That one Arika wallpaper haunts me. But like, in a good way.
Tried out some new things, kinda like how this turned out, if I work on it anymore I'll cry, and said wallpaper I ref'ed will be under the cut. :)

I believe it's for White Day, but I can't help but focus on that vaguely bomb shaped gift...

Forced Goodbyes
So...Phase 1's done. I wanted to draw something for the end of it, since I don't know when I'll get to writing Phase 2. So here's a quick redraw of that last hug.

I've been re-watching the Arika FEXL D.Dark announcement video and after going frame by frame to get some pics, I was able to get his cute little bouncy head tilts and I'm-

Kekse?
Okay, so thanks to @regibimbo and this post, I had to draw him like this otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I also really wanted to try and get better at drawing scars and slightly revamp my Alternate Ending look for him. I couldn't decide wether I liked the pink apron or the one that matched his uniform though, so I just did both.
Now...uh, I have some...interesting alt versions and their respected transparent versions under the cut....I"m probably the only one who asked for these ones though....
I...don't have any excuse for these....

Baby Steps
Rematch time! Place your bets.
Phase 1: Part 4
Word Count: (About) 1,280
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
"You. Me. Rematch. Tonight."
"No."
"...Tomorrow night?"
"Fine."
With that, Crow leaves to his room for some much needed rest. He could only think about what Holger said about him steadying his emotions. Is he really going to take his words to heart? Why should he? Maybe because it's been a long while since he's had his ass handed to him. Or maybe it's because even though Holger won, he wasn't boastful about it like he would of been? Or could it even be that Holger actually gave him another shot to prove himself? What does Holger gain from all of this anyways? He doesn't even seem to like him, or well, most people.
All these questions were stopping him from gaining any type of rest. So he decided to make use of this time and train instead. He remembered seeing a gym type area when he got lost looking for his Uncle's office, guess it wouldn't hurt to practice 'steadying his emotions' there.
Why does he have to make things difficult, not only for himself, but for others as well? Holger was trying to come to terms with this new assignment he pretty much gave himself. It's not like he can't handle it, but it's definitely a new type of challenge. Beating Crow up daily won't solve anything, he needs him to listen and understand him as well. He never had this much trouble with the other men in his unit, what makes Crow so special?
"Hiya! Huhg! Ah! Ya!"
The aggressive grunting of training broke him out of his spell. He must of wandered near the gym, but who would be training this late at night. Oh, wait.
"Heya! Hut! Ha!"
"Hmph, you really want to kick my ass that badly, huh?"
"Huh? Oh. Well, if you put it like that your gunna make me feel bad about it. To be fair, I don't really have anything against you. I realize that you were trying to help...in your own...stupid way. I just want to win, at least once, then I'll be out of you're hair for good."
"..."
"What?"
"Even if, in the slim chance you do manage to beat me, I...I don't think you should leave."
"...Why? All I've done was cause trouble since I got here. This isn't really a place for someone like me. I'm better off going back home and living out my sad little life drowning in music and booze like I was before."
"Your Uncle believes you could be putting your skills to good use here, instead of wasting away with 'music and booze'....Look, I get that you don't feel as though this place is for you, it's...a different atmosphere here, trust me I know, but you have so much potential, I know Guile sees it, and I'm sure Charlie did as well."
"And you?"
"...You...definitely impressed me, even if you weren't able to land a single hit. I think that if you would be open for taking some advice, you would be a fine addition to my unit."
"Heh...you seem almost genuine...alright. You were watching me a bit before you came into talk to me, ya? I'd hate to ask this, but...got any pointers?"
As the night went on, the two of them practiced together. Crow was pretty good about keeping a calm head and an open mind as Holger tried to guide him in the fine art of assault. Not much progress was made on Crow's end, but he took all of what Holger taught him to heart, and is totally not planning on using those skills in their next fight.
The day went on and Crow was sent to do push-ups for entire time he was supposed to be training with the unit, as punishment for the low performance of their first bout. Not that he got through most of them. Staying up till God-knows-when trying to keep his cool while training, takes a toll on ones body. It turned into more of an impromptu nap time. Holger noticed, and since he ordered him to do it and was partially responsible, he'd let Crow rest a bit...before waking him to keep going every five 5 minutes.
After dinner, there was some time before Crow and Holger had to duke it out again. Crow took this time to find a nice spot to relax. He found an old, rusted, barely used plane, and sat on it's wing to get a nice view of the sunset. Thinking this might be the only time he'll have a moment of peace for a while.
"We can't seem to keep away from each other can we?"
"Oh, Holger! I...didn't think anybody would be out here."
"I usually come here to get away from the others, they can become annoying at times."
"Yeah, you don't quite strike me as a people person."
"Hmph, I like people just fine. I'm not a fan of the annoying, stupid ones though."
"Ah, like me."
"..."
"I'm just teasing you, don't get so huffy about it. Hey, why don't you come up here and join me, it's a hell of a view. It'd be nice to relax a bit before we have to kill each other."
"I most likely won't kill you, but I will join you. Peace is a rare thing around here, more-so since you showed up..."
"You're welcome! I've been known to make things more....interesting. I....do have something to ask you though..."
"Hm?"
"Can you try not to send me to infirmary this time? You really had Uncle Bill worried about me. He even gave me a whole speech about being 'safe' afterwords. I just...don't want him to have to worry about me like that again, okay?"
"I...suppose I can give it a try. No promises, though. You are very easy to punch."
"Hehe, yeah, I can understand that...but that won't be the case for much longer. You mark my words."
The two of them fell silent, watching as the sun slowly set in a sea of beautiful colors. Waiting for the dark blues and blacks to settle in the sky, signalling that their moment of peace was over. They both silently moved off the plane wing and into a more open area of the field. Now it's just them, all alone.
"Are you ready, then, Crow?"
"...More-so than last time, at least."
"Very well, let's begin."
As the familiar song and dance of their fight begins, the feelings of stress and anger from their first bout seem like a distant memory. This time the air is filled with determination and respect. Holger noticed that Crow is slower than last time, he's seems to be actually thinking about his next moves, not as much as he should, but still, he's learning. Crow still can't seem to land a punch and is knocked down, again and again. However, he seems to be keeping his cool...somewhat.
"Fuck! Let me....hit you!"
His anger seems to be geared more towards himself than anything else this time. Holger lets up, giving Crow a clear opening to land a hit, just to see if he'll take it. He doesn't. Crow instead seems to be lost in thought, as if he's trying to keep something down, stopping himself from losing the little control he has left. Realizing what Crow's doing, he goes in for a knock down, but Crow dodges it, and follows through with a counter, landing a good hit on his jaw. Crow's learning, and Holger almost feels proud, but it's time to put this fun to an end. He manages to get a good trip on him, and on the way down delivers a final blow. Knocking Crow out, once again.
"...I did say...no promises..."

