First finished mini of the new year! This guy has never worn his leathers for anybody else before and he's super nervous about what you might think. Still, he's being very brave and wearing the whole kit into the living room because you asked to see.

I decided to use this skeleton warrior to try out a speed-painting technique. I first slathered the whole gray-primed mini with cyan, yellow, and magenta contrast paints in various combinations to produce some saturated shadow colors. Then I did two to three rounds of highlights, depending on what part of the figure I was working on. Finally, I sketched some NMM on the shield and called it done. The whole process probably took about an hour of actual painting.

I'm generally pleased with the results except for the face, which I've badly overworked. Everybody I've showed it to in person blamed the sculpt, which has the most intense overbite you've ever seen. I think it could probably be made to look like some kind of mask, but I've got what I wanted to out of this skelly for now. Maybe I'll revisit it some day.
