"This devil Raphael flaunts his paltry wings, as if he wants to impress us. You saw the red dragons slaying his infernal kin above Hell's fires, did you not? Next to a dragon, the devil's a gnat. When I am kith'rak, I will take my Queen Vlaakith his head as a trophy."
#Lae'zel#lae'zels act 1 mannerisms are peak#in earlier early access patches - the camera was more zoomed out#so you could see her mannerisms way more#gif

You seem to be assuming enemies. The ask said it's an interesting idea for shar/selune to be the same. Why not add to it instead of getting mad?
The ask is 100% innocent. It's true. But even children can think walking goosestep is fun.
Fandom churns these misogynistic ideas and it circulates in it's ecosystem unabashed and unchallenged. I no longer have empathy to coddle the ignorant. No matter how innocent they are. And if children want to exist on the internet, they need to learn it is not a fun little playground where they can play with toys when its all loaded guns.
"Teehee I love encouraging the idea that all the women in this video game happen to be evil harlots out to get you. Teehee. I don't think this furthers toxic societal agendas to keep women subordinate at all. So fun I can unload my mommy issues en masse here. I feel so accepted."
I will not be cooperative with any of it. And I will not apologize.

How do you turn the interesting premise of Shar and Selune being the same goddess as a power grab? People really see women as wholly corrupt entities and nothing else.
It's the train of thought here that is just... following this path of an assumption that women have and always have ulterior motives where the conclusion they come to makes 0 sense.
Dual goddesses are a motif across all of human history. Though stereotypical, they are meant to represent the "mystery of women". It is the concept of the light and dark side of the moon. Also why the collision of Shar and Selune is what created Mystra. Goddess of Magic and Mystery and why there is so much sexist gender fuckery in her lore.
Selune doesn't mettle specifically because in BG3 good aligned gods do not interfere. Neutral gods attempt to sway you. Evil aligned gods simply possess you and bend you to their will.
Selune is ineffectual not because she wants more followers, but because being impersonal is a tongue in cheek commentary by the game itself about autonomy and god's toying with it. Are you better off with a god who leaves you to your fate? Or a god who decides it for you?
Let's actually think about the themes here rather than "I don't trust this woman for some reason... She must be evil."

Sometimes I have to remind myself that the sheer overwhelming majority of players didn't play early access.
For context for how small the bg3 community was back in EA. (source)
Versus the numbers know.
The numbers for back in EA are so small it just looks like a line in the current chart.
#bg3 early access#13k concurrent players vs 875k#re-reblog#so much wrong info out there because ppl didnt play early access#where the context is

Death Domain
The Death domain is concerned with the forces that cause death, as well as the negative energy that gives rise to undead creatures. Deities such as Chemosh, Myrkul, and Wee Jas are patrons of necromancers, death knights, liches, mummy lords, and vampires. Gods of the Death domain also embody murder (Anubis, Bhaal, and Pyremius), pain (Iuz or Loviatar), disease or poison (Incabulos, Talona, or Morgion), and the underworld (Hades and Hel).
#death domain shadowheart is such a vibe#shadowheart#that second pic is giving me life#ironically lol

I do a lot of my personal learning through exploring the motifs of video games. And there is a lot of information in particular that I've parsed through the evil women of the game that has ballooned into something far greater.
On the one hand, sharing some of these thoughts far outpaces the scope of video game discussion, and is in essence a "pearls before swine" situation. These thoughts are better off on a different blog crafted to talk specifically about those types of things.
On the other hand, some of these thoughts cannot be readily divorced from the context. So in a sense, I've made my bed, now to lie in it.
I think once I finally put my Mystra thoughts into words, I may have said all I have to say about this game. Or at least all I have the time and vehemence for.
This fandom used to be a space for circulating ideas and sharing our love over the game. I used to write every day with likeminded fans in early access. But once the game hit critical mass and the player base demographic changed, reaching a wider audience, it was irreparably diluted. There is no space for deep thoughts in this fandom.
#text#an intps lament#(also because it takes me ages to write - it may take a while for me to get all my mystra posts out)#i started in fandom by doing character analyses on reddit and the larian forums#then - back when it was hard to find Lae'zel content - i made queenbaezel to reblog any quality Lae content I found#i was so obsessed with these characters that i then larped as a supreme bitch on the steam forums#those were the good days 🥰#reading my old posts there was some of the best and most unhinged writing ive ever made#ive lost much of my mojo since then - which is sad#but the predominant zeitgeist of fandom as of late#just isnt for my demographic#and i cant go back to steam or reddit because that ship has sailed

Slowly (and finally) starting to come to terms with the fact that fandom spaces are inherently juvenile.
The people I actually want to interact with, I would have better luck finding students of a "Narrative in Video Games" literary course than just banking that these people exist in the wild, among the sea of children looking for bed time stories.
#all the takes are bad because they are coming from ppl who have not yet or barely passed high school#text

Philippa Everhart, Lady of Vengeance 🕊️ 🗡️
'Inside her was an anger with a hundred thousand mouths. She fed it daily from her blade, dripping the blood of the wicked over its teeth. Yet by night, every night, it curled upon itself and whined with hunger.'
//
So so so excited to share this now that it's done!! My bg3 tav, half-drow vengeance paladin, stoic girl, star-gazer, lover of dorky clerics--amazingly captured by @eldrtchmn exactly as I see her in my head.
An incredible artist and a joy to work with <3 thank you x10000
