the faucet.
"What?" Minji shoved her phone in your line of sight, the video on the screen becoming a blur from how close it was. You lightly pushed the phone away, your vision focusing on the video from the stage earlier. "Oh! We were just playing around." Minji turned off the water, taking a step closer to you.
"This isn't playing, bro. You were clearly flirting with her! I mean, look at the comments!" She read a few comments to you as you zoned out. "You're not even listening!" You looked up at her, fumbling your words as you tried to find the right thing to say. You'd never seen her this angry before.
"No, it's not like that! It was just for the camera!"
"How many times are you going to say that?" She stepped closer to you as you clutched your face towel in your arms as if it'd protect you. "It's not like that," she mocked you, ripping the towel from your hands. "You have one more chance to explain this shit to me."
"Jiwon..." You trailed off as you saw her eyes widen, a humorless laugh slipping through her lips.
"Jiwon?" She shook her head, turning to walk out of the bathroom. Like something was telling her to turn around, she turned around and grabbed you by the hair, pulling you closer to her. "Since when do you call her Jiwon?"
"Get off of her!" You felt Minji being pulled away from you, looking up to see Hanni standing in the doorway with her mouth open in shock. "I knew she yelled at you sometimes, but I never knew she'd do something like this." Hanni shook her head, pushing past Minji to grab your arm. "The respect I once had for you has gone," she spat, dragging you out of the bathroom.
"Hanni, I'm okay, I promise." She silently walked you into her room, slamming the door closed.
"Do you think I'm buying that anymore?" She turned the lock, beginning to pace around the room. "I tried so hard to ignore the yelling because I know how much you love her. But this is unacceptable, Y/N? How long are you going to let this go on? You know it's only going to get worse right?" You nodded, hanging your head in shame.
"I'm sorry." She sighed, walking over to you to pull you into a hug.
"I'm not mad. You have nothing to apologize for. But I don't wanna see you get hurt again." She stood up, walking over to her dresser. "Change." She left the room, quietly shutting the door behind her. You changed into her clothes, standing in the middle of the room while rubbing your sore scalp. She walked back in a few moments later with medicine and water.
"Y/N." You looked up at her from over the water bottle expectantly. "I know you're just going to go back to her in the morning. But please stay here for the night. Just for her to cool off until the morning." You nodded, admittedly wanting to take any excuse to get away from Minji. As much as you love her, you began to feel like her behavior was getting worse. While she had very high highs, she also had low lows.
"Sleep. The girls will deal with Minji. I'll stay with you all night, I promise." You slipped into her open sheets, letting her wrap you into her warm embrace.
"Thank you, Hanni. I don't know what I could do to repay you."
"Leave her." You laughed, pushing her shoulder with yours. "I'm serious, Y/N. Leave her." You sat up, looking Hanni in the eyes as her tone became more serious. "I could treat you so much better than she does."
"What?"

angst
Tumblr media
dear. my love,
it’s been a while, but i’ve thought about you every day that has passed.
i miss you. so much. sometimes i wonder if things could have been different if you didn’t get drafted into the war. if you didn’t have to fight. if you didn’t have to leave me.
if you didn’t die.
sometimes i pretend you didn’t. sometimes i hold your clothes in my arms and breathe in and close my eyes and pretend you’re next to me. except you’re not. and you’ll never be next to me ever again.
it hurts, minji. it hurts so much. when i lay in bed, and reach over for a hand that’s not there, my chest feels like its going to cave in. you carved a place in my heart, and now that you’re not here, there’s nothing to fill it.
i still can’t believe that life can go on without you, my lost love, my kim minji.
you would’ve told me to move on, but i can’t let go of someone like you.
i’ll love you eternally.
yours forever,
-yn.

why did it have to be you? (pt.1)
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
୨୧ synopsis: after receiving an eviction notice from your landlord, you frantically search for a new place. but to your luck, a friend of a friend is in need of a new roommate. thinking you’ve struck gold, you arrive at your new apartment, just to find out your new roommate is the person you hate most.
୨୧ pairing: nonidol!minji x fem!reader
୨୧ genre: fluff
୨୧ a/n: texts - you / minji | lol i’ve been grinding genshin so i completely forgot abt this. pt.1 of 2 :p
Tumblr media
you think balancing work and school is already hard enough. still, your annoying landlord decides to add to your pile of problems by issuing you a one-week eviction notice. one week! you internally scream as your eyes trace it on the paper. why is this happening to you? as far as you know, you’ve been a good tenant since you first moved in. you don’t recall ever missing a due date for your rent, being loud, or even destroying property. how are you going to find a new place and move out in such a short amount of time?
dropping to the floor and bawling your eyes out, you call your best friend. “dani, wha-what, do i d-do?” you stutter, struggling to form your words. “hey it’s okay, just breathe. tell me what’s wrong?” her voice full of concern. “i just got an e-eviction notice. i’m done f-for.” you continue to swallow your words. “okay, i’m coming over in 20!” she hangs up giving you no choice but to accept her company.
a little while later, you hear your doorbell go off twice. you lazily get up from your couch and walk towards your door. opening it, a smiling danielle stands in front of you, take out occupying both of her hands. “awe, honey you look like a mess.” she commented on your puffy eyes and pink nose. pouting at her, you turn around and she lets herself in. “i figured buying yummy food can overcome all that sadness.” she tells you to sit down as she comfortably maneuvers her way through your kitchen like it's her own.
after stuffing your stomachs, you return to normal forgetting why you were so upset in the first place. “so was it good?” she smiles brightly waiting for your response. “oh dani, dani, food always tastes good when it’s free.” while laughing hysterically at your statement she cuts you off. “anyway what are you going to do with that eviction notice.” you stop and look at her as your big dumb smile fades away. resting your head on the table, your headache comes back. “you’re no fun. why’d you remind me.” she gets up giggling, cleaning up your leftovers. “so what’d you do in your past life that got you this unlucky?”
slumping in your seat, you let out a long groan. “dani what am i going to do?” ruffling your hair in annoyance. “you know i’d let you room with haerin and i if we had more space.” you smile at her, admiring her kind thought. suddenly smacking the table, she releases a heavy gasp. the loud sound surprises you, causing you to fall off your chair. “OMG! i just remembered! i have a friend who’s looking for someone to fill an empty room in her apartment.” your eyes widen in excitement. getting up from the floor, you charge at danielle nearly tripping.
“wait for real?!? this is perfect!” you squeeze her hand, jumping in enthusiasm. “yes! yes! wait here, i’ll hit her up.” letting go of danielle, your heart lightens knowing you might be saved from living in the streets. a smile forms on your lip as you skip back to your couch, waiting for danielle to finish her conversation.
“great news! she says the room is still unoccupied and that she’s thrilled to have a roommate.” she claps her hands in excitement. feeling your legs weaken, you flop to the ground. crawling to danielle’s feet, praising her. “HALLELUJAH!! what would i do without you dani.” chuckling with tears in her eyes, she lightly pats your back. “get up! don’t worry about it.” dusting yourself off, you hop back on your couch sinking into the soft material.
“so what’s my future roomie’s name? is she pretty?” raising your brow, you nudge danielle by the shoulder. she turns to you and stares blankly. “i’m helping you find a new home not setting you up to get your grubby fingers on her.” your jaw drops after hearing what had came out of your friend's mouth. “dani that’s so foul, even for you.” she abruptly stands up reaching for a piece of paper scribbling on it and hands it to you. “her name’s kim minji. you should text her and introduce yourself. and don’t forget to be nice. whether you're homeless or not depends on her.”
not long after danielle eventually leaves. staring at the paper you’re reminded of a kim minji from your past. your blood boils just by remembering previous events associated with the girl. but you knew not to overthink. there’s a slim chance it’s the minji you knew and her name is pretty common anyway, right? finally gaining confidence, you decide to text the number.
“hi is this kim minji?”
surprisingly, she doesn’t take long to respond.
“yea i’m her. you must be y/n right?”
“uhuh ig dani already told u my name”
“yupp, she told me what’s up. i’m sorry you’ve been evicted”
“omg that girl ran her mouth again… that’s embarrassing”
“nooo you’re all good, dw”
“thanks but anyway, i am interested in your spare room :))”
“yes ofc it’s all yours. but slight problem tho”
“mhm? what is it?”
“i’m out of town rn so i can’t give you a tour, i’m sorry. BUT i did prepare a video instead”
“that’s ok! dani seems to trust u so, i’ll be satisfied w/ a video”
*inserts video*
“alrighty i gtg! i’ll see you next week!”
“ty again. i’ll see you!”
after a long difficult week following the same routine of school, work, and packing, it’s finally the last day. you stand by your front door looking at your empty apartment one last time. it’s never been so clean, you thought. trying not to be upset, you replace those thoughts with the features of your new apartment. although you’re sharing it, its blueprint is too good to be true. you fell in love with it through a screen, so you can’t even imagine how you’ll feel seeing it in person.
you and minji agreed to let the movers move most of your belongings a day early, so you can just settle in once you arrive. you’ve been texting back and forth the entire week. she seems so nice and thoughtful that finally hearing her voice and seeing what she looks like makes you anxious.
arriving at the given address, you struggle to make your way up the stairs. one hand dragging your suitcase against the steps and the other gripping on the railing, keeping you steady. panting you reach your intended floor. for such an appealing apartment, they can’t even build an elevator? realizing you're only a couple steps away, a smile creeps on your lips. you confidently walk down the empty hallway while reading off the room numbers in your head. finally… room 574.
taking a deep breath, you press on the doorbell, hearing the tune play from the inside. “i’m coming!” a voice yells from the other side of the door. your heart starts to beat rapidly as your throat dries up. the door slowly swings open revealing a pretty girl. no way… NO WAY. shock was written on both your faces, “y/n? you're the same y/n who’s moving in with me?” how unlucky can you be? forcing a smile on your face, you laugh trying to avoid being awkward. “minji, hi. it’s been a while. i didn’t know it was you either.” she gives you a comforting smile and reaches for your luggage, gesturing you to enter.
stepping inside, a strong scent of flowers lingered in the air. scanning the room, you can tell nothing changed about her. the place is clean, organized, and it looks refreshing. your jaw drops in awe, the apartment already looks better than your old one. “i assume you know where your room is, so i’ll let you go and get settled.” she drops your suitcase and grabs her keys. “i actually need to run a little errand if you don’t mind. just give me a call when you need anything.” you stare at her, still filled with mixed emotions. how did she manage to crawl her way back into your life? realizing you're starting to zone out, you gave her a little thanks
once you hear the door shut, you release a heavy breath. opening the door to your room, stacks of boxes welcome you. to your surprise, the movers saved you the trouble by reassembling all your furniture. easing a bit, the news of minji, the minji from your past, comes slamming back to you. why did it have to be her of all people. whining, you drop your weight on your unsheeted bed as you call danielle.
“hey girl~ how’s the new apartment?” she squeals on the other end, sounding more excited than you. “no stop, this is the worst ever.” feeling a headache coming, you pinch the bridge of your nose. “why? what happened?” the tone of her voice shifts to worry. “oh pfft the apartment’s gorgeous. the roommate’s the problem. i was fooled over text dani.” she releases an exaggerated gasp. “but minji’s a great gal. i don’t see why you have a problem with her.” you cringe hearing danielle compliment the girl. “remember i told you about that goody two shoes girl who kept following me around and was always up in my business?” danielle paused for a second. “oh! oh! the one who you were always being compared to. wait that was minji?!?”
it may not seem like a big deal but constantly hearing, “why can’t you be more like (redacted),” took a toll on your self-esteem. you’re not her, you’re you. so why did they struggle to grasp that idea? “yea.. now i’m rooming with my trauma.” you laugh in disbelief at your current situation. “awe, i’m sure she didn’t mean for that to happen. give her a try and drop your silly little grudge. i promise you, minji’s a lovely girl.” you roll your eyes knowing your best friend is right. after all, it’s in the past. “your optimism makes me want to throw up” you hear her cackle at your comment. “shut up! you need it.” after a minute your laughter dies down. “okay, okay i have to unpack and organize. i’ll text you later.” she bids her goodbye and hangs up.
getting in the flow of unloading all of your possessions, you hear the door slam shut. immediately checking to see the cause, you find minji struggling to balance herself with groceries in her hands. you stood there debating whether you should help. danielle’s face pops into your head repeatedly telling you to give the girl a chance. letting out a defeated sigh, you take a couple of bags from her hands, placing them on the counter.
“thank you, i needed that,” giving you a bright eye smile. you checked the fridge and pantry earlier which were still pretty much full, so the large quantity of her purchases took you aback. “what’s the special occasion?” you turn to her, tilting your head in curiosity. she puts the rest of the bags down, letting out a small breath. “it’s for you. i originally wanted to prepare a small dinner to welcome you here officially. but i got carried away after finding out you were the one moving in, so i wanted to do good. i just didn’t realize how much i bought.”
you gaze blankly at her. she’s still the same. always trying to care for you, but you disliked it because the only thing you’ll get out of it is another displeasing comment. how annoying, you thought. “i’m already indebted to you for taking me in, so you don’t have to go through all this trouble to-” she cuts you off by gesturing you to stop. she holds on to your shoulders and gently pushes you back towards your room. “it’s all good, i want to do this. just relax for me and i’ll call you out once everything’s prepared.” she softly shuts the door before you can speak again, leaving you alone in your disarranged space.
an hour or two passes and you wrap up your work, tucking everything away. shortly after, you hear a faint knock on your door. opening it, you catch a whiff of a refreshing aroma, causing your eyes to roll back, and without command, your stomach growls. the girl towering over you bursts out laughing. “perfect timing, i guess your stomach speaks for itself.” embarrassment engulfs you as a shade of pink stains your cheeks. lowering your head, you move past her avoiding all eye contact.
finally taking in the scenery, she set the tone well. the ambience of the room is warm with various lit candles and flowers surrounding the tableware. you question if a welcoming dinner was always this romantic. brushing it off, you sit and get comfortable. “i’m sorry, did i go overboard?” she fidgets with her thumbs and sits across from you. looking around once more, you give her a reassuring smile, “no it looks lovely.” you hear a sigh of relief escape from her plump lips. she reaches for the lids of the cookware that rests before you. revealing what’s inside, you feel your mouth water.
