words cannot describe how much i love corny collins. when you think about it, everything that goes down at the miss teenage hairspray pageant would not have been possible without him gleefully enabling the whole thing; not to mention that he had the EXACT rules memorized (including the number of the paragraph and the fact that there’s apparently an asterisk) to completely stampede over velma’s objections that inez is an ‘invalid’ candidate. (also, i fucking love james marsden’s delivery of that line XD)

and then, to top it all off, he took the inch of inez now automatically being on the show, and then ran a whole damn mile to completely integrate the show right on the spot, and pretty much made it impossible for the station to backpedal on that in one fell swoop.

so heyyy, i’m also watching the dub episodes of my next life as a villainess as they come out, so in between the spop liveblogs, expect to see sprinkles of this show, as i’m adoring it XD

i watched the first 4 episodes last week, before my mental health (which took a dive bc of all the....recent events) had recovered enough, which is why i haven’t talked about this show before. i’m thinking of writing a post about my thoughts and feels towards all the ships so far, but i’m not sure if i’ll go through with that yet. anyway, this is just background info, so let’s get on with ep 5 XDD

i’m putting this behind a cut, bc i rambled on for quite a while XDD these won’t be in any particular order, and the fandoms will be chosen based off of what i’m currently most into/whichever ones i think of first XD

1. Maleficent [Disney]

okay, i lied a little.....she is clearly my #1 favorite character of all time, so of course she’s first (the rest of the list won’t be in any particular order :P). but....yeah, i love her forever and for all time and eternity, i love her class and elegance, my hunt for all merchandise of her that i can get my hands on is legendary and knows no bounds, she’s my forever girl, etc, etc. if you know only one fact about me, it’s probably that i love maleficent. there’s nothing i can say here that i haven’t probably already said a million times over, so i’ll move on XD

(moana has risen to be a pretty close second, tho)

2. Anthony J. Crowley [Good Omens]

i read the book from a library over a decade ago, and i liked it well enough, but it like....wasn’t an instant new fave that i had to immediately buy for myself (tho it is on a list of books that i wouldn’t mind owning...but maybe it’s finally time, who knows). i’m halfway through the show, and i’ve finally fallen in love with it (i think it finally being a #confirmed love story between our favorite ineffable idiots finally gave it the push it needed XD). it’s still a bit early for me to have a solid, definite fave, but lbr, if i know myself at all, it’s gonna be crowley XD i love this dumb demon (who’s rivaled in his idiocy only by his equally dumb angel husband), i love how he’s so soft even as he tries desperately to convince himself and everyone else that he isn’t, that he loves so many things and humanity and an angel even as he tries to say that he isn’t capable of it, that he never stopped questioning even after it had made him Fall. also, i am so thankful that the fandom has really embraced the potential for the shenanigans of crowley’s snake form.👍

(second place is probably aziraphale, but i also really love anathema too)

3. Namine [Kingdom Hearts]

another one that probably comes as no surprise, if you know me. i love this girl to the ends of the universe. i love the way she reclaimed her agency, her selflessness and determination, her empathy and kindness, how she went from a damsel in distress to pretty much saving everyone, over and over and over again. she deserves only happiness and the best things from now on. and please, for the love of god, give her some new clothes, nomura. >_>

(second fave is roxas, tho really, i love 98% of all the characters in this series ;;;)

4. Aerith Gainsborough [Final Fantasy VII]

my precious sunshine girl 💖 i prefer her in the original game, where she was sweet and optimistic, yes, but she was also sassy and fierce and took shit from no one. i love the girl that decided she wanted to wear a sexy red dress just for the hell of it, and threatened to rip off a mafia don’s balls. i love the girl that was confident and flirty with cloud, but never let any kind of bullshit ‘rivalry’ get in the way of being friends with tifa. i love that she always called cloud out on his bullshit, that she never let tragedy and oppressive shinra forces grind out her optimism, that she never stopped dreaming of a better future. i love that she was exposed to the worst of human nature, and yet still believed that they were worth saving. i love all versions of aerith, obvs, but they’ve definitely smoothed out her edges over the years, and i think that’s a shame. so here’s hoping that she’ll be more like her original self in the remake. 

also, can’t wait to see aerith die again :)))))))

5. Ling Yao / Greed [Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood]

look. listen. i can’t choose between them, i just can’t. and hey....technically they sort of combine into one entity, so it’s totally fine to count them together, right?? XDD so yeah, it’s really fucking hard to pick a fave out of this cast, bc there’s only like....3 characters?? that i don’t love. but ultimately, it had to be these two. every single second they’re on screen, they totally steal the show, and they have a lot of the best scenes and moments in the series. i love ling, how he seems like a total goofball and comic relief at first, but fairly quickly you come to see just how fucking seriously he takes his duties and responsibilities, how selfless and devoted he is to his people, how he would walk through hellfire for the people he loves. he’s just....he just loves, so fiercely and intensely, that he moves even greed into loving him and the people he cares about without even trying. 

