“Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.”
Caroline Forbes came to Coldwater Estate for one thing; to prove that ghosts were real. The number of paranormal events that had occurred inside the house and on the grounds were astronomical, dating back over 150 years. From doors slamming on their own to full blown apparitions, it was considered one of the most haunted places in the world. The last thing she needed was a smart-ass cynic out to debunk her work, no matter how hot and British he was.
Klaus Mikaelson was a skeptic. If you gave him enough time (and of course enough money) he could prove the moon landing was fake. So when the opportunity arose to quash the rumors of spooky goings-on at Coldwater Estate he’d jumped at the chance. Showing-up the beautiful ghost hunter with the killer smile would just be the icing on the cake.
What neither of them expected was for their initial animosity to turn into something more, something deeper. And they certainly didn’t anticipate the former master and mistress of the house, both long dead, to use that newfound closeness for their own gain. For over a century now, Nicholas and Karolina had been waiting for the perfect bodies to posses and now that they had them they planned to never let them go.

Damon killed a human Caroline, but dead rarely meant gone. Especially in Mystic Falls...
“No, you are the only stupid thing here. And shallow. And useless.”
“Are you going to kill me?”
“Mm-hmm”
Black veins started to crawl across his face. Icy blue eyes bled crimson. A monster stared back at her and she screamed.
But nobody came.
Caroline remembered sharp tearing pain. Then darkness. It felt like she was suffocating or choking, but when she tried to move nothing responded.
She couldn’t see.
She couldn't hear.
All she felt was cold.
Agony.
Sometimes she heard snippets of sound, saw sudden flashes of scenes.
Her mother being told she ran away. Her mother believing she would run...
Stefan transforming into the same monster as his brother.
Elena softening to her murderer.
Bonnie, always seeming more Elena’s friend then hers, proving her right as she lends aid to the monster that killed her.
They were no friends of hers.
Days past. Or maybe weeks. But slowly Caroline grew stronger. Sounds and images lasted longer. Until one day they didn’t fade away. So she screamed and begged that someone would hear her.
They never did.
Then, she learned that they may not hear her, but she was no longer voiceless. When Damon was trapped and burning she smiled. When Bonnie came to save him she raged.
And the flames responded. They fought against Bonnie’s quelling magic. It was a shame that her surprise allowed Bonnie to win the fight, but perhaps that was for the better. When Damon died she wanted him to know it was her. She wanted him to scream as a monster killed him.
She wanted him to die knowing nobody came.
Katherine Pierce (or was it Katerina Petrova?) coming to town was a shock. It was strange to see her former friend’s face on a completely different person, but she provided such a good opportunity.
As the girl wreaked havoc, Caroline followed in her wake. A bit more wreckage in the aftermath of fights. Old artifacts breaking in forgotten corners of an old boarding house. Objects left in different places than remembered. And her personal favorite. Every fight, every conflict Damon started. He would find his blows landing not quite where he intended. His strength falling a bit short. His speed a little slower. His senses a bit duller.
And then came the greatest opportunity of them all.
Klaus
“He killed them, my entire family, just to get back at me for running. Whatever you do to escape Klaus, he will get his vengeance on your friends, your family and anyone that you've ever loved.”
Perhaps had she lived Caroline would have been helping alongside everyone else in their quest to protect Elena. She would have been a loyal friend.
But she didn’t live. She was no longer their friend.
Instead, she spent months watching them consort with her murderer and forgetting she ever existed with sickening ease. So, she could appreciate a good revenge story.
Who are you, Klaus?
Caroline pondered the kind of being that could enact such bloody, immediate vengeance and send a vampire running in terror for centuries. She was startled out of her thoughts when she found herself quite suddenly elsewhere.
“Do keep me informed on my brother’s whereabouts. It’s unlike him to be wandering Podunk, one-pony towns.”
The British accent was a surprise, but not more so than her appearance before this stranger. Caroline had never managed to teleport to someone she didn’t know in life.
Was this...Klaus?
He had been who she was just thinking of after all. Caroline looked around from the shadowed corner she had appeared in, hoping for clues to her whereabouts or confirmation of the stranger’s identity.
She was extremely startled when he suddenly appeared in front of her with a burst of supernatural speed.
“Now, how did you get in here, sweetheart?” She absently noted that she wished she could pull off that pleasantly threatening tone, but what burst from her lips was a different thought. The more important one.
“Y-you can see me?!”
