no interruptions, no tape. those four words can't be helped but to echo within the depths of esme's reverie, as though her mind was an unoccupied establishment, his reassurance acting as an encouraging reverberation pulling her into a comforting embrace. it was enough to almost trigger herself into flinging lithe arms around his strapping stature, to beam a fervent cheshire grin while declaring avid cries of thanks and appreciation. however, she reinforces an internal note to maintain a cool composure, edging towards nonchalance had the youngest dragotta not already alluded to her nightmare turned reality, unveiling just a fraction of vulnerability typically hidden from the masses.
darting doe like eyes from chiseled features, to a small, rectangular business card laminated to perfection, esme outstretches her hand. whether purposely or not does she allow the minimal, yet electrifying contact to take place, albeit fingers brush against his own during the most brief of moments. she could've sworn a static current shocked between them via close proximities. inaudibly nodding her head, a real smile begins to splay at gloss layered lips. nothing hinting at flirtatiousness or coquettish qualities, no, but an unmistakably genuine smile.
"definitely keeping that in mind," she proclaims, voice a few octaves above considered acceptably loud enough to be heard merely between them both, but not too loud to be regarded as actual shouting. "but i meant what i said just then. this won't be the last time you see me." opposite hand collecting her designer clutch from the bar's polished, wooden surface, esme swiftly slides his credentials into the safety of one of the item's pockets before settling her undivided attention back upon him. "it was really nice meeting you, ellis and thank you for the drink. i'll see you around," words delivered would've felt like an authentic farewell, yet they fell more along the lines of two people merely bidding each other an amiable 'see you later' and perhaps that was actually what it was. deep down to esme? that's truly how it felt, especially as heel adorned feet carried her out the double doors of bacha-lacha and back into the clamoring noise of the concrete jungle.
FIN.
Ellis watches her carefully, not like a man ogling his date, but like a tactician studying a tell. Every small gesture catalogued: the way her throat shifts beneath the sip of liquor, the weight in her pause, how the word protection lands with a little too much gravity to be casual.
His tone softens, not with pity, but precision. "Protection." He repeats, tasting the word like a verdict he’s half inclined to challenge. “Not your typical cease and desist, no-but something tells me it’s still got teeth.” There’s a moment, then his gaze lowers, slow and deliberate, as if to give her space without ever stepping back. Not the sort to press, but he doesn’t disappear easily, either. He could smell the smoke curling around her story, even if she wasn’t ready to show him the fire.
When she asks for a number exchange, Ellis doesn’t miss a beat. His smirk is restrained, elegant, measured in a way that suggests both amusement and intent. "You could-” He begins, reaching into his coat pocket with an ease that’s all confidence and no pretense. He passes her a business card between two fingers, pale and clean: his name printed in crisp serif, the number handwritten in the corner. “But I’ll do you one better.”
His voice lowers just slightly. "You call me when you’re ready. Doesn't have to be tonight, doesn’t have to be ever-" A tilt of the head, eyes catching hers, "but if it does… I’ll listen. No interruptions. No tape." Something told the lawyer she was clawing at the wall of an endless well. Begging and hoping for someone to listen to the hauntings that accosted her.
A pause, and then that smirk returns, quieter now, like a secret tucked in the corner of his mouth. "I mean it, give me a ring and I'll do what I can to assist you." Not only because she was a stunning creature: all woman, from the tips of her heels, the curves of her hips, to the caramel woven waves that cascaded down her shoulder. But there was a gleam in her eyes. Something solid and sincere.

A chaque fois.

Closed to @violettebaudelaire for Camellia.
It occurred to Lacha, as she let her mind wander and her gaze found Camellia seated on her right looking far more attentive as Sorrel talked and talked, that she’d gone about this whole thing with Gale entirely backward and wrong. It wasn’t exactly a surprise—the afternoon, while ultimately pleasurable, had been messy and full of misunderstandings—only once the realization hit her she couldn’t believe her own stupidity.
How had she neglected to tell Camellia what she was going to do first?
“Oh, Sorrel, do shut up,” she said, words blunt and temper shorter than usual as shown in the way she simply interrupted him, which was partially born of the realization and partially of Sorrel’s tendency toward prose and flattery to soften Adare’s requested favor. “You needn’t waste your breath with flattery and the fucking long-winded explanation. I’m not in the mood to hear it or be difficult. He can use the sword, but Rowan and I go where it does and that best not be somewhere warded to his favor. If that’s acceptable to him then he can name a time and place.” There was a pause before she gave him a disdainful look. “Preferably by other means than via you.”
Sorrel’s expression didn’t flicker, which was no surprise either because Lacha voicing her distaste for him was a regular facet of their interactions, but all the same, he took the dismissal for what it was, leaving her, Camellia and the rest of the Archfey to finish the meeting his arrival had interrupted. Only, Lacha wasn’t much in the mood for that either. “Everything else can keep until tomorrow,” Lacha said in the wake of Sorrel’s exit, “I’m in no mood.”
The sentiment wasn’t greeted with protest, though Lacha didn’t know if that’s because she wasn’t alone in being tired or because no one found it worth their time to argue with her. What she did know was this: she needed to talk to Camellia before Gale said something indiscreet on the assumption she already had. A hand reached out as the room began to clear, gently stopping her daughter from walking too far away, as she quietly said, “Stay, love. We need to talk.”

