I will always be in favor of playersexuality. Until the day game designers have more nuanced understandings of sexuality.

Game designers still only understand flamboyant gay, mean lesbian, slutty bisexual, and quirky queer. Any identities not those are not even recognized. And any complex characterizations are only afforded to "normal" straight characters.

While Larian gave us a step in the right direction, they are still coming from the above framework and trying to reiterate upon that. And you have to understand that framework in order to recognize why their implementation is still somewhat shallow while still being the best offered compared to other games in the genre.

In the past, every time I encountered a woman in a romanceable video game who correctly represents my own experience of bisexual/pansexual identity, she was only romanceable by male characters.

These are women who have tough exteriors on a spectrum of "bitchy femme", a midpoint of "aloof androgynous", to "tough masc". All points that are gnc in some way, but all are women who also have a soft interior that is interpreted as conventionally feminine.

Game designers interpret these two traits (outward gnc and inner softness) as a nullification to heterosexual woman. Time and time again. Falling into the stereotype of being a woman for a man to tame.

Will they ever understand? Or do people as a whole just don't understand the many ways bisexuality can take shape?

I GUESS I FORGOT TO SHARE MY LADY FROM KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC. Meet her - Gwenda Kasra or just Gwen. A smuggler, scoundrel, probably mercenary and just an annoying ass. Talks too much and loves to do stuff her way. May look as careless and foolish, but is actually quite cunning and clever. Melee fighter and doesn't use blasters because has problems with eyesight.

Loves droids and loves to annoy Bastilla (probably loves her too).

The inevitable Revan movie but instead of the cursed male Revan storyline alone there are 2 separate, equal full-length movies with two different actors playing Revan. All of the advertisements strategically never show Revan’s face. You just go to the showing of the one you’re emotionally attached to and desperately try and pretend the other doesn’t exist. Because that’s what heroes do.

I finished KOTOR 1 a couple days ago (Same day as Force Unleashed) and I been working on KOTOR 2 on Switch and I already got my fav party member Visas as well as a lightsaber and taught the Disciple how to use the force.

I decided to actually pay more attention to the feats to determine what weapons characters should really use instead of just having everyone carry 2 swords at once. Like, if a character is better with blasters I think I should keep them using blasters instead.

I wish the main character could have the sexy lingerie instead of just a crop top and shorts when you unique the clothes.

I get why Mission has that as underwear, by why does the main character have to wear that?

Oh well, also Bastilla actually died in my playthough, because I think I chose the wrong dialog option option or my persuade skill stat wasn't high enough, joycon drift was a problem during the dialog options

The Unofficial Knights of the Old Republic Popularity Contest

Welcome to the Unofficial Knights of the Old Republic Fan Favorite Character Tournament!

This specific tournament is just covering the party members and player characters, however in the future might go through and do villains, fan favorite NPC’s, etc. Whoever wins will be crowned the tumblr crowds fan favorite! 

This is all organized and helmed by one person, myself, y’all can call me Captain (they/them pronouns for anyone wondering).

All matchups were randomly generated, as I felt doing the matchup’s myself would be waaay to biased. No matter what I did though there were going to be unfair matchups. Since a few of these characters are significantly more developed/significantly more popular than others. I would like to formally apologize to literally anyone going up against Revan, Canderous, HK-47, and Kreia, y’all got your work cut out for you.

There will be a wild card round pitting KOTOR 2’s HK-47, T3-M4, and Canderous/Mandalore against each other. As that was the only way I could get the brackets to be even. The winner of that round will go up against the winner of the KOTOR 2 bracket, and then the winner of that round will go up against the winner of the KOTOR 1 bracket.

Each round is going to last a week, as that is easier for me to manage at the moment. Though that is subject to change as the tournament continues.

Obligatory don’t take this too seriously. This is all something I whipped up for fun since I haven’t seen anyone else do a bracket with these guys yet. (and technically HK-47 is the “canonical” winner since he’s the one with the best character awards lol).

Since I have been replaying Kotor 1 again, I am noticing a bunch of things I didn't playing it the first time when I was 11. One of which is I had no idea what the hell I was doing back then. Holy crap. One I find funny that I didn't realize. Bastilla has the power for Force Persuasion.

You never see her use it in a cutscene or anything that I remember, I am still on Dantooine in this run, so I might have forgotten some details in over a decade of not playing it. But even then, why? She doesn't make speech checks. The only person she can talk to outside of a cut scene is you. So it really serves no purpose. So that is just freaking humorous to me.

Bastilla more like Baestilla ammiright

I used to be a hard-core Bastilla hater when I first played KOTOR but now I get it

I have been converted. I GET ITTT

She's kinda like Katara from Avatar The Last Airbender because she gets sooooo much hate for just being a female character who's a fucking human being with doubts and negative emotions.

As a former "gifted child" I kind of relate to her in a way. The Jedi Council placed sooo much hope in her battle meditation and her potential yet it mistreats her and tells her to neglect herself and go on a dangerous mission and shit like this hits hard for me

I totally know what you mean. I know there's all sorts of DeviantArt back in the day joking about her preaching "don't fall to the Dark Side!" And then "whoops I fell to the Dark Side!" And it was funny then. As I got older, I totally could see the struggle of striving for perfectionism and then being burned out. No one is perfect, and that's not a bad thing!

Bastila has sass, but it's a front for insecurity sometimes. She had to deal with her parents giving her up to the Jedi, the Jedi making her their prodigy, and then sending her off with who they assumed was a ticking time bomb with no help. Thanks guys. I know it depends on the dialogue choices, but Revan can really give her a shoulder to lean on, which it seems like no one ever does for her. (Don't even get me started about her having to raise a kid alone)

I mean, this young woman is what, 18-23ish? GIVE. THE. GIRL. A. BREAK. She's got some funny scenes/dialogue, a cute romance story, a great story arc, and I know there's not much in cut scenes with her companions, but they were all worried about poor Bastila by the end of the game and were glad that she was still alive. If anything, Bastila needed a vacation by the end of the game. Haha
