💎Seventeen as TCF/LCF Characters [4/13]
😺Moon Junhui as Clopeh Sekka😺
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They look dignified at first;
Exhibit A:
Clopeh was like a traditional knight of a fantasy novel with white hair and a handsome appearance... He is very handsome and looks like a stereotypical neat and righteous knight. He has a very strong, muscled body (Source: Trash of the Count's Family Wiki).
Exhibit B:

But... They be crazy – PSYCHOs, if you will.
Exhibit A:
Clopeh Sekka is a deranged person, obsessing over becoming a living legend to an extreme extent (Source: Trash of the Count's Family Wiki).
“There is a monster, but we have a hero, a hero who is pretty much a god.”
“It is okay. There is no need to fear. I have faith. In my hero, the future legend.”
“With absolute faith. I will follow the path of someone who is even greater than the gods.”
“…A world without young master Cale-nim. A world without a hero is only despair.”
“As expected, the true legend can surpass time and space. Even the gods cannot do anything about it.”
“My name is Clopeh Sekka, and I am the Guardian Knight of the Paerun Kingdom. I am here to calm the chaos in this world following Cale-nim’s will.”
Exhibit B:

(^^you can't tell me you don't here Clopeh laughing here^^) (if you would also notice, in the video, Jun used a special ability that he doesn't actually have. Sounds familiar? *SPOILER* Yup! Clopeh also did that. He tricked people into thinking he has an ancient power to control the wyverns when in actuality, he does not have that power)
They can act. Clopeh has been acting since (I imagine) he have discovered the truth about his household. He has acted like a dignified knight, hiding his snake-like personality. On the other hand, Jun has been acting since he was three. I definitely think he can act like Clopeh.

How to get Cale to call you Hyung
Here is the secret.... Be a crazy rich guy.
...No, really, that's it. Cale just called Clopeh Sekka his Hyung. They were on a stealth mission, but still. What a world we live in!
😂😂😂
(Also: from now on, Pope Clopeh shall also be known as Bribe King. Hand that man a crown right now!)

Record really is such an integral part of Kim Rok Soo's identity that he considers himself a non-person, useless and discardable without it. Case in point:
" This was the fall when the pretty useless Kim Rok Soo was the most useless in his life." —Chapter 555 "Pretty Useless Bastard (1)"
It gives him purpose in a world without laws, gives him value. Though our first explicit mention of Record is like chapter 300ish in the novel (during the Mercenary King's Records Arc I believe), we still see snippets of how deeply it influences him and his actions throughout the novel.
The eidetic memory he has of The Birth of A Hero, down to the most useless (self-admitted) like the backstories of the ancient powers and literal descriptions of geography (that 50 paces from the castle walls bit) etc. is one thing. But Kim Rok Soo acts on it willfully, plans for those interventions. It's a testament to his time as a Team Leader, he plans so that he never has to lose ever again.
So initially, I was a little confused why Cale brings up Record so late into the novel. I questioned whether it was out of necessity or simply because he forgot about it. Considering the weight Lee Soo Hyuk and Choi Jung Soo's deaths had on him, I don't think the latter is true. But the former ain't either, because I can think of multiple instances where it could have been useful.
Then I realized, it's because he simply does not need it to survive. In this world, Kim Rok Soo does not need his Abilities to define his self-worth. I'm sure this thought process is subconscious, since he's an awkward and dense little bean (towards his own feelings), but think about it—in his new life, he actively cultivates those around him, while actively defining himself as trash without value. Of course, his family would disagree, but this is still how Cale sees himself.
And strangely, he seems fine with it.
He seems fine with not using Record all the time, planning in a frenzy and accounting for all measures. I think this may be partially because of his trust in his family, but also because it's a testament to him becoming Cale instead of Kim Rok Soo. The past is the past, he continues to live on and becomes Cale in another world, where he doesn't need to be useful to be loved and cherished.
This kind of reflects in his mentality. He picks up On and Hong, justifying his actions by saying that he'll put them to use. Same goes for Choi Han. While it's initially a bit different for Raon, later Cale cackles that he'd use Raon too.
But since this is Cale, this is never just a single-layered statement, it's nuanced. It's a testament to how he sees and prescribes value, potential and affection to each and everyone one of them. Even when Lock is unable to go berserk at a very crucial moment, Cale still prescribes value to him, not as a tool—but as a person. As a child.
Because no one afforded Kim Rok Soo the same grace. Because the world became so fucked up that even if they wanted to, they just couldn't. Survival of the fittest, basically.
Lock doubts his value, but Cale reinforces it. Thinking back on his relationship with Record as the "value" Kim Rok Soo brought to the table (alongside that danged Instant), I think that's very beautiful. The funny thing here is, Cale recognizes how this mentality can be damaging but he only applies it to those around him, never himself.
That earlier quote is literally more than halfway through Part One. Cale is thirty-six, the dad of at least fourteen children, the commander of a kingdom in one world and an important team leader in another— and he still considers himself pretty useless and weak.
I can't pin down the quote right now, but I recall him also saying that "with this ability, even the pretty useless Kim Rok Soo was able to become a little useful." My guy is so emotionally strung he minimizes himself and his value constantly, even when he's a literal team leader.

