Many souls had been exiled from Elturel with the banishment of the Tieflings. Some of their names are known far and wide--but others are yet unknown. These are their stories.

A fanfic collaboration by members of the Elturel Tiefling Camp server.

So this is a project friends and I have been working on for the past month! @aviatorasharak has been working hard to document all the Tiefling NPC dialogue but worked especially hard researching and compiling information and video on the failsafe Tieflings. What better way than to commemorate them in fanfic?

uhhh let's see who I got here -shakes out my pockets-

Kivak Fey; hippie atheist Bajoran artisan - survived the Occupation after escaping a mining operation. Raised by a hermit who taught him to preserve and restore Bajoran artifacts, art collections, and personal items post-Occupation. He lived in peaceful isolation, or, at least, he might've, if not for the Vorta that landed in his backyard - Kieran [who belongs to @cineshemp!] - who altered the trajectory of his life [for very much the better.]

Verd Rhiadet, Cardassian astrophycisist and war-orphan raised by a Vulcan ambassador who was trying to gauge the Occupation from a humanitarian/neutral party standpoint. Verd and his sister Ote were the children of a Cardassian Gul and her husband; a poet, both of whom were lost during a "tragic shuttle accident" [coughObsidianOrdercough]. Verd suffered psychosomatic trauma long after the scarring healed, and now is selectively mute, often relying on sign language. There is no door he can't unlock, and he loves a good mystery - possibly why he's fallen for a Trill [Lorren, also Raptor's <3]

Ote Rhiadet, Verd's older sister. She suffered from the shuttle implosion, too, resulting in cybernetic replacements in one leg especially. She's a lot more morally gray than Verd can be, but tries to keep her less savory dealings out of his line of sight. She is an angry, hardened individual who has no problem putting others in their place, but does, admittedly, have more of a soft heart than she cares to let on. She would of course kill anyone who looked wrong at Verd - and vice-versa when it comes to Verd watching over Ote.

Kadram Loss, Trill-Betazoid scientist. A researcher focused on communication efforts with the symbionts, Loss was passed around a big, dysfunctional Trill family who didn't quite know what to do with an oversensitive child with additional support needs. Nevertheless, he threw himself into special interests, and despite nervousness due to overwhelm, he's become a leading expert in his field - so long as he's allowed time down in the caves with the symbionts, he's happy. Fun fact: due to a glitch in his hybrid genetics, the Trill spots actually splash diagonally across Loss's features.

Aulena: The Gamemaster. A Vorta who exists in a floating sphere of thousands of screens through which she implements and monitors plots. Viciously agoraphobic, she doesn't venture far from her ship if she can help it - preferring to keep everything and everyone at arm's length or further. She is cutthroat, ruthless, and takes her purpose in "gamemaking" very seriously.

Kez: A nasty piece of work and another Vorta, Kez is a "contracts negotiator" - the final say in all bargains, accords, and agreements when it comes to managing affairs of the Founders. He looks like he stuck his finger in a socket - spiky and bristling all over, with extra-sharp teeth and a manic gleam in his eyes. The Founders have him almost as addicted to the White as the Jem'Hadar for reasons still unknown.

Those are the most fleshed-out, but still in development:

Hale Tigos: A Trill adrenaline junkie and spymaster the Trill government wants to get Joined so bad it makes them look STUPID but refuses to; as they value their individuality far too much over the idea of potentially losing themselves to "a collective".

Ladreh: A Betazoid comfort companion on Risa who always knows what a person needs, is full of love, and embraces life head-on - usually by surfing and sailing her life away.

Wymeer: A Vorta essentially designed to be a toxic bombshell - one who secretes lethal and untraceable venom. He's mostly just a sad little guy(TM).

Tanq Ati'l: A Cardassian-Klingon hybrid rock star who wants nothing more than to beat people up with his guitar-weapon [so he claims, at any rate]

The Des'Phaydrel: less of an individual character, more of a species of photonic-based beings who are embedded in the atmosphere of their planet. They sort of phase in and out of tangible reality and harmonize with their surroundings as living iridescence.

wild question to randomly submit but what kind of couch do you have and would you recommend it? From the one pic of your cat with it in the background the couch is the kinda squared, modern sits on the floor style I’m looking for in my apartment.