“i remembered you favored italian over anything else.” your eyes glued to hers unable to process how she remembered such a small detail. thinking about it, you can’t decide if that’s sweet or creepy. realizing you’ve been staring longer than intended, you cough choking on your saliva. out of panic, minji pours you a glass of water motioning for you to drink it.
“you okay?” she smiles softly with concern in her eyes. you hit her with a thumbs up too shy to speak. haven’t you already embarrassed yourself enough today? you mentally slap yourself. without saying another word, minji stands up and begins serving her home cooked dishes. it’s been a while since someone’s cooked for you, especially the amount of effort she put into preparing everything. it made you feel warm and fuzzy inside, but it’s still kim minji. are you allowed to feel like this about her when she’s only ever made you feel inadequate?
you don’t want to admit her cooking is good but after devouring your dinner, you slouch in your seat with a satisfied stomach. you both stayed silent for a bit, not knowing what to say next. attempting to avoid the awkward silence, you stand up and start stacking dirty plates and utensils.
shockingly, she grabs a hold of your wrist signaling you to stop what you’re doing. “it’s okay, i’ve got it.” taking everything from your hands, she hustles her way to the kitchen. furrowing your eyebrows, you rush after her. “at least let me wash them,” snatching the pile from her grasp. she tries to take it back from you but you shoot her a look of “let me do this.” sighing in defeat, she backs aways with her hands in the air, “okay, it’s yours.”
she takes a seat at the kitchen island as she watches you clean. feeling the intensity of her stare, you scoff at her. “i’ll make sure everything’s clean.” she snorts at your comment. “don’t worry, i trust you. it’s just i haven’t seen you in so long... i miss you i’m glad to see you again.”
not knowing how to respond, you turn your head giving her a cheesy smile. “you know what’s funny? i’ve been thinking about reaching out to you recently, but you ended up coming to me.” feeling guilty, your chest tightens. compared to you, all you wanted was to erase her from your mind. struggling to form a reply, you stay silent. “i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to babble. it’s your first day here so you must be tired. we’ll catch up another time.” the tone of her voice sounded disappointed. she walked away without saying another word.
wrapping everything up, you head back to your room discontented. minji would always push through but why did she give up so easily this time? maybe she did change… but why does that slightly bother you?
after a long and exhausting day, you’re finally able to let loose. you can feel yourself letting go as your head sinks in the soft fabric of your pillow. just as your eyes are about to shut, the ringing of your phone echos through the room. the caller's name reads “rock muncher.”
“how’s it going~” she sounds as energetic as ever. “dani what are you on? it’s literally almost midnight.” you lay on your side, balancing your phone on your ear. “i’m sorry. did i wake you? anyway, i just wanted to check up on how it’s going with ms. minji.” your eyes stay closed, barely listening to what danielle’s saying. “huh? oh, she cooked for me and even decorated the table with candles and flowers. nothing’s changed, she’s still always trying to do things for me even if i didn’t ask.”
“pause! she’s been doing things like that since way before?” danielle’s voice filled with disbelief and curiosity. “uhm… yeah? it’s normal,” you lazily respond. “wow, i’ve been friends with her for a few years now, not once have i seen her treat anyone like that. and it’s been a while since you two last met right? woah, it’s almost as if she likes you.” she giggles at her statement. your eyes shoot open after hearing danielle’s suggestion. kim minji, liking you? “y/n hello? you still there?” thoughts come rushing in, occupying your mind. “i’m sorry dani, i’ll call you tomorrow. bye! bye!” you quickly hang up without letting her reply.
you’ve never once considered minji having romantic feelings for you. her soft words and actions led you to believe she was just being friendly. thinking about it, she followed you around, carried things for you, engaged in your hobbies, and took mental notes on your interests. no, it can’t be. that’s impossible, right? you curse danielle for proposing such a ridiculous thought. it’s kim minji of all people. you don’t like her… but why is your heart racing so much?

"I honestly don't know why filming tiktoks is taken so seriously," yn remarked to the camera as she strolled through the bustling halls of hybe. "filming behind-the-scenes for it seems a bit dramatic, don't you think?" she chuckled, her playful demeanor momentarily halted when her manager shot her a scolding glare
"I think you guys will be happy with who I'm doing this trend with," yn continued, her tone laced with mischief. "on weverse, I mentioned seeing natty and julie from kiss of life do this, and I wanted to try it too, but not with my boring members," she teased, fully aware that her bandmates would likely come for her for the comment later. "so, I asked who you wanted me to do this with, and I'm fulfilling your wishes."
as yn continued her walk, the oldest member of new jeans came into view, waiting for her with a warm smile. yn reciprocated the smile as she introduced minji to the camera, the latter waving in acknowledgment.
“minji will be doing this with me.” yn smiles as the girl waved at the camera.
"this might take a while since I fluster minji a lot," yn remarked to the camera, earning a playful scowl from minji. "anything I do, she will mess up."
“what are you even talking about.” she says yn’s pushing yn’s shoulder lightly, rolling her eyes when yn dramatically throws herself back, “that’s not true.”
after bickering, the girls set up the phone before filming, the audio of the song played and they start, minji points her fingers towards yn keeping her gaze on the girl waiting for her to dance but all yn does is turn away.
“don’t look at me!” she says covering her face and walking away only to be pulled back by minji, “why were you looking so intensely?!”
"I have to look at you, I need to face you, that's part of the trend," minji explained, trying to coax yn’s hands away from her face, chuckling at yn’s visible fluster as she backed away.
"I need to go on a walk," yn declared, feeling overwhelmed by the situation as she dramatically tried to exit.
“what?! no come on let’s do this.”
it took them five times to get in right all thanks to yn, but hey it was worth it in the end the fans loved the video.
🎸★ ͘ ⴰ clip two
yn, completely immersed in the music and the interaction with her fans, spun around in her chair with enthusiasm, belting out the lyrics, the room echoed with her joyous singing as she twirled, lost in the moment.
unbeknownst to her, the door creaked open, revealing minji's arrival. With a mischievous grin, minji grabbed the arm of yn’s spinning chair, abruptly halting its motion and causing yn to let out an unexpected scream of surprise.
"you scared me!" yn exclaimed, hand pressed against her chest as she shot minji a playful glare, though her heart was still racing from the sudden interruption.
minji chuckled at yn’s reaction, unfazed by the accusation. "all I did was stop your chair," she retorted casually, shrugging off yn’s accusation of sneaking up on her.
"no, you snuck up on me!" yn insisted, turning back to face her live audience, who were now buzzing with excitement at minji's unexpected appearance. "she's so obsessed with me that she couldn't wait until after the live to see me."
a blush crept onto minji's cheeks momentarily before she scoffed in disbelief. "what are you even saying at this point?"
"I'm saying you're obsessed," yn teased, continuing to ramble and poke fun at minji, who tried her best to maintain her composure despite the girl's relentless banter. with a sigh, minji glanced at the comments scrolling by, standing behind yn’s chair and wrapping her arms around yn’s shoulders from behind, resting her chin on yn’s head.
"why'd you stop talking?" minji asked, unable to see yn’s face directly since she was now positioned behind her.see.
"you're being touchy,"yn responded, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she tried to regain her focus, flustered by minji's unexpected affectionate gesture.
🎸★ ͘ ⴰ clip three
minji smiled when yn sat beside her waving to the live, “I came to visit!” yn exclaims.
“it’s been a while since yn has been with me on live right?” minji says while the fans on live comment about how long they’ve been waiting for yn and minji to do a live again.
“you guys better be grateful I’m here.” yn says pointing at the live, “chaewon unnie almost didn’t let me go because it’s our day off.” in reality that wasn’t the reason chaewon almost forced yn home at all, as soon as she heard that yn was going to hang out with a certain new jeans member she flipped, especially after last time.
minji sent yn and alarmed look before reading the comments, “yn tell us about meeting jennie in paris.”
yn’s face lit up and she immediately got into the details of meeting the blackpink member and like always once you get yn to talk about something it’s hard to stop her.
minji, fully engrossed in yn’s storytelling, suddenly noticed how the girl was slightly not in the frame. without missing a beat, she smoothly adjusted, tugging YN's chair closer with a casual, nonchalant gesture, ensuring the girl was perfectly within the frame.
yn paused for a second, obviously feeling slightly flustered by the action.
"what?" minji inquired innocently, her gaze fixed on yn, unwavering and intense.
all yn did was shake her head and get back into her story, while yn was talking to the live, it was like she could feel minji’s gaze on her causing yn to fidget uncomfortably in her seat. finally, unable to ignore the scrutiny, yn turned to meet minji's gaze, only to find the other girl still staring back with slight intensity.
the embarrassment creeping up her cheeks, yn quickly averted her gaze, focusing once again on the live broadcast. "stop that!" she blurted out, hoping to distract herself from the overwhelming feeling of minji’s stare.

Tumblr media
trope: quarterback!minji x shycheerleader!reader; fluff; tiny bit of angst if you squint really hard

a/n: I wrote this a few months ago and my knowledge about american football sucks, but this trope was stuck with me for so long I had to do something about it so I hope it's not that obvious (I'm also very bad at making synopsis lol)
synopsis: you never planned to do anything about your life long crush on the quarterback of your school's football team, but fate seems to be against you and it puts you together again and again....
---------------------------------------------------
You turned around as loud whistles resonated within the school halls. The football team walked down with pride in each of their steps. Have won a very important game just the day before, who wouldn't?
You yourself had a small proud smile on your face as people cheered on them. Being part of the cheer squad, you knew a part of the win was also yours and it made you happy to know everyone's spirits seemed to be high after yesterday's game.
And because you were a cheerleader, you knew the football team personally, even going as far as to say you had friends in there. Although with being a very shy person, you were only really close with a few of your teammates. But your nice personality and popularity by simply being in the cheer squad managed to have you know a lot of people, despite your shyness.
A familiar loud bickering averted your attention from the overall image of the football team to two specific girls upfront, walking between and ahead of the entire team with big smiles on their faces; Kim Minji and Pham Hanni, the star duo of the football team.
You knew the two best friends not only from the games, but also from being in the same year and class as them and because Hanni was your best friend Danielle's girlfriend. You all hangout in the same group most of the time, but your shyness forbade you from getting too close with the duo.
Your eyes finally settled on the quarterback of the team, Minji. Tall, beautiful, easy-going, gorgeous, funny, pretty, talented at everything she touches. Minji was the definition of perfection, if someone was ever to ask you to define it. And she wasn't a mean person or thought of herself as above others, as the perfect girl in every movie did. No. That's what made her even more perfect in your opinion. Minji was perfection, the perfect one. And you wouldn't lie if you said she makes your heart skip a few beats everytime you see her or hear her voice.
It had been like that for a while, too. You and Minji had shared classes for as long as you can remember. The two of you always being in the same friend groups and were always at each others birthday parties, but you never got closer than that. You only came to share phone numbers after you got into the cheer squad. Still, Minji seemed to have always captured your heart. Since the moment you two met in kindergarten when you lost your figurine in the playground and she was the only kid who helped you find it, to all the moments you hangout together with your friends today and she buys you your favorite slushie even though she never asked your favorite before.
"Take a picture so it lasts longer." A voice beside you startled you, making you jump and turn around with a blush on your cheeks.
Kang Haerin, your best friend and a cheerleader, stood by your side as she eyed you with an annoyed expression. Haerin was the only close friend you had that knew about your not so small crush on the quarterback. Not that you didn't trust your other friends, but Danielle would eventually spill it to her girlfriend accidentally and Hyein would try to set you two together in a very obvious way. So it was better like this.
"Shut up!" You turned around, closing your locker and grabbing her arm to start walking towards Danielle's locker, face not looking at the football star players direction anymore knowing they were also going in that direction. "And I don't want to hear a word about it."
"I wasn't even going to say anything." You stopped to look at her, raising your eyebrow. She had a grin in the corner of her lips, eyes darting around as she faked uninterest. You scoffed, rolling your eyes and tugging her arm again.
"Hey, girls!" Danielle greeted you two as you approached her. You and Haerin said your greetings before she was engulfed in a hug by a certain football player. "Baby!"
You watched in amusement as the couple greeted each other and shared affection as if they haven't seen each other in ages. A giggle left your lips once you heard Haerin gagging at your side. "I'm gonna look for Hyein." You nodded at her words, still watching the couple, this time with longness in your eyes.
"They're so gross, ew." You turned to your side to be faced with Minji, a face of disgust directed at your friends actions. "Don't you think so, Y/nnie?" Your eyes widened as she turned to you, catching you looking at her.
She smiled down at you, giggling at your surprised expression. You only nodded, cheeks blushing a light red as you stared at Minji's eyes.
"Good morning, Minji-ah." You greeted shyly, eyes darting down to look at the books in your arms, clutching them tightly to your chest. "You did great yesterday."
"If it wasn't for your cheering, I wouldn't have gotten the energy to win the game." Your face got impossibly redder and you didn't know if she was laughing at you or not, but you would never complain about hearing her laugh. "You're cute when–"
"There's our star player!" Minji was cut off by a loud voice and a smack on her shoulder. You both turned to look as a tall boy smiled at her with pride while you tried to calm your racing heart as you caught Minji's attempt of complimenting you. "You were seriously amazing yesterday! We need to have more practices together cause I have to learn that pass you did to get us the match point!" You watched as he excitedly engaged into a conversation with Minji, who simply nodded and smiled at him.