I've noticed some fans misunderstanding a certain part. When Cale stabbed his heart, everyone outside the temple saw it, but not because of Clopeh or the camera he was holding. If you remember, there was a circle or sphere divided into sections, and each section belonged to one of the people who entered the test. When Cale finished the test, the color that illuminated his section disappeared, and a video of Cale appeared in its place. Clopeh was carrying the cameras with him inside the temple and didn't install them from the outside. So everyone witnessed the stabbing because of the GoD, not Clopeh, as some people think.

Something I initially really liked about Cale's character is how he suddenly became the "trash" of the count's family and he seemingly takes it as an asshole permit.
No manners, rude? Well duh, He's the local trash.
And then, hundreds of chapters later it hit me:
This guy really never changed the way he acted, he says so himself and it's why Choi Han was able to easily recognize him in Choi Jung Soo's memories.
Which begs the question: What sort of internal narrative did he have going on as Kim Rok Soo to "justify" his behavior?
Baby Rok Soo was at the bottom of the social ladder, an orphan, poor and his uncle was an alcoholic and a gambling addict to boot
How many times do you think he heard things like "What can you expect from someone without parents?", or "Just what you would expect from someone who wasn't raised properly"
"Someone of your kind"
And then he became a Team Leader
How many things did he do or didn't do under the pretense of being "Cold-blooded"
It also doesn't help that he's unable to process praise or kindness directed at him.

CURSED CHILD.
「 tcf x child! reader 」
summary : the white star loved his child, he really does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘ OH, GOSH. I HATE MY LIFE. ’
The red-haired child couldn't help but frown as she walked through the hallways of the orphanage. Everyone knew how famous the Sekka family is in the Paerun Kingdom. That's why when the son and the future duke of that family showed an interest in an orphan like her, the whole orphanage became happy.
The little redhead's reddish brown eyes held a glint of annoyance as she looked at her arms that were covered with the sleeves of her clothes. The fact that the young master of the Sekka dukedom is here to visit her again, made the staff of the orphanage buy an expensive-looking dress that'll surely cover her bruises and dress her up. "You better not mess up this time, (name)."
"Yes." The little girl blankly said as they stopped walking. (Name), the girl looked at the huge door in front of her with a stoic expression on her face. "You were lucky that Young Master Clopeh is fond of you."
Fond? Seems like he's obsessed to me.
She deadpanned, watching how the woman in front of her opened the door. Revealing a young man sitting in a wheelchair, elegantly sipping on his tea. Rei could only sigh as she saw how the woman who was supposed to be her caretaker blushed at the sight. And she only blushed even more when Clopeh tucked his white hair behind his ear as his brilliant green eyes met (name)'s reddish-brown ones. (Name) wanted to curse and run away when she saw how Clopeh's face brightened when he saw her.
"(Name)!"
Rei's lips curved onto a bright smile as she walked towards Clopeh while internally telling herself that violence was never an answer. "Hello, sir!" Acting like a child was something that Rei was used to so this was a piece of cake for her. Clopeh smiled fondly as he ruffled (Name)'s hair before looking at the woman behind her, signalling her to leave. And the woman gladly obeyed.
And seeing that her caretaker left. (Name) found herself wishing that the Arm would appear before her and slash her body into two so she could just move on to her next life and make sure to avoid the people who were similar to the guy in front of her. The calm and noble-like aura that Clopeh was radiating earlier completely disappeared. He clasped his hands together and started reciting some kind of prayer before looking at the little redhead with a blush on his face.
This lunatic. (Name) sweatdrop.
The most handsome bachelor in the Paerun Kingdom? A noble knight? The future head of the Sekka household? No. In (name)'s eyes, Clopeh Sekka was a certified lunatic who for some reason started to treat her like some kind of God.
"I brought your favourite cookie with me, (Name)-nim."
Ah fuck, I hate my life.

My dear lord and saviour Cale, I do not deserve to behold your awesomeness. I, a mere mortal, is blessed to look upon thy holy figure whilst you cough up blood. I shall obtain the concrete that your holy blood hath stained and keep it in my family for the rest of time as a priceless heirloom that shall inevitably outlast my existence, just as you shall.
Tumblr media
Absolutely sensational.

One of the 10 million amazing things about reading Trash of the Count's Family is that interactions seem to entirely revolve around this dynamic where it's Cale vs. Everyone Else alternating between having a bunch of floating exclamation/question marks around their heads.
