Part five - Sun and thunder
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 4k
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Warning: Mention of blood and some bad volleyball description.
This other vacation day is an absolute bliss! No alligators, no chlorine filling your lungs, only the beautiful sun and a hot breeze. On the downside… Kyoya made sure that you had to share your vacations with your guests. This is why you’re in your most revealing bikini you had, you had to entertain your guest in some way and you still had to prove that you could be a better host than Kyoya.
You and Taishiro, one of your newest guests, were playing volleyball against Renge and another boy. Your team was clearly winning because of your past in this sport, five years of volleyball! You weren’t the best, but you were certainly a really good player.
Renge passed the ball over the net and you threw yourself to send it back, but failed miserably. You dropped onto the sand and Taishiro rushed over to you. You had to play your part.
“I’m sorry Taishiro, I missed this one.” You sniffed and he grabbed your hands in his. “No worries y/n! You did so great and it’s only one point, we can make it!” He smiled and so did you. You wrapped your arms around him. “Thank you Taishiro! You’re such a great guy! Isn’t he, ladies?” You turned your head to meet with a crowd of girls fawning over the two of you. Taishiro wanted to be more desirable to the female gaze, so this is the part you’re playing. He is a sweet guy, really, you don’t understand why he would need your help to get girls. He just needed a little boost of confidence, you thought.
You played your role so well that even Kyoya was looking at you– staring at you. The cold death stare as you let your guest help you back on your feet. He gives a feather light kiss to your knuckle without breaking eye contact and you blush. I wink at him as his cue to go see his new groupies and he does just that. They welcome him with sweet words and you laugh on the inside.
That stupid plan did in fact work.
But now, you’re missing a player. You looked around to find a replacement and all of your friends were busy, but your male guests were free. “Hi boys! Can one of you be a darling and play with me?” You wave at them, batting your eyelashes. One of the few boys stood up and dashed to you. “Thank you Asahi, you’re so sweet to play with me.” “It’s my pleasure!” He smiles with all his teeth. Asahi was tall and had long luscious dark brown hair. You’d say he was your type, you like tall pretty boys. “Are you any good at volleyball y/n?” He asks while putting his hair in a bun. “I was captain of my team when I was younger. What about you?” “I wasn’t captain, but I was the ace of my team.” He smirks proudly. “I just hope I can keep up with you, my darling ace.” You wink at him and his entire face becomes red. “I’m taking a break ladies, great match.” Renge’s partner smiles before leaving at once, now we’re back at missing a player all of the sudden. “I’ll replace him.” The deep voice you recognize all too well is heard from behind you and as Kyoya walks past you, he makes sure he bumps into you. Where was he when you needed a teammate?
The referee waits until both teams are ready. Kyoya was your opponent, he was in front of you and he was tall. You’d have to find a way to get through him to win. His gaze on you was intense, cold and determined.
“They can start!” Asahi shouts at the referee. “We’re going to win anyways.” He says to you in a low voice and you smirk. You will win.
For some reason, Renge became great at volleyball in an instant and caught you off guard when she served perfectly between you and Asahi. She was strong and fast… She too, played the game of the helpless girl to get the guy’s attention. Well played Renge, she even fooled you.
The referee’s whistle echoes and the point is theirs. You look over to Asahi and nod, this won’t happen again.
Renge serves again and you stay focused on her face, where she will dare to look. She makes eye contact with you and smirks. Direct hit on you! The ball hits your chest hard and you gasp when it hits you.
“Chance ball, Asahi!” You grunt and he doesn’t let a second be wasted to send it the other way as hard as Renge did, harder even towards Kyoya. He sends it to his teammates and she sends it back to him higher. Another direct hit towards Asahi, this time, and he sends it to you with ease. You smash it right in front of Kyoya and he falls onto his knees trying to retrieve the ball, but fails as it rebounds on the sand.
“Can’t keep up, clownfish?” You laugh.
“I can do this all day, goblin shark.” He spat and your blood boiled inside of you. He stands up and calls over Renge to talk about a quick strategy.
Asahi serves and you smirk as you see Renge struggling to focus on his next move. Asahi is unpredictable and that is to your advantage. The ball is up and when Renge figures the move of your teammate, it’s too late. Kyoya was on his toes and reacted before she could send it up in the air so she had enough time to send it back to your side of the court. It was all in slow motion just like in movies, Kyoya’s eyes met yours and your heart skipped a beat. It was the tension his gaze exudes towards you, the thrill of the competition. The playful smirk upin his face told you that he was enjoying this too. For the first time, he looked like a normal boy of your age and you found him so beautiful. It’s unfortunate he wasn’t like this at all times. But no matter what, you won’t lose to him, ever.
This intense exchange goes on forever until you have had enough and hit it right next to Kyoya’s head. The whistle blows and it’s your point. He doesn’t move and for a second you think you might’ve traumatized the poor guy. But he laughs, truly laughs.
“You’re trying to kill me?” Kyoya says while trying to keep his composure and you laugh too. You looked like two idiots, but you didn’t care, it was the first time you were laughing with Kyoya. You wanted to cherish that moment a little while longer.
“You’re in my way.” You finally say and he snorts as if he was saying ‘yeah right’. Asahi gives you a high five and Kyoya’s jaw tense and his smile leaves his face once again.
Tumblr media
The scores are equal and you won’t let yourself be beaten by Kyoya’s arrogance. You’re growing tired and your body doesn’t want to keep up with what you have in mind. Your opponents can see that and they are playing at their advantage by making you run everywhere. Kyoya hits the volleyball right in front of you, almost out of reach, but you drop in the sand to hit the ball back to Asahi who spikes it directly behind Renge hitting the line made in the sand. Kyoya walks over to you with a smirks on his stupidly handsome face. You were fuming. He crouches next to you still on his side of the field and laughs.
“Don’t be a sore loser, y/n” The whistle is blown and you look over to the referee– it’s in! That's your point!
“Can’t be a sore loser if I’m winning.” You smirked at your turn and stood up to tower Kyoya. “Great job Asahi!” You shout never leaving Kyoya’s gaze. By his expression, he wanted to wipe that evil smirk stained on your face.
Tumblr media
After your sweet victory, you were looking at the sunset with some of your female guests. You were all sitting on a towel you’d put down to enjoy the view. They were nice girls and talked to you about the boys they had a crush on and you listened to them. You’d listen carefully to what they were looking for in a partner and you’d slide in the conversation offering advice. After all, even if they weren’t your friends, you’d still have to be there for them as you are their host.
“Look at what we have here, one girl for each of us.” A deep masculine voice is heard behind you and your head snapped to see who it was. It wasn’t anyone from your school that you’d seen around, they were local boys and the way they were slowly approaching you meant only trouble.
“Leave us alone, this is a private beach and you’re not one of our guests.” You warn the boys who are still  approaching you and your female guests. “I will gladly call the security and they won’t be as nice as I am if you do not leave.” You stood up and put yourself in front of the girls. One of them grabbed your arm and quickly let go of it.
“She said leave them alone!” Haruhi’s voice is heard and it gives time to the girls to leave the rock you were now stuck on. The small brunette had an urchin in her hands ready to throw it.
“Is that your security?” One of them mocks. He grabs onto Haruhi’s shirt and drags her to the edge of the cliff.
“Come on! Stop messing with him.” You tried to yank the guy off of Haruhi, but instead he drops her in the ocean. You loudly gasp before running to the edge ready to jump after her.
“Haruhi!” Tamaki’s scream is heard as he dashes in the water after your friend before you could.