and then there’s greed, who even from the beginning, you can’t help but be charmed by, with his sarcastic slow claps and laidback attitude. but over time, you see that he’s just like ling, really, in that he can’t help but get attached to these humans, that he loves them just as fiercely and intensely, even as he desperately tries to play it off. i love the way his character serves as a means for the story to have a really thought-provoking rumination on the nature of sins and desires, and on humanity (as do all of the other homunculi). i could go on forever about these two, and about the show in general, bc it’s just so deep and incredibly layered and complex, so i’ll stop here.

6. Bucky Barnes [MCU]

it’s hard for me to talk about bucky without just dissolving into endless sobbing, but i’ll try my best. he’s just.....he’s someone who has ended up suffering so fucking much, who has every reason in the world to be angry and bitter and resentful and if this was the villain origin story, you’d probably find it hard to blame him. (also, i refuse to say that bucky was ever a villain, bc he never willingly chose to be with hydra, he’s a victim goddamn it--) and yet....he still chooses to be good. to be kind. he could have chosen to go on an endless revenge tour against hydra, but instead he focuses on his own recovery. and always, always, always, he puts other people first. he chooses to goddamn freeze himself, possibly forever, so that he doesn’t hurt people again. he’s truly an inspiration to me, because even after everything he’s been through, he still doesn’t give up. ......and if you’ll excuse me, i need to resume crying about bucky barnes for the rest of eternity 😭😭😭

(next faves are sam and steve. what can i say, i love my caps XP)

7. Keladry of Mindelan [Tortall]

speaking of inspirations, few (if any) characters inspire me more than kel does. unlike every other tortall protagonist, she has absolutely no magic at all, and she starts her story with more odds stacked against her than any of the others. the system and institution are against her, and most people actively, viciously hate her and want to see her fail, all for being a girl and daring to openly step outside of her gender roles. and yet, kel never gives up, and wins through pure will and determination. more than that, she never stops fighting any oppression that she sees, and is always looking out for the abused and marginalized of society. she is fair and just and righteous, and full of a quiet, immovable strength that i, frankly, envy. she’s a fucking mountain; you haven’t a hope of ever tearing her down. 

(other faves....george, raoul, and dom. it’s really fucking hard to choose between them, i can’t even)

8. Oree Shoth [Inheritance trilogy, by N. K. Jemison]

oree is pretty much single-handedly responsible for me loving this trilogy, and is the reason why The Broken Kingdoms (the second book, of which she is the protagonist) is in my top 3 favorite books of all time. she is....just so fucking radiant. she’s a blind artist, and is flung so far out of her depth in the story, and yet she holds her own. in this world of gods, she brings this incredibly human element, and is celebrated because of her humanity. she’s angry and flawed, but also full of love, compassion, kindness, and mercy. she teaches gods the meaning of forgiveness. she takes shit from no one. just....do yourself a favor, and read this series, even if it’s only so that you can read this book. 

(second fave....it’s probably shiny, lbr XD)

9. Sirius Black [Harry Potter]

ahhh, a classic fave. but yeah, i still love him, even after all these years. yes, he’s incredibly flawed, but at his core, he’s just so loyal, and he loves so fiercely, and he tries his absolute best to be there for harry, that i can’t help but love him. also, i have a Thing, for characters who suffer so tremendously, but who don’t give up, and still try their best to be good people anyway. also, wolfstar was the foundation of a very formative part of my life, and put me onto the road of accepting my queer identity, so i’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for the characters who were a part of that. 🤷‍♀️

(other faves are luna and harry, always)

10. Gladion [Pokemon]

mostly his anime incarnation, tho i do like him in the games as well. i love this soft goth boy with all of my heart. he’s so gentle and kind and loving, and i can’t even with him.

me: i want to play kh3, savoring the experience, but also not wasting time in making my way to the end, so that i can both know how it all plays out and also stop being plagued with anxiety about being spoiled. but i’m physically disabled, and have IRL things that can’t be completely ignored, so i gotta pace myself for that too

(so hahahaha, i’m now 6 pages and nearly 3000 words into a new fanfic, and my brain being pulled in two different directions at once by this and kh3, and trying to balance my disability and life against them both....and i suddenly hate how my brain always has to be Inconvenient when it comes to handing out writing inspiration. :///)

