December Updates & Announcements
Hi, everyone! December is next week, if you can believe it! In light of this year coming to a close and things starting to wind down/fall into a routine in my personal life so far, I wanted to provide you all with some updates and exciting announcements about what you can expect from my blog and I heading into 2024!
DINCEMBER 2023
Dincember is coming back for our 4th annual year! I'm so excited to share more writing (and, from others, art and more!) with all of you and to continue this lovely tradition of ours.
To find the prompts, tag, and my own contributions, you can head to this post! We start next week, on December 1st!
UPCOMING WRITING PROJECTS
I have a few things in the works heading into 2024 that I'm super excited to share with all of you! Here's a few that I'm ready to reveal:
I'm doing a Catalyst rewrite! I'm so excited about this one! I'm drawing upon my unfinished series entitled Catalyst and also taking inspiration from Pedro's wonderful performance in TLOU to create a new version of the story entitled Scattered Stars. It features a brand-new OC named Kyla Tiigan, a 14-year-old girl with a backstory you'll never see coming. I'm currently working on the first chapter and I can't wait to share it with you!
As per usual, I'll be writing at least two Security interludes as we wait for season 4! The Djarin family left off in a very happy place going into season 4, and I can't wait to show you how they continue to enjoy their home on Nevarro - and what their future may look like.
I have two new micro-series planned, both based off of Din's new position in the New Republic! Both are enemies-to-lovers, one a senator and one an X-wing pilot, though they're still mostly at the planning stage with no names set yet. I'm hoping to debut the first pieces of those after Scattered Stars!
MASTERLIST REDESIGN
I'm going to be redesigning my masterlist soon, as I've finally hit my 100-link limit! What I'm likely going to do is split my masterlist into their respective categories, with links to those separate masterlists. For example, there will be one dedicated to just Din one-shots, one to my series, and so on and so forth. One those fill up, I'll specify reader-inserts, OCs, and more. Be on the lookout for this change in the coming weeks!
PERSONAL LIFE UPDATE
Something I wanted to share with you all as the reason why I haven't been as active is because I got a job promotion! I've gone from a senior writer to an editor of the Star Wars beat at Screen Rant. I couldn't be more grateful for this change, and I absolutely adore the work I do. Now, I still get to write, but I have more freedom to write the ideas I want - hence why just about every Din Djarin article from the site as of late has been written by me! I have to thank you all for supporting me, because it was this blog that helped me to find such a niche and practice fandom writing in the first place.
Those are all the updates and announcements I have for now! I'm looking forward to finishing out the year with you and beginning yet another one as I prepare to celebrate 4 years of this blog in January!

My wishlist & ideas for a hypothetical Rune Factory 2 Special:
- Option to choose between a male or female protagonist in first generation. FEMC’s name can be something lame like Kylie or Kyla or Kira idk LMAO
- All the rivals will therefore become bachelors! Yayyy the barrett girls will finally win
- The non-chosen protagonist will show up in the game as an NPC (think, like, pokemon.) They will stay at the Eagle Inn, their gimmick being some sort of mysterious, wandering vagrant who gives the player the ability to change their name (Basically a combination of Lukas and Ivan from RF1, and Mistress Trupin from RF4.) They are non-marriageable but, if befriended, the player can get a few hints about their past.
- ALTERNATIVELY: They could be the bartender of a hypothetical bar in town? Multiple characters in game are referred to as drinking buddies and there’s a whole event (the flower festival) that’s seen as an opportunity for people to get drunk, so it honestly kind of confused me there was no bar in Alvarna. I know these are E10+ games but honestly if RF1 had a bar there’s no reason RF2 can’t have one as well lol. It could be like the bar in stardew valley too! have everyone gather there on friday nights for easy gift-giving access, it’s perfect
- Additionally, if Kyle is the non-chosen protagonist, he will marry a bachelorette if her intended husband is already married to the player.