“Looks like it’s only the four of us now.” One of the boys grabs you by your waist and pulls you closer to him. Without thinking your elbow moves and hits him in the groin, hard. It gives you enough time to get away. You can see some security coming up the rock you were on and you felt relieved that the girls alerted someone of our group to call them. Your feet hit a small crevice and you fall down the rest of the way. It was a short fall, but nonetheless it hurts.
“Y/n!” Honey’s high pitched voice echoes in your ears and you see Kyoya dashing towards you before you can even see the small blonde.
“Are you alright?” He asks, cupping your cheeks in his hands and you nod. “Are you hurt?”
“I might have scratched my foot and knees.” You grunt.
“And elbows.” Honey pants. You look at your arms and blood is dripping down them. You guessed your fall was more severe than you thought.
“I’ll bring her to the infirmary.” Mori simply says and picks you up as if you weigh nothing.
“Tamaki’s in the water with Haruhi! Go look for them please.” You begged your friends.
They all ran towards the water as you and Mori left for the infirmary of the beach resort. You saw blood dripping down his chest going downwards and you were afraid it might stain his swim shorts.
“I’ll ask my mother to make you a new pair of swim shorts, I bet you won’t want to go back swimming in them.” You tried your best to apologize and to squirm out of his grip so he wouldn't be covered in blood.
“Don’t worry about it.” He speaks holding you tighter to his chest and you blush silently as he man handles you.
You finally found the infirmary and he sat you down on the office table. The nurse is probably on break because there’s no one in this room and the tall man starts to look inside the drawers to get some rubbing alcohol and bandages.
He kneels in front of you and starts with your feet. He grazed the damaged skin with a cotton ball dipped in the rubbing alcohol. His touch is so gentle and yet you hold on to his shoulder to hold a hiss. He looks up and you can see that he’s worried he might’ve hurt you.
“I’m fine. It’s not everyday I get injured.” You joked and he lightly smiled. He does the same for your knees and your elbows before wrapping every single one of your injuries with swift and gentle movements. “Thanks Mori.” You smile at him and so does he. You kept silent when he was doing his ‘work’, but now you wanted to know. “Why did you volunteer to carry me here and to patch my wounds yourself?”
“You’re my friend. I have to take care of you, just like you would with me.” He softly speaks as he finishes to wrap up your elbow. Your heart melts, he was too sweet to you and deep inside your mind you wished a certain someone would be a little like Mori.
“You’re a bit too heavy for me to carry around.” He chuckles at your joke. “But thank you again, for the help.” It was that simple with him, no argument, no teasing… Just plain simple, you liked that.
“Anytime.” He stood up and towers over you even when you’re sitting on the nurse’s counter. His gaze never left yours and you couldn’t look away from him. “It’s a shame.” He speaks and he’s surprised that these words came out of his own mouth.
“What is?” Your voice is only a whisper.
“That Kyoya can’t admit to himself that you’re pretty.”
“You think I’m pretty?” Your surprise with his words.
“You are.” He softly smiles.
“Wait– What do you mean about Kyoya?” Oh my god– Does he know?
“He should tell you that you’re pretty. You’re engaged.” He says it as if it was nothing. You were shocked.
“You knew?” He nods. “How?” You were frantic, but never raised your voice.
“Mitsukuni and I looked you up before you came into our club. Since you didn’t mention it, it wasn’t our place to do so.” You forgot how powerful their families are! Why didn’t you think about it before?!
“I guess it makes sense.” You hide your face in your hands.
“Are you unhappy with Kyoya?” He asks and you bring yourself to look him in his eyes.
“No– yes? I don’t know.” You scoff and he pats your shoulder. “He’s infuriating most of the time and gets on my nerves, but sometimes, he’s kind and he cares. He made it clear that our relationship will only be for business, no feelings attached.” You explain.
“But what do you want?”
“Love, plain and boring love.” You laugh. “Just like my parents.”
“You’ll find it, your old boring love.” He snorts.
“So will you Mori.” You smile.
Tumblr media
Dinner was… something.
You sat next to Tamaki and you could smell the smoke coming from the blonde’s perfect ears. You guessed something had happened between him and his protégé. Because during this entire time Haruhi has been eating lobster like she hasn’t eaten in days while ignoring Tamaki who was scolding her. Haruhi was having none of it.
“If I wasn’t there to do something, y/n and the other girls would’ve been in so much more trouble!”
“You were being careless!”
“Now’s the time I excuse myself.” Kyoya pushes back his fancy chair and exits the room rather quickly.
“Can we enjoy a dinner together without yelling, please?” You practically begged the two idiots yelling at one another. They weren’t listening to you, it seems none of your other friends were listening to you as well. Honey quickly gave you a shrug that meant ‘at least you tried’ before ravaging his plate with more lobster.
“I hate you!” As soon as the words leave the girl's mouth, Tamaki goes silent and turns back to face his plate. He is pale as if he saw a ghost. Haruhi storms out the dining room and you were hoping that her beloved prince would try to catch up to her, but he stayed silent as she ran away. Oh Tamaki…
The other’s finished their meal and went somewhere in the manor while you stayed with oh so silent Tamaki Suho.
“You don’t have to stay with me.” He is sulking, again, and it makes you sad. Tamaki is supposed to be the cheering type of guy who always puts a smile on people’s faces. It didn’t sit right with you to just leave him alone.
“I think you might need a friend for a ‘talk’ or a hug. Both are at your disposal.” You tried to make a joke, but failed miserably as no familiar smile crept on his lips. “What happened with Haruihi?”
“I told her that going after those boys was reckless and that she wasn’t thinking when she tried to be the hero. She’s too fragile! I don’t want anything to happen to her.” He almost raised his voice out of anger, but kept quiet.
“Haruhi is a lot tougher than you want to admit yourself.” You start and he sighs. “I’m not saying that you don’t have the right to be angry, you do. But she did save our guests' life, god knows what these boys would’ve done.”
“What about you?” He simply says finally looking you in your eyes. “You were left alone with them.”
“I gave the guy a hit he will not forget I think.” You chuckle. “I’m no fighter, Tamaki, but I’m not weak. I would do anything in my power to protect my friends or anyone in need. Haruhi did that to try and save me too.” You add. “It was reckless, but you have to understand that she wouldn’t have stayed there and done nothing. She’s stubborn and reckless, but that’s our Haruhi.”
“She could’ve tried to find me beforehand.”
“Tamaki… You’re trying to act like a father figure to her– hell you call yourself her daddy! But she already has a dad and she needs a friend. You’re acting like someone you think you have to be to get close to her, but you’re not bad when you’re yourself, Tamaki. I think you’re a great guy and I think Haruhi would love that guy too.”
“But she said she hates me.”
“I would’ve said that to you too if you were yelling at me while I’m eating.” You snort and so does he. There he is. “I think you should apologize to her or at least talk about it without yelling.” His soft smile indicates that he understands what you're saying and you gently pat him on the back.
“You mean that? Do you think I’m a great guy?” The purple tint in his eyes felt like it regained joy and you were proud of yourself to be able to cheer him up.
“The day I tell you otherwise is the day pigs will have wings.” He chuckles.
“Thank you.” You give him a quick nudge on his side.
“Walk me to my room? A certain someone’s room is next to mine.” He nods and you both exited the dining room.
Tumblr media
You keep rambling on about the lobster and how great it tasted, but realize that he stopped following you. You look back and he’s in complete shock in front of Kyoya’s open bedroom door. You rush towards him to see what’s got him so confused. You were perplexed as to why your fiancé and Haruhi were sitting next to each other on his bed. Kyoya wasn’t wearing a shirt… The tension between the four of you felt tense. Haruhi, as she meets your gaze, blushes looking away quickly shyly. It wasn’t like her to be like this. Did he tell her? Did they do something they shouldn’t have done?