(this fanfic mostly started as a way for me to get ash to polyship with all three of my otps with him, and be together with gladion, clemont, and gary at the same time, and the red string of fate seemed like a fun way to play around with ash’s aura powers, as only he can see them, plus it’s a way for some rumination on a few of my other favorite relationships that ash has....but now it’s starting to sprawl out, and i can already feel that it’s probably going to turn into a lengthy monster, and i’m standing on a slippery slope....*sighs*)

so hey.......y’all remember when i said that sometimes, just for fun and the hell of it, i make lists of “endgame” ships in my fandoms? bc yeah, that’s a thing that i do sometimes. XD

having now finished kh3, i’ve finally finished my endgame ship list for kh, and i figured that it might be a fun thing to share!

the actual list i’m gonna put behind a cut, bc it’ll be hella long (bc seriously.....i put about 95% of the characters into ships, and this includes all of the humanoid-ish disney characters too (barring most of the villains, bc....well, those characters are dead)), but before that, i’ll give you some....idk, context behind this list. 

keep in mind, this entire affair is just like........gonna involve a fuck-ton of indulgence on my part. and most of this is fairly light-hearted. most importantly of all, this is pretty much a self-challenge: i paired up the majority of the characters just to see if i could, with the additional challenge that i could only pair them with characters that actually, canonically, have appeared in kh (this means that i couldn’t substitute in other final fantasy or disney characters); i did this to see how creative i could get with my ships, really. 

idk if i’ll ever actually get around to writing fanfic for this verse (tho i do have a lot of headcanons, and i’ve actually put (probably far too much) thought into how i think these ships would work/come about, and my long-suffering friend Ip, bless her, has been an incredibly good sport about being a sounding board for all this), but i tend to refer to it as my “Healing Vision”, and it’s basically a post-kh3 AU, that presumes that everyone but xehanort (and also eraqus) got to live happily ever after. and this verse is so named bc, apart from everyone being able to heal and be happy after the traumatic canon, i also wanted to do my absolute best to put them in.....idk, healthy ships, and not ones that i think would be more toxic. everyone had redemption arcs, is what i’m saying (even if they never did or would have gotten them in canon).

y’all don’t understand, at this point i probably have over a hundred pages in various word docs of notes about this verse, so please feel free to ask if you want to hear more about it, i need validation of my madness---

- zack’s alive bc they forced hades to resurrect him like he did with auron (my hc is that the deal he made with cloud in kh1 was to bring zack back to life, but hades reneged on this; when cloud finally shared this info with sora, a Quest was undertaken to get hades to honor the deal)

- repliku’s name in this verse is Kiru (he decided to go along with the Theme, minus the sigil); sora’s mom is named Hikari; and i’m going with henry and florian for the real names of prince charming and snow’s prince, respectively (marluxia will probably still call henry “charming” as a sort of affectionate and kind of joking nickname (bc in this verse, henry is the definition of a Disaster Gay))

- goofy and pete dated in the past, but broke up with goofy came out as aroace; pete’s still kinda bitter about it

- aqua/larxene/yuffie is 100% a thing bc i feel that aqua deserves to be able to have fun and not be the responsible mom friend for once; aqua and cinderella also have some playful flirting, but it’s never really serious

- terra’s getting a staycation with his girlfriend, and aqua’s getting a vacation with her girlfriends 

- olette/xion/namine/sora/riku is Peak indulgence for me; i love namixiolette, sonami, and soriku too much to want to choose between them? fuck it, they’re all smushed together in a poly pile now. this is my indulgence fic, i can do what i want, and none of you can stop me XP (the other sub-ship combos, riku with any of the girls, and sora with the other two girls, are more queerplatonic, ftr)

- there’s like a whole soap opera behind mickey/minnie/daisy/donald/goofy coming to their current arrangement, mostly bc the idea of giving all the Drama to these characters in particular amuses me; same with past goofy/pete

- a recurring Theme in this verse is that compulsory heterosexuality is the true darkness, and pretty much no one is straight (and so, light = gay) (this is how the final confrontation in kh3 truly went down: sora: kingdom hearts, is gay! / xehanort: shit...u right, bro. kk, lemme just fade into the light of gay with my bf then)

- sephiroth in this verse is mostly just a vehicle for me to be able to mildly punish terrible lightside mentors, so this ship with the MoM is kinda a cracky spite ship (before kh3 went all in on xehaqus, this was eraqus’s original fate XD)

- i will admit, gula/brain is mostly just me going, “you both really annoy me, and i don’t care to find you better ships, so you two can deserve each other”; to be fair to myself, this attitude was on the rarer side during this process

- hiro totally builds a robot body for tron to use to visit the outside world, tho he still chooses to live in the computer most of the time; tron’s besties with baymax 1 & 2

- i’ll be honest: scrooge, huey, dewey, louie, chip, dale, and possibly jiminy, by my rules, should have been put into ships. they’re not bc i couldn’t find any that worked for me *shrugs*

