#2317 - Veronica hookeriana - Hooker's Speedwell
AKA Veronica olsenii, Parahebe hookeriana, and Parahebe olsenii.
Named after Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817-1911) - a world famous botanist who travelled on the Ross Antarctic expedition of 1839 wrote “Handbook of New Zealand Flora” published in 1864-67 describing many specimens sent to Kew.
Endemic to the North Island, in open alpine areas including scree, fellfields where frost-thaw cycles uproot most plants, lavafields, banks, and rock outcrops.
Mount Ruapehu, North Island Volcanic Plateau, New Zealand

Chapter 22 - Part 3
If you need it, use Cherrim's Gondola to warp back to Part 1 and/or Part 2.
We left off on Combusken being the younger sibling in a back-of-the-car squabble ("Yeah, but he started it!"):
"We thought you were the bad guys..."
(Huge shoutout to BeastnUnicorn btw - her own version of Randomized Sky absolutely enamored me!)
This is the face of someone who regrets everything.
Okay, fair enough, fair enough. I mean, Pichu basically did this:
FINALLY, someone who recognizes this world's tendency towards trigger happiness!
Only... halfway...? *looks at the stopwatch approaching the two-hour mark*
Yeah, how weird that the edgy loner would just book it the moment the opportunity presented itself, haha... 😒
*6th Station Pass: Gigantic Springs*
Literally laughed out loud when I saw this. An entire tile! Well gee, thanks for leading me on like that.
Yet another Monster House I took a picture of for some... reason. (Gosh darn it.)
So... are these bases gonna remain after we're all done climbing the mountain or...? Like who's gonna staff them?
Anyway, next up is the 7th Station Pass, AKA Witty Lavafields! At some point along the way, we picked up a Gracidea Flower. Given that Shaymin was replaced with Onix (both functionally and in the item description), I decided to give it a try and see what would happen...
Boo! Boring. But also really interesting since I recently found proof it won't work on Shaymin, either. So then... when does it work?
AND I WILL THANK THE LORD ARCEUS FOREVER FOR THE BLESSINGS PROVIDED BY THESE ITEMS, AMEN!
Okay, I DO remember why I saved this one. I entered the tile above the stairs when the MH triggered, so in theory I only had to move down by one. But I couldn't survive long enough to actually get to the Proceed option.
😂 This about sums it up, yeah.
The one and only Secret Room I found during the entire climb despite them being "more common" here. Though tbf, their chances probably got randomized like everything else.
*dramatic lighting* "The war-torn soldiers, barely escaping with their lives, hoped to seek refuge in this secluded place... But here, too, did they hear the popping of shell bursts, the rumbling of tanks, the agonized screams of wounded men as they lay dying on the battlefield... For no clearing was truly safe from the Second Horse of the Apocalypse..."
WAIT PICHU I WAS ONLY BEING DRAMATIC, NO NEED TO TAKE THIS SO SERIOUSLY-
(Also wow does that karma strike back quickly #yikes)
Yup, I don't think this would qualify as a "little thing"...
Bonus:
WHHHHHYYYYYY???!!!
(Click here to speed through the 8th station pass, Ludicrous Heath, and find the Sad Fen Expert in Part 4.)

“Fury”, “drop” and “burn” for the word asks
Fury (wouldn't it be funny if I was writing an MCU fic rn?)
Quizzy: growls with teeth bared, eyes blaze brighter in fury, nostrils flaring
(that's the only use of it anywhere, oof)
Drop
“You may be nothing next to the Sith, but you are vigorous. I will give you that. I would think you have exhausted yourself by now.”
Quizzy: starts off casual “Yes, well, I did spend an entire month in the lavafields of Mustafar after I dropped myself into an exploding hyperdrive.”
(challenge: guess who he's talking to)
Burn
Sixth Sister: on hologram with Vader "The Grand Inquisitor has returned, my lord."
Vader: "So he lives?"
Sixth Sister: "He does."
Vader: "What is his condition?"
Sixth Sister: uncertain "He didn't say. But he has been badly burned and [...]. I believe that he was stranded on Mustafar's surface for some time."
Vader: "Indeed. And his state of mind?"
Sixth Sister: "He remains sound in mind, my lord."
Vader: "Good. Prepare for my arrival. I wish to greet him personally."

Went on an adventure today to the rim rock trail in Coldstream, BC, about 20 mins from Vernon. A bit of a jaunt up the first bit but it levels out and becomes a lovely trail with beautiful views and a very neat lava field! You can scramble down into the lava field and walk through there. With the dog and the rain, we decided it was best not to today. We love what the Okanagan has to offer for outdoor living! Can't wait to do this one again, maybe without the doggo and walk through the lava field. . . . . . . . . . #dynamicduo #adventure #doggo #dogsofinstagram #germanshepherdsofinstagram #gsdofinstagram #outdooradventures #outdoors #okanagan #northokanagan #lava #lavafield #weloveourlife #vernontourism #travelphotocourse https://www.instagram.com/p/CUWCr8gP94R/?utm_medium=tumblr