I chose that sofa because I wanted something that sat in the floor (don’t have to vacuum underneath) and was long enough for me to stretch out on and still have room for Dudley, and wide flat arms because I knew dud likes napping like this:

I also wanted a completely flat surface because my old sofa had tufted surface which Dudley managed to track cat litter in and was such a pain to keep clean with all the nooks and crevices.

So many places don’t have proper showrooms anymore and expect you to just order without sitting which I think is crazy because sofa can be a pretty big purchase.

I don’t actually love this sofa and regret choosing it tbh. The problem with these modern style sofas is that they have really low backs. That’s fine for a hotel lobby or a short sit, but pretty uncomfortable for watching a movie :(

I also needed a sectional because a full length sofa wouldn’t be able to get into my apartment.

I actually think that IKEA KIVAK has a lot of these good qualities, and as a bonus the covers can be removed and washed (or changed if you want a new color). I actually think IKEA makes some great solid furniture, and KIVAK is all solid construction and I think it looks good although I had one and it lasted maybe 6 years before the foam collapsed and became pretty uncomfortable.

It will cost about 3 times more, but in my shortlist was the Morton by EQ3, I tried it in a showroom and I LOVED it, but I read so many bad review online about the quality and delays (they are all made to order) but in retrospect I think I probably should have done with the Morton instead (I would have ordered as a 3 seater but I can only find photos with the chase). I really regret not taking the chance on this because it was really so comfortable and style wise had everything I was looking for. If I could go back in time this is the one I would order.

If you get any of the more expensive options I found that most companies have pretty significant sales where you can get 20% or more and free shipping etc.

Good luck! It’s so stressful choosing, but I would emphasize going for comfort over aesthetics!

In the early 80s when Chris Hunt produced his cassette cover designs, reference information - particularly about early Bruce shows - wasn't always easy to come by. It's extraordinary how much detail he successfully dug up in the pre-internet days (with help from correspondence with fellow collectors and archivists, like Joe Kivak), but understandably sometimes there were gaps in the knowledge. Witness this creation of his, ostensibly celebrating a show attributed to 'Steel Mill, Asbury Park N.J. 1970'. We now know the track listing actually refers to another Asbury gig, by The Bruce Springsteen Band from 13 November 1971. Chris adopts a cartoon-strip approach to the outer cover, illustrating the legend of how Bruce first met Clarence at The Student Prince, with the caption 'Sparks flew on E Street'. The inside cover is laid out as a double-fold spread, with hand-written text: 'The Story... so far', quoting one of Bruce's later onstage story-intros to 'The E Street Shuffle', to complete the picture.

Here is art of him, for reference, drawn by the INCREDIBLE talented unparalleled and beloved @cineshemp; best pal in the galaxy. You can read about his adventures with Kieran the Vorta here if so desired!

Here are some fun facts:

Kivak Fey is a Bajoran artist and historian who survived the Cardassian Occupation as well as the Bajoran Outback.

He was taken in by an ageing artist with no children of his own, who imparted his crafts and wisdom to Kivak before his passing.

Fey, now grown, keeps the house and studio as a historical relic and active practice - restoring Bajoran artifacts and heirlooms to the way they were prior to the Occupation.

He is not spiritual, and therefore doesn't wear one of the Bajoran earrings. He in fact tries to "stay out of politics - and that includes faith". It's a point of contention with many of his customers, especially the older ones.

He keeps mostly to himself, only venturing out of the house or studio/storage [a series of connected underground caves lit by bioluminescent plants & fungi] for necessary supplies.

His garments are usually parchment or rust in color - he prefers to blend into the background when it comes to getting his work done, and lets the art speak louder than he does.

His look is very much based off the late, great Patrick Swayze. <3

He currently has a certain Vorta staying with him - one who is forcing Kivak reluctantly out of his shell and toward a road that could be quite dangerous.

That being said, when all else fails, he'll slip away to smoke some local herbs and lay under the stars. Y'know, coping mechanisms.