“Are you all right?” Tamaki asks Haruhi, walking closer to her.
“I’m f—” Kyoya starts.
“He was speaking to Haruhi.” Your words were sharper than a knife. Thunder raged outside as if you’d made it appear with your feelings. How dare he judge you for a televised kiss? But he’s half naked with Haruhi. The rage that you exude from your body was a clear warning for Kyoya to not speak until you ask him to. Tamaki shivers from this side of you and yells at Kyoya how he is not being a gentleman with his girl. Kyoya’s shocked gaze never left yours as he was being scolded by Tamaki. Your jaw clenched as tears welled up your eyes. You were so angry! Angry that Kyoya can’t keep it in his pants. Angry that he wanted Haruhi over his own fiancé. Angry that he lied and broke his promise to you! You turned around and rushed to your room hoping Kyoya would not come after you.
“Y/n–”Kyoya grabs your wrist to spin you around, but you yank off your arm from his grip. He was so fast and so stealthy you didn’t even hear him follow you.
“Don’t touch me!” The tears in your eyes finally slipped. “You’re an absolute asshole! You judged me for kissing Kaoru in a film, but you were probably going to do far worse with Haruhi. You asked for faithfulness and you can’t keep your word. I hate you Kyoya! I hate—” Your face hit his warm, strong chest while one of his hands is gently stroking the back of your head and the other one around your waist, holding you so close and so tight to him.
“Please don’t cry.” He whispers while tilting his head so his cheek wasn’t resting on your head anymore, it was his lips. “Don’t cry because of me, I didn’t  break my promise to you y/n.” The soft skin of his lips made your entire being burn. Was it his heartbeat or your own who was pounding in your ears? “I was changing and she thought it was her room. We just talked about how reckless she was being today.”
“It sounds ridiculous.” You scoff.
“I know…” He sighs. “I swear on Tamaki’s head I didn’t do anything or tried anything.”
“You don’t like Tamaki very much.” A soft giggle escapes your lips as you sniff.
“I do in a very special way, but I swear it on yours then.” He chuckles.
“You don’t like me Kyoya.” You roll your eyes.
“More than you make yourself believe.” He whispers. You try to look up, but Kyoya only holds you tighter as if he was ashamed of what he had just said to you. What did he mean by that? Does he want to try? He probably said it to tease you again or to make you stop crying like a baby.
“You don’t have to pretend to care, Kyoya. No one is watching us.” Disgust was shown on your face, but your fiancé couldn’t see it.
“I know.” He keeps stroking your hair as if he was the one who needed it now. He needed comfort just as much as you did. You finally tighten your grip on him and melt into his body as if it was made for you.
After a while you both let go of each other and bid the other one good night and walked to your respective rooms. You finally rested your head on the silk pillowcase, but couldn’t manage to be a little bit tired. After your intense day, week even, you couldn’t even find sleep. You could only think about that stupid dinner date with your in-laws and what happened to day. What happened with Kyoya… The intimacy you shared with him. You needed to talk to him.
You pulled out your phone and tossed and turned in your bed trying to find the courage to call or text him, until your text tone went off. You quickly check your phone and your heart skipped a beat.
“Do you want to go walk around the estate?” - Kyoya

Part four - We lost Honey!
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 2k
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Hello everyone! Thank you so so much for being a part of this story with me, you are amazing! I only received love and support from you guys and I really appreciate it. Part five will be posted later today and again, thank you for being so patient with me.
You didn’t plan anything on your Saturday evening, you were going to do some homework as well as play some cello. Tamaki decided otherwise… Haruhi wanted to spend some time together as a team and so Tamaki decided it would be great to have some vacation at the Ootori water park… Kyoya told you it was a resort for wellness, but you just thought it was a lame excuse to build a waterpark.
And there you were, in a bikini, reading a book on a lounge chair. Technically you were not disappointed with the place, it’s spacious and very modern, they even have imported trees from around the continents to make the ambiance more tropical. It feels like you’re in a real jungle. Kyoya mentioned a zoo as a part of the resort, you’ll have to visit it before you leave.
Speaking of the devil, you haven’t talked about that kiss last night. It was rushed, passionless and somewhat boring, but you did it for him. You couldn’t bring yourself to explain your action to him or why you did it, you’re not sure of how you could bring it up.
Haruhi, sitting next to you, asked questions about your book, which you gladly answered.
“So hear me out! I’m this magical world, you have humans and faes which are kind of badass for most of them and then there’s this one human girl who slowly falls in love with one of the Lords of the fae realm—” You kept rambling about your book as if it was a personal friend of you who experienced the entirety of the book’s plot. When you were done she smiled at you.
“Would you mind if I borrow it when you’re done with it?” She asks and you nod. It was a copy that you’ve read so many times that the spine cracked and showed white creases. If she damaged it, it wouldn’t bother you as much as if it was a pristine copy.
Splash!
The water was cold on your legs and you yanked your book away. “Come play with us y/n!” Honey and the twins shouted for you to come over, but you were fine where you were.
“Water parks aren’t my thing.” You tell them honestly. Hikaru rolls his eyes and, he and his brother, splashes you one more time resulting in your upper half of your body to get wet, including the book…
They splashed your book? White creases and tears in your books were fine… But drenched in pool water, it was unacceptable! When you looked back at them with death behind your eyes, they shivered in fear.
“You bastards!” You shout throwing the book at them and proceed to jump in the water to fight them. You climb onto Hikaru’s back and make him fall backwards with you. Up to Kaoru… you grab him by the wrist before he swims away and yank him underwater with you. As you both three are dragged by Mori above the surface you shout once more. “You two owe me a new copy!”
“I didn’t know goblin sharks were part of the resort now.” Kyoya snorts behind you.
“Who are you calling goblin shark you stupid clown fish?!” You grab the collar of his shirt and yank him in the water with you.
“You–!” He yells before slashing everyone in the pool. That’ll teach him not to call you a goblin shark!
He gasps for air when his head is above water and gives you the death glare and you can’t help but laugh. He’ll make you pay for it, that is certain! Surprisingly he snorts and pats your head lightly before he pushes it harder so you go underwater once again. When you come back to the surface all of the boys except Honey left the pool, which was your cue to do the same as the others.
“Stop!” Haruhi comes running with a towel and almost shoves you back in the pool. She quickly wraps it around you, she was panting and now everyone was looking at the both of you. “You– Um– You lost your.” She trails off and you look down your chest and notices that your bikini top wasn’t where it’s supposed to be anymore. You turn to Honey and his face is bright red as he holds your bikini in his hands. Oh shit!
“I’m sorry!” Honey almost cries as he tries to swim back to shore to give you back what’s yours, but a big whirring sound is suddenly heard and the water slowly starts moving in the direction of the jungle dragging the blonde boy with the current. In which, the current of the water was now faster.
“Forget about the bikini! Swim Mitsukuni!” You yell over the sound of the water splashing everywhere, but it’s too late… He’s gone. “Kyoya, do something!” You almost begged. You didn’t even know how big this place is and where he might’ve gone.
As he opens his mouth a hissing sound is heard and you pray to god that it was an angry cat. You snap your neck to the side and you see a couple of–
Alligators.
Out of all the animals in the world… Why did it have to be alligators?
Mori grabs both of yours and Haruhi’s arm and yanks you in a gazebo away from the deadly animals.
Tumblr media
You had to turn your back two seconds before Mori and Haruhi left the gazebo as if they were veterans ready to take on those alligators and whatever lies in that jungle. You wanted to bang your head against the wall for the lack of bravery you had and that you wished Mori and Haruhi had! Because you knew they were after the small blonde, they were going to rescue him.
