My final assessment on the Minthara child plot. (A link to some background and other odd restored content.)

tl;dr I think it was related to the Bhaalspawn breeding plot, and I'm glad it was scrapped.

I believe the child plot line was part of Minthara's reactivity to Durge and intended to have the most reactivity. Like how Astarion is the male companion for Durge.

Minthara's "fecundity" is brought up several times in Durge related scenes and not mentioned at all outside of them. Minthara is very motivated to ascend Durge and for them to give in to the urge. She is also sexually aroused by the Slayer form. All this despite the fact that Durge can kill Minthara after her Act 1 sex scene. If Durge does not do this, she never knows this truth - continuing through the game encouraging what is not in her best interests. Especially in the Durge ending where the grand slaughter begins with her (romanced) death.

The game treads a line between being overt with its more shocking themes and playing it up as mundane for a laugh, vs having it go understated as the plot reveals itself.

The themes around Bhaalspawn and the like, arguably, was always about tainted blood and not being fully in control of your mind and body. There is Orin being the product of incest and being betrayed by her father figures, and the evil ending for Durge that involves a loss of all faculties, including incontinence. The cut Durge ending of being Bhaal's breeding bitch (gender neutral) is also in line with this theme, and is in so far inoffensive only for the fact that this theme exists in the game proper. This is the character who is called a cannibal and necrophile in throwaway lines in game.

As for what isn't in game: datamined files mark Minthara's child as potentially the player's. She was to reveal this to the player, which would trigger reactions from the companions as well (video).

If Minthara's story was more yoked to Durge's in the manner illustrated above, it would bring another woman's tragedy to the game alongside Orin, which is such a nihilistic narrative. I could see this plot potentially going in the direction of Orin rebuilding a dynasty in Menzoberranzan, but what themes and context are present are much more nihilistic in regards to Minthara's fate. I am glad this plotline didn't make it past any meaningful stages.

A scrapped, unimplemented scene for the EA version of the game where Wyll contacts Mizora while she's captured.

I liked this scene because if you played as origin!Wyll, it appeared you could determine what sort of relationship he had with Mizora.

Also sad to see warlocks contacting their patron wasn't able to be implemented in the game as demo'd here.