The boy was none other than Choi Yeonjun, the captain of the masculine football team and a starting eleven player. You.... were very acquainted with Yeonjun, if you could call it that. Yeonjun was the type of person that knew everyone in and out of school. He was very popular and social and it wasn't uncommon for him to hop between friends in the school halls. Still, he had his group of close friends. And one of these close friends was Huening Kai, a tennis player in your school who had a younger sister you were friends with, Huening Bahiyyih. One time last year she invited you to their beach house for a gathering with a few athletes in the school, and Yeonjun was there. You didn't interact much at the beginning, but after Bahiyyih dragged you to dance one night you seemed to have caught his eyes. For the remaining time at the beach house he openly flirted with you and tried to get you to go on a date with him, but you always turned him down. After all, you had eyes for another football player. But that didn't prove much efficient as to this day he still tries to date you.
"And when you grabbed the ball and started running–" Yeonjun's eyes flickered towards you for a slip second as he was passionately talking about yesterday's game with Minji and he finally seemed to notice there was someone else with her before he approached, you just couldn't decipher if he had also seen Hanni and Danielle making out behind the three of you or not. He faltered in his speech as he stopped to check you out and you suddenly became very conscious of the revealing cheer uniform you were wearing. "Oh, hey there Y/n. I didn't see you before, sorry." You tightened your grip on your books, smiling politely at him. You shifted uncomfortably as he bluntly checked you out. "Nice fit."
"Thanks." You mumbled with a tight smile, bringing a hand down to pull your skirt down. It wouldn't do anything, but it was an effort. You mentally cursed yourself for not coming with a pair of sweatpants like Haerin and Danielle did. You see, you normally don't wear your uniform around school like that, unless you have practice during the first periods of class. But as per tradition, you always take a group photo after big games. Yesterday you couldn't because of the after party so you were going to take it today during lunch time, and your coach insisted you all came with your uniforms so it wouldn't take too long. You were not expecting to deal with Yeonjun or any other of your admires before you could change to your normal clothes though.
"So." Minji cleared her throat, eyeing Yeonjun with disgust as she leaned closer to you and wrapped her arm around your shoulders. That seemed to snap Yeonjun's eyes from your exposed legs. "We can talk with our coaches about the joined practice later, right?" Yeonjun nodded as he eyed Minji's arm around you, blinking a few times before he looked up to look at her in the eye, a bright smile on his lips.
"Totally!" He put his hands inside his jacket's pockets, standing carelessly on his heels as if the action didn't affect him, but both you and Minji knew it did.
"Great!" She smiled at him and if you were looking you'd see the threat in her eyes. "We have to go fetch the other girls right now, if you don't mind. See you later!" Not giving him any time to reply, she grabbed Hanni by the back of her collar and started dragging her away, gently rubbing your shoulder and ushering Danielle. "Come on Dani, before Haerin let's Hyein buy that gross candy again."
"Damn bro, no need to choke me." Minji let go of Hanni when you were far away enough from Yeonjun and you watched the poor girl rub her neck as she stared at Minji judgely. "What was that for?" Hanni asked, wrapping her arm around Danielle's waist as the four of you walked towards the interior court where you knew Haerin and Hyein were.
But the oldest girl simply ignored her best friend. Instead, she turned to you, gently whispering in your ear. "Are you okay?"
You nodded, blushing at her breath on your ear. "Yeah, thanks." You sighed, looking down at your exposed legs and arms. Probably the only thing you hated about cheerleading was the summer uniforms. "I should've come with leggings or something at least, that's on me. Sorry." You looked up as you apologized, staring into her beautiful eyes that held nothing but concern. You didn't fail to notice the pout on her lips.
"It's his fault for being a creepy perv, not yours." She grumbled, arms pulling you closer as she practically hugged you to her chest. Suddenly, her eyes light up as she let go of you. You couldn't help the pang in your chest as she did so. "Here." She started taking her varsity jacket off and you eyed her with curiosity. "It's not much but I hope it helps." Your eyes widened once you realized what she was doing and you couldn't help the blush on your cheeks as she gently helped you put her varsity jacket on. Minji smiled proudly as she stared at you.
"Thanks, Min." You smiled shyly at her, averting your gaze and missing how her eyes softened at the nickname.
Minji didn't put her arm back around your shoulders as the four of you continued on your way to meet up with the rest of your friends, but she remained close and kept an eye for anyone else glaring at you.
Finally, you reached the interior court. "There they are!" Danielle pointed to your usual corner, where you could clearly see the two bickering about something. You let a small smile rest on your face as you watched them, shaking your head as you approached calmly.
"Unnies!" Hyein jumped as she saw you four approaching, running to grab you by your hand and drag you to where she previously was. "Can you help me with my arts homework? I forgot to do it yesterday and Haerin doesn't want to help me." She pouted, looking at you with pleading eyes.
"You know your teacher will eventually realize I'm the one doing your homeworks, right?" You sighed as you sat down beside Haerin, waiting for Hyein to hand you her homework.
Danielle and Hanni came to sit behind you three, engaging into a conversation with Minji, said girl remained standing and she put one of her feet on the bench on the other side of Haerin for support and crossed her arms on her chest. You momentarily lost yourself as you watched her laugh at whatever nonsense Hanni said, her head falling back as her eyes grew into crescent moons. God, she's beautiful.
"Here, unnie!" You turned to Hyein, trying not to blush as your eyes came down to your lap to scan her homework.
You two quietly worked on her homework as your other friends chatted. It wasn't an uncommon dynamic for all of you. Hyein was smart and dedicated, but she often used her status as youngest in the group to have any of you help her with her homeworks. In her words "Since you already did it before, it should be easy right?" And it normally was. None of you ever minded helping each other with anything. But the lingering perfume on Minji's jacket had your mind wandering more times than you'd like to and you took longer to complete Hyein's homework than you do on other days.
After you finally finished it and let the girl to gather her things in her backpack, you grabbed your cellphone to look at the time. You only had fifteen minutes before your classes begin, so you turned to the chatting girls as they seemed too engaged into their conversation to notice the time passing.
Your eyes darted between the two football players and your cheermates, feeling too shy to abruptly interrupt their conversation. So, you eyed Danielle. You tapped her leg, leaning closer as she turned to you confused. "We need to go, class is about to begin." Her mouth gained a oval shaped and she nodded, smiling at you and patting your head.
You watched with slightly flushed cheeks as she warned the other girls and you all got up to walk to class, Minji and Hanni still engaged into their conversation as you made your way out of the internal court.
Once you were approaching the point were you'd all split up to go to your perspective classrooms, Haerin pulled you back by the arm. You eyed her with confusion as she stared at you amused. "What?"
"What?" She mocked, looking down at your torso. You eyebrows furrowed deeply as you looked down, blushing in realization as you took notice of Minji's jacket, not that you ever forgot it was there. "What happened while I was gone?" She wiggled her eyebrows at you, quietly giggling at the blush spreading all over your face.
"Shut up, Rinnie!" You shushed her, looking away at anything but her face and the quarterback walking in front of you two. "Yeonjun was flirting with me again." You heard her groaning and you could imagine the immense eye roll she did. "Minji was simply trying to make me comfortable because I'm stupid and forgot pants."
"I knew I should've brought spares." She mumbled, cursing Yeonjun under her breath as you approached the hall where all of you parted ways.
You watched as Hanni and Danielle kissed and hugged goodbye, turning to give your own hug to Hyein. The younger girl waved to you all before skipping down towards her classroom and you waived to Danielle as she went on her own way too.
"I swear if that asshole–" Haerin still mumbled and you couldn't help but giggle at your friend's protectiveness. You pulled her into a hug, shushing her as she realized you had all stopped walking and Hyein and Danielle were already gone.
"I'm okay, Rinnie. Don't worry." You whispered in her ear, pulling back to give her a smile. That seemed to calm her down enough as she waved to Minji and Hanni and hurried towards her classroom.
"Why is everyone so grumpy today, man?" Hanni asked as she pulled you to stand between her and Minji, the three of you walking calmly to your own classroom. "First Minji and now Haerin. Is the water tasting like shit again?"
"Stop being gross!" Minji returned grumpily and you giggled as Hanni looked at you with an 'I told you so' face.
"Stop being a dick!" You laughed as the duo kept on bickering all the way to your class and in your tables, shaking your head.
"I'm not being a dick, your ass–"
---------------------------------------------------
"Alright girls, take five!" You heard Danielle groan in relief as Chaewon, the cheer captain, announced the break.
You and the rest of the cheerleaders have been practicing for a few hours now, the new routine being a bit more tiring than the ones you've been doing for the past few months. Theoretically, you all had a break until next week due to the win in the game the day prior. But your coach wasn't satisfied with your performance this season and she wanted to polish your routines as soon as possible, so here you all were practicing.
You walked towards the bench and grabbed your water bottle, quietly laughing as Danielle and Hyein laid down on the floor with wet cloaks on their foreheads. Haerin came up to the three of you and sat down on the bench, taking the bottle from your hands before you had a chance to take a sip of it. "Hey!"
"Not my fault you're busy staring at other people." She teased, laughing at your annoyed face before downing the water.
"Don't you do the same?" Hyein asked, looking at you two with a tired face. You smiled sympathetically at her, walking to crouch down besides her head and brush the hair sticking on her face due to the sweat away.
"That's why I can comment on it." Haerin replied, tossing you the water bottle. You grabbed it with a yelp, scolding her for not warning you beforehand. "At least I talk to Minji unnie instead of just staring." She mumbled, trying to hide her smirk as you looked at her with disbelief.
"What did you say?" Danielle asked, opening her eyes to look at the three of you with curiosity. "I didn't hear it."
"She said nothing." You glared at Haerin, silently daring her to repeat her words. She looked away, pretending to be interested in something else. "Anyways." You turned to Danielle, standing up and drinking your water. "What are you guys doing tonight? It's Friday."
"Oh! I'm going on a date with Hanni tonight!" Danielle's energy suddenly came back as she sat up quickly, the cloak falling from her forehead. But she didn't seem to mind as her smile only grew bigger, her eyes staring at the sky as she seemed to be getting lost in her own head. "She said there's this nice restaurant she's going to take me!" Her voice was dreamy and you smiled longingly as your friend kept talking. "And then later we're going to my house and watch some movies!"
"I have homework to do." Hyein groaned loudly and you all laughed as you watched her annoyed face. "Why do they give us so much homework?"
"Welcome to highschool." You, Danielle and Haerin groaned, rolling your eyes. "Good luck, Hyennie." Hyein whined at your guys words, pouting.
"I'm going to the cinema with my mom and my sister." Haerin said her plans for the night, getting up from the bench. "But we'll probably have dinner somewhere before too." She walked up to Danielle as you could see Chaewon and your coach slowly gathering the other cheerleaders. "We might run into each other if I'm lucky." She told Danielle with a sly grin as she helped the older girl stand up.
"Oh please, no." You laughed at Danielle as you helped Hyein get up. "The last time you guys crashed my date it didn't end up well." The australian's eyes widened in fear as she remembered the fateful date.
"It wasn't that bad." Hyein said as you three tried not to laugh at Danielle's expression of disbelief. "We just got banned from that restaurant for what? Three months? Nothing serious."
"You embarrassed me in front of my girlfriend!" Danielle exclaimed as you started to walk back to the middle of the court, hands going up as her body expressed her emotions. "And that was Hanni's favorite restaurant too! She was so sad." The girl pouted and Haerin and Hyein laughed at her as you laid a hand on her shoulder sympathetically.
"We apologized and she said it's all good now." You tired to comfort your friend, glaring at the two youngests that kept laughing. "She laughs everytime someone mentions it, even."
"You're right." Danielle smiled, nodding and turning to face you. "What about you, Y/n? You were the only one that didn't say what you're going to do tonight."
"Oh." You blinked at her, shrugging as you turned to your captain. "I'll probably just go home and do nothing important."
"You should go out with Minji." You choked on your own spit as the words left Danielle's mouth, turning to look at her with an evident blush rising on your face. "She's not doing anything as far as I know and neither is you, it's a perfect idea." You looked at Haerin behind her with wide eyes, silently asking her if she told the australian anything about your crush on Minji, but she seemed as surprised as you were.
"W-Why?" You cursed yourself mentally for stuttering, looking away so Danielle wouldn't see the embarrassment and shyness in your face.
"Because you're friends and you both have nothing to do on a Friday night?" You were glad she sounded genuinely confused at your question, but you couldn't help fear that she had figured out you liked Minji. You loved and trusted Danielle with your life, but if Hanni and Hyein ever found out about your crush the three of them would become the most obvious and chaotic cupids to date. And that thought horrified you. Minji deserved someone social and cool, and you didn't want to ruin your entire friend group's friendship over a stupid crush you had on the quarterback.
"We'll talk about this later." You mumbled, straightening you back as your coach yelled that the break was over.
---------------------------------------------------
You sighed as you tied your shoes, feeling relaxed after a cold shower in the locker rooms. Practice ended about an hour ago and you took your sweet time showering and dressing up. Haerin and Hyein had already left, the younger taking the opportunity to take a ride with the catlike girl. Danielle on the other hand, was still putting her shirt on by your side in front of her locker.
Talking about the australian girl. "Dani!" Kazuha, one of your cheermates, yelled to your friend, making the girl turn around while she pulled her shirt down her torso. You simply resorted to finishing putting your shoes on. "Hanni's here!" Your friend squealed in excitement and you giggled at her, shaking your head.