But you, you were all over the place. You were pacing around the place mumbling to yourself and giving death glares at Kyoya. Finally you snapped at him.
“So you didn’t plan to tell us about the new ‘petting zoo’?”
“I told you when we arrived, but you didn’t listen.” He brushes you off and picks out his phone to dial a number.
“You forgot about the ‘alligator’ part of that zoo.” You slowly turned toward your fiancé and pursed your lips. “Because that’s a big deal, isn't it?”
“I said that I already told you.” He grunts.
“You also said it was safe for us, Kyoya.” Your voice grew loud, loud enough for the twins and Tamaki to go on their merry way far away on the gazebo’s pathway to another part of the resort.
“You’re still in shock, would you please calm down? We’re safe here.” You can see his eyes roll and you scoff at his demeanor.
“We lost Mori, Haruhi and Honey! I know this is a stupid waterpark, but there are alligators on the loose thanks to you stupid security system our friends are in danger!” Our friends… Your friends. Were they friends now? Yes they were. You wouldn’t have made a whole fuss about their disappearance if you didn’t care for them.
“My stupid security team? How about you try to calm down– where are you going?” You were already leaving the gazebo to join Haruhi and Mori in the deep jungle. Sitting here arguing with four eyes over there wouldn’t help you. You could outrun a few reptiles… right?
“I’m going to find my friends!” You shout back.
“I’m calling security, just stay here.” His tone was angry, was he angry with you?
“I’m going whether you like it or not!” You were confident you would be able to get through the pool area like Haruhi did before you and not get lost in this huge place. His strong hand grips your wrist to stop you and almost yanks you backwards. You turned your head to face him and he was as pissed as you were.
“I said to wait for backup, they will retrieve our friends.” He was so close. Both of your gazes were challenging the other to see who would give in first and to your surprise, you said quietly giving into his command. “Okay.” Then you regained consciousness and snapped out of his hold on you. “That’s no way to treat a lady!” You punched his arm and he rolled his eyes.
“What do you know about being a lady?” He finally snorted and your blood boiled a little.
“More than you, that’s for sure!”  You truly wanted to feed him to the carnivores down the long stairs of this hellish gazebo.
“Just stay here.” He says calmly. “I’ll deal with it, we’ll find our friends and we’ll go home.” He promised. Kindness sparkles in his eyes and you smile which leaves him confused. “What?” He simply asks.
You wanted to tell him that his kind words soothed you and made you trust him in his ability to find your friends, but all that came out of your mouth was : “You truly look like a clownfish from up close.” He snorts and brushes the top of your head.
“Idiot.” He whispers.
Tumblr media
You finally decide to join the twins and the prince of the Host Club far away from that idiot of a fiancé of yours and notice Kaoru sitting all alone on a bench near the ledge of the wooden bridge you were walking on. It feels odd to see him without his brother, but it’s the opportunity you need. You need to talk to f with either Hikaru or with a guest.him about the kiss now or else he’ll try to evade your question and run off.
“Kaoru?” Your voice is almost a whisper as you reach for him slowly sitting by his side at a respectable distance.
“The one and only.” You could hear the grin in his tone, but he never turned to face you, he only faced the vast space in front of the both of you.
“You can’t keep avoiding me forever. Friends tell each other things, but you keep avoiding my questions when I try to speak with you.”
“We’re not friends, you and I.” These words hurt you deeply.
“Right…” You bite the inner walls of your cheeks because he had you speechless. You were about to confess how you felt about him not wanting to explain himself, but what he said struck you like lightning. He was right, just because you got along didn’t mean you were friends.  “But why did you make a scene by confessing your profound love to me, kissing me and then asking me if Kyoya was watching?” You sounded desperate for an answer. He sighs and finally turns to face you.
“I suspected that you two were engaged, I just wanted to confirm my theory. No one likes when what’s theirs is with another guy.”
“Are you saying that you wanted to see Kyoya jealous over you?”
“Sort of. It’s not every day you get a chance to.” He snorts loudly.
“You didn’t think I had a say before you tried your theory?” In your mind you were livid, but you kept your composure.
“My apologies, but if I had asked you would’ve probably denied it because I’ve heard something going like : ‘ we should pretend to be bachelor and bachelorette.’ It’s not like you tried to hide it at first.” He chuckles. “You were drooling when you first saw him at the club.” He thought he knew everything about the two of you, but he was in the gray area between the truth and his delusion. He thought you were head over heels for Kyoya since the first time you saw him at school, but he was wrong… You were just surprised.
“You wish.” You chuckle. “Look, I want us to be friends, Kaoru. I like you and your brother– not in that way– but I really enjoy your company. If one day you’d want to be my friend, I’d be glad, but in the meantime… Do you want to wait for rescue with me?” He looked around as if waiting for you was a crime and smiled at you, truly.
“Sure.”
You both stayed there in a comfortable silence. You saw three trucks filled with armed guards head inside of the jungle. This felt like a James Bond rescue movie, except that you were the random civilian that was on the side… Which you were glad about! Thanks to Kyoya’s persistence, otherwise you would’ve left your safe spot to go into uncharted territory.
You were so out of it that you hadn’t realized that Tamaki was calling out your name with a hand on your shoulder and Kaoru left the bench you were sitting on.
“I tried to find spare clothes for you everywhere, but since we’re the first ones to be in this place, there’s nothing.” Tamaki sighs. You didn’t even know he disappeared to help you out. “I should’ve brought more clothes so if anything like this happened, I would’ve been prepared to help you out.” Your heart melted at Tamaki’s words and you stood up from your seat to wrap your arms around him. He quickly grabbed onto your towel which was slowly getting loose and hugged you tighter. “Careful!” He gasps as you bury your face in his chest hiding the tears falling down your cheeks.
Tamaki clearly noticed your sadness and gently brushed your hair as you cried silently. This has been too much. This whole thing with Kaoru, the kiss with Kyoya, the Ootori family in its entirety, losing three people who you care about… It was too much to keep inside and you finally let go. Tamaki’s kindness definitely helped to let it all go and it felt so good. It felt so good to have someone, a friend who looked after you even when you didn’t ask for help, that you definitely needed. Tamaki Suoh is really a prince even when we’re not acting at the Host Club.
“Thank you.” You whisper and he chuckles.
“You’re welcome.” He smiles.
“May I speak with y/n?” Kyoya’s deep voice is heard from behind and you quickly wipe your tears away as Tamaki does a check up on you. You nod and he walks away from you and your financé. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine.” You answer truthfully and he smiles. “About Kaoru–”
“He knows that we’re engaged.” He says at the same time as you.
“He knows– What do you mean ‘I know’?” You gasp.
“He told me a week ago.” He’s being nonchalant with that information.
“And you didn’t plan on telling me?” You wanted to punch him so badly.
“It’s way too funny to see you fluster when you try to talk to him and he just ignores you.”
“Now you’re just mean.” You cross your arms and pursed your lips in annoyance.
“My apologies.” He smiles. “While we’re on the subject, about the dinner date–”
“Oh my god! They are safe!” You yell and almost jumped over the ledge as you saw Honey’s blond hair shining through the green leaves. He’s followed by Mori and Haruhi! He waves at you with your bikini still in hands and your face drops. You wished he hadn’t kept it, now this is just embarrassing.
You grab Kyoya’s hand and rush over to them not caring about his question he was going to ask you.
