If Laurie hated Eric so much, why couldn’t she just admit it to him instead of making his like miserable? And to anybody who likes Laurie, why do you like her? She was horrible. I will never understand how Eric never once thought about ending his life because of the bullying he suffered at the hands of Laurie. I wish the writers had given Eric two older brothers who stood up for him whenever she and Red (their dad) were mean to him.

If DJ Tanner, Laura Winslow, Denise Huxtable, and Kimberly Drummond saw Laurie’s treatment of Eric, they would all shake their heads in disgust.

Thanks for the ask! My answer to that is here. I don't believe that Eric and Laurie hated each other, or that she bullied Eric on the show.

'Bullying' is not the same thing as teasing (or 'burning') someone. Bullying is persistent, unwanted aggressive behavior and it involves a power differential that simply wasn't at play between these two characters. Laurie would burn Eric and he would burn her right back - often worse than she got him. And while Laurie had Red's support in her conflicts with Eric, Eric had Kitty's. Kitty allowed Eric, Hyde, and their friends to make objectively awful comments about Laurie because of her reputation for having a lot of sex. Like this example:

Hyde: *Yawns* Whore

Laurie: Mom, he called me a whore!

Kitty: Yeah. Steven honey, you're too young for coffee. Have some juice.

I like Laurie because she's really sex positive, funny (her burns often made me laugh out loud) and confident (although we see cracks in that confidence that show she has deep-seated insecurities, which make her a more well-rounded and sympathetic character). I enjoyed some of her storylines before she was written off - specifically when Red grapples with her growing up and moving out (and not always making the best choices as a young adult, but supporting her anyway) and when she was pursuing Beauty School and feeling like a failure after she flunked out of college (and how Kitty wouldn't let her quit!). These storylines gave her character some depth, and showed that Laurie isn't just an evil, heartless, person. She's a complex character with goals, insecurities, and a complex relationship with her different family members. But at the end of the day, despite how antagonistic they can sometimes be towards one another, I believe the Formans all love each other and have each other's backs. And that's family... amirite?

Welcome to Cabaret. Season premiere. Part one. Drummond celebrates his first Fourth of July as president by holding a white house barbecue for his staff and their families.

Life clock. Season premiere. Sidney’s mother Sonya (returning guest star Allison Janney) tells Drummond a devastating secret. She has terminal, magic resistant, blood cancer and has less than a year to live.

Five stages. Sonya tells the rest of the families her diagnosis with help from the executor of her will Mikaela Prescott (Nicole Maines).

Denial. Sawyer, Samson and Sidney do not handle Sonya’s news well. Which proves troublesome when Jacob is asked to take lead on a right to die case in Scarsdale.

Help the helpless. To take his mind off of his family’s drama, and to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Coexistence, Drummond throws himself into charity work and pointedly ignores his presidential duties.

Human Jenga. Clyde proposes an ill advised sexual outing to David when he runs into David’s ex boyfriend Lawrence Cooper (Larry Saperstein).

The night the lights went out in West Virginia. Part one. A state wide blackout occurs during a White House gala. And then Justine goes missing.

Smiley. Part two. A disgraced general obsessed with anarchism tries and fails to get Justine to denounce Drummond’s administration. What doesn’t help is Drummond’s refusal to launch a search for her. Fighter, crier or adult. Sonya has a good long talk with Derek Christensen (Daniel Radcliffe) about what she expects to happen when she dies.

Depression. Things start looking bleaker when Sonya takes a sharp left turn for the worse leading Sawyer to make an important decision.

Words. Kimberly encourages Deucalion and Jacob to coach Samson and Sidney through their joint preemptive grief for their mother.

Switzerland. Sawyer makes reservations as a suicide clinic in Switzerland for both him and Sonya. Much to Sidney’s furious indignation.

Checking in. Sawyer and Sonya prepare to go to the clinic.

A Fond Fifth Avenue Family Farewell. Season finale. Part one. The rest of the Five Families gather around Sonya’s deathbed to say goodbye. Final appearances of Stanley Tucci and Allison Janney as Sawyer and Sonya Sullivan.

Acceptance. Season finale. Part two. Sonya and Sawyer’s funeral is held back in New York and Justine tenders her resignation to Drummond.