where: Tara, an abandoned hallway in the arena when: june 21st, 2018, sunset with: @camelliafairchild
Rowan tugged lightly on his hand, urging him onward. She said nothing as Gale followed obediently, eager to find Camellia who he hoped was waiting. His nerves were a fleeting mess and he couldn’t stop tapping his fingers against the phone buried deep inside his pocket. It was a nervous habit and one he couldn’t pretend to understand but with each growing step he came closer to the thing he desired most of all. Telling Cam had been a dream of his for so long that the ability to finally release it and confess was something he had never imagined would come true. Now the only hope was whether she would accept him or not.
Taking a sharp breath, Gale stepped forward to find her waiting there patiently, looking about as confused as he imagined her to be. “Princess? I apologize for the secrecy, Lacha promised me I’d have what little time she could grant me without anyone following us.” He reached up to brush his hair out of his face, a hesitant smile lighting his face as he looked her over. “We’ve already lost even if the final blow hasn’t been struck. But I wanted to be the first to tell you before it was announced...I wanted to let you know who your true father was before it became a public spectacle.” Tierney and Rowan melted away into the shadows, granting them privacy for the time being.
His breath seemed to leave him before he remembered the true importance behind this all and how curious she likely was for answers. While she had never openly spoken of it to anyone of his knowledge he knew that it was something that the fey whispered about openly behind their backs. Steeling his nerves, he reached out to take her hand and clasp it between his own. “I’m your father, Camellia.”

Things You Will Love to Know About Lehenga Choli
The lehenga choli is also known as lehenga. It is basically an attire with three pieces. One of them is the lehenga or the long skirt. It is worn primarily by Hindi and Punjabi-speaking women in India, especially during their weddings. However, these days it is finding acceptance in the other communities of India as well, especially among the celebrities who are bowled over by its sheer grandeur. The lehenga is normally secured to your waist and the mid-riff is laid bare. Apart from weddings women in India also wear these during other ceremonial occasions such as festivals.
The Background of The Dress
The lehenga choli is also referred to as ghagra choli in some parts of India. The dress became popular among women in northern India during the 10th century AD. When the Mughals came to India along with their fine craftsmanship the dress evolved further. Throughout their rule that stretched from the 12th century to the 19th century, the dress kept getting better. In its original form, the dress was basically created from cotton. However, later on, royal fabrics such as brocade and silk started to be used as well. This is how it became a royal dress.
Tumblr media
Their Making
These dresses require a lot of intricate stitching and this is why it takes at least 20 days for each such set to be made. A lot in this case also depends on factors such as embellishments being used as well as the fabric from which the dress is being made. The hand-woven and hand-stitched pieces take longer because of the sheer detailing that goes into the same. These dresses are often made by entire communities of artisans each of whom has a definite role to play in the process of creation.
The Evolution of The Dress
As we have said already, these dresses have evolved with time. A major role in these cases has been played by cultural influences that have had a say on areas such as the style and silhouette of the dress. This is why we have so many varieties to choose from in these dresses nowadays. The saree with lehenga that you get from brands such as Zari Butta these days can be called a recent evolution of the same. Even if you look at the traditional forms of the dress you would find the likes of Sharara, Lacha, and Gharara, to name a few.

Session Recap 3/10/18
As the party all came into visibility, the gatehouse guard seemed to surprised to respond. Eventually, Amaranth asked him “Are we allowed in, or what?” The guard apologized saying that yes, of course, they just didn’t get many invisible visitors -- to which Orsik cheerfully replied “How would you know?”
When the party indicated they were looking for lodging, they were advised to visit the Fool’s Head tavern. Ditto asked about the wraith outside that appeared to be guarding the town, and the gatekeeper explained that their town wizard set up some protections. As the party began to walk away and into the town, Ditto and Amaranth noticed something strange about him -- he had no shadow.
As they got out of the guard’s earshot, Amaranth asked, loudly enough that the entire party could hear, if Ditto knew anything about creatures that didn’t have shadows. Ditto had several ideas, but one seemed particularly relevant, and replied that the Tome of Mynskay had mentioned to her that in some cases, undead shadows could actually be formed from those of the living. With everyone getting more and more on edge, Kriv suggested that maybe they should continue this conversation indoors. Amaranth agreed.
Folly’s End looked decidedly gloomy. The windows of most buildings were lit, but tightly shuttered. A large, strange-looking tower loomed over the rest of the town. Ditto got a distinct suspicion that it was definitely magical. Voski had turned her eyes towards the town square, which had grey-ish grass and few signs of use for anything but daily comings and goings. A rotting stage-like structure was visible in one of the corners.
When they entered the tavern, it proved to be entirely empty except for a woman behind the bar, who started when they entered. Voski noticed that not only was the tavern void of other people right now, but the glasses above the bar all seemed to be full, as if it hadn’t seen visitors in a while. The party told the woman, who introduced herself as Lacha when asked by Voski, that they needed rooms for the night, which she said she would prepare for them. When they inquired about whether any other visitors had passed through recently, Lacha told them that she hadn’t had many for several weeks.
As Voski distracted Lacha with conversation, Amaranth tried leaning over the bar to see if she could tell if Lacha cast a shadow. Unfortunately, before she was able to figure it out, Lacha noticed her and looked suspicious about the rogue trying to see over the counter. When this became evident, Orsik tried offering her a fortune-telling. Lacha objected vehemently.