You tuned their conversation off, shifting your attention to a certain quarterback that seemed to always plague your mind. You clutched Minji's varsity jacket to your chest as you finished tying your shoes, a small smile resting on your lips as you reminisced about how beautiful she looked during class, laughing at whatever nonsense your classmates and Hanni said. You brought the jacket to partially hide your face when your memories brought you to a moment during bio class where the teacher assigned you all a group activity and as per tradition at this point, the football players and the cheerleaders stick together on the same group. Yunjin, a football player, was blocking your way towards your seat and she was so engaged into the activity with Kazuha that you felt too shy to ask her to move, so you waited patiently behind her. But Minji noticed you behind her and instead of asking Yunjin to move, she lifted you up so you could pass above the tables instead. To say you were a blushing mess after that was an understatement, and to make matters worse for you, or better, Minji kept an arm around your waist during the entire class, always smiling down at you and giggling at your rosy cheeks. Gosh, you loved that girl.
"I hope you're thinking about me." You jumped startled, hand gripping on the jacket as whoever just spoke to you giggled at your reaction. You looked up to see Minji looking down at you with her beautiful smile, eyebrows quirking up as you finally knowledged her. "Hi, Y/nnie."
"Hey, Min. What are you doing here?" You smiled at her, fighting back your blush as you got up and put the jacket in your hands on, finally noticing how quiet the lockers room had gotten. The others must've already left, but you didn't want to tear your eyes from the football player in front of you.
"I'm giving a ride to the girls for their date, so we came to pick Dani up." You nodded and your eyes locked for a few seconds, before you averted your gaze and went to grab your gym and school bags. "Are you going somewhere tonight too? I can give you a ride if you want."
"Oh, it's okay." You shaked your heard, looking away to see Danielle and Hanni in their own little world, giggling with each other. "I'll just go home and figure out what I'll have for dinner because no one's home for a while and there's nothing in the fridge..." You accidentally rambled, trailing off as you caught Minji smiling at you.
"Wanna go out?" You blinked at her question. Was she asking you on a date? I mean of course not, why would she? She's just asking her friend to go out because you have nothing to do and she has nothing to do so she must want to go out with her friend. Just that. Nothing else. Of course Minji wouldn't be asking you on a date why would she– "Y/n? You're cute when you get lost in your head like that." She giggled and you were certain your entire face was very red.
"What?! I am not!" You playfully slapped her shoulder, leaning into her as you both laughed, you more because of embarrassment than anything else.
"So." She held your waist with one hand, brushing a few strands of hair from your face with the other. "Wanna go out? We can go that convinience store close to my grandparents house." Your eyes lit up at that. That convenience store was one you'd go often when you were kids to buy ice cream and watch cartoons because her grandparents never let you watch them at their house.
"I would love to!" You smiled a her, big and genuine. Minji smiled down at you, caressing your cheek as she nodded. "How have they been, by the way? I haven't seen them in so long!"
"They ask about you a lot, actually." You looked at her in surprise and she only nodded, giggling. "You know they love you." You shaked your head at that, blushing slightly. "My parents miss you too. You should come over more often, I feel like we barely talk outside school or when we are not with the girls." You nodded, feeling a bit guilty. You wouldn't lie in saying that your crush had strained your friendship with the girl because of your shyness around her. But you were glad she wanted to see you more often.
Before you could engage deeper into your conversation, Hanni and Danielle came up to you two holding hands and with big smiles on their faces. "Dani's ready to go. Oh hey, Y/n." You waved at Hanni, smiling at your friends happiness. "Let's go, Minji. We have reservations, we can't be late."
"Ready to go?" Minji looked at you and you nodded. The quarterback smiled and laced her arms with yours, starting to walk away with the couple to the parking lot.
"Oh, you told her about my idea from earlier?" Danielle asked as she noticed you were following them to Minji's car.
"What idea?" Minji and Hanni looked between the two of you with curiosity and you couldn't help but look down embarrassed.
"Nothing–"
"Y/n had just said she would be doing nothing tonight so I suggested she should go out with Minji since she was also doing nothing tonight." Danielle cut you off before you could dismiss her and you were glad it was dark otherwise as Minji looked down at you with amusement she would've seen the blush spreading over your cheeks.
"Seems like us going out today was destiny." She said in a deep voice, pulling you closer and giggling at you before she let go of your arm to round the car and go towards the driver's seat. "Y/n's taking the front seat!" She glanced at Hanni who was about to open the passenger's seat door.
"Why?!" You and Danielle muffled your laughs at the girl's genuine offense. "You ask her out once and now she has passenger princess privileges?" Hanni huffed as she walked to the backseat with her girlfriend, closing the door behind her a bit harsher. "I thought we were mates, bro." She continued complaining as you all got inside Minji's car, buckling up before the older girl started the vehicle.
"Shut up and enjoy your free ride, Hanni." Minji shaked her head, giving you an reassuring smile as she saw you were feeling a bit panicked by Hanni's reaction. "She's just being dramatic, don't worry." She whispered to you before turning to face the street.
After turning on the radio, you all fell into a comfortable ambience as the couple in the backseats talked about their plans for the night, while you and Minji silently laughed, teasing them every once in a while for good laughs.
When Minji parked in front of the restaurant Hanni and Danielle would be having dinner at, she opened the window and peaked her head outside to look at the couple getting out of the car. "Remember to call your parents when you get home!" She said as she looked at Hanni, pointing an accusing finger at her. "I don't want your mom at my door at 3AM again because you forgot to text her you got at mine's safely!"
"Damn bro, that happened once!" Hanni mumbled angrily, having a bickery staring contest with Minji before Danielle broke it with a quiet laugh.
"We will, unnie. Don't worry." Danielle smiled, lacing her fingers with Hanni's. "Have a good night you two!" They waved at you two goodbye, and you turned to Minji as she mumbled.
"It was three times, actually." You giggled, and looked around faking uninterest as Minji looked at you puzzled. "Well... Shall we go to our date now?"
"Y-Yes!" You squealed, face becoming more red as Minji laughed at you. You were rigid in your seat as her hand lightly squeeze yours in your lap before shifting the gear from parked to begin driving away from the restaurant.
---------------------------------------------------
"I think I'll just have these." You handed Minji the items you wanted to buy from the convinience store: two tuna onigiris, a strawberry sandwich and a bottle of strawberry juice. The girl put the items in the basket she had looped on her arm, smiling at you sweetly. "Are we going to eat here or on your car?"
"Actually, I was thinking–" But before Minji could finish her phrase, she was interrupted by the sound of your phone ringing in the pocket of her jacket you were still wearing.
You smiled at her apologetically before grabbing your phone, looking at the familiar name popping on the screen. "Oh, it's Haerin." You were a bit confused on why the girl was calling you so late at night without warning, but you brushed it off remembering she had gone to the cinema and was either excited about it or bored by it.
"You should pick it up, Haerin doesn't usually call people." You nodded, knowing very well all the habits of your best friend. You once again smiled apologetically at Minji, but she simply gave you a sweet smile. "I'll finish grabbing my things and meet you outside?"
"Thank you, you're amazing." Wanting to rush out and answer Haerin's call before it went to voicemail, you stood on your tiptoes and kissed Minji on her right cheek as another thanks before rushing out of the store and answering the call. "What's up, Rin?"
"The movie was good but now mom's complaining about how it wasn't 'realistic' and now I'm annoyed, so I decided to annoy you too. What are you doing?" You laughed at her annoyed tone, pulling the jacket tight around your torso as a chilly breezy ran past you.
"Out with Min." You giggled at Haerin's loud gasp, feeling the warm on your cheeks, but you told yourself it was because you were cold. "She invited me to go to a convinience store close to her grandparents house. And don't be weird about it! We used to come here as kids."
"What happened after I left?!" The annoyance she had seconds ago was long gone and that made you laugh at her, lightly pacing back and forth on your reels to warm your body a little. "So, have you two kissed yet?"
"Shut up!" The warm on your neck was definitely not from the cold and you had to bite your lower lip to stop yourself from smiling at the thought of kissing the quarterback. "It's a totally platonic outting. Nothing else. And stop being weird."
"Dude, you're so dense it's frustrating sometimes." You could hear the roll of her eyes in her voice and that made your eyes roll too. "Just tell her you like her already!"
"Stop!" You squealed, looking back afraid Minji might be near, but you saw her attentively looking through the freezer for something to drink. She looked cute. "She doesn't feel the same anyways, so there's no need for that."
"You don't know it until you confess!" You rolled your eyes once again, sighing in annoyance. "Come on, Y/n! Don't be a coward for once!"
"Why are you so insistent on this? Can't I just like her from afar?" You could never understand why Haerin was so insisted on making you confess to Minji. Was it so hard for her to understand the football star would never return your feelings for her?
"No, you can't!" The girl groaned on the other side of the line and you heard some movement before she spoke again. "Use this date as an opportunity to finally bitchen up and tell her you like her! What's the worse that could happen?"
"Loose Minji's friendship?" You said that like it was the most obvious thing ever, frustration starting to build up in your chest. "Which I already am by the way, because I'm a stupid coward."
"Then stop being one!"
"Can you stop instigating me for once, Kang Haerin?!" Your voice raised a little, gripping your phone as your fear of rejection surfaced from the depths of your heart. "I'm not telling Minji I like her! End of story!" There was a loud groan from the other side of the line and you where about to tell her you wouldn't do what she wanted you to once again when a voice from behind you stopped you from doing so.
"You like me?"
Your eyes widened, body going rigid as Minji walked in front of you, looking you direct in the eyes. Suddenly, the firm grip you had on your cellphone loosened and your phone slowly fell from your hands. The loud sound it made as it hit the floor made you jump a little, but you didn't move to pick it up. You didn't blink as Minji eyes stared deeply into your own. You could feel your entire face going red and your hands start to shake from fear. This was it. The secret was out. She was going to reject you and you were going to loose one of your closest and best friends and she was going to–
"Why didn't you tell me before, silly?" She laughed. Minji laughed. Her eyes were crescent moons, just like they always were when she was happy. You'd know that much, you're always staring at her. And she had a faint blush on her cheeks. You were confused, and still locked in place. "Oh, Y/n." She stepped close to you, her voice dropping two octaves, making goosebumps go through your entire body. She brought both of her hands to your cheeks, gently caressing them. You couldn't get any redder than this. "You're cute when you're blushing."
"M-Minji I- What are you doing?" You said in a whisper, gulping down as her body was practically flush to yours. You could feel her warm breath hitting your face.
"Can I kiss you, Y/nnie?" Your eyes went wide at that and your vision became a bit blurry. Your breath got stuck in your throat and you nodded eagerly before your hazy mind could understand what you were doing.
Minji giggled at the confused and awestruck state you were in, before looking down at your lips and leaning in, the phone on the floor long forgotten by both of you.
Your mind went blank before beginning to register things again. Minji's lips were soft and a bit cold, but they felt so incredibly good. They tasted faintly like the milk chocolate you knew she loved. You took a few seconds to relax from the shock, closing your eyes and sighing into her lips before wrapping your hands around her neck. You felt Minji smile into your lips before she let one hand go of your cheek, pulling your closer to her by the waist and deepening the kiss.
You both pulled back when air was needed and you rested your head on her shoulder, giggling quietly as she gently caressed your back.
"I like you so much, Y/n." You pulled back just enough to look at her, your eyes shining with love as you bit your lips in slight shyness from her affectionate gaze.
"I think I've liked you since I met you, Minji." You took all of your courage to say that confidently, smiling brightly at her as she smiled back at you.
"Hmm, that's good." She mumbled, leaning in smiling before she captured your lips on hers once again. You were already getting addicted to the feeling of them.
This time, you were both interrupted by your phone ringing, Haerin's familiar ringtone making you remember your phone.
You pulled back with a quiet 'Sorry', crouching down to pick your phone up, that was luckily not broken, and quickly texted your best friend that your data was almost over and you'd talk to her later. You looked back at Minji, suddenly feeling shy under her sweet gaze that held a new meaning in your eyes and heart.
"So, wanna take this date to somewhere else? I don't wanna ask you to be my girlfriend in front of a convinience store." She eyed the glass sliding doors with an awkward smile, but your mind focused on something else. Girlfriend... Minji wanted to be your girlfriend. Holy shit Minji liked you! "Baby? Let's go?"
"Yes!" You squealed at the pet name, blushing brightly as she giggled and grabbed your hand, dragging you towards her parked car.
"By the way." She turned to look at you once you stopped in front of the passenger's seat, looking down at you with a sweet but mischievous smile. "You look very cute and hot wearing my football jacket."
"Kim Minji!" You squealed in disbelief as she rounded the car laughing loudly.
---------------------------------------------------
You closed your locker with a sigh, turning to face Danielle and Haerin as a few of your cheermates bid you goodbye. It was Monday again and the three of you had just changed your cheer clothes from practice before classes to your normal school ones.
"What is taking Hyein so long?" The australian mumbled, looping her arms around both yours and Haerin's arms to begin leading you towards the youngest's locker.
A few of the students waved at you three, but everyone seemed to be in their own little world. It was Monday, and most of the clubs were on a small break, so the mood around the school was a bit more chill than usual. And no sight of the two football star players like you used to see every morning.
You spotted the tall girl you were looking for speaking to a few of her classmates. When she spotted you the three of you, she waved and smiled brightly. But wishing to let Hyein speak patiently to her classmates, you pulled Danielle back to slow her pace and allow the three of you to walk slowly towards the younger girl.
Once you were close to reaching her, a loud voice seethed through the peaceful atmosphere of the hallway calling out your name. "Y/n! Wait!" You looked back confused, letting go of Danielle's arm to be greeted with the sight of Yeonjun running in your direction with a football in his hands.
"Oh, hey. Good morning, Yeonjun." You gave the boy a tight but polite smile, grateful that this time you were wearing clothes that covered your body. You could feel Haerin's intense gaze at him from behind you. "You seem excited."
"I heard well have a joined practice tomorrow!" You nodded, folding your arms in front of your torso as you hugged yourself, starting to feel uncomfortable under his intense gaze. You might not be wearing revealing clothes, but the way his eyes traveled down your body made you feel exposed just as much. "So, I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me after it." You blinked at him, not failing to hear the growl Haerin let out from behind you.