Take A Breath
The aftermath of Crow's first mission. Someone's trust comes into question creating some...problems.
Phase 1: Part 7
Word Count: (About) 1,330
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
Eight men wait on a hill for the last two members of their unit to come join them. They weren't expecting to get front row seats to see the base go up in a glorious blaze. With no captain or fellow private in sight. They all look in on the flames in a shocked, stunned silence.
"Hmph, of course you would all be waiting around doing nothing when we got back."
Holding up a limping Crow who's barely conscious and carrying the documents, Holger makes his way towards the helicopter without another word. The rest of the unit attempts to compose themselves and follow the other two in. Heading home in silence as the everyone tries to wrap their heads around what just happened.
"He was the only one to get hurt?"
Guile looked at Holger with with slight anger and disappointment in his eyes. He knew his nephew wasn't ready for something like this. Thankfully it was just his leg that was injured and not...something worse.
"...Yes sir. It wasn't in vain, we managed to get all the documents we came for, and-"
"One of your men got wounded on a covert mission. Key word: covert. You weren't supposed to be discovered, at all. Yet you did, and he paid for it. Not to mention, that any other info we could of gathered from that base is gone now."
"...They didn't touch Crow. He...did that himself. As for the base...that was...my fault."
"...Explain."
"We had to use the vents to travel from one room to the next at one point. Crow must of landed wrong when he jumped out of it, spraining his ankle. Making it worse, was when he had to apply pressure to it when we were escaping. I tried to help him the best I could."
"Hmm, you make sure when he gets cleared to give him proper training in that area. Can't have him breaking his legs out there before he even reaches the enemy. Now, how on God's green Earth did you manage to make a base explode? I know you usually have C-4 on hand, but I can't see you hauling enough to cause that much damage."
"I...did have C-4 on hand this time, yes. I used some to blow open the safe that the documents were in. There was a motion alarm inside that neither one of us noticed. It was set off as soon as I grabbed the folder. We managed to hide in the vents and the guards were unable to spot us. Which must of prompted one of them to set off some extreme security measures. All other members of my unit were already safely out of the base by then. Crow and I...made it out...last minute. Besides a few minor hiccups, I feel the overall mission was a success."
"...I...guess that's not too awful for his first mission, I suppose... You are going to have fill out a few reports detailing exactly what you just told me, and then attend some extra training for a while. Am I understood?"
"Sir, yes sir..."
Ah, that old familiar look of the infirmary ceiling greeted Crow once again. It felt different this time though. He managed to live through his first mission, although barely...and not without some pain either. Not to mention the sudden dread he feels when he remembers that he's going to have to explain to Holger what happened in those last few moments at the base. Hey, at least his foot's healed.
The nurse told him to take it easy for the rest of the day, just in case. Thinking that if he managed to get back to his room before Holger does, he could pretend to be asleep so he can put off the inevitable confrontation a bit longer. Deep down, he knew he was already too late.
"How?"
Sure enough, as soon as Crow opened the door, Holger was already there waiting for him. He was sitting on the edge of his bed, not even giving Crow a glance as he walked in. He seemed upset...and angry. Something Crow wasn't used to seeing from his superior...and friend.
"..."
"Answer me, Krähe. How...how did we escape that explosion? It was...impossible..."
"Since when am I 'Krähe', this your cute new nickname for me? The German word for 'Crow'?"
"...I'm upset, I slipped up. Don't change the subject."
"...Fine. It...it's not going to make much sense. It's like me explaining my dream to you all over again...I'm...well, I was...born with...uh, magic powers...kinda..."
"You...expect me to believe that?"
"You were there, now you're here, and it's because I chose to use my 'skills' to save you. I can explain it in a little bit more detail, but I might just make you even more confused."
"...Go on."
"Okay, well, I'm not exactly an...expert on this, even though I know that's weird to say since it's my power. This...thing...didn't come with a guidebook so I've had to figure most of this out myself. The best term for it I found is 'shadowmancy'. I have like...control over shadows...kinda. Not only can I control them though, I can travel through them as well, and take people with me if need be. That's how I got us out of there. I also heal faster than other people, which should explain why I don't stay in the infirmary long, but there's...some conditions to both of them."
"Conditions?"
"Using either one of my powers really takes a toll on me, well, depending on how much I have to use them. The more I have to exert myself when using them, the more likely I am to pass out. It's why I try to save using them as a last resort. Plus, it kinda feels like cheating when I use them, can't really control the healing aspect though."
"Does...does anybody else know?"
"Uncle Bill, and now you. I'd...rather keep this a secret. If I could of prevented you finding out, I would of. I didn't want to freak you out with all of this...it's a lot."
Finally deciding to move, Holger makes his way in front of Crow. Face to face now, Crow can see the anger swelling behind his eyes. There's a touch of hurt in there too, but it's barely visible.
"'Freak me out'? I thought you would of come up with a better excuse than that. Why not tell me the truth? You don't trust me. Your powers could of prevented all of what happened out there last night. We could of been in and out of there in seconds! No, you had to withhold information from me, and for what? To make yourself feel better? What if things went worse than they did, would you of stepped up? No, I doubt you would of. You're selfish."
"Holger. I didn't...I...do trust you, don't you ever think differently. I wouldn't of followed you in those vents if I didn't! I am selfish, I know I am, but I would of given up my life if it meant saving you and the team! I know that me not telling you made things...difficult and we both have to pay for it, but-"
"Don't. I'm done hearing excuses from you."
"No. You listen to me. I didn't want to tell you because you're the only fucker in this place who puts up with me, and, in the off chance my powers would of made you want nothing to do with me, I didn't want to lose the only 'friend' I had here. You gave me a chance Holger. I don't want to lose someone who trusts me. Not that me saving you're life seemed to help. So, take that stick out of your ass, and go fuck yourself!"
Slamming the door on his way out, Crow leaves, face still red with anger. Holger struck a nerve questioning his loyalty, and after all he's done for him, it hurt. Realizing he needs to cool down, he decides to head to the showers.

Quite The Sting
Bit of a time skip. Some bonding with Holger involved. Not to mention Crow's first mission...that may turn out to be his last.
Phase 1: Part 6
Word Count: (About) 2,666
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
Months of hard training, and many infirmary visits later, Crow still can't get much headway with beating Holger. It's not due to lack of trying though, no, Holger is just making sure he keeps Crow on his toes. By this point they have a system: they fight, Holger explains to Crow what he's doing wrong and how to fix it, Crow listens to about half of that, and is forced to visit the infirmary yet again. Both are growing. In not only strength, but in friendship.
After being cleared by the nurse, for the 8th time this week, Crow heads back to his room. His mind swimming with the thought of how to perfect the new maneuver Holger taught him this time. It really hurt, and he wants to weaponize it himself.
"Maybe if I....move faster, then I could hit him harder? Yeah, that sounds right..."