At the end of the day you all went home safe and worn out from your dangerous vacation. As you dropped on your bed, one of the house maids knocked on your door and you let her in. She was holding a medium size box which she handed to you before leaving. You read the note attached to it and laugh, it read : “An apology from the Hitachiin twins and the Ootori family. -Yours truly, Kyoya” Your heart couldn’t help but beat faster at the way the note ended with “yours, truly”. You had to remind yourself that he doesn’t want a romantic relationship whatsoever, he was just being polite. You open the box and your cheeks warm up instantly. It was a special edition of the book you lost to pool water earlier, signed by the author...
It was hard to try to not like Kyoya at that moment.

Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader

Part six -  The Perfect Boyfriend List
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 2k+
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
A/N: I’m so sorry for the long wait and the short part. I have been through a lot these past few months especially with the quarter life crisis. I hope you’ve been all doing great. I promise that the wait will be worth it for the next few parts coming up (spoiler alert: some angst and some sprinkle of spice)
It took ten minutes before you had the guts to get out of the room. You took your sweet time to change into a cute silk pajama your mother made, you brushed your hair and even put perfume on before you left your room. He was waiting for you downstairs and you smiled when you descended the staircase as you saw him lost into a painting.
“Pilgrimage to Cythera, by Jean-Antoine Watteau. 1717. The real one is in Paris, but I have to admit it, it’s a rather convincing replica.” His head snapped to you as you made your way right next to him. “It’s the birthplace of Venus, but the real one has angels flying in the background for love and sensuality of the painting.”
“I didn’t know you were an art expert.” He was rather shocked by your talent.
“You don’t know a lot of things about me, Kyoya.” You smile and so does he. “When I was younger, I traveled a lot with my mother and she took me to the most glorious art galleries and museums you could ever think of. I met some great artists and got to learn more about the making and the philosophy behind art. The irony is that I know too much about paintings and so on, but I can’t draw for the life of me.” You laugh and he chuckles at your confession.
“I could teach you if you’d like.” You look up to your side and he was already looking at you with sparks in his eyes, one you only saw when he was being competitive. “I am no Watteau or Rambrandt, but I manage just fine.”
“I’d love that! In return I could teach you about some history.” You giggle and he breathes loudly, content with your response.
“I’d love nothing more.” He says and in his eyes, it felt like he was surprised by his own words. He suddenly starts walking towards one of the many corridors of the mansion and you follow him to stand by his side.
“Why did you ask for me?”
“To check up on you.”
“Like I told everyone multiple times today, I’m alright.” Your smile was slowly fading. “I’m tougher than I look.”
“Why didn’t you call for my help?”
“I just dealt with Tamaki’s little tantrum about Haruhi being careless and all that blah blah blah, I don’t want to talk about it.”
“I’m not talking about them, I’m talking about you.” You stopped in your tracks and you pinched the bridge of your nose in annoyance.
“I’m fine. It’s not the first time I have to deal with rude assholes.”
“But one of them grabbed you–”
“I said I’m fine, Kyoya.” Now you were pissed off.  “I was trained to fight back those dipshits, I clearly wasn’t at the top of my class, but it helped me fend off my opponents long enough so security could come and get whoever tried to get in my way.” You took a step forward and looked up to meet his gaze. “I’m not afraid, I am not helpless and I am certainly not weak.” Your words were firm. He smirks as he looks down on you, but you see sadness in his eyes. “Are you okay?” He looked out the window and took a deep breath. You took his hand and tried to smile warmly at him.
“I just need real vacations without all the trouble that we always seem to get ourselves into.” He admits and you giggle lightly.
“We could go visit Seoul together for summer vacation. I could show you the best restaurants and secret spots I found over the years.” His smile was finally showing. “We could go just the two of us, so we don't bring all the trouble with us, but just enough so it stays interesting.” He chuckles but still looks in the distance. Thunder and rain still fills the silence in the night. You wonder if it would be a good time to ask him why he’s always shutting you out, why he’s so repulsed by a relationship with you, why he’s so good to you and then becomes a rude person– “Mori told me I was pretty today, even with all the bandages.” You snort and when he turns his head to meet your gaze you look away and start to walk again. “He said that it was a shame you couldn’t tell me I was.” A long deep sigh escape your lips
“Why?” It was quick and sharp.
“Because he knows.” You simply answer. “I had high hopes that you would change your mind about this arranged marriage, but for weeks I’ve been disappointed with mixed signals…”
“Why do you want us to be a couple so much?” He sounded annoyed by your simple answer.
“Wouldn’t it be better?” You said it as if it was obvious. “I thought that you enjoyed my company, my person, enough so that you and I could… maybe make this arrangement a little more real.”
“I can’t give you that, y/n.” He stopped in his tracks and sighs disappointed. “I can’t give you what you want.” Your smile faded and something inside of you broke a little.
“Why not?” It sounded more like a plea. He doesn’t speak, he only gives you a sad look. He can’t even give you a made up excuse for why he doesn’t want to be with you. You swallow your tears and your pride. You straighten your back and become this cold proper persona you’ve always put up in front of everyone. “I see how it is, Kyoya. I apologize for trying to cross the line you put, it won’t happen again.” You walk past him trying to go back to your room, but his hand catches your wrist stopping you next to him. “We made it clear, I won’t ask anything from you other than a business relationship.” Your voice was shaking and you didn’t dare to look at him. “You told me you didn’t want a friendship and to start over but I pushed you and I’m sorry. I will still take part of my bargain and boost your little numbers and keep Haruhi’s secret if you were about to ask… I won’t be a problem to you anymore, I promise.”
“Y/n–” You walked out of his grip and slowly made your way to your bedroom. You hadn’t realized you were crying until a loud sob escaped your lips a few corridors away.
You tried to not make any more sound, keeping the sobs and sniffles inside, but you choke up on your own sadness. Damn it, Kyoya! Damn you! You were so angry and sad, after him, for not wanting you. And after yourself for believing he could ever want a relationship.
A soft creek echoes in the corridor and light shines through the dark. As if you needed any more attention right now…
“Are you okay?” Renge asks and you snort. The question of the hour. “Get in here.” She yanked you inside and made you lay on top of her bed sheet. She sat next to you as if she was your therapist. “What did he do?” “What do you mean?”
“You never cry unless it’s because of four-eyes.” She snorts and so do you. She’s right. You could’ve cried and panicked when you were cornered with dangerous strangers earlier, but you didn’t. But now you’re crying because Kyoya refused you.
“Do you cry in front of people, Renge?” Her ceiling was pearly white, but she put a poster of some video game character above her bed, internally you laughed.
“No, not unless I’m comfortable or I’m too overwhelmed and can’t help it anymore.” She admits as she starts playing with your hair.
“I think I got comfortable with Kyoya.” You let out a soft sob as you came to the realization.
“Is that such a bad thing?” She gestures to your tears.
“No, I’m not crying because of that.” You chuckle lightly. “I messed up.” You start. “We’ve been seeing each other everyday for the past few months and I thought that he started to actually like me, the real me… But I made a fool of myself… I thought we were on the same page, but I was in another library, I think.” Renge gives you a tissue and you dry your tears with it.
“What’s so special about him that you let yourself be comfortable with him?”
“I don’t know. He’s infuriating, aggravating, always trying to prove a point to annoy me… Always getting on my last nerve– But deep down, he’s caring–” You stop yourself. “I like the competition, the bickering and nonetheless I love that we bother each other… I love that he’s there, even if it’s to say something annoying or to hold my hand… He’s there…” You meant every word that you poured out to Renge. It wasn’t love, but it felt like it. You knew it couldn’t be love, true and simple love because Kyoya didn’t want to be yours, not even close as you wanted to be his. “I tried to force him into a real relationship he, oh so clearly, doesn’t want.” You started to cry again.
