Topic refinement: The importance of legal drug checking

In week 5's lecture, we watched a guest lecture by Sophie Kanes about the importance of research in your creative planning. She referenced the quote, "Creative ideas without research is like driving with your eyes closed". This made me realise that I needed to endavour in further research in my topic of Legal drug checking to better understand this topic and how to best utilise my media's to effectively convey my message.

Key information I found in my research

KnowYourStuff is one of the 5 licensed drug checking organisations. They have pop-up drug testing stations all over the country, including some major music festivals. Their logo is a smiley face.

Drug Checking refers to testing a person's drugs while drug testing refers to drug testing the person

Nearly 1/5 of the samples checked in New Zealand contained an unexpected drug

Drug checking through these organisations is completely anonymous, free, and legal

Sophie also highlighted how we need to pinpoint the problems surrounding our topics. After researching, I realised people are dying because they are not testing the drugs, and this derives from the problem that lots of people aren't aware that there is free legal drug testing and the dangers of laced/mis-sold drugs. Because of this information, in my project, I want to have a key focus on bringing awareness to the dangers of laced/mis-sold drugs.

Old cottage walls had some rising damp and bridging issues, we hacked off the plaster added a new damp proof course where needed and then re-plastered it using Dry Zone Damp Proof backing plaster. This has very little cement and has been specially formulated for old buildings.
