So I have been seeing a lot of people talking about plot lines and the necessity of them so I figured I would give my two sense

Char- She was brought into the story line to show that Maya was choosing to be with Lola, that she accepts who and how she is and despite that she wants to be with her. 

Tiff- (this one might be long) tiff is a plot that is meant to show case several different things. 1) to show lola’s negative attitude toward people from the very beginning can have a lasting impact aka the feud between the two or maya telling lola that posting things about tiff will make it worse hence this mornings clip 2) to showcase that lola needed a group to belong two, since the end of season 5 we have seen her staring at the OG crew in a sort of envious and desiring look. What I mean by that is that she knows she wants some where to belong she wants people who will be there for her like they are for Daphne and each other. 3) to get lola to another school to be with Lafamex so that she can achieve that sense of belonging 

ED- this plot line was both to give us a insight into the vilda character as a work around but also to help rebuild the relationship between Lola and Daph. 

Elliot- elliot has always been lucases story line his whole exsitance is for Lucas. However, the way people love him and the Evan character made the show runners want to do a story line about him just like with daph. Lola and elliot are so very similar, there relationship although currently in shambles is one of mutual understanding almost like siblings. Which is a contrast to daph and lola they are very much different from each other. 

Maya- This season is an evan and vilda season told through a new character. Both of these characters are being shaped through lola and if you are doing an evan character you must have a lucas. Maya is also important to give lola a reason to change. You can understand this better by listening to the moments when people say she is just like her mom or her smile reminds daph of how her mom was happy with lolas bio dad. Both lola and her mom are flawed people but they are very much capable of love. Although lolas mother couldn't quite express that after she lost her love, lola is being given the chance to do what her mother couldn’t (even if it wasnt her fault completely). 

Addiction- I don’t think i have to go to in depth here, every main must have a shame and this is a major one of Lola’s. Yes she has other shames like feeling like she doesn't exist or belong or that she is a problem but this is the big one. 

Lafam- i already touched on this during the Tiff section so i wont re emphasis it. 

Elu drama- David said we would see a darker side of Elliot and that lucas and elliot would both learn what minute by minute really means. For the most part we have always seen him happy and in love with lucas. But we also know that since season 3 he still feels shame about his bipolar and its toll on his relationship with anyone tbh. even if we dont get an on screen resolution (which for everyone's sake I hope we do) we will see some sort of resolution to his insecurity. What happened this past weekend was to show that not only can peoples words can become reality but to show that Lola’s actions can really have a negative effect on everyone around her even if she is in pain herself. 

Sexual Assault- although this did happen i think the only purpose for it was to show lola that she can’t running to these people who don’t care about her even if she thinks it will make her happy. Because in the end she is putting herself in situations where she could be seriously harmed by others. Also this plot line is here to further the bond between elliot and lola. 

Bennytaxi- honestly i got nothing lol I will reserve my opinion until i have more information. 

Bio dad- this ties into lola no feeling like she is wanted or loved or her constant battle to accept Thiery as her father figure. I also think this was another way to showcase some of the resolution of her feelings toward her mother. 

Conclusion

I know this has been a long post but I have been seeing a lot of convo about the different story lines and whether or not they were needed. Do i think Skam Fr could have shown these things in different ways or with less YES! But I think the complexity of what David and Co set out to do at the onset of this season made them take the long route around. In there minds this was the last season so they wanted to cover what was important to fans that David had heard from but also the Loyal fans that have fallen in love with elu and to give a very central character her own sort of arc. I have faith that they will give us a satisfying ending to the season but idk if they can satisfy long time fans of the show.
