Tapi kalau di liat dari samping kaya lagi nyium padahal engga." Tapi kabar salah (baca : fitnah) itu terlanjur menyebar, akibat mulut le-mes dan nyali cetek. Bicara sana-sini tentang aib orang lain sedangkan tabayyun langsung tak dilakukan. Kalau pun andaikata itu benar terjadi dan akhirnya kita mengetahui aib orang lain, maka berhati-hatilah dengan aib orang lain, kawan... berhati-hatilah membicarakan dan menertawakan berita miring atau kemaksiatan orang lain, bisa jadi satu waktu kita diuji dengan hal serupa, dan belum tentu kita bisa lolos. Study details why 2D molybdenum disulfide formation gets a speed boost from salt

Skipping ahead in a line is rude, but sometimes it's acceptable. Especially for salt.

The Rice University lab of materials theorist Boris Yakobson shows why in its follow-up to a 2018 study that demonstrated how salt simplifies the formation of valuable 2D molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) with a first-principles analysis of the process that could refine it even further.

The theoretical study by Yakobson and colleagues Jincheng Lei, Yu Xie and Alex Kutana, all alumni of his lab, and researcher Ksenia Bets shows through the simulation of atom-level energies why salt—particularly iodized salt—lowers the reaction temperature in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) furnace necessary to form MoS2.

It does so by helping to skip some steps and leap high energy barriers in conventional CVD growth to yield far more MoS6, an essential precursor to 2D MoS2.

Excitons form superfluid in certain 2D combos

Researchers find 'paradox' in ground-state bilayers

Mixing and matching computational models of 2D materials led scientists at Rice University to the realization that excitons -- quasiparticles that exist when electrons and holes briefly bind -- can be manipulated in new and useful ways.

The researchers identified a small set of 2D compounds with similar atomic lattice dimensions that, when placed together, would allow excitons to form spontaneously. Generally, excitons happen when energy from light or electricity boosts electrons and holes into a higher state.

But in a few of the combinations predicted by Rice materials theorist Boris Yakobson and his team, excitons were observed stabilizing at the materials' ground state. According to their determination, these excitons at their lowest energy state could condense into a superfluidlike phase. The discovery shows promise for electronic, spintronic and quantum computing applications.

"The very word 'exciton' means that electrons and holes 'jump up' into a higher energy," Yakobson said. "All cold systems sit in their lowest-possible energy states, so no excitons are present. But we found a realization of what seems a paradox as conceived by Nevill Mott 60 years ago: a material system where excitons can form and exist in the ground state."

The open-access study by Yakobson, graduate student Sunny Gupta and research scientist Alex Kutana, all of Rice's Brown School of Engineering, appears in Nature Communications.
