but but but silver fox status aside, it means all that and so much more because this is a Kirk who doesn’t have to die young, he can live, and be happy and content. He can grow old.

“To perfect eyesight, and a full head of hair,” Jim laughs to himself in the midst of his musings.

“Whu….?” A muffled grumble from the other side of the bed responds, and Jim watches with wry amusement as Bones slowly starts to wake. “Wha’ time’s it?”

Jim smiles. He can’t help it. His husband really isn’t a morning person, and the dishevelled look is equal parts hot and adorable.

“It’s early, go back to sleep.”

“Mmm, okay,” McCoy replies pliantly, as he shifts closer to Jim, intending on using his body as a pillow going forward. Jim doesn’t protest, not even a little, relishing instead in the opportunity to stroke the back of McCoy’s head—smoothing down some of the errant hairs that would give the admiralty a conniption.

Moment later, he speaks up again, sounding a little more alert even as he burrows in deeper to the embrace; “and Jim?” He says.

“Yes, Bones?”

“Happy birthday.”

it's been years and i need to solve this mystery. a while back i stumbled across a kirk/bones fic set in an indiana jones esque AU where bones was a well known archeologist who moved from the bay to LA to work for an archeological museum at UCLA, where he encountered kirk, a young hotshot archeologist, and they got pulled to be on the same dig together, and it was a whole big adventure.

i cannot for the life of me remember what the fic was called or who the author was but heres the thing. i was working at the world arts and cultures/archeological museum at UCLA at the time i was reading this fic. and you know when you're reading something about a niche industry you're in or a really niche interest of yours, and you can just tell the author is in it too? there were way too many specific details that wouldn't be easily searchable for the author to not also work in museums in some way. and while the museum world is small, the california and LA museum scene is miniscule. so i swear i must have crossed paths with the author somehow irl

if you know of this fic or who the author is, please help me out and direct me to where i can find the ao3 link or the authors page or something. i just wanna talk