His brow furrowed, as suspicion darkened his gaze. “Should I not be able to?”
“I-. No. I’m dead.”
Seeing his disbelief, Caroline slowly reached out, hoping she wasn’t suddenly able to touch people too. As fantastic as that would be in other circumstances, it wouldn’t exactly lend credence to her claim. She also had a feeling that being intangible was an advantage when one was before Maybe-Klaus (and definitely Real-Klaus).
Thankfully, her hand passed right through him. She saw him jolt. He must have felt the same discomfort Damon always complained about. An odd chill and the sensation of flesh writhing under skin.
She quickly retreated back a few steps. Damon deserved every second of her torment, but this guy didn’t.
As she stepped back, she peered into his eyes catching flashes of intrigue and lingering doubt.
For the first time in a long time she started to ramble, “Look I don’t know how else to convince you. My name is Caroline Forbes. Born October 10, 1992. Died September 23, 2009. I grew up in Mystic Falls, Virginia, and you can probably verify all of this with Google or something. Do vampires use Google? Well if you do, you’ll see that I’m reported missing not dead, since my cowardly, former friends didn’t have the guts to tell my mother I’m dead. But I guess it doesn’t matter since she didn’t care either! And lately, the place has been infested with vampires so you’ll probably get a lot of hits for animal attacks. Oh! And I appeared here after listening to Katherine spew her history to Elena, history about Klaus. So, are you Klaus?”
The man blinked, taken aback by her sudden barrage. However, it didn’t take him long to process. With a single step forward he was right in front of her once more.
“I am. Did you say Katerina is in Mystic Falls?” The eager widening of his eyes almost made his face boyish if it weren’t for the glint of viciousness.
Caroline gave a tiny nod. “I did. She’s trapped in the tomb beneath Fell’s Church.” She trailed off and bit her lip. Looked down. Hesitated.
I’m sorry Sheriff Forbes, but I haven’t seen her. Wide, doe brown eyes locked with blue.
Damon, Stefan’s my boyfriend, but you’re my friend. A delicate tanned hand gripped his.
Bonnie, please! You have to help him!
Her heart hardened and she looked up into impatient blue eyes. An ocean. Not ice.
“Elena Gilbert,” she hissed, “a human doppelgänger. She’s in Mystic Falls too.”
AN: Caroline helps Klaus break his curse. Damon dies in agony. Klaroline live happily ever after.

For Klaroween Bingo - Kiss of Death
Thanks Dani @littlebirdofthenorth for the inspiration it was SO needed.
Kiss From A Rose
Cursed.
It’s a word she knows well. Intimately in fact. Because it sums up her existence perfectly.
She is cursed.
Cursed to a life where she cannot kiss anyone or anything. Her evil ancestors have made it perfectly clear. If they can’t be with anyone, neither can she.
So much so that making intimate contact with anyone will render them dead with one stroke of her lips. So, she keeps her distance, even if it’s extremely difficult. Everyone has needs after all.
However, finding him on the road, on Halloween of all nights, Caroline is overcome with too many emotions.
But he’s obviously wounded and calling to her. Caroline exits her car and can’t stop her legs racing towards him. He’s injured that much is evident, his body writhing in pain. She can’t miss his dark, blonde curls and crimson lips illuminated under the street light.
“What can I do?” She asks helplessly. Being a witch, the solution should be simple but he’s messing with her composure.
“Kiss me,” he pleads. His lips are tempting from this vantage point but she knows better than to go through with his request.
“I can’t,” she murmurs, eyeing him cautiously. and wishing things could be different.
“You can, trust me love,” he whimpers. Caroline Forbes is sensible but in this moment she can’t resist, lowering herself to meet his lips. Suddenly nothing else matters as they make contact.
It’s beautiful.
It’s perfect.
And it’s her first kiss.
Realising what she’s done, Caroline figures it’s most probably her last. But as she pulls away hurriedly, she notes his eyes are bluer than ever and a few stray dimples have appeared.
“How are you still alive?”
“Believe it or not witches and werewolves can be friends.”
“Bastard,” she huffs, standing up, albeit shakily. “You tricked me.”
“Last time I checked you ran me over,” he shoots back, finally finding his feet and wiping away the dirt.
“And you begged me to kiss you,” she growls. “Are you that desperate for a lay?”
“I’ve been dreaming of you since I was young,” he explains quietly. “Is it wrong to want your heart because you already stole mine?”