Entering his room, he's greeted by the familiar emptiness he's grown accustomed to at this time of the day. Holger usually has a meeting with Guile to give updates about him and his unit after their daily combat training. Usually giving Crow some time to himself for a while. Not that he enjoys it though. He's grown somewhat close to his cold superior, and almost misses talking to him sometimes.
Suddenly, he hears the door open. Holger's back earlier than usual, must of been a short meeting. He seems to be carrying something.
"Back early I see, I hope it went well."
"We discussed some things, nothing too important, like always. Charlie and him had some duties to attend to though, so we had to cut it short. I did, however...convince him to let you join me and my unit on our next mission."
"WHAT?!? NO WAY! How did ya manage that? He seemed pretty stern on waiting till I got more practice in."
"I just told him what I've been observing with you. You've been improving and actually listening to my orders, for the most part. I told him that I thought you were ready, and I just hope that you're willing to prove me right."
"I...yeah, thanks Holger. I appreciate it."
"Here, you'll be needing this if you're going to be representing one of my men."
Holger holds out the item he carried in with him, presenting it honorably towards Crow. A black army vest. It's similar to the one Holger and his men wear, complete with the red scorpion insignia on the back. Crow takes it gently, in utter awe of it and what it represents.
"Holger...I-"
"Don't think much of it. You still need to prove to me that you are capable out on the field. Our enemies won't just be sending you to the infirmary if they get a hold of you. I'd...rather not have to drag you back in a body bag..."
"I understand. I just...thank you. For more than just the mission thing. You gave me a second chance, most people would of given up on someone like me. You pushed through though, I...won't forget that."
"...I wouldn't of taken a chance if I didn't think you could do it. Just...don't let me down."
"I'll give it my all...sir."
The weeks leading up to to the next mission were...tense. Crow, not wanting to let this chance go to waste, gave it his all in everything that his superior threw at him. All culminating to the mission briefing and preparation meeting. Crow watches patiently as Holger goes over everything. Trying his best to stay as focused as his fellow unit members, but his nerves are starting to get to him. Shaking his right leg in an attempt to help ease his mind.
"This is strictly a covert mission. No drawing attention to ourselves. No getting caught. We will be leaving at nightfall to have extra coverage. We're to go in, get the info, and get out. Am I clear?"
"Sir, yes sir!"
"The before mentioned info is located in secretary's safe in the middle of the base. We have to pass 3 rooms to reach it. Each door is heavily guarded by 4-6 men in each room. They change guard every 6 hours, which takes around 5 minutes each. They change one after the other, which gives us a small window to sneak through each room. If we miss any of those windows, we'll have to wait till the next change, wasting precious time. We will not be missing these windows. Am I clear?"
"Sir, yes sir!"
"Very well, grab your gear and we'll join at the helicopter waiting outside. Dismissed."
Crow's excited, yeah, but he's also worried about the consequences if he screws up. If they miss those windows, it'll be a huge setback, and no doubt disappoint Holger. Not to mention what would happen if they get caught... Trying to get a hold of his nerves, he grabs his gear and puts on the vest he was gifted. Making his way to the helicopter he sees Holger breaking up the ten man unit into groups of two, and assigning them positions.
"...Smith and Johnson, you're on lookout. Jones and Davis, you're to make sure our getaway here is protected and ready when we need it. Crow, you're with me."
He was stunned by the implications that Holger and himself are going to be going in there head first. Crow didn't have time to fully comprehend it as he was shuffled into the helicopter with the others. Taking his seat, he held his head in his hands, clearly worried. Holger took notice of this and took a seat next to him.
"Keep your cool, private. This is a simple mission, nothing too complicated. If you follow my orders, we'll be fine. We have enough back up in case things do get out of hand, but I doubt, with all the training and prep we've done, we'll need it. So, get it together, we'll be alright. After all, I've got your back."
"I'm that obvious...huh? I just wish I could stop shaking, I...I don't want to let you...the unit down...or have something even worse happen."
"...Even if this doesn't go exactly as planned...I won't be upset, as long as we get the job done, that's all that matters. I have confidence that you'll do just fine."
"...Thanks Holger, that...that helps."
The helicopter lands in it's designated area, behind a hill that's a few yards away form the enemy base, perfectly out of sight. Everyone starts moving into their designated positions. The six men that are going in start to head up the hill to get a good look of where the best point of entry is. Taylor, a younger looking man with short brown hair and glasses is the first to speak up. After looking through his binoculars, mentions that there's a door on the East side that is left unguarded at the moment and there appears to be no security cameras. Holger decides to give it a brief look over. When things look clear he gives the group the okay to head down.
Using the shadows as coverage, all of them get in without causing alarm. Once in, they all take cover. Three on one side of the hall, and three on the other. Holger peaks around the corner and informs the rest of the group, via hand motions, that this room has the minimum amount of 4 guards. According to the time, they should be changing in about 2.5 minutes. Giving the team advantage of the full 5 minute window when it comes.
All of a sudden, one of the team members notices that there are two cameras pointed at the door. They'll need to take care of those before they make their move towards the door. They aren't able to do that in the 2 minutes they have left without being seen, so they'll have use part of that precious 5 minute window instead.
Waiting for them to change seemed to take ages, the suspense was eating away at Crow. He tried to keep all that worry to himself, but it showed on his face clear as day. Holger noticed, but figured the best thing to do was to continue on with the plan. The guards were finally starting to leave and once there backs were turned, Holger and another man on the unit quickly disposed of the cameras via garrote wires. One yank from them and they were gone. A few moments after the guards were fully out of view, the group rushed into the next room.
This room was much smaller than the last, meaning less places to hide. Five guards by the door this time. The group broke off into their smaller assigned groups of two, and took cover behind crates that were strewn about the area. They cleared the first room ahead of schedule, so they had some extra time to scan this room. Two cameras positioned in a similar fashion as the last ones. Holger motioned to the group closest to them to take them out when the coast was clear. As Crow was scanning the place he noticed a major roadblock. The door they needed to go through this time had a key card scanner. Crow motioned to it to notify Holger.
Looking around, Holger noticed there was a ventilation system that lead into the next room. They would still have to wait for the guards to change otherwise they would all be spotted. They still needed to take care of the cameras as well. Meaning that the two men who had to take care of the cameras wouldn't have enough time to get to the vents. Leaving the group going forward slightly handicapped. If the two men timed it right, they could still head back the way they came and meet them back at the helicopter.
After Holger informed the others about what's to be done, it was time for the guards to change. It went pretty on beat as the first one did, take out the cameras and go, only this time with a vent detour. The vent path lead to an opening in the next room, giving what was left of the group a good view of this room.
Six men, four cameras, little to no places to hide. The only place someone could potentially hide was behind a set of chairs, but that'd only work for two men, and they still had a team four left. They had it all planned it out, but it wasn't the most ideal. The other team of two would go down when the guards change and take cover behind the chairs, taking out the cameras as soon as it was clear. Holger and Crow would then make it though the door, again leaving the other men to head back.