- phil is more like zeus’s on and off again boyfriend; he’s really fucking annoyed that he keeps having to train a lot of zeus’s offspring, and that he kinda, in a way, ends up doing more parenting for them than zeus does; currently phil is kinda claiming herc away from zeus (”i’m his dad now, so there”) (so at this point, their relationship is more of a hatemance than anything else) (i guess in my hc, zeus skews more towards being like his myth self than the disney version)

- the total number of ships, if you’re curious, is 75

- i’ve actually got queer headcanons for the square characters (excluding the khux squad), and some of the disney characters, figured out (as an example, namine is a demiromantic asexual)

don’t mind me, just a bit of late night ship rambling.....

so, for the most part, i’m content with the fact that i’m a huge ass multi-shipper, and i don’t ever see the point of trying to force yourself to stay “loyal” to one ship

but sometimes, mostly for the fun of it, i’ll try to pick out an “endgame” ship; like, if i could have one pairing that’s actually canon in the end, which would it be? what ship gets to ride off into that korrasami sunset?

for ash ships in the pokeani, i’ve always struggled to pick an endgame between pallet and diode, bc i waffle between them for my otp. usually, when i reach an impasse and can’t decide between two ships like this, then i just slap them together in a polyamory, but it wasn’t quite working out and gelling together in my head, bc i don’t ship gary/clemont.

but now, i think i’ve finally found a way to make peace with clemont/ash/gary in my head, and to have it all click into place:

what i realized is that i’ve attached a lot of my own ace feelings onto clemont (which is part of why i don’t like seeing nsfw stuff for diode), so i’ve been kinda headcanoning him as ace w/o fully realizing it. i tend to think of ash as demi, so i guess my official headcanon is that clemont and ash are in a romantic ace relationship, and ash is also dating gary (and if ash did have needs that he can’t get from clemont, he can fulfill them with gary), and then clemont and gary have more of a queerplatonic relationship, where they like to be science nerds and geek out together. 

well, even if this mess is incoherent to y’all, i understand the thoughts in my brain, so i’m satisfied XP

okay.....so what’s up with so many ppl calling larxene’s somebody/original name as “elrena”?? like.......when and why did this become the trend? did i Miss something? (bc i did check like the fanwikis, and it doesn’t seem to be Confirmed anywhere....then again, those are also still listing lauriam as a separate character to marluxia, and list marluxia’s original name still as “unknown”, but everybody in the fandom is still pretty Convinced that lauriam is marluxia’s somebody anyway (i mean, i agree, like it’s too big of coincidence otherwise), so idkkkk)

but like.......really. why “elrena”? imo, “relena” is a lot better, and rolls off the tongue easier....

tbh, the Healing Vision is way too massive to be conveyed in a single post. so i think what i’m going to do is break it down into a bunch of smaller sections. each one would probably focus on a single ship at a time, and probably talk about the thought process behind it, how i think they would have gotten together in this verse, maybe a few other thoughts about the ship in general, etc. and maybe there’d be a few other kinds of posts scattered in there, like providing some background for the destiny trio’s parents (sora’s mom is the most well-developed of them, tbh), or notes on how some canon scenes would be different or reinterpreted in this verse. i also have an entire 3 page word doc dedicated to a headcanon about terra being genderfluid that i could post, and i could also talk about the other characters’ queer identities. 

and really, even if no one else cares about any of this (and if you don’t want to see any more about it, i’d recommend blacklisting the tag “the kh post canon healing vision”), i think i should make this series of posts mostly for my own sake. it’d help me be more organized, and i could also stop scrolling through a 50+ page word doc just to find the one section that i need.

annnnnnnnnnnnnd................that’s it! i’ve done it!!!!!!!!!! i’ve caught up to the pokeani dub, and have watched all of the currently available episodes!!!!!!!!!! (before anyone asks....no, i don’t watch the subs, and i won’t start now *shrugs*)

excuse me if i give myself a bit of a pat on the back here. 

so! what does this mean for the future? well obviously, i’m not done watching the pokeani (and at this point, i’m almost convinced that pokemon is eternal, and i’ll be watching the anime and playing the games for the rest of my life....). i just now have to wait for the eps to air, lol. and when that happens, i’ll watch them, and as usual, if i have some comment to make, i’ll make liveblog posts. (considering that we just left off on a cliffhanger in the middle of a Major Plot Arc, me liveblogging the next ep when it comes out seems like a guarantee at this point.)

and of course, this definitely doesn’t mean that i’m done with liveblogging in general. for the time being, it all depends on how much kh3 consumes my soul tomorrow (T O M O R R O W !!!!!!).