“I don’t even know you,” she rasps, trying to come to terms with the feelings this stranger is evoking.
“Maybe so, but I know you. So much so that I’m willing to risk death.”
“Well, that just makes you an idiot,” she murmurs. “And i have every intention of making you pay for the damages to my car.”
“How about you give me a lift to the nearest gas station and I give you my insurance details?”
Caroline feels the excitement bubbling in her stomach, not just because she had her first kiss and it was wonderful and nobody died, but because he’s growing on her and she isn’t quite ready to let him go just yet.

Spooked || Klaroween
Kat might have talked her into a Tinder dating spree to get over her breakup, but Caroline didn't expect her rebound effort to be haunted by the ex in question. (For Klaroween Bingo: Speed Dating in Costumes)
"Hello, Caroline."
She nearly drops her phone in surprise, glowering as Klaus slides into the booth. "You're not my date," she snaps. Katherine and Elijah are looking far too innocent at the bar, and she spares a glare for them as well. She should have known Kat's plan was far too generous, it had to backfire at some point - that point being when her ex-boyfriend shows up. "What are you doing here?"
His smirk melts into a smile as she crosses her arms in frustration. "I may have overheard my sister-in-law lamenting your single state and conspiring to...alleviate that." Nose scrunched, Caroline hated that even his grimace was cute. "It seemed obvious to throw my hat in the ring."
"I-" She breaks off, sending a confused look to Kat who pointedly turned the other way. "I don't understand."
It makes absolutely no sense to her how earnest he seems just to be sitting across the table from her, not when he was the one to break up with her just a month earlier. To be honest, she only let Kat talk her into a Halloween Tinder date spree to ensure a date for the Christmas party her friend hosted, the one where Elijah's family was all sure to be invited. If Caroline had to be a dumpee, then she would at least do everything she could to move on quickly. Bringing a new guy for her to rub in Klaus's face was an added bonus, though she'd rather avoid the embarrassing reunion altogether.
Hence why she was surprised to find him eagerly counted among her potential suitors. "You're not wearing a costume," she says instead, feeling more confident on themed parties than their failed relationship. The bar had promised no cover charge for anyone in costume, and she (with Kat's help) encouraged her dates to participate. It seemed like a good litmus test for personality at the time. In his usual Henley and jeans, Klaus wasn't making much of a showing.
He shrugged, eyeing the unicorn headband and rainbow tutu she wore. "I still have the one you picked out, but it didn't seem right to wear without you."
"Without me dressing like Vanna, your Pat Sajak does kind of look like just a guy in a suit." At least the gorgeous gown she'd bought wouldn't go to waste; her work parties liked to err on the side of fancy. "And you don't exactly have the right attitude for a game show host."
Klaus looks like he wants to argue the point, but swallows his rebuttal in favor of a wan smile. "That's partly why I came," he admits. His ears flush at her arched eyebrow. "I made a mistake, Caroline, one I hope to rectify."
She waits until he nearly squirms in discomfort at her uncharacteristically long silence. Klaus was so annoyingly at ease at all times, even when he had calmly explained that his idea of the future didn't match up with her expectations of marriage and building a life together, so it was best if they went their own ways before they could reach that breaking point. It felt good to have the upper hand since that horrible lunch, and Caroline decides to wait him out a bit longer before she deigns to answer. "What mistake did you make?"
That flush radiates down to his cheeks, and Caroline feels giddy. Klaus never blushed. "Elijah has no shortage of opinions or brotherly advice," he explains with halting confidence. "Over a drink or six, he pointed out the short-sighted nature of my reasoning behind the decision to-"
"Break my heart? Tell me, 'thanks but no thanks on the whole love thing'? Oh, I know! Pretty much say I'm not worth keeping around."
Klaus winces. "That wasn't my intention, love-"
Bristling, Caroline throws a finger up. "Don't call me that."
"Caroline," he amends in an understanding tone, "it wasn't that I didn't want you. You are beautiful, spirited, and I loved - love - you more than I ever thought possible."
"So, you broke up with me?" Caroline glances back to Kat, this time meeting her friend's imploring gaze with an irritated one of her own. "Klaus, that's ridiculous."
"So Elijah said," Klaus agrees with a downtrodden nod. "But Katherine was prodding me to research engagement rings, and Kol kept making bachelor jokes - I was skittish at the idea, to say the least."
Sighing, Caroline feels her righteous indignation loosen into a deep disappointment. "You could have talked to me about it before you broke...everything."