The time comes, and it goes as planned, almost. As Crow jumped down from the vents he lands wrong, spraining his ankle. He managed to keep up with Holger's pace and makes it through the door. He's visibly limping, and Holger grabs onto him to help him stabilize. This last room seems empty at least, but they still try to stay quiet.
"*Are you alright? Can you keep going?*"
"*I'm fine, just a little slow. Lets get this over with.*"
Scanning the room once again, they notice the closed safe with the documents they need behind a desk. There's also three cameras. Two pointed at the safe and one at the door. They don't really have a time crunch now, but it's best to get this done quickly. Holger wastes no time taking out the cameras as Crow makes his way to the safe. They both notice it's locked with a 4 digit combination.
"*How are we going to open this? We can't just take the whole safe with us. It's too heavy."
"*That's were this comes in.*"
Holger reaches into one of his vests pockets and pulls out a bundle of C-4. Carefully placing it near the locking mechanism on the safe. Motioning Crow to back up a bit.
"*Wait, won't that be too loud?*"
"*We got in here fast, the guards in the last room haven't fully changed over yet. No one is here to be alerted. We'll be fine.*"
Not a second later, and without warning, Holger detonates the C-4 blasting the safe wide open. Inside they see a folder filled to the brim with the documents they came in here for. Holger quickly grabs them and fingers though it, making sure it's all there. Unbeknownst to them at first, the safe was rigged with an alarm which set off a loud siren in the entire base as soon as the folder was moved. Fortunately, the other men in the unit were safely awaiting their captain at the helicopter. Unfortunately, said captain and his private were still deep inside the base.
"Damn it! We need to get to the vents! Now!"
Crow attempts to stand up and run, but is quickly brought back down to the ground. The pain that shot through his leg was to much for him to fight off any longer. Holger immediately lifts Crow and carries him to the vents. He has to help him in, giving the guards in the base plenty of time to get to the room. As Holger finally gets a chance to enter the vents himself, they hear the door swing open. Followed shortly by the sound of footsteps running in. No one seemed to notice the two hiding in the vents, but they could tell it wouldn't be long before they did if they didn't start moving.
"*Holger, I can't...move that fast....my leg it's too...swollen, and I'd just slow you down. Go in front of me and get out of here.*"
"*No, absolutely not. Do you have any idea what they would do to you if they caught you? We''ll get out of here together, or not at all.*"
Slowly shuffling through the vents they make it back to the third room, and then the second. The vents stop there, meaning they'll have to sneak through the the rest on foot. As Holger carefully helps Crow down out of the vent, they are interrupted by the sound of an intercom echoing throughout the base.
"ALL PERSONAL MUST EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. SEVERE SECURITY MEASURES IN EFFECT. SELF-DESTRUCTION IN T-MINUS 3 MINUTES."
Looking at each other with shock, Holger's grip on Crow tightens. No one is in this room, and the door is clear. Crow tries his best to shuffle to the door with his bum leg with Holger's help. Once they get to the metal door, it won't budge. It's far too sturdy to use C-4 on as well. Looking desperately for another exit, the two see a pile of wood planks leaned up against a wall. Removing the planks, they discover an area that was under renovation. They take no time rushing in, hoping that it leads to a way out.
"ALL PERSONAL MUST EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. SEVERE SECURITY MEASURES IN EFFECT. SELF-DESTRUCTION IN T-MINUS 2 MINUTES."
It's cold and dark. They can barely see what they ran into, but their hearts both sink once they realize they've encountered a dead end. Holger reaches for another C-4 and applies it to the wall, moving himself and Crow out of the blast zone, and detonates it. It's a desperate move, but they are all out of choices at this point.
"ALL PERSONAL MUST EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. SEVERE SECURITY MEASURES IN EFFECT. SELF-DESTRUCTION IN T-MINUS 1 MINUTE."
As the smoke clears they realize that did...nothing. The wall was too solid to be destroyed. They don't have enough time to make it back and check the door again, not that it would be unlocked anyways. Both of their hearts have sunken deep into their chests by now. Holger's grip on has loosened as he moves into a hug, holding Crow tight, and whispering something Crow can't quite make out.

Where Do We Go From Here?
Crow's decision on whether or not he stays comes to an answer, and a nightmare that might become a warning, rears it's ugly head.
Phase 1: Part 5
Word Count: (About) 1,810
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
He manages to get a good trip on him, and on the way down delivers a final blow. Knocking Crow out, once again.
"...I did say...no promises..."
Greeted with the familiar sight of the infirmary ceiling, Crow, closing his eyes in pain, tries to shift off his cot, but only manages to roll on his side.
"You lost."
Opening his eyes once more, he's greeted by Holger sitting on one of the guest chairs reading a newspaper. He seems almost unscathed.
"Yeah...I had a feeling...considering I'm back here again."
"...You shouldn't take this defeat to heart though. You've shown me that you are capable of learning and improving. You even got a single hit in."
Holger places his newspaper down, giving Crow a good look at his face. There's a pretty gruesome bruise on the lower left of his jaw. Crow gives him a slight smirk in return.
"But...if this was out on the field for like, a mission, or something, then I'd most likely be dead right now. Right?"
"You may be far from ready to join in on mission work, but I have faith that you can get there. Even if it means extra training lessons...which I don't mind giving, that is, if you are willing."
"~Ooooh, personal lessons from Herr Holger himself, how fancy.~"
Holger places the newspaper back in front of his face.
"...Never mind, I take it back. Leave."
"Aw, come on, I'm just joking. I do...want to take some time to think about your offer though. I'm just...in a strange place right now."
"...That's...understandable. I do...hope you stay though, I...haven't had a challenge like you in a while. I rather enjoy this change of pace."
"~That's sweet, you like me, we're gunna be the best of friends.~"
"Tsch, go back to being asleep. You were much more tolerable that way..."
"Oh, in your dreams, you're stuck with me now."
Later in Guile's office, Crow sits and waits in silence for his Uncle to return from a meeting. He had time to think about his future. He's confident in his new decision.
"Crow. I wasn't expecting you. Can I help you with something?"
"...I'm staying..."
"Speak up, little bird."
"I said, I'm staying."
"R-really? What's with the change of heart all of a sudden? Holger didn't hit you on the head too hard did he?"
"No, I just....I have a lot to learn. Holger, he...managed to get through to me, and I respect him, sorta-kinda...I'm willing to give this place a shot. Well, as long as you keep me in Holger's unit."
"That can be arranged."
"Thanks Uncle Bill, I'll try my best to make you guys proud."
"One more thing before you go. The room I gave you was only temporary. Since you're staying, we're going to have have to give you a change of rooms."
"That's...fine, I guess. Where will I be lodging?"
"I'll let you and your new roommate know after lunch."
"...Roommate?"