“No you didn’t.” She sounded almost angry that you were thinking this way.
“I– I just want to be enough for him, you know? I’m enough for his family, his stupid brothers, but I’m not enough for him.”
“You know what I think?” She tells you and you shrug. “Fuck him.” You snort. “Right? Fuck the guy, he’s not interested, fine, but make him regret ever messing with your feelings. You are enough! He clearly can’t see it, but I do. You’re funny, smart, sweet, you have a pretty face and a rather sexy body. You’re talented, hell you speak four languages for Christ sakes! You are awesome and never let anyone tell you otherwise, not even Kyoya. Because he’s the one that doesn’t deserve you.”
“You’re right.”
“I know I am!” She smiles proudly.
“Fuck him and fuck all of this stupid arrangement!” You were feral. You were both laughing like the devil possessed you both. “I make my own stupid choices! I will find a husband that I will see fit for me, not for anyone else.” “That’s my girl!”
“Kyoya will be free of me and will do as he wishes and I’ll be happy.”
“Monday, it will be my personal mission to find someone for you. You won’t have to lift a finger.” You laugh deeply. “How about Asahi?”
“He is cute, isn’t he?” You buried your head in her pillow as you blushed over his tanned body.
“Talk to him tomorrow, maybe you’ll even get some action.”
“Gross.” You were laughing so hard, you were afraid you’d wake up Haruhi, who’s bedroom was next to Renge. “Thank you, Renge.” You smiled at her. “You’re a great friend.”
“That’s what friends are for, lift each other up.” She slumped over you and hugged you with all of her strength and, oh god, was she strong.
You spent the rest of the night together in bed talking about your super plan to get another future husband. The Perfect Boyfriend List had six requirements:
1.  He had to be rich
2. Handsome
3. Kind and generous
4. Funny
5. Obviously interested in you
6. Not be Kyoya
It was going to be easy, right? The list of rich handsome guys at school was long… Excruciatingly long, but not impossible! You and Renge were going to be the perfect team for that.
Tumblr media
After the terrible morning in Renge’s room where you both jolted awake by her alarm at 8 am on a Sunday, you were quietly eating lunch with the other hosts, not bothering to look at he who shall not be named.
“So you and Renge–” Tamaki quietly starts.
“Don’t even start there you pervert.” Tamaki gasps. “I heard about your BDSM with Haruhi, stay out of my business.” A soft smirk appeared on your face when he was lost for words.
“That’s not what was going on!” He retorts. “And I wasn’t insinuating anything! I’m a gentleman! I heard loud crying, then laughter, I was just curious.”
“You were crying?” Mori asks, concern shown in his tone. You look up from your plate seeing him glare at Kyoya.
“We were having a girls night, we would’ve invited Haruhi, but she was busy.” Renge snorts, Haruhi rolls her eyes, but giggles.
“That’s not what happened!” As the two of them kept arguing loudly over breakfast, you felt his intense gaze on you. You didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of looking at him, for him to feel the reassurance in your eyes. He deserved it, the ignorance, but a part of you wanted to look at him.
A distant laugh rings in your ears and you recognize him immediately, Asahi! You stand up quickly to go meet him in the corridor leading to the main entrance.
“Asahi!” You called out and he stopped in his tracks to smile at you.
“Y/n! Hi! How are you?” You finally catch up to him, panting from the sudden rush of adrenaline.
“I’m great, how about you?” You wanted, tried, to act as casually as possible.
“Good! I was about to go on an early swim with some friends, want to tag along?” His smile was so bright and so gentle.
“Maybe later today?” He nods. “Look, yesterday I had a great time at the beach with you as my guest and I think you enjoyed my company a lot too… What I’m saying is that I’d like to go on a date with you.”
“Oh wow! I am super flattered that you asked me out. You’re a great girl and I’d love to hang out after school.” But… “But it’s going to sound shitty, but I don’t like you romantically, I really like Renge.” You gasp in pure shock. When? What? Where? “I’m so sorry!”
“No! Oh God, don’t be sorry at all!” You laugh nervously. “I didn’t know, but I’m glad you told me, I’ll put in a good word for you.” He chuckles. “But I would really like to hang out with you too, as friends obviously.” He nods and you rush back to your table where Renge was already waiting for what you were about to tell her. “He said no.” It was plain and simple.
“That jerk.” She wasn’t happy. Not a great start.
“He likes you.” It sounded less confident than you planned to.
“Even a bigger jerk.” She was pouting.
“You asked someone out?” Kaoru asked, quite interested.
“Yep and got rejected, no hard feelings.” You chuckle nervously. Renge was plotting something in her mind, she’s been quiet on the subject for far too long. “He’ll regret rejecting you.” She mumbled.
“No, Renge, I don’t care I got rejected.” You laugh patting her on the back. “Besides, you could get yourself one heck of a boyfriend with Asahi.”
“You asked Asahi out?” The group exclaimed, all of them were in shock as for Kyoya… He was silent.
You felt guilty for asking another guy out right after you got rejected by your fiancée, but it was what you had to do to get out of this union. Be someone else’s fiancée and be happy… You finally looked over at Kyoya and he felt cold and distant as the group were all yelling at each other over why you had asked Asahi out. He quietly stood and exited the room just as he did at last night’s dinner. You'd hurt his feelings, but so did he. It wasn’t fair play, but he didn’t want you that way, might as well find someone who would. Someone who would love you the way you deserve to be loved. After all, The Perfect Boyfriend List had six requirements:
1. He had to be rich
2. Handsome
3. Kind and generous
4. Funny
5. Obviously interested in you
6. Not be Kyoya

Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader

Part three - The dinner date
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 3K
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Hi! I’m just taking a short break from posting for a week or two just because my finals are right around the corner and I obviously have to take care of that first and secure that diploma! So I hope you enjoy this chapter and I’ll see you in a week or two, I’ll keep you updated!
After a long day at school, the last thing you want to do is go to a dinner party with your family in law. You would rather be practicing cello or read than to have some small talk with them. Your mother sent you clothes from her new collection and you were in awe. She made you a custom set with your favorite color: a blazer and high waist fitted palazzo pants made from the most comfortable fabric with a beige sweetheart corset top. The outfit was accompanied by pearl earrings and a pearl necklace that you got from a trip in America a few years ago. You bother to put some makeup on, not too much, but just enough to please your in-laws. You grabbed your best pair of heels to finish your outfit before you head to the living room where your father was probably waiting for you.
He looked as if he was just hit in the guts when he finally looked up from his phone. You politely smiled at your father not wanting to speak with him and turned to head to the front door.
“Can we please talk, my sweetie?” He speaks and you oblige to his demand by walking back and facing him.
“Dad… What’s done is done, I don’t want to talk about it.”
“I do. Especially if you hate me for it.” He’s hurt by how you ignored him the past two weeks and you can’t help but feel bad as well. You never had a bad relationship with your parents, they were understanding and they were kind and helpful, but since the engagement announcement you shut them out. Both of them. “I’m sorry. We should’ve waited until you were ready. The Ootori’s are a respectable people and their third son seemed to be a perfect fit for you. Kyoya’s father told me only good things that you would love about him.” Well he was wrong. He’s an uptight asshole, that son of theirs. “You had many other suitors, which I never spoke to you or your mother about, but I truly believe the one who could deserve my dear daughter would be him.”
“What if you’re wrong? What if he never deserves me.” Your question was distant. You meant it more as if you would never be in love like your father and mother. “What if this arrangement makes me more miserable?”
