The question gets a confused, almost suspicious look. Why the hell is Bruce asking him something like that? And out of apparently nowhere, too? "…I dunno."

It's less an answer than a way to buy time to think, but the more Dick thinks about it the more he doesn't really have an answer. It's not that he has nowhere he specifically wants to be; it's that he has too many places he wants to be. Too many choices and no real way to decide between them. Back with the circus, back in Bludhaven, Titans Tower, down in the Cave, his old room at the manor…

And to top that off, at least two of those are time-specific, too. The circus before Firefly's attack, Bludhaven before Deathstroke dropped a living chemical bomb on the city, the Tower back when the Titans were still based in New York…none of which really fit the criteria of the question, do they? Anywhere, not anywhen.

"…I really don't know," he says after about half a minute's honest thought, shrugging. "Why do you ask?"

#Communication #knightective #concerning dick #[Bruce is Dad(tm) so I mean those middle three are /right out/#and as much as Dick never wants to entertain the option or idea of Bruce needing to be stopped #he DOES recognize that they walk a very fine line and Bruce HAS had to be pulled back before #and that Bruce would RATHER be stopped or even killed than risk betraying everything he has ever fought for #so as much as Dick would HATE HIMSELF for it #if circumstances came right down to that necessity? he'd absolutely pull the trigger #and he wouldn't let anyone else do it either. It would probably break him to do it but >>;;]