- Not really sure how rival heart events would function in RF2’s system but fuck it, any candidate with a rival will have heart events with said rival. For the drama
- We don’t need to lock EVERYTHING behind the second gen wall. At least let us forge weapons or brew medicine in the first gen. Maybe have these be something that the player can unlock if they befriend tanya or natalie? I always make kyle befriend those two so maybe I’m biased LOL
- Alternatively: give the gen 1 player access to a small kitchen, at the very least. Herman is nearly impossible to befriend in the first generation because all of his gifts are cooked dishes and it sucks because if you are ME (insane) you try to befriend everyone in every single playthrough
- Updated gen 2 portraits for most, if not all, of the cast. It’s understandable if older characters like Byron or Gordon look relatively unchanged after the timeskip, but the younger characters should have updated portraits! I think it would be cute if Dorothy’s portrait changed to show her eyes since she’s now a confident nurse, or if Mana and Barrett dressed differently after becoming teachers, or if Roy and Cammy had visibly grown into their awkward teen years. There’s possibilities!!
- Have more characters acknowledge your child as their relative if you marry a member of their family. It’s very cute that Max acknowledges this but I want all characters to express it because its very fun for character building
- I think it should be harder for your child to access the dungeons in the 2nd gen. every character is like “dont go into the dungeons!!!” and then you can just turn around and walk in. i want aaron and aria to do some solid snake shit to get into these dungeons. i need to see cardboard boxes. sunglasses and trenchcoats. perhaps even false identities. lets get silly with it (i fully acknowledge this would be a terrible design decision) (i dont care)
- remove the marriage events from the second generation, they feel so arbitrary compared to gen 1! The themes of second gen are family ties and the solidarity the kids build with each other, so i think friendship and story events should be prioritized instead
- Bring social services to Alvarna because honestly your child is so neglected by both of their parents its tragic (this is a joke) (kind of)

Not a request but I saw your doomed yuri flag has the term non men and I wanted to tell you that term is extremely racist towards indigenous + black people. A lot of POC have asked people to stop using that term as it's racist and often ignores multigendered lesbians. The same applies to the term non women too incase I missed if you said it too.
Here's 2 sources about it
A book about it https://archive.org/details/badfaithantiblac0000gord
Here's a good tumblr from a POC lesbian + a graphic from a book called the biopolitics of feeling by Kyla Sculler

thank you for informing me ! ,, ,, is there any better terms i can use ? if so i will update the flag description

UPDATE - Chapter 2
soft like silk chiffon
Pairing: Reylo (f/f)
Summary
"Hi, I'm-"
"Stop." The girl (Kyla, Rey reminds herself) holds up her hand.
Rey's mouth clicks shut.
"Busy," Kyla says flatly.
Not a good sign.

I started my new job yesterday so things on Tumblr may be a bit slow here and there. More so than usual. STG:L2 will still update twice a week on the same schedule (Wednesday and Sunday)
I have three SFW alphabets coming up!
The Huntress
The Plague
and this one really surprised me

Hi! I really like your work. I recently uploaded a lot of your items to the game. Yesterday in the game I noticed that your candles don't work, they don't shine and there's not even a flame effect. Could you fix them if possible, I really like them. Here are the candles where I found this problem: Sundays - Alchemy Candle L; Sundays - Alchemy Candle M; Sundays - Alchemy Candle S; Sundays - Nord-Ouest Ceramic Candle; Sundays x Raventons - Kyla Candle I; Sundays x Raventons - Kyla Candle II
Hi!
I went in game to check, but all my candles are working perfectly fine. I also asked a couple other people to confirm and it works for them as well.
Make sure your game is updated. It could also be a mod or another override object causing you trouble maybe? I honestly have no clue why it isn't working, I am so sorry!