Soon enough, lunch came and went, and Guile led Crow to his new home for the time being. It was a small room, with a decently sized window looking out onto the air field, and fitted with a bunk bed. Clearly, his new roommate already claimed the bottom bunk considering all their clothes were placed about it.
"It's...cozy I suppose. Hope the new roomie doesn't mind me tossing and turning at night."
"Oh, I doubt he'd mind...Speaking of, he should be here soon."
"You're familiar with them I assume?"
"Heh, so are you."
As Guile was teasing his nephew, the new roommate walked in.
"Crow. What are you doing in my room? I'm supposed to be meeting my new roommate. Get out."
"...Holger..."
"Have fun you two, don't kill each other, and stay warm!"
Crow and Holger both stood in shock looking at each other as Guile left the room.
"Unbelievable."
"Heh, I told you, you're stuck with me now. Didn't think we'd be this close though, in fact I think Uncle Bill is trying to punish us for something, but I don't think I'd get along too well with anybody else as much as you."
"Hmm, could be...worse, I suppose. Just don't touch my stuff."
"Same goes for you."
As Crow gets his things in place, he notices a picture on Holger's nightstand. It's of him and a someone close to his age, they seem close. Crow grabs it to get a better look.
"Crow, what did I just say?"
"What? It's just a picture you had out on display, I'll put it back. Who is this? You got a lover back home?"
"...That's my twin you heathen."
"Hey, whoa, watch it, I didn't know! They seems nice though. You two seem close."
"We are...we were separated at birth, and it was hard at first, but we pushed through. They...are a very strong person. I plan to spend more time with them when I'm done serving. I think you two would get along, you both are....like that."
"Like that? I think I get what you're trying to imply Mr. No-fun-allowed, I hope that after all of this, though, we can all meet for lunch somewhere or something. Just hang out, ya know? I think it'd be neat to meet your evil twin."
"Funny that you assume I'm not the evil one."
Smiling as he puts the picture back, Crow gets his stuff taken care of, and decides to take a rest.
"I think I'm gunna sit the rest of the day out, Holger. I hope you don't mind me missing our private lesson today."
"...It's alright, I'm somewhat beat myself, and one of my men needed help with some of his equipment. I'll be back after dinner."
With that Crow climbs onto his bunk and lies down, staring out the window as he drifts off into a much needed sleep. Taking in his new path in life, and hoping he chose the best course of action.
It's cold. It's dark. Crow seems to be alone, surrounded by a foggy mist, but he feels a distant presence. Looking off into the dark, he sees two shapes that vaguely resemble bodies. One lying on the ground, and one standing, but hunched over. Both are shrouded in darkness. They seem oddly familiar, if only he could move and reach out to get their attention.
Fortunately, he doesn't need to move, both of the figures were pushed closer by an unknown force. With the closer distance Crow could feel some type of energy radiating off of them. The one on the ground gave off a cold, weak, almost dead sorta feel, as if what was inhabiting the body has left. The other one felt heated as if anger and rage consumed it, it didn't seem like it was too familiar with it though, it was....uncomfortable in this state. It didn't seem...stable. This figure also felt as though it was staring at him, or was it through him, if he could only see them clearly.
With one last push, the figures were almost eye to with him now. Both still covered in darkness, but Crow could make out some of their features better. The figure on the ground was wearing a flack jacket, and had a similar form to Charlie, but he couldn't see his face since it was turned away on the side. It seemed to be lying in a pool of something as well. The standing figure was in a blue uniform, one that Crow was all too familiar with, he couldn't see the figures face though, it was covered in complete darkness, except for the eyes. The eyes were plastered wide open, an icy cold blue that Crow wouldn't forget. Holger.
Why were these figures here? Why were they so...grim? Crow with every ounce of his strength managed to move his arm to reach out to this 'Holger' clone. Right before he made contact, he was pulled away by a strong force that seemed to have a bright light behind it. The last thing he saw was the figures dissapearing into the dark as he was being blinded by this new force's brightness.
"Holger!"
Crow awakes in a cold sweat, the room is dark, it must be late. The only light is coming through a small break in the curtain, but it's enough to prove he's back on Earth. Back in his room. Back to normal.
"Crow, what's wrong? Are you alright?"
Holger was standing near the edge of Crow's bunk, seemingly half awake, but alert enough to see that something was wrong.
"I-ah...uhm, it's....it's nothing. I'm alright. Just a...just a nightmare."
"You look pale, are you sure? You're shaking as well...Crow..."
"I-I'm fine. I just, I get nightmares often, but....they...uhm...God this is going to make me sound crazy if I explain it to you..."
"Go on, I'm sure I've heard stranger. Plus, I doubt either one of us is going to get any more sleep tonight."
"Yeah...my bad. I...I get nightmares, yeah, but sometimes they can be, uh, prophetic. I'm just hoping...this one wasn't one of those..."
"Prophetic dreams? ...Interesting."
"See, I told you! I sound nuts! It was nothing, just forget it."
"What was it about? If you don't mind me asking. You did scream my name, after all..."
"I'm....not fully sure, it was kinda vague. You and Charlie, well, what I'm to believe was you two. You were both shrouded in darkness, and you were both....off. Charlie seemed...dead, and you were...not normal, you weren't welcoming to say the least. When I was about to make contact, I was pulled away by some...light? I think. Then it just...ended."
"...Not welcoming? ...Alright, if it was to be taken as prophetic, what would that mean? Charlie dies, and what? I become less nice? That hardly seems like much to worry about."
"Wow you don't much care for Charlie either do ya? No, I...I don't think I can fully explain what you were in my dream it wasn't just...that. I...ugh, I can't word it correctly, but it wasn't good, at all. As for the light, which you'd think would be a good sign, seemed like it did more harm then good. I felt defenseless for most of this experience as well, I just...I hope it wasn't a warning. It makes me feel sick thinking that these figures might become a reality..."
"...I...see, I suppose. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, we make sure we can face almost anything before we go out on a mission. I don't think a little bit of darkness will turn any of us into monsters."
"Don't underestimate the power of darkness. It can and will take souls without mercy if given the chance. One can fall too easily into it, but I get what you're saying. You're right, I probably shouldn't worry about this it...it was just a nightmare after all..."
"Well...since neither one of us will be able to fall back asleep, would you like to make up for that lesson you missed out on earlier?"
"Yeah, actually, it might help me get my mind off things."

I guess I could post some of my old flash drive pics. Holger's win screens from Street Fighter EX3 and FEXL respectively.
I know the first one's a bit hard to read so I'll provide the transcript for em both under the cut.
'When he realizes that he will always live in cold and solitary darkness. Dark tries to think about his childhood. His mind remembers those lonely times when he was a child crying out loud and then whispering, 'Darkness...deep darkness...is covering the ceiling...' When Dark comes to, he notices the pile of bodies around him. Insanely he laughs, 'Ha ha ha ha ha! This is the power of darkness...'