"Yeonjun..." Your voice was serious, and a bit annoyed if you were being honest, but you remained your politeness, feeling shy about making a fuss in front of so many people. "No. You know I don't see you like that."
"Just give me a chance!" He slapped his ball in frustration, looking pleadingly in your eyes. "Why not?!"
"Because she doesn't want to!" Haerin angrily answered for you. You turned to give her a stern look, turning back once again to look at Yeonjun, feeling small but annoyed under his gaze.
"I don't like you like that, Yeonjun." You sighed frustrated, fingers slightly fidgeting with the necklace you had under your shirt, the necklace Minji gave you while you didn't have official rings yet. "Besides, I'm not even sin–"
"Hey, babe." Familiar arms looped around your waist, a sweet kiss being planted on your cheeks as a big smile immediately formed on your lips. "Good morning."
You turned to look at your girlfriend Minji, standing on your tiptoes to give her a sweet kiss on her lips. "Good morning, baby. How are you doing?"
"Great, now that you're here." She smiled down at you and was about to say something else when a shocked cough interrupted her. Minji turned to look at Yeonjun, giving him a not so subtle annoyed expression. "Oh hey, Yeonjun. Were you and my girlfriend talking about something important? Sorry to interrupt you." You loved how she said girlfriend in a protective way, pulling you closer to her and tightening her hold on you.
"Oh, it was nothing." You interrupted Yeonjun before he could answer her, feeling a bit more confident in the safety of her arms. "Don't worry about it."
"Yeah, it was nothing." He mumbled, smiling awkwardly. "See you two around." He skipped away quite quickly, mumbling something under his breath.
You turned to look at Minji as she cursed him quietly, giggling as you gently caressed her nape to calm her down. You were about to lean in to kiss her again when a loud squeal interrupted you.
"I'm sorry?! I think I missed a chapter!? Girlfriend!?" The two of you turned to look at your friends, all plastering shocked faces, but Haerin was the only one smiling between them.
"Oh, did we forget to tell you guys?" Minji said nonchalantly, blinking at them before a big smile appeared on her face as she turned to look at you. "We are dating!"
"You fucking asshole! I knew your data was fine!" Haerin slapped your shoulder, quite strongly, as she recovered from her surprise. "I told you it'd go well!"
"Wait, Haerin knew about this?!" Hanni pointed accusingly at the catlike girl, still looking between you and Minji in shock.
"She knew I liked Minji..." You trailed off shyly as you looked between Danielle and Hyein, waiting their reaction to the new information.
The australian girl seemed to finally snap out of her shock, jumping excitedly on top of you and your girlfriend, squealing loudly. "You have to tell me everything! I can't believe it! I can't believe it! You two look so cute together!"
"What are your intentions with my unnie?" Hyein pointed at Minji, trying her best to look intimidating, but she looked toi happy to be taken seriously.
"Don't worry about her, kid. I'll take good care of Y/nnie for you." Minji laughed at Hyein, patting her head.
"What the fuck, bro!" Hanni also joined her girlfriend in the hug, pulling you and Minji's faces close to her. "Congrats, man! You finally got the girl!"
"Okay, wait." Danielle pulled back, looking at her cellphone. "We have thirty minutes before class, you have to tell us everything!"
You all laughed, beginning to walk towards the court to your usual spot, your girlfriend's arm securely wrapped around your shoulders, and you were still wearing her jacket.
---------------------------------------------------
a/n: this is honestly kind of very bad but if you read it once and then think about the scenario in your head it's kinda cute so it's okay I guess

“imagine g!p minji was a perv.. and she was ur sister's bestfriend! (ur choice to choose who) and one day when ur sister was out to buy groceries minji use the opportunity to force herself on u :((( she was meann and likes to see you cry.. you're a crybaby though.. how pathetic!“
✏️: OMG super late response smh, this got buried in lots of requests TᴖT also i accidentally deleted the ask?! good thing i had it saved in my wip list.. also this is so mean, i don’t think i’ve ever written something like this 🥹
Tumblr media
i could so see this happening especially you were to be hanni's younger sister. because of how close minji was with hanni, hanni would let you tag along on their hang outs or even she'd let minji accompany you if she couldn't.
unknowingly, minji had the hots for you. minji always took a liking on you, even before she and hanni became friends– that is exactly how she got to be close to you and that was through befriending a clueless hanni.
"minji-yah! y/n! do you need anything from 7-eleven? i'll buy ramyeon!" hanni asked from the foyer whilst you and minji were in the living room, watching a movie that you've been wanting to watch.
"nope!" minji answered back meanwhile your ears perked up, "eonnie! can you get me lychee jellies? the peelable ones!" you hollered back until you got a response from your older sister.
"okay, i'll call if i get there!" hanni says as she shut the door behind her.
finally, minji thought.
5 minutes pass by and minji's arm wrapped around your shoulder, pulling you close to her, you let it be since you saw how comfortable she became.
then minji started to move closer towards you, hand gripping your shoulder tightly. you hiss when you feel her nails digging into your skin, you even whimper as you look at minji, silently telling her to stop.
"m-minji.. it hurts.." you say to her, trying to pry minji's arm away from your shoulder. suddenly minji unravels her arm from your shoulder as she stands up, pushing your shoulders back onto the couch when you sat up.
whimpering as minji stared you down, your eyes start to glisten with tears, "eonnie, you're scaring me.. w-what did i do?" you say as a tear cascades down your cheek. minji leans down and wipes the tear of yours, "what did you not do, honey? you think you could get away with looking so pretty every time i'm around? it makes it so hard not to touch you, honey.." minji says as she starts to take her sweats off, stepping out of them along with her underwear.
your eyes shake when you see minji's cock, attempting to look away was not a choice because minji's hand holds onto the back of your head, forcing you to sit up as she angled her cock against your lips, smearing her leaking pre-cum all over your closed lips.
you refused to look or open your lips, keeping them shut as minji continued to try to get your mouth to open. unable to get you to open your mouth, minji's hand quickly slaps your cheek, making you gasp as you opened your eyes and looked up at her in disbelief.
"don't look at me like that, lovey.. it just makes me want to ruin you even more." minji says as she angles her cockhead towards your mouth once more, liking how you kept your mouth open as she sunk into your warm cavern.
the smile that creeps up on minji's face is eerie when she starts to thrust into your mouth, paying to mind to you gagging and to your hands scratching her lower back through her shirt as she begged you to stop.
you gag repeatedly as minji thrusts into your mouth, groaning at the feeling of your mouth, "you feel so good, lovey.. i could fuck this slutty mouth of yours forever.." minji moans as she fucks your mouth harder, gathering your hair into a makeshift ponytail as she bobs your head up and down her cock as she thrusts simulaneously.
your throat continues to gurgle around minji's cock that huge enough to leave no space in your mouth. minji was long and girthy with trimmed pubes, she liked to be clean and trimmed.
minji's adrenaline only keeps going when you look up at her with tears in your eyes, cascading down your cheeks as you gagged repeatedly around her cock. she simply thrusts harder and bobs your head up faster, loving the sound of you gagging.
"god, you're not doing the right thing if you want me to stop. i'll only fuck you if you keep doing this." minji pouts when she acts like you're moving on your own on her cock, bobbing your head up and down. she even fakely whines and begs for you to stop sucking her only for minji to laugh like a maniac as she bucks her hips into your mouth.
stilling your head with her cock buried deep into your mouth, minji pats your head sweetly, "can you make me cum, lovey?" minji asks before she pulls your head away from her cock, she makes you nod by moving your head even if you desperately tried to shake your head as you coughed.
she forces your mouth open once more before pushing your head down her cock, making you gag once more as she thrusts repeatedly into your mouth, moaning when your mouth only tightens up around her cock. minji's pace is relentless as she chases her orgasm knowing that hanni could come home and see her bestfriend devirginize her sister's mouth.
"oh my god lovey! i'm gonna cum, i'm gonna fucking cum! gotta make sure to swallow everything up, yeah? we can't leave any traces of what you did to me.." minji moans out as she bucks her hips harshly into your mouth, making you gag and cough around minji's cock when she stills her hips with her cock down your throat as she starts to release her hot cum into your warm cavern.
pulling away, minji's hand holds your cheeks roughly as she stares you down, "swallow it." she says as she watches you swallow every bit of her awfully bitter cum.
you gag when you swallow it all up, minji even forcefully opens your mouth to see if you swallowed everything up. seeing that you swallowed her cum up, she smiles with a glint in her eyes as she leans down to pick her sweats off of the ground and begins to dress herself up.
watching as minji began to compose herself, she was making sure there were no traces of what she has done to you. you began to cry, fat globs of tears start to cascade down your face as you hiccup, your chest starts to heave as you desperately tried to catch your own breath despite sobbing.
minji coos as she pulls you close, making your head lean on her stomach as you cried, no words could be understood no matter how hard you tried to speak.
it was as if your angels came right in time when hanni arrived, a confused expression was on her face when she passed by the living room and saw you sobbing into minji's stomach. "the film was a bit too sad." minji says to hanni who simply blinked at her.
but it was a comedy film.. hanni thought as she walked away, still hearing your intense sobs as minji tried to calm you down.

kim minji x fem! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: ever since you bought a new game for your ps5, you've been spending a lot of your free time with hanni, the only other member who knew how to play properly. minji gets tired of it eventually.
others + genre: 6th member y/n, 04 liner y/n, outgoing (and very loud) y/n, straightforward y/n...., 04 line just a bunch of bffs who parent maknae line togt tbh, fluffyflfuufyflfhfyf
notes: requested!, nothing much.. just hope u guys enjoy.. perhaps not proof read, VERY SHORT‼️
Tumblr media
"hanni behind you!"
"y/n i need a revive i'm behind the factory!"
"shit!"
"good game... didn't know players could control tanks..."
"yeah, well! now we know i guess.."
it had been a while since you spent a good portion of your first paycheck on a new ps5 and a first-person shooter game. and ever since then you and hanni have spent every hour of free time the group had playing.
which hadn't been an issue for you and minji!
or so you thought.
promotions for omg finally ended, so you and hanni intended to complete the game's storyline by the end of the day. you both slept early the night before, and getting on the game was the first thing you both did after taking a bath and eating breakfast.
unlike the rest of the girls, minji had schedules that day as a special mc, so she left the dorms an hour after you and hanni started your little game marathon. (neither of you forgetting a cheek kiss goodbye, despite hanni's disgust)
now you see, minji doesn't really get jealous easily, and if she did, she'd rationalize it without having the need to talk to you about it (not wanting to bother you). but with you spending almost every hour of your day playing with hanni, and doing so for the past week, it's been building up, and today was the breaking point.
when minji left the dorms, you were on the console, and when she arrived, you were still playing. the proximity between you and hanni didn't help much either, but you get cold easily and both of you were too lazy to get up and grab a blanket.
"oh! welcome back, min!" minji's worries left for a split second hearing your voice and a smile grew as she removed her shoes and coat in front of the door.
she sat on the couch behind you and hanni, trying her best to observe the gameplay, but ultimately failing as her eyes glued on your right arm intertwined with hanni's left.
"fuck i really need to pee.."
"let minji play for a bit she can cover."
hanni was gonna regret suggesting that.
"oh true." you turned around to face minji and handed her your controller before running to the bathroom. "PLAY WELL FOR ME, MIN!"
you should win a world record for fastest female peeing, 'cause it barely felt like a minute before you came back to the living room, drying your washed hands off with tissue.
"what the hell! i'm trying to detonate the explosives but someone's shooting at me! minji can you get them!" hanni exclaimed in fury as she focused every fiber of her being into the game's side puzzle.
your eyebrows furrowed as your eyes traveled to minji's half of the screen. she was definitely shooting someone! but somehow whenever minji's character shoots, the health bar on hanni's screen depletes.
realizing what was happening in front of you, you bursted out into laughter, hanni's face full of confusion and focus, minji's blank with a light smile.
"babe you're shooting hanni."
"WHAT THE HELL!"
but by the time you pointed it out it was too late. hanni's character died, marking it a game over.
"sorry about that, pham." minji managed to let out in between laughter. you sat beside her and set the game back to the main menu before resting your left arm around her shoulders.
"yeah.... sure.. i'm gonna take a nap." hanni playfully glared at minji before disappearing into the hallways to enter her shared room. "you lovebirds have fun!"
you let out a sigh of relaxation as you felt your girlfriend's head rest on your chest, your left arm pulling her closer. you heard a hum of satisfaction from minji as you kissed the top of her head before resting your cheek on her.
"you knew you were shooting hanni's character didn't you?"
you didn't hear any response, but a soft chuckle instead, which was more than enough to confirm your theory (that you thought you were crazy for to think of it).
"i love you, you know?" you felt her softly nod a yes before replying with a very soft "i love you too." that almost got drowned out by the game's background music.
"we'll deal with hanni's game progress later. how was work today?"

midnight quarrel pt.2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
y/n is still upset and minji is trying her best to make up for it but upset y/n means upset minji too and that leads to another thing...

featuring: lesserafim
playlist: midnight quarrel
warning: lowercase intended, insecurities, harsh words, cursing, family issues, injuries, internalized homophobia (please tell me if there's anything to add)
word count: 5.8k
Tumblr media
two days passed just like that, and you are back in the practice room again after catching what seems to be a two-hour sleep.
you managed to not get caught by any of your members when you sneaked out to train again last night but you are almost sure that minji knows about you staying up late when you notice how her stare on you lingers more than usual.
she keeps staring at you even while practicing and it is starting to bother you.
is there something on your face?
is she going to talk to you after the practice?
is she mad?
being distracted by her stares, you suddenly stumble on your own feet, and on the way to catch yourself with your hands, you accidentally twist the left one. hissing quietly, you don’t want the girls to worry much but danielle is surely so worried.