"I know, I should have." Klaus reaches for her across the table, but they're interrupted before he can grasp her hand.
"Caroline?"
They both turn to see a guy wearing a full-on Joker costume, green hair and all, looking expectantly at her. Caroline blinks, realizing he's expecting a confirmation. "Umm, I-" She's frazzled, unsure what to do; it's hard to think about getting over Klaus when he's right there, offering to fix what went wrong. "I don't-"
"Sorry, mate," Klaus answers instead. "I think there was a Caroline at the next table, but she left."
As the now flustered guy ducks away from the booth, a part of her wants to scold Klaus for dismissing him. "It's rude to cockblock a rebound," she says, testing him.
All too aware, Klaus smirks. "I'd apologize, sweetheart, but we both know I'm not sorry. Did you happen to meet any winners tonight?"
Her shoulders sag. "There was a Mario 'looking for his Princess Peach' and a medical student totally cheating by wearing scrubs. But I bet they wouldn't break up with me because they like me too much to marry me."
"Marriage is-" Klaus bites his lip while he considers the right phrasing to use. "I didn't exactly grow up in a wonderful home with a loving couple. Failing you by becoming...them? It would be worse than the tears you tried to hide over lunch that day. Or, that's what I thought."
Caroline narrows her eyes. "And?"
"I was wrong."
Those traitorous tears fill her eyes again, and she does her best to keep them from falling. "Okay. Thanks, then. For that and ruining my dates."
Klaus did grasp her hands at that point, his thumb tracing the skin like he'd forgotten how it felt. She kind of hoped he did; it'd serve him right. "Please, Caroline. I want another chance."
Rolling her eyes, Caroline discreetly wipes the mascara under one and winces at the rainbow glitter of her eyeshadow that covered her finger. "You didn't ghost me, Klaus, with an ending left unfinished. You broke up with me, in a conversation where you calmly destroyed our relationship and the trust I thought it was built on."
"Take a chance," he says in a low voice. "I won't let you regret it."
She looks around the bar, where people were getting sloppy drunk and costumes started falling askew. Elijah was very sternly holding Kat's attention, and Caroline finally turns back to Klaus who's waiting for his sentence from her. God, those dimples were somehow cuter in his hopeful face. A unicorn could do worse than allow an ex to grovel his way back into her heart. "I have one more date lined up for tonight," she warns, feeling light with a little hope herself. "You have an hour to convince me to turn him away, too."
A smile spreads across Klaus's face, and he threads his fingers through hers. "Consider it done."

This is for the amazing @misssophiachase for being such an awesome person and getting me back my inspiration!!
The loud ruckus outside the house, drawing her attention away from her favourite movie. It was her only day to chill and relax, whoever was causing a scene was getting punched.
Walking outside she saw a few members of her pack surrounding Damon, her least favourite Salvatore, fighting. She pushed her way through the gathered crowd and pulled the dark haired man off the other person, pushing him away slightly before her fist collided with his nose.
“What was that for?” He growled at her, moving a few steps closer to try and intimidate her.
“For ruining my only day I have to myself.”
“I was just defending our pack!”
Caroline turned to the guy in the floor, his hand wiping blood away from his split lip. She could scent his wolf instantly, but her gut was telling her he wasn’t a threat. She extended her arm down to him, the dark blonde haired guy looking at it cautiously before taking it, using it to get up. Not that he needed it, it was just a sign to say she wasn’t like the dickhead that punched him.
“Thanks,” he muttered as he looked into her eyes. “I was just explaining that I was passing through. That I didn’t know this was pack territory.”
“Lone wolf?” She whispered, trying to make sure one else heard. He nodded slightly. “Then let’s show you around town. I could do with a burger and fries right about now.”
She watched as his lips turned into a slight smile before frowning at himself.
She’d let him stay in the pack if that’s what he would like.
“You can’t be serious?!” Damon grabbed her arm, spinning her around to look at him, his eye starting to bruise and blacken already, making him look even more pathetic.
“You do not get to challenge me Damon.”
“Your not my Alpha.”
“No, but he is my father, and I will be one day. Do not test me now.”
After giving her one more challenging look, he turned around and stormed off. She hoped his brother will cool him down. Moving back towards the new wolf, she smiled at him, nodding at the direction to walk to for food. He followed her behind quickly and quietly for a while, maybe lost in thought before he broke the silence.
“Klaus.”
