currently unwell because I'm about to look 2000% too deeply into this stupid ass Ouran episode. I'm reaching Kaorus pumpkin levels of delusion here because I really be overreacting to this simple part but like

this. this is so simple. such a thing that shouldn't stand out but it DOES to me because every single time that the difference between them is brought up its some spectacle. it's them playing their silly little which one of us is which game or somebody telling them straight up they don't know who's who and they have a depressive episode over it but just right here. the question of questions is asked and Kaoru doesn't even hesitate he's just like I'm Kaoru :] and then talks about pumpkins for 10 minutes.

my first impression was that omg... this is Epic... they've grown so much since knowing Tamaki. he doesn't make a big deal out of it because how could this person know when they make little to no effort to discern themselves from each other. instead of shoving this person away for not knowing he just answers the question and talks to him like they're best buddies (<- they are not, mr class president has clearly never seen Cinderella)

but on the flip side. is that quick no thought response just exhaustion??? he answers because it's just faster to get that over with and out of the way after years and years of people not really giving a damn about the difference between them at all???

perhaps it's a mix of both. Kaoru himself says they're contradictory and they want to be told apart but also don't. so what's it. what's ithuh

but then I started thinking. is it primarily Hikaru who gets defensive about not being able to be told apart from his brother. obviously Kaoru feels similar but given that he seems to be so self aware about his and Hika's contradictory ideology then maybe he's grown from being so defensive about it but how long has that been the case. does Hikaru ignite feelings like that in him because of the fact that Kaoru hates when Hikaru feels so down. how many questions does this spark? too many

I feel like the best variation of Hikakao is Hikaru being a dominant bottom and Kaoru being a submissive top.

I have always liked the idea of Kaoru being a service top since his whole thing is doing everything for his brotherrr so ofc he'd be like anything you ask of me I'll do 🩷🩷

Any headcanons for the omega twins in heat?

oh man. take Hikaru calling Kaoru a sex pixie, apply it to both of them, and then enhance that by 100 times.

but besides the horny bangs, i imagine Hikaru is much more emotional during heat, both because he's frustrated as hell because he's uh... frustrated, if that makes any sense. but also because he's just more vulnerable and clingy and so he might be more prone to crying.

Kaoru is similar, but he's the one trying desperately to make sure Hikaru is satisfied, happy, etc so he's keeping it to himself.

depending on the omegaverse rules of biology you want to use(I know them pretty well unfortunately) then you might have the option where omegas heat can't be satiated without an alpha. which is so sad for them. or we could not do that and they get to be happy after a fuck and then get back to it later

and then the idea of soulmates au bc it's always finding your soulmate with the same mark/tattoo as you and I've never really been into that type of universe but in hikakaos case I love the rollercoaster of emotions between them having the matching mark. when they're little it's like duh of course! but when they're in middle school it's about hiding it because erm.... maybe not of course. and in high school they still hide it but have their incest shtick somehow because of the way it is??? idk I think I read a fic abt this actually it was good

I'm completely derailed from the original ask now but I just love the concept of Hikaru and Kaoru being soulmates in general because soulmates can mean anything really and it's all encompassing which is exactly what their relationship is. they're family, theyre brothers, they're twins, they're lovers, their relationship can't be described by a single term but to be soulmates,,, to be destined to find and love each other in any universe despite any circumstance. love that shit