“unnie, are you alright?!”
you stand up immediately, brushing invisible dust on your clothes while making sure that your left wrist is hidden perfectly under your hoodie sleeve.
"i'm fine, i'm fine."
you assure the girls and thankfully, they know how you don't like this kind of attention that much. so, hanni suggested that you should take a break for a minute or two before joining them back. albeit reluctant, you followed her suggestion and went to the coffee machine to drink your coffee.
"you shouldn't drink that much coffee, you know."
you nearly spit out your coffee when a sudden voice interrupted you. furrowing your brows, you turn around, only to be met with minji's furrowed ones too.
"let me do whatever i want, min."
you snicker before turning your head back to the machine, not wanting to have a casual conversation with the latter at all.
"i'm being serious, y/n."
you groan internally. here she goes again. couldn't she just leave you alone for a second? you put down the poor paper cup harshly.
"let's continue our practice, guys."
you walk toward the other, leaving minji dumbfounded at the corner.
"when will the both of you going to settle it, bro?"
hanni tiredly asks, although her voice is too loud to let the others hear it too.
"minji and y/n unnie is still fighting?"
the curious hyein asked, receiving a hushed "don't get involved" from haerin.
"i don't know guys, someone is not trusting me."
oh, you indeed are testing minji's patience limit. unbeknownst to you, the next question you are going to ask is about to let the hell break loose.
"aren't you, kim?"
you asked her that without even facing her and you could only catch a flash of horrified gazes from the members before you found yourself getting dragged—once again, and now you hate the fact that she is stronger than you—out of the room. noticing that no one is around the quiet hallway, you shout, demanding her to stop.
"let me go, kim!"
you were surprised when she actually let go of your wrist, your right wrist, thankfully, only for you to get surprised even more when you see her teary eyes.
"stop calling me kim, y/n..."
"minji, i–"
well, now you feel guilty about it.
thinking about it, the past few days have been filled with both of you trying to test each other's limits—well, it's mostly you testing minji's patience, but let's ignore that–and end up feeling guilty about them.
the second time she drags you today, you let her as she leads you to her vocal practice room. you stand stiffly at the center of the room as she locks the door before turning around to face you, still with tears brimming in her eyes.
"i trust you, y/n. i fucking trust you."
you watched how she bit her lips, trying to not cry in front of you. it is the first time you heard her curse, and it stings more than you expected it to be.
"i..."
you were about to calm her down, but the tears on her face trailed off your words.
"i know you were going to continue practicing if i said i do, that was why i said i didn't!"
you tear away your gaze, settling it on the ground. you never know that was the reason. you trusted her so you believe she's telling the truth right now.
"is that enough of a reason, park y/n?!"
you feel your body jerked up upon her stern and sudden scream. now minji is really scaring you.
"i–"
"look at me, park y/n."
you fidget your fingers, and tears start brimming in your eyes. you feel so conflicted right now. you really don't want to cry here, in front of her, but she never talked to you this harshly. you badly want to comfort her but how could you when you can't even look at her without crying?
"i'm sorry, minji."
you shut your eyes tight when your voice wavered. now, she's going to know that you are on the verge of crying.
"i'm sorry for pushing you away, for putting you on the edge, for annoying you with my immature ways, for doubting you. i really am sorry."
you let your chin meet your chest as you let all the tears fall down to the floor. your clenched fists are probably white right now from the effort to suppress your emotions. you hate how she keeps silent even after a few more droplets fall from your face to the floor.
overwhelmed with your tears and emotions, you feel like running away from this room, from the same space with minji, before you get drowned in it.
and so you did.
you run away.
"y/n!"
you catch the way minji calls out for you, but you can't bear being in there anymore.
you have always been this way, trying to get away from the person who is the source of your difficulties. you did not learn how to open yourself to others when you were growing up. your parents always tell you that you shouldn't weep since sobbing is only for the weak. even worse, your parents aren't the kind to inquire about how your days are going. when they once saw you crying by yourself beneath your covers, they scolded you harshly, telling you that you were being overly sensitive about a little matter. it was one of your most painful childhood recollections. With all the regular girl friendship issues, middle school was a difficult period for you. you understand that it's okay to express your feelings the way you did a few years ago, but you still have a tendency to revert to your previous behaviours as time goes on.
just like now.
but you can't face minji, at least, not now.
you said the same thing the last few days, y/n
can your inner thoughts stop bothering the fuck out of you for a second?
you clenched your fist tighter, hating how pathetic your minds are probably looking inside right now.
you walk as fast as you can against a few people, your muscle memory saving you from disrespecting the staff here as you bow and bow. you let out a deep exhale upon seeing the front door of the building.
a bit more, y/n. a bit more.
"y/n!"
oh shit.
you stop abruptly, almost bumping into yunjin, a figure you considered your own sister now, who is now looking at you with a worried expression painted on her face.
"you okay, honey?"
you could only shake your head before burying your face into her chest, not wanting her to see your tears-stained face.
"it's okay, i'm here, y/n. i'm here."
Tumblr media
minji, on the other hand, is back in the dance practice room after making sure she washed over all traces of tears on her face. it's enough that they have seen her cry a few days ago. she doesn't want to worry them more.
"minji unnie, where is y/n unnie?"
haerin watches intently, trying to figure out anything.
"uhh, she..."
unnie is probably making an excuse now.
"i asked her to go take a rest for the day."
that's totally a lie, minji unnie, there's no way y/n unnie will take a rest that easily. we all know how stubborn she is.
"she does seem tired earlier. did she train overnight last night again?"
hanni questions, which earns a nod from minji.
"i was awake when she went out but i don't know when she came back last night."
minji explains, gaining nods from the others.
haerin noted to herself to take care of both you and minji later.
i'll make sure they solve whatever problem they are having tonight.
Tumblr media
minji panicked when she couldn't see a trace of you being in the house right now. it has been almost six hours since you left so she thought that you should at least be home now.
"y/n unnie isn't here.", "not here too.", "where did this brat go?"
minji watches as panic starts to spread among the members upon the missing of their one and only y/n.
noticing this, she instantly calmed them down.
"she probably went outside to, you know, take a walk or something. you guys know how she like to do that, right?"
minji watches as the others nod their heads in agreement. she could only mentally pray that her guess of your whereabouts is correct, or she might kill herself over guilt.
Tumblr media
"unnie, that's so unfunny!"
it's bizarre how you are saying that when you are having the time of your life laughing at yunjin's dad jokes.
"y/n is the only one who understands the joke! oh, i love you, y/n."
you shriek as yunjin pecks you continuously on the cheek, making a grimaced expression despite not really hating it.
"yeah, you two can go and debut as a duo. a gagman duo."
the whole living room resonates with laughters from yunjin's members as you watch her pouts.
suddenly, a knock was heard from the front door of lesserafim's dorm.
"anyone expecting a guest?"
chaewon being the leader she is, questions.
seeing that all of them shake their heads in confusion, you watch as chaewon walks toward the screen displaying the front door's camera view.
"oh? it's minji-ssi. did you ask her to come here, y/n?"
oh shit.
yunjin probably notices how your face drops.
"you fought with her, didn't you?"
yunjin whispers to your ear, respecting your privacy in front of the others.
you have no choice but to nod weakly. and you also have no choice but to let minji know you are here. god forbid where she will go to search for you. heck, she might even go to the forest to make sure you are not there.
"i didn't but i guess i need to go now, guys."
you stand up as eunchae complains cutely.
"aww, it'll be boring without you!"
"what do you mean, manchae? i'm literally here?"
yunjin slips in.
"exactly."
you watch as the girls hold their stomachs while laughing their ass out. yunjin will forever be the teased one in this group.
"i'll come visit you guys more often, okay?"
you assured them as you finished packing up your stuff inside your bag.
"you better be, y/n."
you nod at zuha's unthreatening threat. waving the last goodbye before opening the door, not looking back at minji as you walk past her.
"hey, y/n!"
you know you need to stop to wait for the elevator, so you stop in your tracks anyway, allowing minji to catch up with you. perhaps your stare is too intense when you catch how minji's stern facade is being replaced with a softer one. knowing that she will probably keep silent like she did twice before, you break the silence first, gazing down at the worn-out tiles.
"look, minji..."
"i'm sorry, y/n."
your head stayed down as only your eyes moved up. watching intently as minji takes a step closer to you.
“i know i shouldn't have shouted at you like that even when i’m mad. it is so uncall of me.”
you watch her fidgeting her own fingers. you forgive her, honestly. you can understand why she shouted at you, especially when you look back at how much you frustrated her earlier.
"c-can i hug you?"
you heart stings upon hearing the vulnerable question. a sudden realization hits you that your fight with minji is getting worse than you expected to the point that she is scared to initiate any physical contact with you, which is so unlikely of her. she has always been the affectionate one between the both of you. the members have always complained that you are getting special treatment, which you need to deny because it is just that they are too affectionate, not that it is a bad thing at all.
"please, y/n."
you hate to see and hear her begs so desperately for what used to be so easy to get. not wasting any second anymore, you grab her wrist and pull her into your embrace, wincing softly when your swollen wrist hits her back.
"i miss you, y/n."
the sudden confession from minji distracts you from the pain as you feel her letting out a deep exhale of what you think is contentment on your neck. you blame the cold hallway that somehow makes you more emotional than usual as you feel yourself crying when she starts rubbing your back.
"i miss you too, min."
you couldn't care anymore if she notices how your voice cracks a bit from holding back the tears. you bite your bottom lips when she pushes you impossibly closer, her body warming you the exact way it has always done whenever you get cold, like right now. you agree even more with the nickname "official radiator" dani gives to her.
both you and minji didn't notice how lesserafim's door unlocked, yunjin and chaewon's head peeking out from behind the door.
"excuse us but you better get going to your dorm now before you start making out in front of OUR dorm."
you watch as minji panics, trying to let go of the hug, but you keep your hold on her tight.
"mind your own business, unniedeul!"
"oh, you are ditching me now that you have made up with your girlfriend, y/n-ssi?"
you watch how minji turns even panicked and somehow, your heart feels like it just gets punched.
"unnie, what the hell?! she is not my girlfriend?!"
you hate how the denial rolls off your tongue. you hate how you can feel minji loosening your grip on her waist, but you still let go of her, hating to make her feel uncomfortable. after all, her comfort is your utmost priority. minji is your utmost priority, if we exclude your career, of course. but she doesn't need to know that. as if she will feel the same way if you ever tell her about it.
"whatever, don't stay here too long, y/n and minji!"
"yeah..."
your voice trailed off before they finally shut the door. you let minji drag you after she intertwines your hand with hers into the just-arrived elevator.
you stay silenced, trying your best to hide your reddened face from minji.
"can i ask you something, y/n?"
you hum albeit the weird feeling in your stomach starts appearing again.
"what was that about?"
what?
"what?"
"i saw you blushing earlier, y/n."
you look up as you watch how confusion fills minji’s face.
"what? no, i wasn’t."
you denied as you sensed a lump forming in your throat.
“don’t lie, y/n."
did she know?
no way.
"yes, i did, min."
you feel the lump growing bigger as you watch minji hesitate for a while.
"why?"
"no reason."
you know where this conversation will lead you and you are not willing to do it, not here, not when you just get to talk to her normally again.
"you like me?"
it is as if a huge rock falls on your shoulder as you feel her question weighs you down.
"of course, i like you, min. you are my best friend."
a sting is felt in your heart yet you ignore it, focusing on averting minji from this topic. you lift your face to see her completely dazed face. usually, you can read her like an open book but now, you can’t tell what is she thinking about.
“that’s not what i mean, y/n.”
why is she being like this?
you wonder to yourself, what does she want you to answer her because you sure can see a glint of disappointment in her deep eyes. too deep in your thought, you jumped upon the elevator's sudden sound at your arrival on the ground floor.
“what is this about, min?”
you questioned, getting tired of guessing her actual purpose of asking all of this. it doesn’t even feel like she asked because she feels the same. it feels more like she is interrogating you, as the leader kim minji.
you followed her from behind as she walked out of the elevator. your question is left ignored and you feel a piece of glass stabbed in your heart.
she knew you liked her.
she knew you like girls, park y/n.
she is disgusted by you, park.
and with her silence, your inner demon wins over your thoughts.
Tumblr media
minji is troubled by your eerie silence. she wants to tell you about her feelings but listening to your nonchalant answers earlier makes the balloon of her hope burst just like that. she never explicitly told you about her preferences on love but she supposed she made it obvious when she always gushes over female idols more than male idols. she always takes notes on how your face would look like it will explode anytime soon when she overpraises one of the idols, especially when it comes to her new friend, liz from ive. she knew you think that liz is more attractive than you despite her always convincing that you are the prettiest, which always leads to you getting your face reddened like a tomato.
but at the end of the day, she only has one person in her heart.
Tumblr media
"y/n."
you immediately fix your position before scooting over to the other side of the car. your eyes fixated at the view outside of the window. you feel your heart getting heavier as each second passes by. you can’t deal with her now. you refuse to let your demon cheer over your loss and hurt minji again.
"hey..."
you feel her hand creep around your arm, circling it as you feel the car seat beside you sink in.
you detangle her arm and push it away carefully. with the presence of your manager in the driver's seat, you can’t risk yourself spilling something you shouldn’t.
"let's just talk later, minji."
"oh..."
a pang on your chest.
and another one, a bit harder, when you feel the seat rise up back.
you feel the intense stare of minji from your right side, probably trying to make a hole into your brain to see what you were thinking. you ignored it, turning away to watch the view outside once again.
you can do this, y/n. a bit more.
and your wish did come true when you caught sight of your dorm building. you suddenly take notice of your bag, filled with your belongings that were supposed to be sprawled out in the practice room. you grab the bag and mutter a small gratitude towards minji, hoping that she heard it and just in time, the car stops, signalling that you have arrived in front of the building.
