we all know that in most nancy drew games, there comes a point where you have to suspend your disbelief about WHY in the HELL would someone set up these elaborate puzzles to protect their treasure/hide a secret/create a dangerous scavenger hunt for their loved ones, and in some games, HOW could someone from that time period make that anyway, it's practically magic??

Labyrinth of Lies is a big one for this, because those sets??!? WHY. HOW. they are just so much

but in this case I don't caaaaare. they're beautiful, they're amazing, I wish there were 10 more rooms so I could boggle at the wild over the top choices made for this extremely mideocre 4-person play.

Every single time I play the Labyrinth of Lies it's the exact same thing. Melina tells me 'go check if these specific artifacts are fake!' and I'm like, yes okay! I know exactly what artifacts I need to check! Golden leaf necklace, gem earring, and the vase! Then I go and collect the clay, spectrometer, and oh, the blacklight needs a wrench. Where is the wrench in this game?

And I never remember where the wrench is, but I think, well, Niobe's workshop is the most likely place to hold a wrench, and I go there, and I click and click and click, no wrench. I despair. Where else could this wrench be? I check Grigor's station, then the basement, then the musem, sets, Melina's office, Xenia's table. No wrench. How will I finish this game if I can't find this god damn wrench??? Where did they hide it?

I click every inch of Niobe's workshop again, I check every screen, find extra phone charm I missed before, no wrench anywhere. I don't understand how I ever finished this game or why the wrench eludes me so. I decide to just check the necklace and the earring and I call Melina and she's like 'oh no' and plot moves forward, but I'm still like, where the hell was that wrench, I will not sleep at night until I find it.

And then, I get that cut scene of Grigor smuggling that 4 women vase and only THEN is the time to actually get the blacklight and THEN the freaking wrench just apparates itself into existence when you click in the Niobe's workshop, you can't even SEE IT, you just click at the desk and WOOP wrench.

5 stages of grief. Every time. Because I never remember that the wrench is later, separate task. I will never learn. I will never have a peaceful experience of this.
