The little touches, gestures, and kisses in King the Land captivate me. The way Gu Won gives Sa-Rang little kisses while she continues to explain/say something. The way Sa-Rang naturally wraps her arms around Gu Won like she’s been doing it for years. The way Sa-Rang and Gu Won walk closely to each other as if they can’t stand to be so far apart, even in the same room. The way Gu Won tucks Sa-Rang’s hair in back of her ear or the way Sa-Rang cutely pouts at Gu Won to make him smile.

It’s the little things.

"King The Land has no plot"

people saying King The Land has no plot are out of their minds. it's okay for us to have media centered on healthy relationships, healthy standards and it all be sweet and lovely and cute and even cliche. let's stop making it a standard that just because something traumatizing happened in a show it's suddenly the better show.

let people love King The Land for delivering the romcom some of us miss a lot when they were really hitting in 2016. let people love the cliche.

the plot is Cheon Sarang and Guwon having a healthy relationship with amazing communication while some plots still happen around them. and the fact that people like to yap and complain when we haven't even reached the 11 and up episodes where usually kdramas take a crazy turn is absurd. like...finish the series first before acting so superior and thinking people are so shallow for liking King The Land.

King The Land is good and it makes me feel better when i know my life is shit.

OK King the Land up to ep 6 thoughts now that its up on netflix i like the fl, but i think she doesn't like. take help nearly enough, she's super cool though. i like how capable and committed she is, its really endearing :) the ml is like. a sweetie too but he's super dumb. it's crazy how stupid he is sometimes- like, peeling onions with a knife like that??? he butchered those poor onions i feel horrible for them- and the like 'are you busy?' 'yes. why?' BRO JUST SAY YES- i like that he's at least sorta acknowledging he likes her tho rather than just not like in a lot of series. ep 4 or 5 or whichever one it was was so whacky, like? what in the hell? went from such a normal plotline to the fl falling off a fucking cliff adn the ml taking a fucking helicoper? and trhen he jumps off the cliff after her? like? HUH. WHO? WHAT? can i HELP YOU? it was so weird. cute tho. but weird,

Gu Won really went from, “you’ll never, EVER be my type and I never want to see you again as long as I live,” to “I took a quiz to see how much I like you, but it told me that it’s unrequited love and I find it so rude that it told me that you didn’t like me when you clearly have not told me your feelings, but I really want you to feel my sincerity and like me. I’ll even let you take me on a date.”

I was really hyped to watch the Barbie movie but I ended up being more excited watching a new episode of a kdrama than watching Barbie🤷‍♀️

Cheon Sarang

I haven't seen a lot of praise or discussion on Sarang as a character (an unfortunate result of kdrama lovers being majorly engrossed in male protagonists when they're attractive, pathetically in love, and rich, which i'm not diminishing it's just that people sometimes forget to talk about the female lead in these circumstances)

People can argue that Sarang maybe a boring female lead but i think her portrayal of a working class woman is a very realistic one. She does have that bit of pretty privilege if we can be honest but that doesn't really give her much of an advantage in the world of King The Land. Her climb towards her goal to work in King The Land was something she worked hard for.

We see her have this goal of working for King Hotel and King The Land specifically from the get go. She took her chance to go for the interview even if she knows she lacks the years of education compared to others who were trying out for the position as well.

What makes her so captivating to me is that as nice as we see her interact with her colleagues, she's never a push over and she stands her ground and has very tight morals.

As we saw in Ep. 2 even though Guwon in the end helped her with "Korea's Mother" Mo Seong-Ae, Sarang still had herself composed and ready to do anything and not back down from someone trying to bribe her way to get free upgrades. We also saw this when the grandma and the boat owner were trying to scam them for staying the night in their so-called best hotel in Gapado.

I also love the idea that even though Guwon is generally a kind person himself but is probably just ignorant to the issues of the working class, it's Sarang that brings out the best in him to help the employees more seeing as he can have the power to do so. Sarang never got something just because Guwon wanted her to have it, Sarang already acheived her goals with hard work and Guwon is just recognizing that and recognizing that she and her friends actually deserve trips and incentives given to them.

Everybody says they wish they had a Guwon to love them, which let's be honest i also want that, but i also want to have a Sarang who is kind, understanding, never is one to judge others, truly listens to people's worries and empathizes with them, is strong willed and knows her worth and when she loves, she truly loves and not just in a romantic way but also with her grandma and friends.