"i'm very sorry for troubling you, unnie."
"it's okay, y/n. just, rest a lot and minji, make sure the girls sleep early. you need to practice again tomorrow, get it?"
"yes..."
you quickly get yourself out of the car and minji thinks that you are going to leave her behind, but you go around the car, opening up the door for her.
you catch her surprised face but brush it off, not wanting to create a chance for her to talk to you about earlier.
just, let you breathe without thinking about it for a second.
silence fills the air as both of you walk your way to the elevator, and luckily, the elevator arrives just in time. you walk inside, followed by her.
the silence is slowly filled with awkwardness as you glance at her fidgeting hands, aching to hold them like you always do but you hold yourself back, knowing better not to.
“do you want to talk inside the dorm or should we go somewhere else?”
“what?”
you hate how she flinched slightly over your reply. you just simply hate being awkward with her.
“you said, we sh-should talk about it later?”
oh shit. i said that out of spite, damn.
“uhh, i think we can go talk inside your room.”
“yeah, that should do.”
right after the elevator door opens on your level, you step out and about to walk straight to the said room after entering the house. about to because apparently, the other girls are worried about you.
“unnie, where did you go?”, “are you alright, y/n unnie?”, “y/n, where the heck were you?”
amidst the chaos breaking out, you notice how haerin stands still, her stare on you feels like she has a clue on what is going on but you brush it off, knowing that there is no way minji told her about the arguments you two had.
upon the entrance of minji, the girls start surrounding her, leaving both you and haerin having a staring session.
“unnie.”
you follow haerin’s gaze as she walks closer to you.
“yes, haerin-ah?”
“can we talk?”
oh no.
it is not that you are scared of her knowing the truth and being disgusted at you but you don’t want to make minji the bad guy here no matter if she is or not. at the end of the day, both you and minji are her unnies whom she relies on a lot.
“sure, but i need to talk to minji first, okay?”
you catch how hesitation flashes over her eyes before she nods, probably knowing that it is enough that you agreed to talk with her later.
“and uh, i kinda need to use your room for a while, can i?”
she nodded again before you turn around, watching the girls attacking minji with questions.
“min.”
the call meant to take minji’s attention has taken the other’s attention as well.
“let’s go.”
you follow minji’s track after she nods and walked her way to her room albeit the noise of confusion filling the living room.
Tumblr media
“about what you said earlier…”
you take a deep breath.
this is it, y/n. you are going to deny it and bury this feeling forever.
“i like you, y/n.”
what?
“no, no. you d-don’t have to pretend.”
you ramble, only now aware of the fact that minji’s face is right in front of you, causing you to step back in surprise.
“y/n.”
you were caught off with how minji’s eyes are filled with tears.
why is she crying?
“y-yes?”
“do you hear me the first time?”
how can you like and hate how serious she is being right now?
“of course, i do but that’s not the po—”
your words are cut short again when she grabs your hands, a bit more careful with the left one, before staring at you so intensely that you can see the swirl of emotions inside them.
“park y/n, i love you.”
you want to be convinced so bad but her dazed and confused face flashes right before you can respond to her confession.
“aren’t you disgusted by me?”
“what?”
you watch the bewildered expression on her face before it turns into acknowledgement.
“why would i be?”
you feel yourself shrinking when minji’s deep and stern voice intimidates you.
“b-because i like girls?”
you watch her cautiously when she sighs deeply.
“didn’t i just told you that i love you, y/n?”
“y-yes?”
“and you are a girl, aren’t you?”
oh.
you feel stupid for getting it just now.
“oh.”
it’s the only thing that could come out of your mouth as you process what you just heard.
“seriou—”
“you love me?!”
minji covers your mouth with her big hand.
“bro, are you going to let the whole world know?”
you watch how her face reddens and how she tries to look anywhere but at you. once again, you are reminded of how much you love the other girl and how much you want to be hers. overwhelmed with emotions, you hug her, needing her warmth to keep you grounded.
noticing her silence, you continue your words.
“i was not expecting it.”
you smile upon feeling her smile on your forehead.
“expecting what?”
you feel so much calmer as her hands stroke your hair. your entire body begins to warm up as you realise that you can now get her to do it to you without a reason now.
“you liking me back…”
she pulls away, looking at you in disbelief.
“why do you think i went to see you at 3 in the morning the other day for?”
“because you were being a caring member?”
you watch as she facepalms herself, prompting a laugh to slip from your lips.
“bro, you are like, super dense. damn…”
“hey, i am not!”
you hit her arm playfully, and waves of laughter fill the small space.
“so you weren’t walking away because you were disgusted by me?”
“hell, no!”
you smile as you feel her embrace get tighter.
“i will never be disgusted by you, y/n.”
you were about to kiss her cheek,
“okay, maybe if you cooked me something with carrot, i might be.”
and she ruined it just like that. you huff in annoyance before wiggling yourself out of her embrace.
“where are you going?”
you watch how she asks you with innocence plastered on her face.
“we aren’t staying here all night, are we?”
you hold out your right hand, immediately getting it intertwined with minji’s one as she smiles sheepishly.
“right.”
Tumblr media
as promised, you are going to talk to haerin inside her shared room with minji after making sure to explain, well, almost everything to the girls. minji has made sure you are holding a bag of ice wrapped in a towel on your left wrist beforehand.
“y/n.”
you turned around, meeting minji’s worried eyes with your confused ones. she brought you to the kitchen after excusing both of you from the other girls.
“yeah?”
you caught how her gaze moved from your eyes to your left hand, or more specifically, your left wrist.
“you hurt that, right?”
instinctively, you tried—emphasis on tried—hiding your hand but minji is undeniably faster at grabbing your arm, slowly and carefully lowers her hands to hold your wrist.
“how did you know?”
“i—”
“you were staring at me, i know.”
“bro—”
you chuckled when you saw her pout. your lips naturally meet her pouted one, as if you have been doing it forever.
“y/n—”
“your lips are so soft.”
you blurted out. it is your first kiss so you have nothing to compare hers with but you are sure that her lips are the softest lips you will ever kiss.
“it was my first kiss.”
“wha— y/n! your first kiss shouldn’t be that short!”
“then kiss me again...”
you never knew where you got the courage to say it so easily but when minji took a step forward, you knew it was because you were going to share it with her, with the one and only kim minji. the only girl that you’ve liked so earnestly your entire life. with a smile softer than you’d ever seen before, she made another step toward you, her hands resting on your chest. her face moved past your face,
“may i?”
you gasped silently when her lips slightly brushed with your earlobe. you’re relieved that she can’t see how red your face is right now.
with your hum of agreement as a cue, you close your eyes when you feel her soft lips against yours again. you can also feel her arms circling around your neck as you grab and rub her waist softly, afraid that she’ll be gone the moment you open your eyes.
contrast to the firework sensation people always associate with a kiss, you feel a tranquillity settling down in you. it feels as if minji is soothing you down, as if minji’s kiss makes you acknowledge that this is not a dream, that she is here, in reality, loving you as much, if not more, as you love her.
you pull her closer as she tightens her arms around you, pulling onto each other for more and when you stop and open your eyes, minji has her eyes closed, heavily exhaling, hair ruffled, and you have never seen a prettier mess than her.
her lips at your ear again, whispering,
“I love you.”
you want this to last forever. slowly, carefully, reverently, you cupped her face with both hands.
you want to kiss her again.
her smile grew even softer, and as if she could read your mind, she nodded.
letting out a small chuckle, you surged forward to kiss her back. minji’s arms wrapped around your back, and with her usual strength, she pulled you close, her tongue diving deeply into your mouth, claiming what always had been hers, anyway. you smiled in the kiss as your eagerness was reciprocated. your arms circled around her waist, the pain on your left wrist is left unbothered as you grip the hem of her hoodie.
you started to feel dizzy, and your heart’s beating was getting erratic but even as breathing became a necessary distraction, you still didn’t want to pull away. you have been waiting for this for so long and you are here now, trying to make the fullest out of it. you hum in satisfaction when you feel her hands tangling in your hair.
yet though, both of you had to part. gasping for oxygen, both of you leaned your foreheads together, eyes closed and bodies pressed against each other’s.
“i love you, minji.”, “i love you, y/n.”
both of you giggled at the coincidence. oh, you love her laugh so much. albeit reluctant shown all over her face, minji let you go, her sweet smile still plastered on her face.
“now, let’s put some ice on your wrist before the members caught us like this.”
you unknowingly blushed at the thought of the girls catching you two kissing like that. you shaked your head, pushing away the thought.
it’s embarrassing!
“why are you shaking your head?”
you thought she didn’t notice it.
“i— i was just—”
“you were thinking about if the girls caught us kissing right?”
how can she read your mind just like that?!
Tumblr media
both of you returned to the living room to spot the girls all huddled up on the sofa, eyes on their own’s phones.
“oh, you’re done, unnie?”
haerin, who noticed both of you first asked. you nod and approach her.
“let’s go?”
“go where?”
curiosity got the best of minji as she blurted out the question.
“i’m not going to take y/n unnie away from you, minji unnie”
“n— no, what do you mean?! i was just curious!”
you giggled when you watch minji brushing haerin’s statement away with her reddened face.
“we’re just going to talk for a while.”
you answered for her, watching her pouts her lips.
“actually, unnie, can i sleep with you tonight?”
it has been so long since you slept with haerin because of the tight schedule. although all of you have assigned roommates, all six of you are always up to sleeping with each other if one of you wants to, like right now.
“sure!”, “y/n!”
before minji could sulk because she couldn’t sleep with you, hanni dragged her to sit on the sofa, asking the taller to watch the tv with her, leaving her with no choice but to stare at you hopelessly while you giggled with haerin dragging you to your shared room.
Tumblr media
“so…”
“did you and minji unnie fight, unnie?”
oh, she’s going straight to the point like she usually is but you always get surprised by it.
“yeah, we kinda did…”
you watched as she nodded in understanding.
“but, we’ve made up though!”
you quickly exclaimed, not wanting to trouble the younger one.
“is your wrist okay, unnie?”
you catch her looking at the ice bag covered by a towel on top of your swollen wrist.
“remember when i fell earlier this morning?”
“i knew something was wrong.”
“huh?”
“i saw how you hid that wrist earlier, unnie.”
you feel the warmth spread over your body when you feel her caress your injured hand carefully.
“i, just, don’t want to let you guys down, you know?”
it has always been easier for you to be honest with haerin. despite being younger, you have always leaned on her secretly, even before you debuted. maybe because the way she shows that she cares with her actions more than her words makes you feel more comfortable to let it out in front of her.
“i know.”
“but,”
and also the moment she uses her words instead,
“you would never let us down, especially me.”
you will find yourself comforted so much by them. so much, that you always end up tearing up in front of her.
“and here you go, making me cry again, haerin-ah…”
Tumblr media
“god, i’m not wishing you guys to fight again or anything, but can you guys keep your hands to yourselves for once?!”
hanni can only sigh in defeat as both of you stick your tongues out. teasing hanni is usually done separately by both of you, but it’s your favourite activity to do with minji now. it has been a few days since minji and you have got together but oth of you agreed on telling the others later when the suitable time comes.
“god, why do you give me two stupid bears as my friends?”
‘hey, don’t call my minji stupid!”, “hey, don’t call my y/n stupid!”
“i’m never hanging out with only the two of them after this!”
you and minji start laughing over the coincidence while hanni runs away, she has never felt this lonely when she thirdwheeled dani and haerin before.
at times, you are reminded how lucky you are to have all five of them as your members. you would never survived as an idol if it was not with them.
and you hope all of them know that too.

IdolMinji x idolreader hcs
A/n: I swear I just need to fill the time I'm writing bullyminji!! hope you like it!
Warnings: hate, body Shame and the rest is all cute!
Tumblr media
You met by being placed as MCs together
She accidentally created her own ship when she said "I want to say something but I'm super shy" to you in front of the cameras
he does challenge with her songs with you whenever a new comeback arrived
You and she started dating and had no experience with it
Made you sing omg in their anchor
At awards shows she takes your hand and stays alone with you while leaving her members , and your members together
asked danielle for help on how to throw a picnic for the two of you
She arranged to meet you at a restaurant and the restaurant was filled with paparazzis
when dispatch posted a photo of you two holding hands that was the end for you
New jeans boy stans gave you massive hate, so when you went live the comments were from users "Newjeanscuties753" or "Minjiunnie11"
started to compare your body with other members
you open a live with one of your members, when you position the camera the numbers are growing every second, you come across comments saying that you missed them and the other member laughs and murmurs "wow.. Have we spent so long without opening a live?" she says jokingly as she focuses her gaze on the camera and fixes her bangs, the more people come in, the more people talk about you, so the comments are divided between "stop harassing Reader!" and "Leave our minji alone!" and then the atmosphere gets heavy and your member looks at you until they see that you don't say anything else "well, do you want to know about what we are planning to do?" trying to get excited, you just nod and mumble as you pull out your phone "let's make a cake for unnie's birthday!!" the member starts to clap and you just smile as you read the comments that start to fill up more, the member narrows her eyes and bite her lower lip gently, You can feel a knot forming when the comments get heavy and you pick up your phone and put it in front of the member who gently opens her eyes and looks at the camera in disguise, then she smiles and turns off the live stream.
