I've listened to over 300 new releases from over 100 different kpop artists this year so picking my top songs felt like an mnet-level survival show 😭 the irony that i never watched Boys Planet AND one of the songs is literally a Peak Time song is not lost on me ! 🙃 but i wanted to pick a trendy format so here we are 😈 anyways i included albums instead of songs that didn't make the cut since there's too many honorable mention songs that i have had on repeat this year 😭 but most of them are in these 22 albums (oo-li is on here twice and istj isn't out yet !)

The thing about IVE their songs have been pop perfection but they’re polished and perfectly curated to the point their videos are almost too much in large doses, also the editiiiing why don’t you let me see the girls blink i promise you don’t need that many cuts. And in the end their perfection is also a double edged sword, their songs feel (=/= are) even more manufactured than kpop usually suggests

Hi i love reading your kpop answers and your kpop analysis of dance, clothing, and vocals. It definetly helped me understand a little bit more about the more "mechanics" of kpop and also distinguish what i do/don't like and why.

For one of your answers you described kpop as kind of "maximillist", so i'm wondering what are your favorite kpop outfits thats are maximillist?

and fave maximalist outfits......well for starters i'm just gonna have to say point blank that it's triangle and anyone who disagrees with me is factually incorrect. but to be more serious about it, the best maximalist stylings are the ones that really dig deep and get really granular about everything in the concept, not just the clothing. it's about the clothing, the sets, the lighting, the song choice, and even the mv editing too. kpop as a baseline is already quite maximalist anyways, so when you do get someone that pushes it properly it's usually very good because a stylist has to be really confident to even attempt it in the first place. or it's 2011. one or the other. since most of my fave stylings from the last few years have been maximalist anyways and y'all already know my greatest hits (take over, ping pong, goblin, etc etc just check any of my fave styling posts) and the ones from this year will be in the end of year best of list, i'm gonna go for some older ones this time:
