Orochimaru x Reader

Synopsis: Mitsuki wasn't allowed to be in the lab, more for his safety than anything else. But when he breaks something with you not around, how will his father react instead?

A crash sounded out in the lab causing Orochimaru to jump. His eyes scanned around the room, trying to figure out what it was that broke. More importantly, how did it break?

"Uh oh," a small voice called out.

Orochimaru relaxed a little knowing that it was his toddler's fault but tensed up when he realized you were nowhere in sight. "Suki. Where's mama?" Orochimaru called out as he walked swiftly to the toddler. He tried his best to sound soft and kind, but he knew his words sounded sharp.

Rounding the corner, he saw Mitsuki standing there with his hands behind his back, pale eyes taking in the way the shards of glass scattered along the laminated tile. His eyes flicked up to his father's and while he knew his father wouldn't yell, he couldn't help but feel his body shake in fear.

Orochimaru tsk'd quietly to himself at the sight of his son shaking, but moved slowly towards him anyway in fear of making him cry. "It's okay. It was an accident" Orochimaru stated, hand coming down to pat softly onto the child's small head. He knelt then to start gathering up the larger pieces, "Can you go get the broom for me?"

Mitsuki nodded before racing off towards the broom in the corner, excited to help his father even if it was for cleaning up the mess he made. "Suki?!" Orochimaru's head shot up as he heard your panicked calls from the hallway.

"He's in here my love"

Within seconds, you appeared in the doorway. Hair messy and face contorted into one of pure panic until your eyes settled on the child. A sigh of relief flew from your lips as you scooped the child up from the floor, letting the broom fall from his hands in the process. It went tumbling down, knocking over a few more glasses in its wake. More shattering sounded out but you didn't care as you cuddled deeper into the toddler.

"Don't you dare run from me like that again! I was worried sick!"

Orochimaru sighed quietly as he took in the 5 beakers that you broke. While the child looked like him, Mitsuki's coordination skills were all you. "You should be more careful" he muttered as he stood and threw away the large pieces of glass. Your cheeks heated up at his statement as you finally looked down at the mess you had made.

Shooting a sheepish smile his way, you set Mitsuki down on the lab table and bent down to pick up the broom. "Sorry about that-"

Orochimaru caught the broom from you as you straightened out. "No need. Are you hurt?" It didn't matter how long you two had been together, when he was this close to you you always lost your cool. He smirked at your flustered face, he figured it was payment for him cleaning up after you.

"No..." your eyes trailed to Mitsuki and landed on the hand that he was hiding. "Mitsu..." you started, sidestepping Orochimaru to get closer to your son. He wouldn't look at you, and you knew why.

"Let me see it" you stated firmly and finally he brought his hand out from behind his back. You hissed at the cut on his palm, it would heal but you knew it had to have hurt like hell.

"Oh, honey" you whispered pitifully before looking at Orochimaru with pleading eyes. While he hasn't used his medical ninjutsu in a long time, this was something he could fix with little to no effort. Orochimaru cocked his head before stepping forward and grabbing the child's hand. Light flew from his fingers and ghosted above the cut which caused Mitsuki to whimper as the skin mended itself. But it was over soon and all that was left to fix were the two messes that you and your son caused.

Orochimaru looked at you before turning back to Mitsuki, now that the boy was old enough Orochimaru figured he could learn to be careful in the lab. "Now Mitsuki-"

"Gentler" you cut in, knowing that the tone he was going to take wouldn't help.

Orochimaru nodded before clearing his throat. "Mitsuki, you have to be careful when you're in here. As you can see, it's very easy to get hurt and I don't want that to happen. Can you promise to be more careful next time?"

Mitsukis eyes were wide at just how gentle his father sounded. He looked at you over his father's shoulder, confusion evident on his face. You nodded in a way that encouraged him to answer, this was indeed his father. It wasn't a trap. "Yes, Father" Mitsuki stated finally.

Orochimaru smiled before pressing a kiss to the top of his forehead. "Now why don't you go play outside with your mother? I hear it's a beautiful day outside?"

Mitsuki agreed and hopped down from the table. He grabbed your hand and began pulling you out, but before he could pull you out of the room entirely, you threw a loving glance over your shoulder. You were so proud of Maru for becoming such a kind person, even if it was just to you and Mitsuki.

The lab door closing left Orochimaru once more in silence and he sighed at the state of his lab. 'It was worth it though' he thought as he bent down to sweet up the glass. Because without the two of you, there would be no mess for him to clean up.

And that is what he loved the most.

Nothing “new” really this week, but I went back to reworking some old writing, so enjoy one of my favorite moments my og girlies, Jayde x Nadya, have during their second date

A humble town nestled at the base of the mountains that The Lodge remained safely hidden. It was always fairly quiet, just as Jayde preferred it. There were no large crowds or tourists. All of the businesses and markets relied primarily on the locals to keep afloat. The crime rate was practically nonexistent. Maybe the quaint size made it harder for people like her to blend in, but that also meant that any threats sniffing around definitely wouldn’t go unnoticed, either. Even Nadya, in her calm and approachable demeanor, turned a few heads as the two of them walked down the main street simply because she was still a new face. If Jayde ever felt unsure about their safety, she needed only to tune her ears to the gossip around town and they would tell her everything she should to know. 

Jayde kept a close eye on the human beside her. A chill in the air made Nadya hold the cup of coffee in her hands a little tighter. Of course, Jayde also noticed the nip in the air, but it didn't affect her the same way as it did humans - a fact she had never given much consideration before. Just as Jayde pondered the etiquette of offering one’s coat, they approached a store that made Nadya’s expression brighten up like a Christmas tree.

A small, excited gasp escaped her lips as she grabbed Jayde’s arm to halt their pace. “Is that a bookstore?” 

“Sure is,” Jayde confirmed with a broad grin. The little hole in the wall had been the precise reason she led them in this direction. 

“Do you think we can go inside for a minute?” she asked hopefully. 

“Lead the way.” 

The local bookstore mostly sold used items - novels so old and loved that a lot of their covers had been taped and laminated in an effort to hold them together. It gave the interior a slightly musty smell that wasn’t too unpleasant for Jayde the more they explored. Literature in any form wasn’t typically something that held the wolf's interest for long, but she felt thoroughly content with following Nadya around. Especially after she put on her glasses. The simple image always gave Jayde heart palpitations no matter how many times she saw it. 

It became pretty evident right away that they would be in the shop for a lot longer than a minute. Nadya seemed to want to give each section an equal amount of attention. The tips of her fingers must have touched the spine of every book on every shelf. Some garnered her attention enough to be pulled out and studied in closer inspection, while others only required an adorable head tilt to read the titles. 

Bearing witness to her intricate ritual of picking out novels only fueled Jayde’s infatuation. She found herself inching closer and closer so that she would not miss a second of it. That’s when she noticed something. 

Nadya was completely distracted by everything she absorbed, not noticing the werewolf shifting towards her. Or so Jayde thought. 

Thump, thump, thump...

The human’s heart pumped at a steady pace to fuel the energy coursing through her veins, but then Jayde hovered just a few inches from her and got the urge to wrap her arm around Nadya’s lower back. 

Thump, thump–thump, thump, thump–thump...

The scent of her nerves prickled at the rest of Jayde’s senses, making her hesitate. It wasn’t like she hadn't heard that stutter many times before. It wasn’t like Nadya didn’t make her heartbeat flutter in the same exact way. But after the night before – when things got a little too intimate before Nadya was ready – Jayde found that differentiating between making her excited and making her uncomfortable was slightly more difficult to gauge. Yes, Nadya had been the one to ask her to stay the night. They had woken up in each other’s arms without any doubts. Yet that uneven drumming in Nadya’s chest echoed in Jayde’s ears. 

“Can I ask you something?” 

Nadya tore her eyes away from the back of a book to look up at her. “Of course.”

“So, I’m pretty… physical,” Jayde stated. 

There was a painfully long pause and then Nadya blinked. “Is that your question..?” 

Realizing that her brain had just buffered, Jayde snapped back into focus. “Oh, uh, no. No, I mean that I want to touch you.” She sighed as soon as she heard herself. It seemed like any ability to properly communicate completely abandoned her. The way Nadya gazed so sweetly at her with those brown doe eyes of hers did not help the situation at all. “Shit, that sounded weird. I want to be… uh, closer… sometimes. More than sometimes. And I-I do want to touch you, it’s just… I don’t know exactly how.” 

Nadya chewed on her bottom lip for a moment with a thoughtful furrow in her brow. “You want to have sex with me, is that what you’re saying?” 

“No,” Jayde blurted out. “Well, yes, but that’s not what I’m talking –” That’s when she noticed a smirk slowly tugging at the corners of Nadya’s mouth. She’s screwing with me, Jayde thought as she felt embarrassment flush across her cheeks. I’m making a goddamn fool of myself. “Quit smiling at me,” Jayde complained with a chuckle. “I can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.” 

“You make it so easy sometimes,” Nadya teased with an affectionate shoulder bump. “It makes me feel better.” 

“Okay.” Jayde laughed again. “Let me start over.” 

“You have the floor.”

Jayde took a beat to get her thoughts in order, though it was so hard not to get lost in the soft, patient expression on her beloved human. “I know I make you nervous, but the line between good nervous and bad nervous gets blurred. I’m having a hard time telling the difference with you.” 

Nadya’s eyes tracked all over her features curiously. “How do you know I’m nervous?” 

That was an easy question to answer. “I can sense a lot, even the smallest changes. Like the way your heart beats. Or your breathing. Or your scent.” Focusing on those things now started to help her regain composure. “I’d say I look out for it, but the truth is, it’s something I’ve always noticed when it comes to you.” 

Nadya stared at her silently for enough seconds that Jayde worried she had said the wrong thing again, but then the brunette’s body swayed towards her ever so slightly as she muttered, “That’s helpful.” 

“It is when I know what I’m sensing. Which brings me to the point that I’ve been taking fucking forever to get to.” The two of them had been speaking in hushed tones while in the small store, but Jayde still glanced around for any potential witnesses to their private conversation. Relieved to find no one besides the older woman behind the counter, she continued. “Can you give me, like, a set of boundaries?” 

“Like what?” 

“Well…” She shifted anxiously on her feet. “I get the urge to grab your hand and hold you and kiss you a lot. I know that anything sexual isn’t very comfortable for you yet, but I don’t want you to have to endure something like my hand on your hip a certain way because you feel like you have to.” 

Nadya’s expression became hurt. “You think I have to endure you?” 

“No, I don’t think that,” Jayde quickly assured. “I just want us to go at your pace.”

Nadya sighed and returned the book in her hand back to the shelf. Then she plucked the coffee cup from Jayde’s hand and set it down next to hers with the books. “Can I be honest?” 

Jayde nodded her on. “Preferably.” 

“The line is blurred for you, but I’m still trying to figure out where the line for me even is. I have no idea what I’m doing, Jay. I just know that I want to be with you. So…” Nadya reached for her and their fingers laced together. “If you want to grab my hand, grab my hand. If you want to hold me…” After her thumb brushed over Jayde’s scarred knuckles, she brought her hand up and placed it on her waist, pulling herself closer. Jayde held her breath as her skin tingled all the way up arm. “Hold me. If you want to kiss me…” 

Jayde was completely entranced by Nadya’s voice, how it adopted a gentle tone smooth enough to ensure that no one else besides her could hear, even if there were others around. The heat of the human’s breath beckoned her to lean in – invited her to bask in the girl's intoxicating presence. Once their lips touched, a sparking sensation raced throughout every nerve ending in Jayde’s body and she released a breathless gasp of relief. The hand Nadya still held in place at her side squeezed her hip to pull her even closer, while Jayde’s other hand came up to cup her cheek. She risked parting her lips to deepen the kiss for just a moment and was rewarded by a pleased hum reverberating in Nadya’s chest. 

Before she could get too consumed by the sensations, Jayde pulled back to rest her forehead against her beloved human’s. Even doing something as simple as breathing with her felt incredible. It had the young werewolf convinced that she didn’t know a damn thing about love before this girl came around. 

“If you’re not sure… I want you to try,” Nadya said. 

“How about I ask first?”

“I want you to try,” Nadya repeated and leaned back, the color of her irises were as warm and soft as the rest of her. Jayde was utterly smitten. “If I don’t like something, I’ll tell you.”

Apprehension lingered at the back of her mind. “You’re sure you’re okay with that?”

A sweet smile brightened her face. “Don’t feel like you have to walk on eggshells around me, Jay. I trust you. I want you to do whatever you want, I just need some time to catch up to your level.” 