Minji comforted you more than anything, when they decided to collaborate on MAMA, they made you dance hype boy on purpose
backstage she had to ask hyein to pretend to cry so she could talk to you
when she saw how nervous you were she hugged you for a few minutes until she heard danielle calling her
She is very protective, she takes care of new jeans then she is protective without knowing it, but this is all because she loves you
On your birthday she called you to her dorm and all your members and the new jeans were there
won't reveal your relationship for fear of people talking about your body
sued a man who created an account posting deepfake of you
Haerin loves it when you go to see Minji because she makes a lot of food to impress you
She's secretly a loser and when you play card games she takes pity on you and lets you win, not even bothering to see Hyein and Hanni's grumbles.
loves to kiss your cheek
when they put your group and hers up for interview and the interviewer asked you "what's it like to be the least popular in your group, and only be famous because of a rumor?" the atmosphere became tense, she could feel Haerin next to her stopping looking at the camera and looking sideways at you as she saw you blush and play with your fingers as you stumbled over your words "i..hm... I admire my fans so much be-" and then as if a god had appeared, your leader interrupts you "well... I think she's the second most famous in our group... and has this rumor already been explained?.." your leader gives an exaggeratedly fake smile and minji could feel her members sighing and their shoulders relaxing when their leader defended you
She arranged to travel to Paris with you, but when you arrived an hour after her at the Europort, the paparazzi were already there, and it was on all the gossip sites.
loves buying furry coats for you
Sometimes she calls you "bro" and at the same moment, without you questioning, he apologizes and kisses your cheek
gave you a Chanel kit as a gift
When you're passing by a store and see a cute outfit, she buys it for you
makes you sit on her lap when it's too cold to put your arms around her waist
Sometimes she has a fit and starts mumbling things in Korean
she bought you several gifts, but he made you wear a set that she almost knelt down on, and when you wore it she was in love again (this.
wrote one of the parts of ditto thinking of you
fans captured your group's album with your signature on her shelf
hyein sometimes calls you "unnie girlfriend" without meaning to and minji feels like putting her head in the ground
bought minecraft for you to play and made mods so her bed has your face

﹅ 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹; 𝗸𝗶𝗺 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗷𝗶
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
﹅ summary — minji has always been neglectful in your relationship, but she has never laid a hand on you. that is, until you and haerin did "fanservice" during a show.
﹅ content — abusive/toxic relationship, 6thmember!reader
﹅ word count — 1.8k
﹅ a/n — i just read a wattpad story that was written using ‘you’ instead of ‘i’, and for some reason i completely forgot that was an option so here i am testing it out. please enjoy! i also didn’t know what kind of plot you preferred, so i just wrote like a more ‘psychologically abusive’ plot instead of physical
Tumblr media
“Y/N!” Minji called out, walking around the dorm to look for you. After hearing her voice, you quickly scrambled to stand up, pushing the sheets off of your lap. Hanni raised her eyebrow at your sudden movement, sitting up from her relaxed position on the bed.
“I’m in here,” you replied, your voice having a noticeable quiver. Minji turned the corner, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw you in the room. She looked over to Hanni, her eyes examining the bed where you two were just sitting.
“Can you come with me?” Minji pleaded, walking over to where you were awkwardly standing to grasp your hand. Hanni whined, holding your other arm in her grip.
“But we were watching something!” She exclaimed, tugging you back down on the bed. Minji gave you a warning look, clearly telling you to diffuse the situation, but you were too scared to speak up.
“Just let me borrow her for a second, bro.” Minji pulled your arm again, her hold on your arm beginning to cut off your circulation.
“Hanni, it’s fine. We can always watch something later.” You reassured her, giving her a smile that struggled to reach your eyes. She reluctantly let you go, her expression telling you that she knew something was wrong. Ignoring the part of you that wanted to comfort her, you let Minji pull you toward her room. She closed the door behind you two, holding your shoulders.
“What did I tell you, Y/N? It’s so obvious she likes you!” Minji scolded you, moving her hands to the side with a sigh. “I’m not mad. I just wish you’d spend less time with her. I don’t want her getting the wrong idea about you.” You nodded, taking a step away from her towards the bed. She sat beside you, wrapping her arm around your waist and pulling you closer to her. “I trust you,” she whispered. “Don’t give me a reason not to.” You nodded, relaxing into her touch. Minji pulled away from you and made her way to the door. Holding her arm out, she gestured outside. “You can go back to Hanni now.” You looked up at her nervously, trying to decide from her expression if this was a test or not.
Leaving her room and walking to Hanni’s room, you opened the door and saw Hanni dart back to her place on the bed. “How much did you hear?” She froze for a moment, before shrugging.
“Just the end. By the way, what did she mean by don’t give her a reason not to trust you?” You opened your mouth before closing it, attempting to formulate a response in your head.
“She gets jealous really easily. So…” You trailed off, not wanting to ramble on with too much information just in case it became unbelievable. She hesitantly nodded, patting the bed beside her. You moved towards her, sitting on the edge of the bed to create as much space between you two as possible.
After a few minutes of watching a movie, while paying very little attention to it, you began to feel uneasy. What if it was a test? You jolted up from your spot on the bed, saying your rushed goodbyes to a startled Hanni. You briskly walked into Minji’s room, seeing her sitting at her desk with her computer. “Minji.” Her head whipped around, a scowl taking place on her face.
“Y/N, get out! I was almost done recording my part!” She shouted, standing up from her chair. You froze, like a deer caught in headlights. The last thing you expected was for Minji to be upset at you for leaving Hanni’s room. “What are you waiting for? I said leave!” You backed out of her room, the door slamming in your face the second you crossed the doorway.
“Y/N?” You turned around to see Hyein standing behind you, the rest of the girls peeking their heads out of the room.
“It’s fine.” You blurted out, trying to speed-walk to your room so that they wouldn’t see your tears fall.
“It’s not fine!” You felt a hand catch your sleeve, turning around to see Hanni holding on to you. “This isn’t the first time I’ve heard Minji yell at you like that. What’s going on, Y/N?” She begged for an answer, her eyes wide, almost doe-like.
“Nothing's wrong!" You snapped, immediately regretting it when you saw Hanni flinch. "We're all just really stressed because of the comeback. That's all." You freed yourself from Hanni's grasp, turning on your heel to walk back to your room.
"Whatever! Don't forget our comeback show in the morning!" Hanni shouted down the hall at your retreating figure. You closed the door, letting out a sigh as you pressed your back to the door.
You had already accepted the fact that Minji had never experienced a particularly healthy relationship, which is why she treated you the way she did. The unhealthy mannerisms that she'd absorbed from previous relationships slowly trickled into her current ones as well. Despite this, you felt as if you had some sort of duty to stay with her. It wasn't her fault that she behaved like this. If you didn't put up with it, who would?

"Today's special guest is," the host paused for dramatic effect, even though there wasn't a crowd. "NewJeans!" You guys walked on stage, bowing politely at the staff behind the camera. "So, I heard you guys have a comeback soon. It'll probably be released by the time this is uploaded." 5 heads peeked out from their spots on their chairs, looking down towards the leader.
"We do. I don't want to give any spoilers just in case this comes out first, so I'll just hope you enjoy it when it comes out! We really enjoyed making it!" Minji smiled, holding her hand out toward the camera. That was something you'd always admired about her. The way she adapted to different situations so quickly. Time passed as you guys talked more about the comeback, laughing as everyone tried to avoid spoiling it.
"Haerin!" Her head perked up, looking up at the host. "Do you have anything to add? You've been pretty quiet." Haerin let out an awkward laugh, shaking her head.
"She usually prefers to listen and observe people, rather than speak herself." Minji chimed in.
"...listen and observe," Haerin confirmed, nodding her head, resulting in laughs from the others.
"Despite this, it seems like people enjoy your interactions with Y/N." Haerin nodded, looking over at you with a smile.
"Yeah! It's super entertaining to watch Y/N just ramble on about anything, and Haerin just loves to listen." Danielle interjected. You looked over to Minji, only to see her looking back with an unreadable expression. You turned your gaze back to the host as he started speaking again.
"Anything to say to the Haerin and Y/N fan club?" The host joked, holding an invisible microphone between you two.
"Our relationship is very new, and we've only known each other for a couple of months, but we'll do our best to bring you guys more interactions!" You exclaimed, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, and her hand coming up to complete your half-heart. For the rest of the show, Minji replaced Haerin as the silent one, seemingly deep in thought. Fortunately, the host didn't comment on it.
"Thank you!" The six of you bowed towards the staff, walking outside to the car.
"That was fun!" Hyein sprawled out on the seat in the car. The conversation turned towards being nervous about the comeback, but you couldn't find it in yourself to join in. You felt Minji's cold gaze on the back of your head, while you closed your eyes and pretended to sleep, not being in the mood for any small talk. The car parked at the dorm and you felt as if your heart was going to beat out of your chest like you were a child awaiting punishment from your parents. You reluctantly stepped out of the car, picking your bag up from the floor. Minji stopped beside you, looking up at the building.
"Come to my room." She left no room for argument, briskly walking away from you. You turned to the side to see Hanni looking at you with a concerned expression, to which you gave her a reassuring smile and walked into the building to the elevator.
Once you buzzed yourself into the dorm, you dragged your feet toward Minji's room. "Minji?" You pushed the door open to reveal Minji pacing in the center of the room.
"Not only Hanni but now Haerin too?"
"Minji, it's not like that."
"Then what is it like?" She quickly pivoted on her heels, cornering you in front of the door. "Because to me, it seems like my girlfriend is flirting with two people, that aren't me!"
"Flirting? I wasn't flirting with them! I just made a heart with her, that's all!" She narrowed her eyes at you, stepping impossibly closer.
"And Hanni?"
"What about Hanni?" She grabbed your collar, slamming you against the door.
"Don't play dumb with me!" You looked down, swallowing spit and the lump in your throat. Minji released your collar once she realized the look on your face, taking a step away from you. "Y/N, I'm..." She trailed off, looking up when she heard the front door open. She took a seat on the bed, putting her head in her hands. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you, seriously. You know that right?" You nodded, sitting in front of her on the floor. She ran her fingers along the length of your shoulders as if she were trying to erase her previous actions.
"I know. I just wish you wouldn't do it so often." She sighed, sliding off the bed to sit beside you.
"I don't do it on purpose, I promise. I just get so mad sometimes." Whispering, she let her fingers trace the hem of your sleeve. You looked down to where she was gliding her fingers, seeing the hints of a bruise hiding under the fabric.
"It doesn't seem like it at times..." You mumbled, looking up at Minji as her expression changed from one of regret to exasperation.
"Are you seriously suggesting that I do this on purpose, again?"
You chewed on your lip, looking away from her with a shake of your head. As always, Minji was unpredictable. She was difficult to read. One second, she seemed as if she'd change, and by the next, she was already back to her old ways. When she was at her best, it was as if you were on cloud nine. She'd be the best lover you could ask for, very attentive and caring. But when she was at her worst, she'd make you feel like you were doing something wrong by even being near her. You never knew how to please her. What if her behavior escalates? Should you leave?
Looking back up at Minji with tearful eyes, she wiped your tears away with her thumbs, pulling you into her embrace.
"I'm sorry. I'll do better in the future."
It wasn't a question of whether you would stay or not.

when it gets tough (we’ll be there)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
kim minji and newjeans, no reader, no romance (anon idk if this is what u wanted but)
angst(?) fluff, requested
tw: overworking, skipping meals
Tumblr media
minji was part of the girlgroup ‘newjeans’.
and she loved it. she loved every single second of it.
except when it got tough. except when she spent the whole night practicing for the comeback, only to get an hour of rest before getting back to practice. except when she curled up into a ball to cry in the corner of her room after studying japanese until her hand cramped.
she would never tell anyone though, especially not her members. her members had their own hardships to work through, and it would be so unfair of her to say anything to them.
so she kept on pushing, practicing until the moon rose, studying until she could see the sun again.
it had felt so easy to skip lunch the first time. she didn’t feel that hungry anyways, she could forgo lunch for a little bit more practice, and it was only one day, right? she’d definitely eat lunch tomorrow!
that’s what she told herself the next day, and the day after that. it was good to diet, she reasoned, after it had become a habit. she needed to take care of her weight anyways.
the rest of newjeans barely saw minji outside of practice, because she was too busy with perfecting the latest choreography, or singing her part again in preparation for the recording of their song.
and this continued.
until the time when hyein cried.
“why doesn’t minji unnie come home anymore? i miss her… i wish she loved us still.” she sniffled.
“she still loves us,” hanni reassured her, “she’s just a bit… tired right now.”
“if she’s tired then she should come to the dorm and sleep, not keep practicing!” haerin exclaimed.
“you’re right, actually. do you wanna go see minji?”
——————
“minji unnie, wake up!”
“hm?” minji grunted sleepily, squinting at the bright desk light. “guys, what are you doing here?”
“checking on you.”
“oh i’m fine, don’t worry about me-“
“then what are those?” haerin pointed.
everyone’s gaze was directed to the tear-stained, half completed papers minji was using as a pillow.
“i just,” tears welled up in minji’s eyes. “i just—“
danielle rushed to minji and enveloped her tightly in her arms.
“i’m sorry!” minji wailed. “you weren’t supposed to know, it’s my problem, not yours-“
“oh, minji.” hanni sighed.
“shhh,” danielle shushed minji. “let it all out.”
they stayed like that, until minji’s sobs had been reduced to uneven breathing and an ache in her chest.
“unnie… you should have told us.”
“it would have affected you too. it’s my problem, i can deal with it.”
“but we’re meant to be a team! right guys?” hyein looked around the room.
“yeah, minji! we’re meant to be a team, overcome obstacles together, laugh together, cry together. let us help you, and we can grow as a team.”
“okay,” minji wiped the tears from her eyes, and smiled at her members, her family.
haerin extended her hands to minji, and pulled her up when she accepted them.
“everyone’s going to see you’ve been crying with your red eyes, you should wash your face,” haerin suggested.
“yeah and i bet you havent eaten either! lets go out to eat unnie, all of us! like a family!”
“okay, okay,” minji chuckled. “we can go out to eat.”
minji was part of the girlgroup ‘newjeans’.
but it was more than that.
they were family.
