Another Sunday, another successful preaching from the altar.

A few months ago, Joshua was gagging at the idea of faking the role of a young and kind priest, devoted to God and His words.

rant time!

kpop reaction content isn't exactly new (at least as far as I know) but it does seem to have kind of boomed in the last... two-three years I think. I remember there being only a handful of relevant kpop reaction content creators on youtube, some more popular that the others, but still there weren't a ton of them around. and I guess it makes sense because kpop itself has gotten much more popular and widely known outside of just [REDACTED] and among a wider age range I'd say.

but nowadays if you look up “X group - Y title track reaction” you will find tens, if not hundreds of reaction videos (especially if its a well known group) ranging from channels with hundreds of thousand subs to small account with a couple of hundred views on their reaction videos. and I just find that so weird.

like... especially for channels that do reactions as their main (and only) content, I find it extremely difficult to believe that after a certain point there is any authenticity behind these reactions. these big reaction channels are out there reacting to damn near every relevant kpop group's comebacks (and there are a LOT of them) and every single reaction is generally positive and often very enthusiastic.

aside from the fact that logically and statistically it's impossible for someone to like every title track being released, even if they're all objectively good (which they're not), because no one likes every genre and every style of music, there is basically no creativity involved in creating this type of content which makes it very dull both for the creator and the consumer after a while.

on top of that, this type of content has created a really toxic environment around expressing opinions and criticism toward kpop groups and kpop music. I just came across a video from one of these bigger (while also being newer) creators talking about how she's not happy with the content she's been making for the past year. she said that it's extremely overwhelming trying to keep up with every comeback when everyone expects you to react to their fave's CB and after a while sitting and reacting to music videos becomes repetitive especially when you're not even allowed to truly be yourself and express your opinions. she said she can't even talk about having a bias in a group because she would get tons of hate comments and dms about ppl bashing her for not having a different bias. I can't imagine how people would react to a reaction video creator saying she doesn't like a comeback or even a certain element in the song/mv.

I used to love kpop reaction videos back when I had just discovered them and they were not as big. like I genuinely get the appeal. seeing someone who's not a teenage girl (which is what stereotypically the general public thinks kpop stans are) is pretty validating. and back then there were like 'vocal coach reacts' or 'producer reacts' etc. seeing the reaction of "experts" analyzing different parts of a song/mv was really interesting for someone like me with zero knowledge of any of the technical stuff. and I also understand that they do contribute to promoting groups and comebacks to a certain degree. but it has just gone too far, in my opinion.

idk maybe I’ve just gotten old and lost the will to enjoy the small things that used to bring me joy but I genuinely don't enjoy reaction videos anymore. most of those older 'exerpts' (except for two I think) aren't active anymore (I'm guessing at least to some degree bc stans didn't want to hear that their fave was not that legendary of a vocalist or their fave song wasn't as layered and complex as they thought it was) and instead there are just random people reacting to kpop and some of them you can just tell that all their reactions are completely faked out. Youtubers are jumping on this trend bc it’s easy (in terms of not having any kind of real substance) and gets u good views if you’re a little charming and funny.

TL;DR : everything is fake and authenticity is dead. kdjfdjf I'm mostly joking but in the end, as per usual with my rants of this kind, I don't have a specific point or a solution. I'm just starting a conversation. so if any of you have something to add or just want to chat about this send me an ask!! (plz don't reply in the comments because I want this to be on my dash so everyone else can read too.)

here i will compile all of my success stories so far (through subliminals, law of attraction, law of assumption, etc.)

first story

i discovered subliminals around 2016-2017 but never tried them out cause i had way too many doubts and the sub community at that time was full of limiting beliefs and myths (the mirror belief, the “if you don’t drink water you’re gonna faint, if you obsess over it blah blah). so yeah i believed them all and i always thought i’d do it wrong if one day i decided to try the subs out.

of course, i started focusing on the physical appearance ones because my self steem was very low at that time, i didn’t like the way i looked and i always told myself that i was ugly (the new me is laughing hard at that).

my desired faces were jennie kim and irene, i thought they were REALLY pretty and i wanted to look like irene first but then i dropped the idea and went after jennie, i knew i was doing it all wrong cause i didn’t even isolate myself at a quiet place, my house at that time was really noisy and i couldn’t concentrate but now i know that the space doesn’t matter, subs will work either way, as soon as your subconscious is taking the info you’re fine.