so i started reading the 2nd series of supernatural romance books by Stacia Stark, this series is about Danica’s sister Evie.
under a cut because this wound up being a bit long
Evie and Danica were separated as children due to a prophecy, and while Danica went with her mom, Evie stayed with the Witches Coven and was magically spelled to their house for her protection, as the house and the Witches magic was most concentrated there.  However, that made her an unsuspecting prisoner for most of her life, spelled to be a homebody who hardly ever left the house or town.
She was able to reconnect with her sister in Danica’s books, but there’s a lot of hurt feelings and trauma from their separation and their mom’s death. However, in the events of Danica’s books, the Witch’s coven was broken due to a betrayer, who burnt down the house and killed half the witches.  This broke the spell on Evie and she was traumatized further by the event and realizing that her own coven had magically spelled her to be a prisoner. They were her only family for twenty years, so she’s very conflicted about the whole thing and pissed off.
Also during the events of Danica’s books, she runs into the local werewolf Alpha who recognizes her as his mate but realizes if he claims her she’ll run, as she’s afraid of being trapped again.  He makes Danica promise to not tell Evie she’s his mate as he doesn’t want her to run, however when Evie does eventually finds out she’s fucking FURIOUS that her own sister lied to her, when she even told her sister that was the one thing that she couldn’t forgive her coven for doing when they spelled her (they had lied for 20 years).
So now in Evie’s series, she’s pissed off at everyone for knowing that she was the werewolf Alpha’s mate and covering for his ass, but she’s being really immature and running from her problems, pouting, and not talking to anyone.
And now her best friend in the whole wide world has gone off to steal a magic sword from the Seelie King for the Unseelie King as part of a bargain they had struck to save Evie’s sister, and left Evie behind because Evie wasn’t talking to anyone including Kyla because Kyla knew about her being the werewolf Alpha’s mate and didn’t say anything.  Kyla couldn’t tell her because she’s a werewolf and that’s her alpha, she can’t go against his orders.
so that’s where book 1 ended and book 2 is picking up from that
So the first series was really good, and the author does a good job of writing Evie realistically because she’s like idk 24 or something.  She’s smart, powerful, kind, and funny, but she’s still young and she’s got a lot of trauma and emotions to work through for all she went through, and she was raised to be a proper witch, not a badass mercenary like her older sister.
so on top of her trauma, she’s got sister issues because her sister is legendary for being a cool badass half demon half witch mercenary, and for a long time she was just a homebody witch.
so she’s working through this, but she’s reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally irritating and immature about the whole thing, and it’s annoying
also the werewolf alpha, Nathaniel, is also kind of annoying in that he does treat her like an immature woman, who he does love, but he infantizes her and wants her to agree with him all time.
idk how to explain this properly, but you can definitely feel the age difference, and sometimes age differences are written really well and they click
this does not click and it’s annoying
but anyway, this is first feelings for book 2 and I’ll post an update once i finish it

round up // APRIL 23
Tumblr media
A selection of words capturing my April pop culture experiences:
Museum
Podcast
Amy Sherman-Palladino
Muppets
Vampire
Nike
American Girl dolls
Read on for everything that brought me joy this month!
April Crowd-Pleasers
Tumblr media
1. Renfield (2023)
Did I write a review of Renfield, an ode to the two Nic(k)s, or analysis of the Great Resignation? Yes, yes, and yes. Read whatever, in fact, I wrote at ZekeFilm. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7/10
youtube
2. SNL Round Up
Whether they’re spoofing my childhood toys, my young adulthood wedding commitments, or my love for the Jonas Brothers, the crew in Studio 8H has been keeping me laughing this Spring.