Around that point, a young boy and girl ran out from the door behind the counter that seemed to lead to the kitchen. The boy, who Lacha called Karvel, immediately said that he’d like his fortune told. Orsik did a very simple reading for him, offering vague predictions that could really be applied to anyone.
Karvel then cheerfully asked the party “Are you adventurers? Are you going to kill the shadows?” Orsik addressed this by making a comment that implied he wasn’t particularly concerned by the shadows, to which Kriv, somewhat annoyed, replied that some had almost killed him. Karvel seemed shocked by this, and protested “But you’re so big!” to which Kriv didn’t have much to say. As quietly as she could, Ditto whispered to Kriv “I don’t think Orsik gets afraid of things...”
As everyone continued talking, Lacha again mentioned the town wizard. Erwyn asked her if they were the one in charge of things in the town, though the question seemed to make him uncomfortable. He was told that yes, the wizard (whose name was Lakaphai) was generally said to have that position, though she was also incredibly reclusive, living in the strange tower they’d all seen earlier. Lacha did tell them, however, that Lakaphai’s assistant, Hayel, usually stopped by in the evenings to pick up food for them both, and would probably be here soon if they wanted to talk to her.
It was at that moment that Hayel actually did walk in, proving to be somewhat flamboyantly dressed -- at the very least, far more than anyone else they’d seen in this town. She addressed Lacha somewhat smugly, and Erwyn instantly got the impression of an air of superiority around her (though admittedly, that was something he in particularly was likely to be sensitive to). Voski began chatting with Hayel about her duties, and the assistant explained that she was mostly involved in helping Lakaphai build up knowledge, as this far out they didn’t have access to the same kind of knowledge as a larger institution. When Voski followed the question up to ask what she was doing out here anyways, Hayel explained that she’d actually spent her youth out on the coast, crewing different ships, and was called back here due to family matters, as she had relatives living in the area. Hayel then expressed that she’d like to know a bit more about the party as well, and Voski introduced herself. Orsik did as well -- except he gave his name as Rish, seeming not to trust her. Voski told Hayel that the six of them had also met on a boat and had been taking some assorted small jobs together since, saying they’d actually come out this direction to visit the Crossroads Market.
When Hayel was asked a little about the area, she offhand mentioned that there were some number of small shrines in the woods. Kriv asked what gods they were to, and Hayel mentioned that the biggest and most interesting one was actually so old that no one was really quite sure anymore. It contained some old writing, apparently, but no one had been able to decipher it. When he pressed her about it a bit more, from the description and some of his own experience, the shrine sounded familiar.
Hayel then stated that she needed to be getting back, but if the party would be staying, she’d love to buy them all a drink. She was asked if Lakaphai would also consider joining them, and laughed, saying that no, the wizard tended to get very wrapped up in her research, and “You know how wizards are” -- to which Orsik responded that actually, he was a wizard himself. Almost immediately after he made this statement, Ditto sent him a Message, asking him to please not let Hayel know that she was a wizard as well.
As Hayel left, Lacha re-emerged from the kitchen she’d nervously retreated to, along with food for those of the party who had ordered it. They began to discuss sleeping arrangements, and Amaranth suggested quietly to the party that, perhaps in a place this suspicious, no one should room alone that evening. Voski said she was fine with that, but that if Ditto was going to room with her again, she’d be buying her meal. Lacha explained that they had eight rooms, but that one was out-of-order at the moment. When Orsik what that meant, she said that the room had gotten all mildewed. Orsik didn’t buy it.
Kriv asked if there was a stable for his goat, and Karvel was called out again to lead Volfed there. When the boy came back, he was breathlessly excited about the creature’s size. Kriv told him that if he’d said anything to the goat, he’d understood everything, leading Karvel to badger him with more questions, like if Volfred was a talking goat. Kriv said if he wanted to say anything to Volfred, it would have to go through him, and Karvel asked him to ask Volfred if there was anything else he needed. Volfred replied that some apples would be nice, and some were fetched for him.
Around that time, Hayel returned, pouring herself a drink and tossing the payment over the counter. As she joined some of the party where they were sitting, Orsik asked Lacha for a round of drinks -- which amused Hayel, seeing as she had offered to buy them herself. Orsik asked Hayel what she recommended, and she told him about some local mead. They went back and forth about different drinks quite a bit, and Lacha was only freed from the conversation when, from the bar counter, Kriv asked if she could just get him an ale. Erwyn told Lacha that he didn’t particularly require anything -- though when she apologized about not having any elven vintage, he mumbled something about that not really being to his taste either. Voski asked for peppermint tea, and Ditto got a cider, but ended up offering most of it to Tiktik. As the familiar -- in hawk form -- buried its beak into the glass, Amaranth commented that her respect for Tiktik had just gone up a few notches.
Hayel looked intrigued by this whole interaction. She looked at Amaranth, and said “You look awful familiar -- have you crewed any ships out of Amedara?” Amaranth said that she couldn’t say she had, and Hayel shrugged, saying  “Perhaps I’m mistaken.”
The conversation turned to magic, and Hayel asked Orsik what his specialization was. He told her it was divination, and offered to tell a fortune for her. She seemed very amused, but accepted -- and when he put in a bit more effort than he generally did for his readings, Orsik got the impression there was some very strong magic associated with her future. He then asked her what it was that she was hoping to specialize in, and Hayel told him conjuration, because the idea of summoning up servants to do your bidding appealed to her. Voski asked if her master’s specialty was conjuration as well, and she replied that it used to be, though with the state of the town she was now doing a fair bit of abjuration as well.