She spun around and grinned, she’ll crack him and make him stay after all. “Caroline.”

Why not Both?
I will get a bingo if it kills me. @klaroween bingo post 6.
You can also read it here.
“Look I love Apple Cider just as much as anyone else, but it doesn’t provide me with the caffeine buzz that PSL’s provide,” Caroline said, smiling over her steaming mug of mulled cider as Niklaus Mikaelson led her through the fall carnival. She was surprised that he had wanted to take her to a local fall carnival and well it was sweet.
“Seriously love, I just didn’t see you as falling for such basic trivial things as a pumpkin spice coffee beverage,” Klaus replied, looking at down at his date. They’d met his little brothers school, and Klaus had taken a leap of fate to ask her out on a date. She was different from anyone else he’d ever met, and honestly it was refreshing.
“Come now Mr. Posh and Pristine, don’t go dumping on a girls love for pumpkin spice lattes, they’re warm and inviting and taste like fall,” Caroline teased, as she bumped her shoulder with his as they continued down the street laced with vendor's and games for the kids.
“Well explain the sudden love of the drink to a bloke who is grossly overwhelmed by all the sudden pumpkin love he’s seeing, yet no one is talking about mulled wine, or mulled cider,” he said, sipping his own mug and looking down at her.
“Starbucks, made it popular, it actually does taste pretty good, and then everyone else in the world figured they could get on the money express in the fall season when they were lacking something to sell,” Caroline said, shrugging as she waved at her students as they ran past her to their friends.
“So you’re saying there is room for both in the world?” he teased, snagging her free hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.
“Exactly, and honestly I think they fulfil different niche needs of the markets,” Caroline said, though she was looking down at their joined hands. Glancing up at him she leaned over and kissed him chastely and quickly. Pulling away, her face scarlet she grinned and pointed to a vendor down the road. “Oh toasted pumpkin seeds, you have to try them.”
Klaus was shocked, she’d kissed him. Caroline Forbes, his little brothers kindergarten teacher had kissed him. Flushing he cleared his throat and smiled at down at her excitement. As she pulled away to get in line a little ways down the road he pulled his phone out and checked with his sister that everyone was having fun carving pumpkins and that Henrik wasn’t to hurt that he wasn’t home.
Standing in the street texting the sibling group chat he was startled when suddenly Caroline was standing back in front of him holding two small bags of toasted seeds coated with salt and pepper. She looked up at him concern etched in her face. “Is it Henrik?”
“No I was just asking Rebekah and Kol for an update about how pumpkin carving was going,” he replied, honestly. Shoving the phone into his pocket he leaned down and kissed her again. She tasted like cinnamon and cloves from the cider. Pulling away he grinned down at her.
“What was that for?” she asked, her cheeks flushed from embarrassment or the cold he couldn’t tell.
“I could ask you the same question,” he said, smirking and wrapping his free hand around her waist.
“I-uh-felt like it was the right thing to do,” she mumbled, leaning into his warmth. His cologne woodsy and subtle.
“Well i thought your lips looked cold,” he joked, eating a few pumpkin seeds as they continued their trek through the fair. The fair was mainly for children and their families. With a few things for the local farmers, like largest pumpkin and biggest pig. Other fall harvest things.
Caroline snorted and jabbed him gently in the stomach looking around the street and looked up at him her eyebrow raised. “How about we go carve pumpkins with your siblings, I think Henrik would really like that.”
Klaus paused and looked down at his date confused. He had thought that their date was going really well. She seemed to be having fun and they’d kissed twice, and yet she wanted to end their date to go carve pumpkins.
“Hey Nik, hey. Our date isn’t over, I was just thinking we could include your siblings, this is Henriks first Halloween in the states away from his parents,” Caroline said turning to cup his cheek with her empty hand.
“You’d really give up having a date just the two of us to go spend time with my two idiot siblings and Henrik?” he asked, never had anyone ever offered to spend time with him and his siblings. Often they were trying to get him to spend less time with his siblings.
“You forget, I actually know your siblings better than I know you, and hey it’ll be good for us to see how I handle all four of you together rather than one on one,” she teased, leaning up to kiss him gently before pulling back. “If it gets hairy I’m sure Henrik will side with me.”

Truth or Dare: Halloween Edition
Klaroween Bingo Prompt: Truth or Dare: Halloween Edition
Who knew cinnabuns were real? How is this a thing? Did Klaus know? Caroline narrowed her blue eyes suspiciously at the hybrid as he helped her dodge a particularly nasty-looking spiked chain as it shot out of the sheetrock of his mansion. “You wouldn’t think something called cinnabuns would be such creepy pain freaks.”