“Then make him see how spiteful you are, you are my daughter and you are proud and strong.” He starts and you chuckle. “If Kyoya Ootori doesn’t see this beautiful intelligent young woman, then he’s a fool and he will regret ever messing with you.” He too chuckles. “His father and I made the arrangement for a business marriage, it’s up to you how you want to have this relationship. You could try and make it bearable, even fall in love with him in the end, or you can make it horrible and never speak to him.” That confirms that you are stuck in this relationship, but he’s right. There is no legal contract on how you have to behave with Kyoya, maybe this is why he’s being improper when his father isn’t around. Then let’s have some fun. If Kyoya wants to be this heartless asshole, you can play too. After all, this engagement game takes two to play.
Tumblr media
The Ootori house was not to your liking. It was way too big and too bland for you to actually appreciate. It reflected on their cold personality you thought. Your house in Japan was a proper one with a rather big size as well, but it was filled with souvenirs from travels and some touches of your family and yours. Photos, paintings, stupid decorations your mother couldn’t take her eyes off of. Your house did feel like home, it felt warm, welcoming and safe. The Ootori’s estate felt more like a hospital than a home. You wonder if Kyoya felt this way as well.
Your entrance to the estate was the same as the last time, the maid announced your arrival and let you enter inside and as usual, she would make you wait in the living room for your hosts to come and join you.
“My dear friend!” Kyoya’s father, Yoshio Ootori, entered the place and everything went cold. His appearance, his tone… An untamable creature. He turns towards you to shake your hand which you do gladly.
“It’s always a pleasure to see you, sir.” You tried to warm him up with your smiles and polite flattery, but nothing ever worked.
“As well.” He doesn’t even lift a corner of his lips to smile. “Kyoya’s waiting for you in the garden, I’ve set up a meeting before dinner.” He continues. “Our maid will guide you to the garden while your father and I attend to business.” You nod and the maid asks you to follow her as if she’s been summoned. You’ve learned her name by the time you meet her a second time. It was Rose. Rose was from Europe and a distant relative to Yoshio’s wife.
She opened the door of the veranda for you to enter and you were mesmerized. It was beautiful! The garden was unique and filled with diverse plants and flowers with the colors of the rainbow. A straight concrete path led you to a gazebo where Kyoya was waiting, waiting for you it seems.
You kept looking around not knowing how to take such beauties. The garden seemed larger than their home and more lively than its occupants.
“If I would’ve known this part of your home existed I would’ve asked my father for more visits.” You half joke which earned a chuckle from Kyoya.
“I’m glad you enjoy it.” Was all he said, but his tone wasn’t as cold as the last time you’ve spoken to him a week ago.
For a whole week, you’ve been denied and ignored by him any time you tried to approach him. He wouldn’t so much as speak with you during the Host Club’s meeting or to glance back at you during the classes you have together. It was as if you didn’t exist to him. It was as if he didn’t want you to exist.
“So now you want to talk to me?” You finally made it to the gazebo without being too close to him. You never met his gaze, you were way too busy to look around and discover new plants. Your eyes finally caught your interest and you walked past him as you made your way to a peculiar bush. “Lavender roses.” Your voice was soft as the petals you carefully stroke.
“I’m sorry if I was rather harsh with you the other day.” He simply says. He followed you to the nearby plant. “It wasn’t very proper of me.”
“Are you apologizing on your behalf or on your father’s?” You ask, finally looking up to his piercing gaze that fell upon you.
“A little bit of both.” Right. It’s Kyoya after all.
“Well, I don’t accept your apology. You were rude and unfair to me. I was kissed by Kaoru and you treated me as a common whore who would go to bed with anyone.” He looks down to you with a smug smirk on his lips and you return to look at the pretty flowers. “So your apology you can stick it up your pretentious ass.” He laughs. A real laugh. It sounds so true and melodious, you could listen to it all day long. You can’t help, but snort at his reaction. “Does me being bothered make you laugh?”
“A bit, yes.” He manages to say. “I didn’t know such cruel insults could come out of your mouth. It’s almost adorable.” He finally relaxes and stops laughing, which you didn’t want to stop. Your cheeks heat up at the way he said adorable, you adorable? It was a decent compliment coming from him. “You are not a threatening person.”
“You haven’t seen a threat from me yet Kyoya.” You snort.
“I forgive you for being kissed by Kaoru. If you wondered.” He adds.
“As if I had anything to do with that.” You mumbled under your breath. Kaoru has been extremely distant when you tried to ask him about his suspicions. It felt like everyone was keeping secrets from you. “I never apologized for that.” You continue. “What do we do from now on?”
“I am yours and you are mine, soon legally, and it wouldn’t be proper for one of us to be intimate with anyone else. The relationship stays between us and we do not see anyone else.”
“So what now? You’re my boyfriend?”
“Hardly. I wish not to force you into being in love with me, but all I ask is faithfulness.” Talk about faithfulness, you’re both courting ladies and boys at your school.
“Don’t worry, no one’s caught my eye but you my sweet Kyoya.” You tried your best to mimic Renge and he chuckles. “But in all honesty, do you really want this to work?”
“I hope not.” Clearly. “I do not despise you, although you are way too cocky to my liking.” He snorts, finally coming closer to watch the flowers as you do. “I do not want this alliance as much as you do, but it is my duty as the last son to marry and bring prosperity to my family this way.” It's as if he finally opened up a door, a small opening, but it’s there. Should you confess your feelings to this arrangement too? You could make it work… Maybe? If he would open up to you every chance he gets this could be a fine marriage, maybe not filled with love, but with agreements. The plan you made to make his life a living hell didn’t seem to want to stick. Yes he can be a heartless asshole, but you didn’t feel like picking a fight with him. Not tonight.
“I do not despise you either, true I do not like your attitude towards me, but I don’t hate you.” Your response was honest and warm. “My father told me that it’s up to us for the dynamic of this engagement, do you think we could try to be friends? At the very least? I know you haven't liked me very much since the first day at school, but can we start over and try?” You suggest.
“I don’t think I can start over.” He admits and you look away. You let out a low sigh before turning around and walking away. Dinner would be soon anyway. “I won’t ignore you at school if that’s what you were asking.” He simply adds and you can feel the warmth in his tone a few moments ago getting colder.
“No. No it was not, but I appreciate the gesture.” You never looked back and went inside to meet with the rest of the Ootori family and your father.
If you were his and he was yours, why did it feel like you weren’t. Like you couldn’t love him, like he couldn’t love you. Or even want to try… You wanted to try, life wouldn’t be so miserable if you’d both liked each other a bit, but it’s not — He does not want you that way and you have to move on and be mature about this! Be the bigger person! Be the one Kyoya crawls to, not the other way around. All he wants is faithfulness, understandable, but if this is the only thing that can get him riled up and to have this small openness about his feelings, his thoughts, you may flirt harder with your next guest. It’s a stupid plan, probably the worst one you’ve ever had in your entire life, but you were willing to do anything to get real emotions out of him instead of his cold, jerk self of a character.
Tumblr media
The conversations were boring as expected. You father and Kyoya’s were talking about their arrangements and you were eating this delicious food lost in your own thoughts. You were thinking about the boy sitting across from you, you couldn’t get him off your mind. “I do not despise you” were his words. Then why does he make it so hard for you to at least become friends? You truly didn’t hate him and you didn’t love him either, he doesn’t do or say anything to make him likable. You wonder why he is so popular in the Host Club, he clearly isn’t acting like a jerk with his guests, that’s for sure. But why can’t he at least give a quarter of that kindness to his future bride? Was that too much to ask?
Kyoya and you. You and Kyoya. What a pair!
“These two are such a pair.” Yoshida smiles proudly. “How many grandchildren are you expecting, my friend?” You and your father almost spit both of your drinks into your plates. What!?