(As this whole conversation was going on, Kriv and Amaranth, who were still at the bar, were making faces over it.)
Hayel then asked Voski her own profession, saying that from her instruments she would appear to be a performer, to which Voski simply replied “I dabble.” As she began to ask about the others, Orsik cut in to say that Ditto was an animal trainer, which was why she had a hawk with her. Before much more could be asked, Ditto, who had noticed Erwyn looking like he’d tried to get up and extricate himself from the conversation about seven times already, loudly asked him if he wanted to go talk to her about animal training things in one of the other rooms. Erwyn did not see this as an appropriate or subtle transition and just looked even more distressed.
Hearing this talk though, Lacha came over to talk to everyone about their rooms. As everyone began figuring out how they’d split things for the evening, Kriv asked Erwyn if he wanted to share a room for the night -- to which the elf very quietly said that if it was alright, he’d really prefer to be alone this evening.
Hayel was already headed out the door at this point, having taken it as a cue to leave, but Ditto followed her out. When she noticed the gnome following her, Ditto told Hayel that she ought to be kind to any creature she conjured. Hayel laughed and said she could see an animal trainer feeling that way, but as Ditto slipped into a much more oddly technical explanation of summoned creatures, she seemed to grow a little suspicious. When she asked her about her experience with these things, Ditto simply said “I have enough.”
Amaranth pulled Erwyn aside and told him she was worried about him rooming alone for the night. He told her that he understood her concerns, as he was suspicious as well, but that he really thought that he didn’t think he’d do well around others for the night. Something about the evening’s conversation seemed to have made him very uncomfortable.
As everyone headed to their rooms, Orsik suggested to Ditto that that evening they should try to break into the “out-of-order” room. Ditto agreed to this plan and Messaged Amaranth about it, who seemed to like the idea as well. As Orsik and Amaranth were rooming together, they agreed to alert Ditto when they thought the time would be right to make their attempt.
As Ditto entered her own room, Voski cheerfully said “Well she seems nice. What do you think they’ve done to the townspeople?” Ditto said that she wasn’t sure, but that the Tome had mentioned to her that someone was likely responsible for summoning all these shadows, and had literally said that it might be an academic type in a tower.” When Ditto told Voski that she’d be up asking the Tome a few more questions, Voski asked her if she really ought to be reading that thing before sleeping. Ditto made a dismissive comment before Voski reminded her that she’d spent an awful lot of time with the book as well, while trying to teach herself how to resurrect Erwyn. Ditto conceded this, but told her she’d be out in the hall reading all the same.
Orsik and Amaranth waited until all the tavern light seemed to be off, at which point Orsik used Sending to alert Ditto they were ready. Once they arrived at the door at the top of the stairs, Amaranth searched it for traps. When she found none, Orsik started picking the lock. Once the door was able to be opened, Amaranth instructed the other two to stand back, cracked the door open, and looked inside.
The room’s interior was a mess. The entire place had been ripped to shreds, particularly the blankets across the bed, which had deep gouges in it. The windows were all boarded up. She closed the door quickly and told the others that they were probably dealing with some sort of monster. Orsik decided he wanted to see for himself and did the same -- except when he looked inside, he could have sworn he saw a hint of movement. He shut it quickly as well, leading Ditto to try to peek under it. She failed to see as much as the other two.
It was at that moment that Orsik heard a low growl, right before massive, invisible jaws dug into Amaranth’s shoulder -- three times. It growled again as it released her, and then appeared to vanish. The door then flung open, and a beam of dark energy shot out right towards Ditto’s feet -- exactly where her shadow was. She was tossed 20 feet backwards, into the room, and felt as though something had been ripped from her. A shadow began rising up from where she’d been standing. It missed an attack on her, but as she cast Expeditious Retreat on herself, and tried to leave the room, it hit, as did the invisible creature as she raced past it.
The commotion jolted Erwyn from his trance quickly, and he raced to the door to see what was going on. It wasn’t immediately evident, but Ditto was now near the door to his room, bleeding from her leg and looking incredibly pale, and he asked her what was going on before casting Cure Wounds on her. She babbled out in rushed, fragmented words that they’d accidentally released some kind of monster.
Amaranth rushed past Orsik, yelling at him to put his armor on (he’d abandoned it for the sake of stealth) and shouting to try to wake the others. She reached the shadow in the doorway and landed two solid hits on it, making it dissipate into the air. At the same time, Ditto saw her own shadow return to her.
Orsik cast See Invisibility and was able to discern the identity of the creature attacking them -- it had large, goats’ legs, a spiked tail, wings, and horrible metal wolf-like jaws above which sat a single, dark eye. He recognized it as a type of demon called a Psoglav, which had a terrible eye that could steal away people’s shadows, and shouted this out to the others. Ditto had heard about this creature from the Tome, and Erwyn knew of them from his studies into demonology. He also was aware that this sort of creature could only have come directly from the Abyss, and its presence here could only be explained by either a portal opening up, or someone summoning it here. The former didn’t seem likely, as it had been contained in the room until now.
