when do you see a blasian idol debuting in Kpop?

I’m not sure if you wanted me to read on this or just my personal opinion, but I don’t see it happening in the next few years. If they do, highly doubt they’ll be under a big company or anything either. Besides Lee Michelle, we haven’t even heard of any blasian trainees.

I think they’re a good money making opportunity. Unless black people suddenly become super trendy in cool in Korea I just don’t see it happening w blasians. People loooove the fact that wasian idols are white (even ifans) and companies would be hyper aware of this. Vernon from Seventeen was pushed into the “L-TOP-Siwan” trio of visuals as soon as he debuted at age 17. They was not playing about the first wasian boy to debut lol

I just don’t see that happening with blasians any time soon considering how much anti blackness we see from over there (and from ifans too btw) and if you pay attention, it’s very obvious half of wasian idols popularity and fame comes from the fact that they’re half white. I remember Nancy from Momoland dyed her hair blonde and wore blue contacts for Halloween and people were gushing about her being “more beautiful than ever” just because she played up her whiteness.

Same applies to Somi, she’s had her hair blonde for like 3-4 years straight now and always tries to show off how light her eyes are in photos. Even some of the plastic surgery she’s had done recently has resulted in her looking more caucasian, which would have been the intention in the first place (whether she consciously knows this or not, but I think she does especially knowing how close she is to her father & how much of a showbiz parent he is. i wouldn’t be shocked if he let her know that’s the edge she has over other Korean girls). Her hair has even fallen out pretty badly from trying to stay blonde all the time but she doesn’t seem to care. She’s more popular and loved than ever though.

Last example I can think of is Kyla from Pristin, I know her story is pretty sad (until she decided to go out racist lol) but if we’re being honest. She was one of the least talented idols to come out of that industry, she couldn’t dance or sing or rap at all. I know many cant, but it makes you really wonder why they debuted her in the first place.

Anyways, I just asked and yes i think a blasian idol could debut soon but when I asked if they’d be under a big company that was pretty inconclusive. I guess it’s up in the air.