Those words meant more to Jayde than she could ever express. She never wanted to break the trust Nadya had in her. Jayde tucked a strand of light brown hair behind her ear and caressed her cheek, enjoying the softness of her skin. Then she planted a gentle kiss on her forehead to show her how much she appreciated this talk. “Take all the time you need, Nadya,” she whispered. 

Nadya gifted her a grateful peck. “I really like you.” 

“Wow, you’re throwing big L words around,” Jayde teased. 

“Shut up,” the human laughed, pushing her away playfully.

A smirk remained on Jayde’s face and she laughed with her, motioning to the bookshelf beside them. “So, how many of these are we taking back with us?”

“Just this one.” Nadya picked up the book she had a few minutes earlier, giving her an innocent look. When Jayde squinted suspiciously, she relented. “Okay, maybe a few others too. I’ve narrowed it down, at least.” 

Jayde took the book out of her hands and prepared herself to bear the inevitable stack. She rolled her eyes, but couldn’t think of a more noble purpose for her supernatural strength. “I’ll just keep following you, then. Let me know what else I can carry.” 

“God, where have you been all my life?” Nadya asked as she excitedly raced to another section.

Sup I'm just the local GNC gay tech installer and when someone was like "Vash as a plant engineer!!!" I loved it because this is something I can ACTUALLY contribute to. Engineers and installers/mechanics are different careers and do different things but the image I see is closer to my job than people think lmao

He started wearing black because he kept forgetting sharpies and pens in his pockets when tossing his clothes in the washer. They all started out in white T-shirts and alas, they never stay that way

He knows EXACTLY how long his index finger is and the length of the middle part of his finger (trying to get to a tape measure when it's on the otherside of the site and you forgot it? Improv time but you still want to be mostly accurate) (my middle bit of the index finger is 1 1/4 inches long)

Box and wire cutters are part of the FIT you don't UNDERSTAND

No he doesn't need to collect those extra screws and bolts but WHAT IF ANOTHER SITE NEEDS THEM??? Doesn't matter that he already has a gallon container of those exact screws YOU NEVER KNOW. (His pockets are ALWAYS full of nuts and bolts and screws, even though if he squats sometimes they stab his leg)

It’s the end of the fiscal year. Hunting season has begun.

Ultimately, it all kicked off with the invention of the “workplace transparency plan.” As ad revenue stagnated, social platforms instead offered corporate clients access to their employees’ private messages. For a small subscription fee, employers could learn who their workers were communicating with and retaliate as they saw fit.

Within months, an entire industry of talent recruiters found themselves stonewalled by a terrified workforce. With electronic communication lost to them, the recruiters — far behind on their quotas — resorted to more drastic methods.

Strive Solutions is a midsize software company on the third floor of a converted building in the old warehouse district. Its two vintage elevators are too old to support ID card readers, so a pair of security doors flanking the reception area are all that stand between potential intruders and Strive’s inner sanctum.

A few minutes past 3:00 in the afternoon, both elevators open and the mob piles out.

Runners always raid in force, the better to overwhelm any on-site security. Where once the typical recruiter was a bland, nonthreatening thirtysomething in business-casual pastels, now they trend toward linebackers’ builds and stab vests. Those who aren’t the general size and shape of a refrigerator are the most dangerous of all — quick, clever, and vicious.

Barry Duboc, like most of his colleagues, goes for the easy money: junior employees who are easily seduced by playground offices and extravagant launch parties, and are easily intimidated into signing anything put in front of them. Clients don’t pay much for cannon fodder like this, but Barry makes up the difference in volume.

Inside a military surplus document holder, its metal edges filed razor sharp, Barry carries photos of his client’s break lounge — stuffed wall-to-wall with vintage arcade games — and a laminated copy of their dense recreational calendar. Before long he’s herded a sizable number of impressionable young programmers away from the safety of their fellows.

Shelly bursts into the room with a six-figure contract and her client’s novel-length Diversity & Inclusion policy. If the architect took the time to actually read the policy, she’d quickly realize it was crafted with great care to serve as a flawless legal and political shield while entitling the company’s employees to no actual protection or recourse from discrimination. But time isn’t a luxury she has anymore.

She winds up at the center of a tug of war between Shelly and the HR manager, whose brightly painted nails carve deep lines into the architect’s arm as Shelly drags her from the room.

Barry ushers his pack of recruits back through reception, but the elevators take precious seconds to arrive and more to depart. Strive’s two security guards beat several of the defecting juniors unconscious before they can escape, and a particularly zealous manager drags another from the elevator as the doors close.

Tom knows better, and heads for the stairs; unfortunately, the route to the stairwell leads past Strive’s executive suite. He loses one of his recruits to a flying tackle from the COO, who adorns his desk with high school football trophies.

Shelly cased the office in advance. She leads the architect to an old fire escape at the far end of the floor, near the server room. The windows are locked, but a quick blow from Shelly’s collapsible baton and they’re both home free, clambering down the side of the building.

As quickly as it started, it’s all over.

Of the dozens of workstations arrayed throughout the Pit, almost half now sit empty. Broken glass and loose papers lie scattered across the floor, alongside a few office chairs knocked over in the chaos. Strive’s remaining workers peer uncertainly from beneath their desks.

Eventually, in 2025, the Whittens were discovered to have become the victims of a Dobhar-chú, a blood-thirsty creature that resembles a cross between a hound and a giant otter (or fish) and haunts the waters (and the land) of Ireland. 

Benedict doesn’t have any memories of his father, only the stories that his uncle tells and the old photographs. Despite knowing how completely irrational it is, Benedict holds some resentment towards his father for disappearing. He knows, logically by all accounts, that his father didn’t leave by choice, but it’s hard to grapple with that emotionally.

Mother: Eleanora Susan Whitten [deceased, 1967-1997]

Born on May 30, 1967, Eleanora was the only child of Jasper and Nancy Blythe. Growing up on the outskirts of London, Eleanora had a good childhood, full of love. She had a good relationship with her parents, who did their best to provide her with the best possible childhood. At the age of 18, Eleanora began attending a university in London, studying history with a concentration in women’s history. She met Edward Whitten during her third year, when he was a sort of exchange student in his fourth year. They became friends quite quickly, sharing their love for different aspects of history. Eleanora was secretly quite pleased when Edward continued on with his PhD at her university. She also pursued a PhD.

Eleanora began dating Edward when she was twenty-four and they dated for two years before marrying in 1993. They waited until after they had achieved their PhDs to have children and on February 28, 1997, their twin sons, Jack Edward and Benedict Jasper, were born. Eleanora adored her sons and doted on them as well as she could. 

Unfortunately, Eleanora didn’t get to have as much time with her sons. Alongside her husband, Eleanora disappeared in November of 1997. It was discovered in 2025 that she was a victim of a Dobhar-cú.

Benedict has no memories of his mother, only the old photographs and his uncle’s stories. He also holds some resentment towards her for disappearing, despite being frustrated that he feels that way.

Brother: Jack Edward Whitten

Born at 10:59 pm on February 28, 1997, Jack is the eldest son of Edward and Eleanora Whitten, seventeen minutes older than Benedict, and a Slytherin. They have a good relationship and are quite close. However, Ben and Jack bicker a lot, mostly over meaningless things. Ben knows that Jack will always have his back and he knows that he can count on his brother.

Uncle: Robert George Whitten 

Born on July 19, 1962, Robert was the first son of George and Mary Whitten and the older brother of Benedict’s father, Edward. Robert took in Ben and his twin brother, Jack, after their parents disappeared. Robert is also the father of Benedict’s cousins, Darcy, Thea, and Clary. Robert is a kind man with the patience of a saint.

Benedict has a good relationship with his uncle. It’s a little distant, as they’re very different people, but they do have things that they can do together. Ben knows that he can count on his uncle for anything, though.

Aunt: Mai Louise Whitten née Daniels [deceased, 1965-2010]

Born on May 15, 1965, Mai is the adopted daughter of Clarence and Emily Daniels and the wife of Jack’s uncle Robert. Mai, along with her husband, took in her nephews when their parents disappeared. Mai is also the mother of Jack’s cousins, Darcy, Thea, and Clary. Mai had a good heart and a lot of patience. Unfortunately in 2010, Mai suffered a fatal stroke when an aneurysm that she had always had burst.

Benedict has a good, albeit distant, relationship with his aunt. They never quite clicked for some reason, but Ben knew that he could count on his aunt. He was hurt and shocked by her sudden death, which made him withdraw and become a little more standoffish for a few months.

Cousin: Darcy Mai Whitten 

Born on January 17, 1993, Darcy is the eldest daughter of Robert and Mai Whitten, four years older than Jack. Darcy is a muggle and has a very kind heart with a desire to help people. She enjoys being around others and was a fixture at the Lotus Clover’s check-in desk. 

Benedict has a good relationship with his cousin, although they’ve never been very close. They’re very different in personality, as Darcy prefers social gatherings and Ben doesn’t. However, Benedict knows that he can count on his cousins for anything. After all, she’s like an older sister to him.

Born on May 29, 1997, Thea was the middle daughter of Mai and Robert Whitten, three months younger than Benedict, and a Gryffindor. Ben has a good relationship with his cousin. They’re not overly close and probably have the most distant relationship, but they get along quite well. Ben knows that he can count on Thea for anything.

Born on October 19, 2002, Clary is the youngest daughter of Robert and Mai Whitten, five years younger than Benedict. Clary is a muggle and more similar in personality to Benedict than Jack or her sisters. She doesn’t love being surrounded by people, but she does love the Lotus Clover and is the one to continue running the bed and breakfast after Robert retires. 

Benedict has a good relationship with his younger cousin. They get along quite well and Ben can often be found helping Clary with her homework. He enjoys spending time with her, even if they aren’t overly close either. Ben knows that he can count on Clary for anything.

Childhood: 

Born at 11:16 pm on February 28, 1997, Benedict George Whitten was the first child born to Edward and Eleanora Whitten, joining his twin brother, Jack Edward, who had been born seventeen minutes earlier at 10:59 pm. The first eight months or so of Benedict’s life were pretty happy and calm. Everything changed, though, in November of 1997 when his parents disappeared without a trace. From that point on, Benedict and his brother were raised by their father’s older brother, Robert, and their aunt, Mai, alongside their cousins, Darcy (b. January 17, 1993), Thea (b. May 29, 1997), and Clary (b. October 19, 2002). 

Growing up at a bed and breakfast was an interesting experience and it gave Benedict a good childhood, even though there weren’t always the vacations and such that his school friends went on. At the age of 15 months, Ben had open heart surgery in order to close a small-ish congenital hole in his heart. 

Hogwarts Years:

Upon starting Hogwarts, Benedict was sorted into Ravenclaw. He found his niche in the house quite quickly and was startled when he let Sage Carridan in rather quickly, as she was the first non-relative that Ben actually opened himself up to. In his second year, he joined the Ravenclaw quidditch team where he played the position of seeker. He enjoyed his time at Hogwarts. 

Adulthood:

After graduating from Hogwarts, Benedict began working as an archivist for the ministry of magic. He was not exactly thrilled with the work, and when, at the age of 26, he was offered a position as the curator for a new wizarding natural history museum, Ben jumped at it. He would later discover that the position came about because Jack, Sage, Thea, and Noa recommended him for the position as Jack’s boss had first brought it up.

When Benedict was 28, his brother suggested that they hire an investigator to discover what had happened to their parents all those years ago. In late 2025, it was discovered that Edward and Eleanora were the victims of a Dobhar-chú. This discovery settled something inside of Benedict, which enabled him to be a better father to his children.

Old Age:

Benedict retired at the age of 92 and devoted the remainder of his life to his family. He traveled some, visiting places that he’d never spent much time seeing.

Death: 

Benedict passed away in his sleep at the age of 120. He had lived a long and fulfilled life.

Trivia:

Benedict had open heart surgery at 15 months old as he had a Ventricular Septal Defect, or a hole between the chambers of the lower heart. The hole was big enough that it had to be closed surgically and small enough that it wasn’t immediately life threatening.

Benedict is usually quite stoic and tends to bottle up his emotions. He’s not an easy person to get to know because of the walls that he has built up. 

Benedict is an outdoorsman. Being outside and doing things helps Ben clear his mind and stop overthinking things. 

Benedict is usually the voice of reason amongst his cousin and brother. He’s the only one that actually seems to consistently think before acting and that means that he’s going to stop Jack and Thea before things get more intense.