Erwyn called out to the others, asking if it would be more help or hindrance if he tried to cast Fog Cloud to make the demon more visible. Ditto encouraged him to do it, and the hallway began to fill with thick fog. Seemingly confused, the psoglov lost concentration on its Greater Invisibility spell, materializing right in front of Erwyn, who ended up dismissing his spell almost as soon as he’d cast it. It dug its teeth into his shoulder, clamping down and refusing to let go.
Ditto let loose five magic missiles, which not only hit the demon, but jarred it enough that it ripped its teeth from Erwyn to roar in pain. She then went to bang on Kriv’s door, trying to wake the paladin, who thus far had remained asleep, saying “It’s bad out here!”
Voski, however, did wake up, and ran out of her room carrying her bag, as if prepared to run. When she saw the hulking figure of the psoglav taking up the hallway, she cast Heat Metal on its jaws, and it roared in pain again as they began to smoke and glow red-hot.
Amaranth got two strikes in on the creature using her cutlasses, then retreated back towards Orsik by the stairs to get out of range. Now free from the demon’s jaws, Erwyn dashed about 15 beet away from it, drawing his bow and notching the demon-slaying arrow he’d acquired at the Crossroads Market. He fired at the psoglov, and the arrow struck it right in the chest, his typical flash of silver light accompanied by an explosion of radiant energy that left a smoking hole in the demon’s chest.
But it didn’t kill it.
Now enraged, and with a particular target in mind, the psoglov charged at Erwyn and dug its jaws into him, first his side, then his chest and shoulder, until he fell unconscious. Residual heat from the Heat Metal Spell made the attacks even more deadly, but still succeeded in being the final thing necessary to defeat the beast as well. It was now unconscious and unmoving, with a similarly-limp Erwyn still stuck between its jaws and bleeding out.
As if this situation wasn’t distressing enough, it was then that Orsik and Amaranth heard footsteps and a low humming sound coming from the stairs. Someone who looked like Lacha emerged, but she didn’t have the demeanor of the frightened tavernkeeper at all. She looked at Amaranth, amusement in her voice, and said that it had taken a while to fully recognize her -- but that she’d now placed her face. Mockingly she declared “Did you think you’d escaped the mark of the Devil’s Dirge?” -- before shifting into the form of a tiefling with purple skin, raven hair, horns that curled back, and light blue eyes like the sky that Amaranth had known as Raenon

Congratulations, PHNX, and thank you for your application! You have been accepted for the role of JASPER with the FC of BOB MORLEY. Please read the Checklist thoroughly! It has a brief in-game FAQ as well as everything you’ll need to get started. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re so looking forward to writing with you.
This application is everything we were hoping for in a Jasper. You really understood how he sees himself as a hero, this idealistic boy who cares too much but at the same time maybe his desires and motivations aren’t rooted in the right places. Your psychological assessment of Jasper was spot-on and your arc concepts were exactly what we’re hoping to see come to life on the dash. We cannot wait to see the dynamic duo of Peri and Jasper come to life—as well as the complicated relationship between he and Camellia. The scene you mentioned with Lacha? We hope that kind of growth happens for him, that is stellar. Welcome!!

Congratulations, Ellie, and thank you for your application! You have been accepted for the role of GALE with the FC of GARRETT HEDLUND as your SECOND CHARACTER. Please read the Checklist thoroughly! It has a brief in-game FAQ as well as everything you’ll need to get started. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re so looking forward to writing with you.
Ellie, you’ve proven time and time again that you are a very versatile writer with your ability to get in the headset of any character. Gale was no different. Upon reading your headcanons, it became very clear to us that Gale was a role that you were meant to play. The motivation you gave him of Court over person, especially in context to his father, was a revelation that made so much sense. It's easy to see the fey that Lacha would have fallen in love with and his interactions with both her and Camellia are something that we especially don’t want to miss. We can’t wait to see where you take him!

Congratulations, KAIT, and thank you for your application! You have been accepted for the role of PERIDOT with the FC change of TESSA THOMPSON. Please read the Checklist thoroughly! It has a brief in-game FAQ as well as everything you’ll need to get started. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re so looking forward to writing with you.
We appreciated the depth that you gave to Peridot, understanding her both as the stone cold bitch and the emotive flame within. You gave her nuance in areas we didn’t expect, but found we enjoyed that interpretation. Also, nice touch on the burn scars! That felt like a really intuitive touch on top of the foil you gave around her mother. We think your goals are spot-on and can’t wait to see Peri interact with Mal, Cam, and Lacha.

THE PEACEMAKER // Hyacinth. Earth fey: Tervuren. Unseelie Court.                 Born in 1744. Living at the Atlas, Apt. 11B.
Personal Power: Growth; Hyacinth has the ability to influence and accelerate growth in plants by touching them, including growth to unusual size or abundance.
KNOWN TRAITS // Diplomatic, empathetic, generous, insightful, covert.
Tumblr media
The brave flower that blooms through blankets of snow. Cabinets full of vials of dried petals. Tree bark and vanilla pods. Birch branches and lemon balm. The bright strength of spearmint. The calm serenity of lavender. A porcelain tea pot brewing rooibos and rose hips. Steaming mugs and soft furs on a cold day. A crystal coded memory, a labyrinth for secrets. Sage and thyme. Rue and columbine. Loveletters sent longing, faintly scented with roses.
History
⇢ Trigger warnings: death mentions. ⇢ Note: Hyacinth is nonbinary using only he/him.