“That’s Cenobites,” Klaus said through gritted teeth as he wrenched a rusted hook out of his shoulder.
Quickly offering him her wrist so he could heal properly, she hissed, “That’s what you’re choosing to care about right now? Not that fact that the Hellraiser movies are apparently real?” They should have never agreed to play Kol’s Halloween edition of truth or dare. They’d returned from a rather lackluster Halloween parade over on Decatur, and they made the mistake of complaining to Kol that this was the dullest Halloween they’d ever had. That was when Kol had the genius plan that they’d play his version of truth or dare — all dares to find out the truths.
He’d had each couple select an object associated with a horror movie and dared them to use the object to try to summon its monster and determine if the legends were true. Elijah and Katherine picked the unmarked videotape, both of them eyeing it curiously as Elijah muttered that they should make their attempt at resurrecting the dreadful, water-logged little girl in a room that did not have an antique Turkish rug.
Kol grabbed a tarnished hand mirror, elbowing Bonnie excitedly as he told her that he had some ideas for what they could do with the leftover honey their creature was sure to leave behind. Klaus stoically held the puzzle box; Caroline only sensing his discomfort because of their bond. She’d watched a couple of the Hellraiser movies, but since torture porn had never been her favorite go-to in the horror genre, she wasn’t sure what to expect.
And now she was running away from a teeth-chattering monster who kept trying to flay the skin off of her forearms. Gasping as a series of long spikes exploded through the floor, showering her with the splintered remains of the hand-scraped maple floors she’d made Klaus special order, she threw him an exasperated look, asking, “Did Kol specify if we had to bring back all of the cinnabuns?”
“One cinnab- Cenobite should suffice,” Klaus told her as he carefully checked her for injuries. “Unless you’d prefer to end this now? I easily can solve the puzzle box and banish them back to their realm.”
Doing a complicated handspring-twist she hadn’t performed since her cheerleading days, she narrowly avoided a nasty head-butt from their leader with the giant nails sticking out of his skull. As she turned to see Klaus wrestling with the creature, she called out indignantly, “And forfeit the game?! No way!” She used her vampire speed to slam into the creature from the side, knocking it into their staircase where it bellowed with rage.
Pushing away several sweaty blonde strands, she told Klaus, “And don’t think you can just let something like that slip without me commenting on it. You said you know how to solve the puzzle box — you better believe I have follow-up questions, hybrid,” she told him with a wry smile.
As Klaus pulled the monster into a vicious headlock with a series of loud cracks, Caroline instructed, “Don’t kill that one! I think he’s the head cinnabun and I can totally see Kol telling us we forfeit because we brought back one of the cinnabun lackeys instead of the chief cinnabun.”
Letting out a good-natured sigh, he looked at her fondly as he kept the creature in his iron grip. “Very well, sweetheart.” Cocking his head to the side, he added, “Should I be concerned that you’ve spent so much time with my degenerate little brother you’re now wise to all of his dirty tricks?”
Slamming her boot into the throat of another cinnabun, she smiled slyly at Klaus, “Maybe. Just think of the awkward conversations I can start if we return to your family and I ask you to tell me all about your fondness for puzzle boxes?”
“Well-played,” Klaus muttered with a twinkle in his gray eyes as he fiddled with the puzzle box to send them back into their world with their prize cinnabun. “So, I may have gone through a slight Cenobite BDSM pain kink in the late 80s...”
While Caroline knew she wasn’t ready to explore that particular rabbit hole just yet, it didn’t mean she couldn’t fantasize a bit about future possibilities with her hybrid. She felt her mind wander to intriguing new places while a surly Elijah and a thoroughly drenched Katherine complained that Kol purposely placed televisions on top of every antique Turkish rug in their manor. Then, an irritated, honey-splattered Bonnie put the giggling Original prankster in his place when she enchanted bits of broken mirror she pulled out of her hair to continuously place themselves underneath his bare feet whenever he tried to move.
Sighing contentedly, Caroline settled back against Klaus’ embrace, wondering what Halloween adventure they’d have next year.

“We'll sleep in shifts. We'll ration our food, and then we'll figure out the next step. We have two advantages - we know this town, and we know the cold. We live here for a reason: because nobody else can.”