i just listened to it for like 5 days? i didn’t persist and i didn’t know what i was doing because i was a newbie but i noticed changes!! not in that time, but later on (like one year later), a friend sent me a pic of jennie and told me: you remind me of her.

and i didn’t wanna accept it cause i thought she was joking, but one day i was trying random filters on snap and i noticed how my eyes looked more feline like and my face was soooo clear, like, after using that sub I SWEAR TO GOD, i never had to worry about acne or greasy skin anymore. it’s been years and my skin is still soft and acne free, EVEN THOUGH i eat a lot of butter and chocolate, it’s really surprising.

second story

okay so, moving on the second story, i was really struggling cause i got moved to another school that i didn’t like and well, to my surprise, we were only 4 girls in a classroom with over 20 guys, so it was a very uncomfortable feeling cause they would stare at me in areas that you’re not supposed to stare and they were really gross… i was really scared of that so i wanted to like have my own friend group of males to get to know them better and feel safe around them (they were the only ones that made me feel happy and in peace), they would defend me and stuff. i started sitting with them in the front of the classroom and they were super funny! we were 4 and another guy that joined later. i noticed this last guy was in love with me but he was different from the other guys that confessed to me cause this one was really patient, loving, caring and always respected me or my decisions but i wasn’t sure if i wanted a relationship so i just rejected him but we’re still friends to this day ^^

later i had a big argument with a friend of the group and he would mock me and take away my things, i reported his behavior to our teacher and he didn’t care at all and i really missed being friends decently with him so i started listening to a sub of fixing friendship + making a friendship better and i affirmed for like 3 days that he would respect me and talk to me again. AND GUESS WHAT, the third day we were really close again and he treated me better than before :’).

third story

this was my first law of attraction experience, i was getting out of a toxic relationship, and some things happened, my friends were all gone and i felt really alone at that time cause well, we all have been friends for a year almost two and i talked to them every day, we were a little kpop community and i really enjoyed it all, i had fake accusations on me and people impersonating me, calling me out for my content (i always liked to write about bloody stuff and alpha shit) and they didn’t like that as well and they started comparing me with other people, when i wanted to check on my gf, she had me blocked already. and that hurt like hell so i just stayed away from social media for a period of 4 months?

i was really demotivated and i hated everything. i would have these mini panic attacks whenever i remembered the situation and i couldn’t focus in my classes (that sadly were online at that time), it was really horrible. i still experience these attacks when i feel “pressed” or i feel i’ve done something wrong.

so yeah i was desperate, i wanted someone, someone to talk to, the situation was hard, i wanted to be heard and someone that could lend me a helping hand.

like 4 months after i joined discord and i met a lot of amazing people! to this day my social circle is still big and i have friends that are into manifestation as well, but that’s not the point, the point is that i made a special friend.

we would watch series/movies, listen to music, play together etc. and he’s such a sweetie. i fell in love with him tbh and i confessed AND HE FUCKING ACCEPTED, we’re still together btw 🤭💗 we have been together for one year and half!! AND I’M SOOOO SO HAPPY WITH HIM, he respects me a lot and is a very good person. :’D

not stories but little things i’ve manifested

lately i’ve been hella scared because EVERYTHING I THINK OF, ends up coming true!! the other day i was listening to music and i put it in random play and i thought: oh, it would be nice if x song started to play after this one AND I KID YOU NOT, IT FUCKING DIDDDD. I WAS LIKE WTH.

since my dad doesn’t celebrate halloween, i had to stay at home and i saw how all of my friends went to parties and had a lot of candies so i said: i would like to get some candies, i hope they bring some to school. BITCH THEY FRIGGIN GAVE ME A TON OF CANDIES!! EVEN MY TEACHERS 😭💗 i was so happy eating candies all dayyyy hell yeah.

i moved to another country and the situation has been hard cause my dad is a really strict person and is always putting me and my likes down AND FUCKKKK everything went better!! i don’t struggle like before and i have more freedom, i just thought that it would be nice if he treated me better and now i don’t have to fear or feel anxious when he’s around 🥹🥹 and also my siblings respect my space and don’t interrupt anymore. now i can work in peace.