'Leave the rest to me...
Give me all of your power...My power...
hehehe...HAHAAHAHA!
That's it! It's me! Holger is invincible! Just you wait!
JUST YOU WAIT!'

Forced Goodbyes
We finally reached the conclusion to Phase 1 (out of 3). Some slight time skips here and there, just to wrap things up a bit. Tragedy strikes, and messes everything up. Guess we'll have to see how that all leads into Phase 2...
Phase 1: Part 9 (End)
Word Count: (About) 1,200
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
It was a cold morning when Holger and Crow were called to Guile's office. They were to go over their next big mission. Normally it'd just be Holger, but Crow insisted on tagging along.
"It's just a simple recon mission. Just get some info about this guy...Rolento and his men, then get out. It's going to start simple, and stay simple, you two got it?"
"Sure."
"Yes, sir."
"...Crow, I mean it."
"Hey! All I did was get a little hurt last time. The other stuff was beyond my control."
"And you'll be sure to be far more careful this time, correct?"
"...Yes, sir..."
"When do you plan on sending us out?"
"About a month from now, they're supposed to be stationed in a much more open area by then. It should makes things a bit easier."
Having to wait a month for action, Crow starts to get bored out of his mind. Training is getting tedious, and if he has to see the infirmary ceiling one more time this week he's going to break something. Thankfully for him, he 'accidentally' eavesdropped in on some of his Uncle's superiors. They mentioned something about Charlie, a woman named Chun-Li, and Guile doing an important drug bust/detective work out in a secluded area in Brazil. Sounds fun, but he's knows better than to go alone.
"Krähe, I barely get enough sleep as it is, yet you made me change into my gear this early, and for what? Where could you possibly be dragging me this time?"
"Don't worry about it. I just want to see what's got Uncle Bill and Charlie in a bunch. That's all."
"So, you plan on stealing a helicopter to spy on your Uncle, and intrude on a mission that has nothing to do with us? Possibly making things worse for everybody?"
"I prefer the term 'Extra Back-Up', but yeah....you in or are you going to be a coward about this?"
"Tsch, fine. I'm piloting. You still can't land properly."
"I can land! It's just...a little...rough."
"Crash. What you do is crash."
"...Same thing..."
Thanks to Crow having a hunch last time his Uncle left the base, they had a tracker to follow to their destination. As they were approaching closer, they encountered another helicopter seemingly heading in the same direction. Getting a bad feeling from it, the two decided it would be best to follow it. Making sure they wouldn't be spotted in the process. Once they were practically on top of where the tracker was guiding them, the other helicopter started to fire at something on the ground...where Guile, Chun-Li, and Charlie were. Realizing that it was aiming for them, the duo started to fire back, sending the attacker crashing into the waves below. Once that was taken care of, the two of them landed on the cliff near where everyone was. As they were jumping out, they noticed Charlie was confronting a man in a red uniform. Charlie, unfortunately, seemed wounded.
Before they could ask any questions, Charlie seemingly sacrificed himself while trying to take out the red uniformed man. Taking half of the cliff with him as well. Guile attempted to reach out and save him, but was too late. With his Uncle visibly shaken, Crow goes over to try and console him. Taking him into a hug, which he seems to collapse into. Everyone is in stunned silence. It's stays like this for a while.
Once everyone has taken a chance to compose themselves, Crow explains why they came, which in turns prompts Chun-Li to 'partially' explain what their mission was. Apparently the red uniformed man, M. Bison, had inside drug dealers within their force. Charlie insisted on stopping them at their source. As an attempt to apologize for not getting here sooner, Crow and Holger offer to give the two a ride home, to which they agreed. It was a long, silent ride back. Guile did nothing but stare at the the dogtags from his lost friend in his hands.
It's been a about a week since that all happened. Guile hasn't been the same since. Next week Crow, Holger and their unit have there re-con mission. However, Guile wanted to see Crow after training today. The look on Guile's face when he entered the office, was grim. Crow was in utter awe at the words that came out of his Uncle's mouth.
"Pack up your things, you're going home."
"...What? Uncle Bill, is this some kinda joke? It's not very funny."
"I'm serious. Things are...intense lately. I don't...I don't want to risk you getting severely hurt. Please...just, don't fight me on this..."
"...Fine. Ya know what, fine. I'll leave, but don't expect me to forgive your choice on this. I don't think it's right. You're making a huge mistake."
"...I know."
Angry, not too unlike the first time Holger sent him to the infirmary, Crow rushes to his room. He feels hurt and betrayed, he didn't do anything wrong, well, besides the whole 'intruding on a mission he had nothing to do with' thing. Frustrated, he messily throws his clothes and other belongings into his suitcase. Not that he had much to go through, he was done in mere minutes. Or so he thought, noticing one last item he almost forgot to pack. The dark vest that Holger gifted to him. There was no room left in his suitcase, guess he could just wear it out.
Once it's closed, he huffs, and leans over the sloppily put together mess. He's hurting, and he wants to cry it out. There was so much he had planned...He wanted to help the unit anyway he could, everything he did so far didn't feel like enough. He's come so far...if he could only stay for one more mission and prove that he'd be fine, then maybe...
"Krähe. Is it true? Are you...leaving?"
He can't believe he forgot about telling Holger goodbye. It hurt too much to think about and he already had so much to deal with. They had plans for when they got done serving, plans to do things together. He didn't want to leave this way.
"...Not...by my own accord, but...yeah, I am. Uncle Bill's worried about me. I think it's because of what happened with Charlie...he's worried I'll...mess up."
"...I...see. That's unfortunate...I'm sorry to...to see you leave. We worked so well together."
"I know. I...I wish I could stay too. I was so ready for that recon mission..."
"ReCons are usually pretty boring, but I appreciate your passion for it all."
"Thanks. I'll try my best to keep in touch when I'm gone. Letters and whatnot. I hope when you finally get out of here we can meet up for lunch or...something. I...I wish you the best in the meantime."
"That's sounds...like a good plan. I hope you find something to keep yourself busy out there. I know how you get when you wait around and get bored..."
Holger looks down for moment, he's thinking about something. The next moment he nervously opens his arms for hug, and giving Crow a quick questioning glance. Crow accepts his hug right away. It was a bit awkward at first, but they eventually rest into each others arms. Breaking away just before the hurt of saying goodbye was too much.
As Crow leaves for the door, he feels his heart tear into pieces. Leaving this all behind him is killing him. He grasps his dogtags, and tugs them off his neck. His real first name is scratched out, no one really needs to know that one. He's Crow, and that's who he'll always be. After thinking for a moment, he tosses them to Holger.
"I guess I won't be needing these anymore. Consider them a good luck charm."
"...I'll be sure to keep them close. Auf Wiedersehen...Krähe."
"...I don't believe in saying goodbye in a place like this, it's bad luck. I'll be seeing you soon, Holger."