“Southwest Airlines Announcement” (4811 with Michael B. Jordan)
“The Big Hollywood Quiz” (4812 with Pedro Pascal) - A great example of how no one watches the same things anymore
“Waking Up” (4812)
“Protective Mom” (4812)
“Lisa From Temecula” (4812)
“American Girl Café” (4814 with Travis Kelce)
“Bridesmaid Cult Documentary” (4816 with Quinta Brunson) - I feel seen
"Weekend Update: Co-Worker Who's Extremely Busy Doing Seemingly Nothing on Returning to the Office” (4817 with Molly Shannon) - I feel attacked
“Sally O'Malley: Jonas Brothers” (4817)
“American Girl Doll Movie Trailer” (4818 with Ana de Armas)
Tumblr media
3. Descanso Gardens
Because I can’t resist a botanical garden! Gardens are becoming a go-to attraction for me on vacations, and the Descanso Gardens in Los Angeles did not disappoint. The day we went was not too crowded but was impressive enough to earn a huge crowd—a hidden gem for LA tourists!
Tumblr media
4. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Panel at PaleyFest
The gardens were lovely, but there were two other attractions that were the real reason for my visit to Los Angeles. The first was PaleyFest to see Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino, and the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! Just before the fifth and final season started on Amazon Prime, we heard Alex Borstein and Rachel Brosnahan share their mourning process for the show’s ending, Caroline Aaron and Michael Zegen reflect on what these roles have meant to them, and Tony Shalhoub crack up the crowd. (And who knew I would be so starstruck by him? When he came on stage I wanted to scream, “YOU WERE SO GOOD IN GALAXY QUEST!”) Check out SO IT’S A SHOW’s Instagram for more highlights from when my podcast co-host Kyla and I visited the Dolby Theatre (home of the Oscars!).
youtube
4. John Mulaney: Baby J (2023)
A full year ago I saw John Mulaney on his From Scratch tour, and now you can enjoy the set at home. His joke about not being interested in science “from magnets to ducks” did not make the cut (and alas now I can’t remember the setup for that punchline), but the other 90% of a show that made me laugh so hard I cried is preserved forever.
Tumblr media
5. The Muppets. (2015-16)
Why did this gem only last 16 episodes? In this one-season single-cam sitcom, the Muppets are working on Late Night with Miss Piggy, a setting that could’ve produced comedy gold for years. With the frazzled Kermit producing, the Electric Mayhem as the in-studio band, and celebrity guests through the felt nose, I’m glad I checked out these 16 eps even though they ended on a cliffhanger. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like for Miss Piggy to date Josh Groban or to hold grudges against every blonde actress in Hollywood, you won’t want to miss it either.
Tumblr media
7. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. (2023)
Special in the way that the best coming-of-age movies are. I suspect Margaret’s insecurities about boys, bras, and besties will feel relatable to Gens Z and Alpha if for no other reason than this movie’s depiction felt scarily accurate to my own experience in the mid-2000s. I promise I will never start a review with the story of my first period ever again! At least, probably—at the rate we're going, it will never be apropos again. Read the full review at ZekeFilm. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 9/10
April Critic Picks
Tumblr media
1. AIR (2023)
Is it controversial to say Matt and Ben’s collabs only get better? If we're playing Greatest/Best/Favorite, this might be my new ranking:
Greatest: Good Will Hunting
Best: The Last Duel
Favorite: AIR
Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 9.5/10 // Critic: 9/10
Tumblr media
2. The Academy Museum
The other reason I went out to Los Angeles: After years of pandemic-caused delays, I finally made it to the Academy Museum! Six floors of movie and Oscars history and memorabilia? You know I’m in my happy place, but casual movie fans will find something for them, too. Some of my favorite exhibits included the several-stories high Mount Rushmore backdrop used in North by Northwest, the gallery that used The Godfather to show each element of filmmaking, and the pianos from Casablanca. Fanny’s (named for Barbra Streisand’s character in Funny Girl) serves exceptional museum food, and I learned about deep cut filmmakers and movements I was only vaguely familiar with before I went. I’d give the Academy a gold statue for museum execution if I could!