a friend group/know a bunch of people, so yeah, school starts, of course i want to have friends. people told me that it would be difficult for me AND I WAS LIKE MEHH FUCK IT I KNOW I CAN, now i have a group friend and we share a lot of classes together 😁😁 i feel happy with them and i also have other friends outside of the group AND THEY ARE SOOOOO NICE WITH ME!! i have friends in every class and they have the same humor as me 👏🏼👏🏼

things i’ve thought of like wanting merch, specific food, etc: the other day i saw some itachi and manga stuff in amazon and i was like oh, i’d like to find them somewhere because i don’t wanna order AND MY COUSIN TOOK ME TO THE MALL AND WE FOUND THE FRIGGIN ITACHI FIGURES AND I ALSO BOUGHT THE CSM MANGA 🥹🥹 and whenever i think of fast food, dad calls me and asks me if i want something (when he’s almost coming home) AND HE GETS ME ANY FOOD I’D LIKE 😌

O nome do fandom é P1ece, foi escolhido através de uma votação no forms e divulgado aos fãs no fim de um show online que eles fizeram.

E pra mostrar que são artistas de verdade, anfes do lançamento (ou depois também) de cada comeback, eles fazem um cover em grupo chamado de P1ustyle. Pelos Plustyles é comum também ter uma prévia dos visuais do próximo comeback.

Um desses covers rendeu a eles o feat. com Pink Sweat$, Gotta Get Back, uma música bem calminha e diferente do que eles fizeram com as eras do Disharmony.

What made you ship it? What Was Missing! I was the dreaded fake fan who got into Adventure Time because of the preview for that episode and watched all the Marceline and Bubblegum episodes in a week to prepare with no care as to what I was missing of Finn and Jake's story otherwise, and the episode itself still blew all my hopes out of the water and displaced all my other fandoms. I basically became an AT fan overnight. I did then marathon the entire series and mostly keep up with it for the next gajillion years! But yeah this was one of a very very few fandoms I got into for the ship first, sorry to everyone in tags back then who was mad at us lmfaooooo

What are your favorite things about the ship? - Immortal bitter exes (and before Obsidian, that vibe of "we never dated but we're still exes" that I also find delicious) - The songs. Their songs are so gooooooood. Just Your Problem and Woke Up are probs my fav songs from the show (UNSURPRISINGLY) haha. You can invest me in a lot w/ music, see: my Rebecca Bunch CXGF otps. - The deceptive and creative characterization! Pink candy-sweet Princess Bubblegum is a stubborn mad scientist authoritarian ruler, scary vampire-wolf-bat Marceline the Vampire Queen is all lofi beats to chill to/soft vulnerable belly who drinks colors not blood. Both the like, most simply described versions of their characters, and the densest versions w/ character arcs and growth that are so wrapped up in each other, are pure pure fun! - The canon slowburn! I was so sure after What Was Missing that we had just been gifted obvious canon, and I actually was p humiliated I forgot to manage my expectations when the response was like "you delusional lesbos, I sleep in my bestie's shirts all the time, why do you have to make everything gay" and the network backed that up, because it truly did not occur to me that we weren't doing an explicitly queer story here. But the morsels they fed us after that were all still so tasty. Sky Witch unhinged me enough to do a shitty cosplay. The morsels could be maddening in the moment, when the network seemed adamantly opposed to any onscreen canon, but the cohesion and evolution of the story the showrunners still told in the face of that is both deeply narratively satisfying and just also incredibly well done? Obsidian was not a retcon in any way: it was just a culmination. A payoff of years of careful writing and deep fan engagement. Going back and rewatching everything made my heart burst!!! They were truly worth the wait.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I think it's probably popular to be irritated with flanderized takes on the characters where PB is a prep and Marcy is a goth and Marcy makes PB blush and that's the entire dynamic, so idk. I was never into the "drawing your OTP as Bubbline" fandom trend that was omnipresent for many years (why are you TAGGING your kpop dude art as Bubbline! GUYS), but otoh I always kind of preened over what a fandom blueprint the ship became, so I can't complain too much. Maybe just I think PB is hot when she's mean. Yes I have dom/sub preferences in a sentient piece of gum/demonbat cartoon ship.