Not In The Face
Who wants to fight? Or...well, get beat up...
Phase 1: Part 3
Word Count: (About) 750
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
After that delightful conversation, Crow was sent down to a training area. Waiting for him was a group of eight men, all in army green tanks and jumpsuits, most of which were tied down by their waist, and...Holger, still in his blue uniform from earlier.
"Doesn't the army have, like, training dummies to be used for stuff like this? I don't think you'd be able to take me if I don't hold back."
"It's much easier to gauge skill level this way, and besides, I honestly doubt you'd be able to land a single hit, so I'm not worried about that. Get ready."
"Oh man, I'm gunna enjoy making you eat those words."
Holger wastes no time testing Crow. He's far more precise then Charlie was. He thinks several steps ahead, meanwhile Crow doesn't think, he only hits. Any time Crow would go for a swing, Holger would not only dodge it, but counter it and follow through, in a way that really hurts. Crow wouldn't stop though, every time he got knocked down he'd be right back up again, but his emotions are starting to take control. He's getting angry. Holger sees this, and takes note, seeing how he keeps getting sloppier each time he gets up. He's impressed at how he refuses to stay down though, most people usually give up after the 5th knock down. Not that they had much of a choice...
After about the 8th knock down, Crow is visibly struggling to get up. Holger decided to wait and see if he has it in him to get up once more. Slowly, bringing himself to his elbows, Crow punches the ground out of frustration.
"What the hell!? How the hell!? ARRGH! Damn you!"
"..."
"What?! Don't have anything to add this time?! No wise advice about avoiding conflict!? No 'criticism' of yours!? Fuck you if you think I'm finished! I'll put you in the fucking ground!"
"You let your emotions get the best of you. You let them overtake you. Like I said before, you're unfocused. You need to try and steady yourself before you can even think about landing a punch on me."
"...Steady this, asshole."
Crow, with the last bit of his strength, pushes himself to his feet and swings a right hook towards Holger...which was easily dodged. Instead of following through with a counter this time, he just let the exhausted man fall to the ground. With a slight disappointed look in his eyes and a sigh, he picks Crow up and takes him to the infirmary.
Later as Crow is recovering, Guile decides to see how things went, even though it seems kinda self-explanatory. He sees Holger leaning on the room's door, lost in though. No doubt he's waiting for Crow to wake and discuss his tactics. Something else seems to be bugging him though.
"I know I said I wanted you to help him, I just didn't think that would include a visit to the infirmary. You really did a number on him."
"...Not really, he did himself in. He got worked up and got sloppy. I only ever countered his moves."
"You seem...disappointed by your win."
"I simply don't feel as though I earned it. It almost didn't seem fair. He was crippled by his own emotions, and lost all control. I feel that if he controlled them a bit better, he would of had more of a chance at winning. I do have to admire his relentlessness though, he never once gave up. I believe he would of kept going if his body would of let him."
"...He never did know when to stop, he'll push himself to near death if he thinks he's in the right. Do you...do you think he's worth all this effort? Trying to convince him to stay, that is. He's stubborn, I know, but he's got heart and power, I think he'd be one hell of a helping hand to your unit if we can get him in the right headspace."
"It won't be an easy task."
"But you're up for a challenge?"
"Hmph, I believe he's at least earned a second chance. Even if it may take some extra effort on my part."
"You sure it's not just because you had a little too much fun fighting him last time?"
"...I-"
The door Holger was leaning on suddenly shook, as if something was banging on the other side. Something was, of course. Crow finally woke up and wasn't happy. The two blonde men could hear shouting and yelling coming from inside. As Holger moved out of the way from the door, Crow kicked it open. With rage in his eyes, he pointed to Holger and got real up close to his face.
"You. Me. Rematch. Tonight."
"No."
"...Tomorrow night?"
"Fine."

The Fun Begins...
So, I attempted to re-vamp my old S/I's story from like a year or so ago. It turned into more of a fic, and I originally had it broken up into 3 parts. Part one got way too long, so I"m gunna break up the parts into parts.
Phase 1: Part 1
Word Count: (About) 920
1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9
Prologue: It's the late 80's and Crow is a vigilante, with magic. Specifically shadowmancy, and he has some combat skill training under his belt. They have a lot to learn, in both attitude and skill, and they've been through a lot, both good and bad. They've seem to have hit a rut as of late, and need a good change of pace and scenery. Being stuck in the same old town, doing the same old stuff for people who don't even care, is kinda driving him crazy. One day he receives a letter from his Uncle Bill, he asks him to come and visit him at the Air Force base he works at, and wants him to consider joining.
Army Days (Pre-D.Dark): It's safe to say he took that offer from his Uncle. When he gets there he isn't greeted by...anybody, kinda thought his Uncle would meet him there, but I guess he can give himself a tour of the place.
He finds himself in what looks to be the Mess Hall. Tons of uniformed people, and people in army green tank tops, all talking amongst themselves and enjoying lunch. Here's Crow, sticking out like a sore thumb in his shiny leather jacket. It didn't take long for someone to notice and confront him.
"Excuse, do you have permission to be in here?"
A tall blonde man in glasses, and an orange flak jacket tapped his shoulder.
"Ey, you ain't a cop, I don't have to tell you a damn thing."
"...Okay, well, until you give me a good reason as to why you should stay, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
"Ha! Or what four-eyes? You gunna make me leave? I'd love to see you try."
At this point a crowd seemed to have gathered around the two of them as they argued. They all seemed to know the tall man, and mumbled between themselves something about 'Charlie is going to kick his ass...' Like Hell Crow's going let some loser named 'Charlie' win in a fight against him.
"You...really want to pick a fight? Fine then. Lets go. I've been meaning to brush up on my skills a bit, not that you'll last long enough for me to really show off."
"Depends on if I want to play nice or not. I might want to put on a good show first. Keep the audience entertained and such."
The fight starts and goes on to cause massive amounts of property damage, but it's all worth it to hear how excited the crowd was getting. They both seemed equally skilled, at least, for now. Crow managed to hold his own for far longer than Charlie thought he would, maybe it was time to step up his game and not hold back. Things took a turn when Crow decided to 'spice things up a bit'. Attempting to use one of the tables as a place to get some height against his opponent, he slipped on one of the trays that was left by an onlooker. Charlie sees his chance to deliver his finishing blow, but before he makes contact, someone grabs his wrist.
"I should of known the first thing you'd do when you got here, would be to cause a scene."
Uncle Bill with the save. Crow shoots him a pouty look as he comes to terms with his almost loss.
"You know this punk, Guile?"
"Yeah...this cocky troublemaker, is my nephew. I was expecting him, figured he could put his skills to good use here."
"Heh, needs some discipline if he's going to last here. Otherwise he'll be heading home by dawn."
"Trust me Charlie...I know."