Hyacinth was born to doting parents; though they didn’t understand him, they did their best to support him. His parents were Unseelie through and through. His mother had even been awarded a valour scar from Queen Celia. However, Hyacinth was born with a personal power unique among the Unseelie and far more suited to Seelie temperaments. No one judged him for it—indeed, some Unseelie sought him out for help with herbs rather than seek out a Seelie—and so Hyacinth’s loyalty to the Unseelie Court and his place in it has never wavered. Nevertheless, Hyacinth sought from an early age to find a way to bridge the gap between his personal preferences and Unseelie culture. Knighthood, for all its danger, seemed a natural fit for him. Though the Knights had notoriously short lives compared to other fey as they had a habit of winding up on the Tithe due to knowing or doing some secret thing, Hyacinth’s parents still supported his choice. It was a career in which he could serve his Court and feel at home in his talents, as Knights traditionally emulated parts of the other Court’s culture so as to not give insult when travelling there. Hyacinth was careful not to acquire any scars or tattoos to be in line with Seelie culture, and soon was awarded Knighthood by Queen Celia. The start of his career was exemplary and he felt like he really came into himself.
Around 1845, Hyacinth had a dalliance with Princess Lacha. Soonafter, he also discovered one of the royal family’s secrets while on a mission to the Seelie. He knew it was exactly the sort of secret that would land him on the Tithe, but he was also too honourable not to tell at least Lacha that the Seelie knew it. With his life between his teeth, Hyacinth chose to put his Court first. Lacha kept this secret too, finding his honour somehow striking. When Lacha became Queen, she did the best she could: she called off the affair, removed Hyacinth from a Knighthood spent trading in secrets, and chose not to Tithe him. Instead, she shared the secret and washed her hands of it. Though it hurt Hyacinth to no longer be a Knight, he appreciated the gift of his life. He then became a renowned herbalist for the Unseelie and distant friend of the Queen. When another Knight was Tithed in 1970 amidst the cold truce of the Courts, Lacha asked him to be a Knight again, since she could trust him to be honourable. Hyacinth accepted, and all has been well—until recently, when Hyacinth inferred who Camellia’s true father was during a conversation with Lacha. His face gave him away, and he knows that she knows that he knows. Hyacinth doesn’t want to be Tithed—especially not after finding his love, Elise—but he can’t ask the Queen to stay her hand twice.
GAME UPDATE 06/21: In 2018′s annual An Fidchell battle, Elise was chosen among the Elite 5 in the hopes of staying the Queen’s hand and preventing Hyacinth from being on the Tithe as was her wish. Unfortunately, Elise was killed by David Ventura. This both continues his danger on the Queen’s Tithe and makes his heartfelt loss acute. Now, to try and escape the Tithe next year, will he ingratiate himself again to Queen Lacha, or join Jasper’s Fox Rebellion?
Occupation
Knight & Bartender.
Knights are known for “the gentle art of letting someone have it your way.” They are the diplomats, the emissaries, the ambassadors between Courts. Though valuable assets, both their secret dealings and the propensity to shoot the messenger makes the job dangerous. Hyacinth goes to the Seelie Court on missions for the Queen; when not focused on a mission, Hyacinth’s a bartender at the Rookery and has their spy, Zinnia, reporting to him.
Connections
David: Hyacinth doesn’t know the extent of the effect of David’s wish, but assumes it was pretty thorough. That being said, he doesn’t care. Elise was willing to die to save Hyacinth’s life and that sort of love is rare and beautiful. Hyacinth will hunt David down and ruin his wish—ideally by luring him back into Playing once more.
Aster: The other bartender at the Rookery often with him, Hyacinth has begun a tentative friendship with the Alchemist’s Apprentice. Aster seems a little wide-eyed, despite all his edgy trappings, and Hyacinth has considered giving a guiding hand, knowing Malachite can be—complicated—to get along with.
Sorrel: Sorrel is a thorn in Hyacinth’s side. He doesn’t like disliking people, but Sorrel purposefully makes it difficult to get along with him. Hyacinth doesn’t know why Sorrel has it out for him, but he’s determined not to let whatever is up Sorrel’s ass affect his own missions or his relationship with the Seelie Court.
PLAYLIST 1. Chrysalis // 2. Alive // 3. Bloom

Hyacinth is portrayed by Alfred Enoch. The faceclaim is NEGOTIABLE. Hyacinth is currently OPEN and AVAILABLE for application.

It has a brief in-game FAQ as well as everything you’ll need to get started. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’re so looking forward to writing with you.
Jem, your portrayal of Gale is absolutely superb! You really captured his softness, his poet’s heart that proves he is not without weakness, but ultimately better for it. His fierce devotion to Lacha and Camellia coupled with his romantic nature and gentle care for humans brings a beautiful juxtaposition to a multifaceted character. We can’t wait to see you bring him to life and explore everything that he has to offer the Unseelie Court!

THE HAILSTORM // Lacha. Air Archfey: Snow Bunting. Unseelie Court.               Born in 1793. Living at Avalon Bowery, Apt. 10A.
Ruling Hand: Darkness. Right hand. A beacon-like power which creates a shadow screen through which no glamour can pass, enabling the Queen’s true sight.
Wild Hand: Desire. Left hand. When Lacha puts this hand on someone, she is able to read the true desires, in that moment, of whomever she is currently touching.
