TV Anime "Love Kome" Announces Tie-Up with Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

Love Kome -We Love Rice-, the upcoming original TV anime series featuring five personifications of popular Japanese rice brands, has announced a tie-up with Japanese Government's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The ministry has agreed to feature the anime character visual on its official posters to promote rice eating. See the poster image below.

     But there was one condition that the anime had to accept. It was revealed by general producer Yoshitada

Fukuhara at the Nico Nico Live event on April 1. The anime has a character named Chinko Bouzu (CV:

Tomokazu Sugita), literally means "Penis Monk" in English. The producer was ordered by the ministry to

delete the character's name from the poster. The anime's official Twitter confirmed it by retweeting a photo

report posted by one of the MCs of the event, Yui, below.

     Meanwhile, the anime's official Twitter also posted a comment below on March 30. 

   "Please look forward to Love Kome planned by Yaoyorozu who really hates parodies and meta-fictions.

The name of the protagonists' unit, Love Rice is a perfectly original word inspired from the people who love

rice. (If the second season is possible, how about naming it Love Rice Sunshine?)"

    The Yaoyoruzu (Kemono Friends)-planned anime series is set to premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV and Tochigi

TV on April 5. The story is set in Inaho Academy that is planned to be closed down due to a lack of interest

in rice eating among people. The five newly-enrolled boys decide to save the school and to have everyone

rediscover the value of rice by performing as an idol group "Love Rice" at "Harvest Show." But there is a

strong rival group called "Yeast King" at St. Pan High School, who are also trying to promote bread eating.

TV Anime "Love Kome" Reveals Key Visual, April 5 Premiere

The official website for Love Kome -We Love Rice-, the upcoming original TV anime series featuring five personifications of popular Japanese rice brands, today updated with a new key visual and announced its premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV and Tochigi TV on April 5. The first episode will be aired with a half-hour special program hosted by its main voice cast members. And its manga adaptation illustrated by 46 will be serialized on the web manga site GANMA! from February 24. 

  The story is set in Inaho Academy that is planned to be closed down due to a lack of interest in eating rice among people. The five newly-enrolled boys decide to save it and to have everyone rediscover the value of rice by performing as an idol group "Love Rice" at "Harvest Show."

TV Anime "Love Rice" Offers Agricultural Experience Event at "Love Rice Farm"

To understand the feelings of their characters more, the five main voice actors of the ongoing TV anime Love Kome -We Love Rice-/Love Rice has been cultivating a rice field in Chiba Prefecture since early May, the rice-planting season in Japan. They are now inviting participants for the opening event for their "Love Rice Farm" (tentative name) on June 18. 

  The opening event will include the ceremonies to unveil the official name of the farm and to pray for the rich harvest of grain. Participants will be able to experience farming activities with the members (towel and beach sandals are needed) and also to enjoy light meals like onigiri (rice balls) with them. The participation fee for one person is 13,000 yen (about 116 US dollars). The digital tickets will be available on EMTG till June 15.

Soon after revealed in the special live-broadcasting program on Nico Nico Live last night, a 80-second first PV for Love Kome -We Love Rice-, the upcoming original TV anime series featuring five personifications of popular Japanese rice brands, was officially posted on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga. The anime's official Twitter also confirmed that the song in the video "Roman Hikou," a cover version of Japanese rock band Kome Kome Club's 1990 song, will be used as its theme song.