Trying his best to ignore the condemning words thrown out just now, Crow picks himself up from the floor. Watching as the crowd disperses, he checks his body for any serious damage done to it. It's mostly just bruises. Guile motions for Crow to follow him outside, to which he does.
"You know, you could of just waited for me. I would of given you a tour, one where you most likely wouldn't of ended up on the floor at the end of it. You didn't have to go off and pick a fight with one of my superiors, making a fool of yourself. Not to mention how badly you could of gotten hurt."
"Superior, huh? Go big or go home I guess. I got too bored waiting around for ya, you know I hate waiting. Plus, I think I held my own pretty well for a while there. That being said...I do appreciate the save though...thanks."
"I just wanted to get some things together at the last minute. I wanted to make sure you'd at least consider joining us around here and not just visiting. Not sure how much that'll help now..."
"Pffft, are you kidding me? I haven't had a decent fight like that in a while! I wanna see who else I can take here!"
"I admire your energy, but no. You will not be doing that. I'm going to show you to the room you'll be staying in for now, and you will head straight to my office tomorrow morning. Then we'll go from there."
"Hmph, fine....I'll make a deal with you, if you can find someone who can actually put up with me and earn my respect, I'll consider staying. Keep in mind though, I plan on putting whoever you put in charge of me through Hell and back, so make sure they are at least fun to mess with."
"Ha! You're on little bird. I think I know just the person...."

Strange Scars
Holger tries to mend things with Crow, which ends up revealing another secret. Feelings start to rear their ugly head in someone's late night thoughts...
Phase 1: Part 8

The room is quite and cold. Holger's alone once with his thoughts once again. He's been...off lately, and he knows it. He's hoping it doesn't show much though. Crow is the last person he needs to realize. He tells him constantly to keep his emotions in check, but here he is exploding out of nowhere with frustration. At Crow himself no less! It makes him feel almost sick. The last thing he wants is to hurt his...friend. Yeah, friend. Why does he feel so bad about confronting him? He was right on some accounts, but it almost doesn't feel worth it.
Doesn't help that 'Crow' has been the only thing on his mind for the last couple of months either. When he's not with him, that's the only person he can think about. When he is with him, he's the only one he can think about. He's getting quite annoyed that he can't focus his thoughts like he used to. Sure, Crow and him are close, he's the closest person he's been to since he started serving here, Guile's a close second, but this...this feels different. Maybe apologizing to him might make things better. After all, this could just be guilt weighting down on him. Yeah, that's what it is...guilt.
The army showers aren't the most ideal place for Crow to take a shower, but there's not much choice here. There's little to no privacy, so he has to take his chances when the coast is clear. Thankfully, this time they seem to be empty.
Still on edge, and being cautious, he takes cover behind some lockers to strip down. He goes to the shower head closest to the corner, it'll be easier for him to hide that way if need be. The water feels nice, it's just what he needed after his yelling match with Holger. Even if he did have some...decent points. It hurt. It hurt to hear Holger question his trust like that, he would never do anything to outright sabotage him. He should just apologize to him and get it over with, he'd rather not have the only friend he's got here to be angry with him...
"Krähe? Do you...have a moment to talk?"
That's the last person Crow wanted to show up here. Well, anybody really, but Holger's near the top of that list. In a panic, he quickly shuts off the shower head, and looks for a towel. Making a huge watery mess as he does. Thankfully, there's a few on one of the benches. He quickly wraps it around his waist before Holger turns the corner past the lockers.
"Ah, ye-yeah, hey. I'm, uh, not dressed man, can you wait a few?"
"You act like I don't take showers here all the time with all the others. I'm sure you can't be worse than them."
Once Holger was able to get a good look at Crow, he noticed how shaken up he was. Did something...happen? There wasn't anybody else there but them...
"Krähe, are you...alright?"
"Besides the breach in privacy, I'm just fine. Thank you very much."
"Are you sure, you seem...shaken. You made such a mess..."
"I'm fine, I was just...lost in thought...you just spooked me a little, that's all. What was it that you wanted to talk to me about, and why can't it wait till I'm clothed?"
"Oh, I'm not stopping you from getting dressed, feel free to. I just...wanted to apologize for the way I addressed you earlier. I...haven't quite been myself lately and...I just thought we were close enough that...you'd trust me with something like that. I was hurt, and I'm sorry."
"Holger...we are that close. That's why I didn't tell you at first, I was worried how you were going to react. Thinking about it now I can see how stupid it was to think like that. I'm sorry too. I...uhm..."
"Yes, Krähe?"
"I do...have another secret. I'm willing to tell you...if you want that is...and promise not to spread it around cause this one might actually get me sent back home."
"...While that is...tempting...I don't want you telling me something like that just as a way to 'make up' for things."
"No...it's not like that. It might actually help me out right now if I tell you."
"...Alright then. Go on."
"Okay, so, you see these scars on my chest?"
"...Yes...must of been in one nasty fight."
"Pfft, aw that's cute. Nah, nah, nah, A doc gave me these."
"...A doctor? Why would a doctor give you odd chest scars?"
"Well, I kinda payed him to. I, uh...I'm trans, Holger."
"Oh...Oh! That explains why you were...uh...uncomfortable about...I see."
With a slight flush a color running to his cheeks, Holger tries to look anywhere but at Crow. Crow, who's trying his best to hide his laughter takes a glance at the clock. It's getting close to the end of combat training for Unit B, they'll be coming in to take showers soon.
"Uh, yeah. It's why I take my showers at strange times too. I don't think most of the others would be to thrilled about me if they found out, Uncle Bill seemed to agree with me too... Speaking of, I think they'll be joining us soon, do you think you could be my look out while I get dressed? I'm usually done by now, but-"
"Of course. Don't worry about."
As the days go by, that fight they had seems nothing but a memory. No mentions of lack of trust, or hiding things are brought up again. Even when they were both forced to double down on their training due to the performance of their last mission, they still kept each other's spirits up the best they could. Not like the training did much, the only thing it managed to change was Crow's goal for the next mission. He's going for no sprained ankles this time.
It's safe to say they have been getting closer by the minute. Everyone seems to think there's something more there, but of course, they themselves are blinded to it. Crow's just happy to have someone close to him that trusts him and believes in him. Holger appreciates Crow's company, and thinks he's coming down with the flu whenever his heartbeat starts to pick up thinking about him.
That is until one night when Holger's lying wide awake, with nothing but Crow on his mind. He finally comes to an understanding that the way he feels when he's with him might be something more than what he originally thought. The way he ends up staring at Crow whenever he talks about music, even though he could care less about it. The way he melts whenever he can get Crow to laugh, whether it be intentional or not. The way he can't help but watch Crow practice when he, himself, is supposed to be training. The way...the way he's utterly in love with Crow. Thinking about the ways he falls for him all night isn't going to bode well for his mood tomorrow, but he couldn't think of a better way to spend it...well...maybe there is.