“I – Uh… I think three would be lovely, but it’s only if my daughter wishes to have some.” Good save, dad.
“If Kyoya can produce as many heirs as he can, my wife would love a lot of grandchildren, I for the fact would also agree with three.” This is making you uncomfortable, the last bit of respect you had for his father is slowly fading away as he speaks about children as objects, almost. “When you are both married after college, I hope you get a chance to produce heirs as fast as possible. They will obviously share both of our last names…” You hated that word “produce”. It was bitter and a terrifying word that would haunt you. You didn’t think about children, for Christ sakes, you’re in High School. The lovely dinner doesn’t taste as good anymore and you can feel your stomach aching.
“It seems my fiancé is uncomfortable with the subject, could we talk about this after we get married, please?” Kyoya’s voice echoes in the dining room, cutting his father off. All eyes were on Kyoya who stood proud then back at you. The colors of your face drained and Kyoya’s father didn’t even seem regretful.
“My apologies.” He speaks as if it was as bitter as the word “produce”.
“I think I need to freshen up a bit, Rose.” You call her and she rushes over to you. “Would you be so kind and show me the bathroom, please?” You tried not to shake as you stood up. All your confidence was gone in an instant. Kyoya stands up and walks over to you.
“Do not trouble yourself, Rose. I will take care of her.” He smiles at his maid as he gently takes your trembling hand in his and walks you away from the dining room.
Tears are filling your eyes quickly and a lump in your throat is forming, breathing becomes hard and you look away from Kyoya. You’re embarrassed… You’ve embarrassed yourself and your father in front of your in-laws. A shame to your family, Kyoya’s father would either mutter or shout it to your face. Kyoya gestures to a door and you rush inside and lock it. Your back hits the door and you slowly slide down until you sit on the floor. Tears were finally coming out, but you couldn’t let him know. Breathing was harder, especially since you tried to contain your sobbing. Fucking kids!? You’re a young lady, a teenager for Christ sakes! You didn’t want this! You didn’t want to rush things! After college you will be in your early twenties, you have to live a bit before you even think about kids…
“Do you want me to stay outside?” Kyoya’s soft voice is heard behind you, behind the tall white door. “Or do you want me to come inside?” You were hesitant. You think you needed comfort, but not from him.
“Outside.” You choke on your word.
“If that makes you feel better, I think it’s a stupid idea as well.” He lightly chuckles. “I think I’d rather kiss Kaoru myself before I have children with a woman I barely know.” You laugh through your sob. You’d kiss Renge before you’d have babies with him. “Do you want me to get you anything?” He asks and you take a couple of seconds before you scoot over a bit and open up the door, just a little. Your mother used to hold your hand whenever you were scared, stressed or you just needed comfort after a long day. You needed this, but you were embarrassed to ask, but you need the touch to be reassured…
“Don’t ask why, but can you hold my hand? Please?” You slip your hand in the door opening and you can hear a faint chuckle before a warm hand gently grasp yours. You take a deep breath and try to calm yourself. He probably heard you because his thumb is caressing the top of your hand. He’s drawing slow circles, his soft skin felt so right against yours. “Is that a part of the Ootori medical business?” You sniff in an attempt to hear him laugh again, but he snorts.
“Only for the desperate cases.” Low blow, but you laugh, truly laugh. “It’s mostly the one’s crying in bathrooms.”
“You’re so funny.” Your tone was meant to be playful, but cold. He continues his gestures until you pull away and open the door fully to meet his gaze. He stands up and towers you once again. He tilts his head and smirks, what’s up with him? “Falling in love with me, yet?” You joke and he scoffs.
“Go check yourself before you return to the table, I don’t want my fiancé to look like a ghost.” He chuckles and leaves you in the doorway speechless. What an  asshole!
Tumblr media
You’ve done your best to wipe the mascara from your eyes and returned safely to the table. From the sad look on your father’s face, he probably knew what was going on in your mind. Kyoya’s older brother, the second son, was cackling under his breath as if you were a joke. From what information your father’s assistant gathered, Akito was married to an elite Japanese actress and was a terrible lover, an unhappy marriage. Kyoya’s sister and his eldest brother who couldn’t attend dinner had successful marriages and careers. To Akito, you were not a girl, you were an asset incapable of feelings just like his poor wife.
“Kyoya told us that you’ve grown fond of one another already.” Akito speaks with a chuckle as if Kyoya couldn’t have someone who truly loves him. You will play along, you hate petty siblings. Besides, you won’t embarrass Kyoya in front of his family, you will not go that low.
“We do!” You giggle. “Kyoya has been nothing, but kind to me and I can’t help but enjoy his company.” You continued on. Lies and lies.
“It’s odd thinking about it. My baby brother has a girlfriend, she’s beautiful even when she cries and looks smart and she’s dating my failure of a brother… How could a match like yours work?” Mrs. Ootori slaps his son’s shoulder and you wanted to do it as well. How dare he?
“Hearing you speak makes me believe that you’re jealous of your brother to have a diamond like me as his bride.” Your expression was nothing but a facade. Annoyance was all you wanted to express, but you couldn’t, wouldn’t. “But I am the lucky one in this relationship, he is perfect. He’s all I could ever dream of, even if he’s distant at times and a bit heartless, but no one is perfect. He could say the same thing about me I think… I’ve made a fool of myself more times than I can count in the past two weeks.” You confess. “What about you Akito? Could you say the same thing about your wife?” You wiped off the smug smile on his face, he was worse than Kyoya and you thanked the gods that you weren’t marrying him. You look over to the teenager in front of you and he smirks proudly at how you answered. What a pair the two of you are making now.
The night is coming to an end and you’ve politely said goodbye to each and every family member, even Akito who couldn’t stand you after your earlier comment. Your father left to prep the car and Mrs. Ootori grabbed you by the arm, pulling you aside from the doorframe.
“I’m sorry for my husband’s comments earlier, he’s a bit relentless about this matter. Your future with our son. Do not feel intimidated or pressured, you are your own person after all.” She smiles at you and so do you. You felt more comfortable in these few seconds than you’ve been all evening. She’s the liveliest person in this house and they really need her. You thank her and you can see behind her Akito give you an evil smile.
“Not even a kiss goodnight?” He simply says. Kiss goodnight? What is this, the 60’s? Your ruse earlier wasn’t convincing enough for him or was it payback… Maybe both. His mother’s face lit up and she pulled away to let Kyoya take her place in front of you.
“My father is waiting in the car, I should really go.” You tried not to sound awkward about it. Before you could find another excuse, Kyoya's soft hands reached yours and slid up to cradle your face. His eyes behind his glasses sparkled and he gazed at you… All of you. Your heart skipped a beat, what’s gotten into him?
“Goodnight my darling.” Kyoya lips meet the top of your head and smile fondly at you. “Don’t get your hopes up.” He whispers under his breath. You looked over and Akito wasn’t fazed by his brother’s performance. Screw it!
“Don’t get yours up.” You gently grab his collar and pull him down towards you so you can kiss his lips. It’s soft, fast and passionless. A pointless kiss, but you smiled warmly at him. He stared at you in utter shock. You wanted to laugh at how silly he looked, but you contained yourself. His new facial expression is now your favorite. The way his lips are parted and his eyes wide... You would take a picture and show it to the twins if you could. “You’re welcome. You whisper before bowing to the Ootori’s and leave to join your father in his car.
You’re such an idiot... You could’ve let it go, but you needed to prove that you were in love with the third Ootori son. If it was quick and awkward, no meaning whatsoever, then why was it the only thing you were thinking about during the whole ride home?