Personal Power: Muting; Lacha can still soundwaves in the air, rendering vocal noises silent in the room she’s in. Can be used as a blanket or to target one person.
KNOWN TRAITS // Independent, assertive, dedicated, discerning, strategic.
Tumblr media
Being born to grief and rejecting its offering. A legacy living in your blood, a bridge between worlds. The sound of a hailstorm. Knowing that if not watchful, iron rusts—and red isn’t your colour. Made for metals, for the strength of iron and steel where your backbone should be. The taste of copper. The sheen of a silver moon’s sliver. How too much light can blind you. That true seeing comes from being left in the darkness, discovering your own way home.
History
⇢ Trigger warnings: death, suicide mentions.
Lacha is a third-generation ruler, granddaughter of the first Unseelie Queen, though they never met. Her mother, Celia, let her emotions and desire to be liked cloud her judgement, which wreaked havoc on her rule—an issue that claimed the life of Celia’s firstborn, Eala, in the name of peace. During that hard-earned peace, Lacha was born, but Celia never really recovered from the loss of Eala and the hardships she’d endured on behalf of the Court, which never loved her as much as she’d hoped and worked for. When Lacha was 12, Celia drowned herself out of grief. That is part of the legacy Celia left behind: the knowledge that giving the people what they want can be just as dangerous as withholding. Lacha’s father, King Consort Tierney, raised her alone and acted as regent until she inherited the ruling power. He did his best to encourage in Lacha the fortitude, strategic thinking, and foresight he felt claimed the life of his late wife. He’d never intended for nor desired a sole Unseelie crown, but he did the best he could with both ruling and raising, giving both love and lessons in equal measure. Being brought up in this environment, Lacha mourned her mother but aimed to rule with a much stronger heart and cooler head. In 1850, Lacha’s ruling power came to hand and she ascended the Unseelie throne, beginning her reign.
It began in peace, and so at age 68, Lacha gave birth to Caora, with a strong traditional name. It was good for the stability of the Court, but Lacha refused to compromise her rule and wouldn’t name the father, though she legitimized Caora as a proper Princess with all rites and honours. Lacha’s first big trial as Queen came when World War I came. Initially, it was played like anything else: picking favourites, pitting sides, making bets, but escalated to the point where the Unseelie Court and Seelie Court were back at war against one another, renewing old blood feuds too easily. It seemed that the war wouldn’t stop among the humans until it stopped among the fey, and both Queen Lacha and King Adare didn’t want their new rule defined by so much loss of sacred fey life, so they followed tradition and Sacrificed their firstborn daughters to bring peace to the Courts in 1918. The end of the first World War followed soonafter. King Adare and Queen Lacha formed a fragile truce, relegating their competition and warlust to the game of Fidchell as they decided to follow the flow of immigration from Ireland to the United States, selecting New York City’s ley lines just in time for the Roaring ’20s. Though the world changed, Lacha continued to adapt and make the Unseelie Court strong and viable—even if some see her as intractable.
GAME UPDATE 07/17: For 2018′s annual An Fidchell battle, Lacha wagered the identity of Camellia’s father against Adare’s identifying the Seelie demifey twins’ mother. On June 13th, Gale came to owe a favour to King Adare, which complicated that wager, as it meant unveiling Gale for who he is would also reveal the boon of a favour Adare had earned. In her frustration, Lacha sent Gale to the Wandering Wood for a few days as punishment. On June 21st, the Unseelie lost; normally, Lacha would have made good on her wager that day after the game concluded, but the rebellion kicked up feyry fire which threw the event into chaos. Lacha revealed the identity of Gale on July 11th.
GAME UPDATE 09/11: Only July 27th, a blood moon and lunar eclipse happened; that night, both Courts lost the ability to perform glamour magic. On top of that, the body of an Unseelie fey was found—a blood relation to Lark—killed in the same style as the Seelie’s Eurya much earlier in the year, indicating a possible hunter. Lacha met with King Adare to work together against the hunter; he agreed on the terms that she re-accept Sorrel as Seelie Knight again and that Jasmine have priority access to the dwindling #99 supply [x]. She is also feeling jealous when Gale was voted to marry Gorta during the Lugnasad marriages and is reconsidering choosing him as Consort, but hasn’t yet decided.
Occupation
Queen & Proprietor.
Lacha’s primary role is being Queen; looking after the wellbeing of the Court, keeping it strong and healthy. That doesn’t only include the stewardship of the fey, but also maintaining her conduit with feywild magic. Part of that is having an heir to provide stability and peace, so that the Court can flourish. Lacha also owns and operates the Rookery, the speakeasy through which the addicting elixirs are sold to lure in humans into the feyry games.
Connections
Camellia: Camellia is Lacha’s second and only daughter, the heir, whom she loves and is training for eventual rule. Lacha is convinced that, should she need it, she can find another option to save her Court that doesn’t involve killing her daughter. She has an inkling Camellia is up to something, but isn’t too worried yet.
Gale: Lacha’s one-time love and secret relationship; whether this relationship is still ongoing is up to the players. Gale is the secret father of Camellia (though not of Caora). Lacha appreciates that she can show her soft side to Gale and knows he will keep her secrets safe. They are still on good terms and close confidants.