Tumblr media
3. Good Reads
A miscellaneous round up of good stuff I’ve read lately…
Final thoughts on 2022 Awards Season:
“How Avatar: The Way of Water Can Make $2 Billion and Still Feel Irrelevant,” Vox.com (2023)
“How Did We Let the Golden Globes Back In?” LATimes.com (2022)
Unexpected responses to Cocaine Bear:
“An Attempt to Define the ‘Good for Her’ Cinematic Universe,” Vulture.com (2023)
“The Case for Cocaine Bears,” Slate.com (2023)
Glitches in the Sports Industry Matrix:
“America’s Bad Bet on Expanding Legal Sports Gambling,” Vox.com (2023)
“Will Damar Hamlin’s Injury Change the NFL? Why a Safer Game Could Turn Away Fans,” LATimes.com (2023)
Watching trends that need to be fixed:
“Mumbling Actors, Bad Speakers or Lazy Listeners? Why Everyone is Watching TV With Subtitles On,” TheGuardian.com (2023)
“Television Is Going Exactly the Wrong Direction. I Know the Solution.” Slate.com (2023)
Explorations of our malaise at work:
“How to Care Less About Work,” TheAtlantic.com (2021)
“The Age of the Crisis of Work,” Harpers.org (2023)
All the ways—okay, just some of the way—social media is on the struggle bus right now:
“Why Every App Now Feels Like TikTok, but Worse,” NYMag.com (2023)
“How Elon Musk Turned the Blue Check Mark Into a Scarlet Letter,” Slate.com (2023)
“Commentary: If Twitter Finally Dies, Where Do We Find the Smart People?” LATimes.com (2023)
And even more miscellaneous good reads:
“You’ll Feel Better if You Go Outside,” NewYorker.com (2021)
“The Oral History of Helm’s Deep,” Inverse.com (2022)
“I’ve Had It With Stunt Ice Cream Flavors,” Eater.com (2023)
“Clothes Make the Con Man,” NYTimes.com (2023)
“Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, and the Easter Egg-ification of the Hollywood Feud,” Vox.com (2023)
“Why Are TV Writers So Miserable?” NewYorker.com (2023)
Tumblr media
4. Current Exhibits at the St. Louis Art Museum
My membership to the SLAM always pays off. In April I indulged in two special exhibits:
The Age of Armor, which showcases the history of armor and battle gear with an emphasis on suits of armor. The galleries did a great job explaining how the armor functioned and provided model pieces to try yourself, but you know my favorite part was the Black Panther and Star Wars costumes at the end!
Monet/Mitchell: Painting the French Landscape compares the work of Claude Monet and American expat Joan Mitchell, and it brought me back to my magical trip to Giverny last summer!
Tumblr media
5. The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (1939)
Sumptous costumes and sets, Bette Davis doing the most acting, and Errol Flynn at his handsomest. This Queen Elizabeth I costume drama from Michael Curtiz is maximalist in aesthetic and romantic at its heart. Crowd: 7/10 // Critic: 9/10
Tumblr media
6. Under the Umbrella: A Little Women Podcast (2023-)
Little Women superfans unite! Kate and Kelsey (friends and both teachers) are analyzing the book and film versions from every angle, and if you love the March sisters, Louisa May Alcott, or Greta Gerwig, they are going to be your new best friends.
Tumblr media
7. Just Like Us: The Tabloids That Changed America (2022)
Last spring the Ringer Dish podcast did a deep dive into the ‘00s tabloids and their obsession with Brangelina, Bennifer, and ‘90s child stars gone wild—so basically everything I obsessed over in middle school. Bottom line: They probably didn’t make our world better, but those mags (and emerging online blogs and reality TV) sure tapped into parts of our brains that made them addictive. This eight-episode series challenges any assumption we have about about celebrity gossip being harmless—or frivolous.
Until May’s Round Up…
In spite of the current state of things, I’m still tweeting in denial as @tblake24. Come join me until this platform burns to the ground!
If you want real-time updates on what I’m watching and loving, you can also find me as @tblake24 on Letterboxd.