Malachite: One of Lacha’s most valuable assets and sometime friend, Malachite is important to the business venture that Lacha runs to entice humans into becoming pieces in her game. She flatters him because she requires him, though she also finds his erratic behavior entertaining.

THE GALLANT // Sorrel. Air fey: Robin. Seelie Court.               Born in 1945. Living at the Atlas, Apt. 09C.
Personal Power: Shield; Sorrel is able to create, at will, a forcefield out of the air in the shape of a knight’s shield, which deflects any magical physical attack.
KNOWN TRAITS // Charming, valiant, intrepid, smarmy, conceited.
Getting born six centuries too late. A steel horse revving in the moonlight. A craft beer flight between friends. Practicing a smile that would disarm modern dragons. A tailored suit as alluring as any armour. Perfectly coiffed hair. No one slicker, no one quicker. The sound of birdsong on the spring air. Using feathers in all of your decorating. Going out of your way to help your fellow man. Thinking outside the box. Playing darts and breaking hearts.
History
⇢ Trigger warnings: death mentions.
Sorrel’s family was once an Archfey line, though it was generations ago, and they’ve never forgotten it. Sorrel’s father was also a Seelie hero, helping the Guardians take down Seelie war traitors just before Sorrel’s birth. Ever since he was a child, he wanted to do something as notable as his father did, and he had his heart set on becoming a Knight. It was everything Sorrel ever wanted to be: dashing, chivalrous, persuasive. It didn’t hurt that Sorrel was born easy on the eyes, something he emphasized at any opportunity given. His parents advised against it, knowing Knights had notoriously short lives compared to other fey as they had a habit of winding up on the Tithe due to knowing or doing some secret thing. Sorrel didn’t care: he ascribed to live fast, die young, leave a ridiculously handsome corpse. The only trouble was, a Knight traditionally emulated parts of the other Court’s culture so as to not give insult when travelling there—and Sorrel had no intentions of doing that. For example, the Unseelie Knight, Hyacinth, was careful not to acquire any scars or tattoos to be in line with Seelie culture. However, this facet of Knighthood disgusted Sorrel, and even created a tension between the two Knights because Sorrel felt Hyacinth was trying to one-up him by being a more effective Knight.
When Sorrel isn’t running in the same circles as the Seelie celebrities with Garnet, or doing actual diplomacy per the instructions of the King, Sorrel enjoys using his Knighthood for its perks. There’s a reason so many of the feyry stories humans tell involve a maiden falling for a feyry Knight and Sorrel wasn’t about to pass up the opportunities to save ladies with his shield and then accept their gratitude. But even then, sometimes, that grew boring—Sorrel loved bedding and breaking hearts, to be sure, but if he could up the ante? All the better. After all, the only thing he liked better than that was ruining Hyacinth’s day. So at one point, Sorrel saved and then courted a human woman named Bette Ventura. He was utterly himself, save for that he said she could call him Hyacinth of the Unseelie. Sorrel’s only intentions had been to sour the dating scene for the other Knight once he broke things off with Bette. It was a butterfly effect situation; Bette was far more in love than he realized and he’d really hurt her. It turned out that after Sorrel left her, Bette went back to where they’d met: Oakenfold. It was easy for Bette to get exploited when she made it plain she wanted to become a Player to wish for Sorrel to love her—not understanding what she’d gotten herself into. Sorrel felt almost sorry for her when she died. Almost.
GAME UPDATE 07/31: Back in April, Sorrel disrespected Queen Lacha to the point where she revoked protection for him in Unseelie territories, in an effort to try to get him to be a better diplomat and more understanding of Unseelie ways. In punishment, King Adare sent Sorrel to the Arboretum for a week and an hour starting on May 1st. There has not been a lot of development since; how the muse is after the fact is up to you. To get into the swing of things, it would be good to petition the Queen for re-acceptance so you can continue to do your job and return to good standing with the King.
Occupation
Knight & Waiter.
Knights are known for “the gentle art of letting someone have it your way.” They are the diplomats, the emissaries, the ambassadors between Courts. Though valuable assets, both their secret dealings and the propensity to shoot the messenger makes the job dangerous. Sorrel goes to the Unseelie Court on missions for the King; when not focused on a mission, Sorrel’s a waiter at Oakenfold and has their spy, Willow, reporting to him.
Connections
Zinnia: Sorrel’s closest friend, she doesn’t mind that he can be pretentious and entitled. She seems to actually enjoy his chivalry, at least when it comes to buying her rounds of beers and whatever other nonsense they get up to. Sorrel feels he can fully be his true self around her and she’d appreciate him anyway.
Garnet: Sorrel looks up to Garnet, as she’s everything he feels his family used to be like, and still aims to be. There’s a kinship there, but Garnet still makes him nervous in some ways, like he can’t believe the Garnet really wants to be friends with him. All the same, Sorrel is beyond stoked to be her actual friend and travel in her circle.
David: When Sorrel learned that another effect of his Hyacinth impersonation involved Bette having a vengeful little brother, Sorrel began crisis management. He reinforced his half-truths and has doubled-down on blaming the Unseelie for David’s sister’s death, managing to trick David into becoming a Seelie Player.
PLAYLIST 1. Prodigal Son // 2. Party Like a Rockstar // 3. Runaway Baby
Tumblr media
Sorrel is portrayed by Peter Gadiot. The faceclaim is NEGOTIABLE. Sorrel is currently TAKEN by Rose and not available for application.
