Tomorrow is already Day 6️⃣ of the #FlyIntoSpring #yogachallenge and the #asana is an airborne Utthan Pristhasana aka flying lizard pose, or Parsva Bhuja Dandasana aka #grasshopperpose. My heart is smiling SO BIG as I scroll through this gallery. As we approach another #armbalance, keep warming up those wrists, but for this pose add some hip openers like Baddha Konasana. πŸ’ͺ🏻 . βœ… Start in standing position, feet shoulder-width apart. Begin to lower, placing one ankle over the opposite knee. I find it helpful to practice this with both legs and twist to additional opening to the hips. . βœ… Keep your ankle firm on the knee as you bring the sole of your foot to your forearm and twist. . . βœ… Place your palms firmly on your mat. Take a deep inhale, and as you exhale lean forward, pushing the sole of your foot into your forearm to keep it from falling. Tomorrow is already Day 5️⃣ of the #FlyIntoSpring #yogachallenge and you’re flying high! πŸ’ͺ🏻 Every post I see inspires me more and more. πŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ . . The #asana is Astavakrasana or #eightanglepose. As with every #armbalance it is important to warmup the wrists and build a strong foundation in the upper arms and shoulders. For the beginners check out variation by @belleyoga.tokyo and @beahappyamy for the advanced. 😍 . . βœ… Start in an upright seated position with both legs extended. Place one leg over the shoulder (see elephant trunk pose in Day 2 ☺️). Lift your bottom leg and lock tops of feet together. I like to place the top foot on top of the other, but do what feels best. Take a deep inhale, and as you exhale, lean forward, extending both legs to the side. I found that the lower I go, the straighter my legs can be. πŸ—½ . . We are now onto any Eka Pada Koundinyasana, the pose dedicated to the Sage Koundinya. πŸ•‰ There are various ways to come into this #asana, so please be sure to check out the beginner variation with @belleyoga.tokyo and advanced with @beahappyamy πŸ’— . . βœ… Start off in downward facing dog. Take a few inhales and exhales to prepare. When ready, begin to lean forward and lower down, similar to Chaturanga Dandasana. Bend one knee and place it on the tricep. Use your core to lift your bum higher and eventually your back leg. If you can, try to extend your front leg and you’re off! πŸ˜„ . . Wow... Tomorrow is Day 8️⃣ and the final day of the #FlyIntoSpring #yogachallenge. My heart is overjoyed by the beautiful and deeply inspiring posts I have seen in this gallery. I bow humbly to all of you for participating, and to my beautiful co-hosts @beahappyamy and @belleyoga.tokyo for bringing such support and inspiration to my #yogapractice. πŸ™‡πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’« Please see their beginner and advanced choices, and have fun! πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ . . The #asana is #yogischoice, so I was playing around with fire crow and other #armbalancing poses until I chose my most challenging today - Parsva Bakasana or #sidecrow in Garudasana or #eaglelegs πŸ¦… . . βœ… There are various ways to come into this #armbalance. If you are already comfortable coming into side crow, while you’re lifted you can try wrapping your legs in eagle. . . βœ… I did this a few times in the past, but actually find it easier to start off in a seated position, wrapping one leg around the other, lifting with the core, the arms, and eventually the legs. πŸ’ͺ🏻 I noticed the ray of sunlight coming through, so I used that as #drishti and a reminder that life is beautiful. πŸŒ…πŸ’•πŸ•‰πŸ—½πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒΏ . . . . Tomorrow we will be onto Day of the #FlyIntoSpring #yogachallenge and I am so inspired by your posts! ☺️ The lifts, the strength... wowza! πŸ’ͺ🏻 . . The #asana is Titthibasana or #firefly pose. To warm up for a trickle #armbalance such as this I practice a few rounds of Surya Namaskar to strengthen my upper body, but definitely check out the beginner variations by @belleyoga.tokyo and @beahappyamy 😍 . . βœ… Start in standing forward fold, stepping the feet wider than the hips, and gently bend the knees. Bring the left shoulder behind the left calf, and the same for the left. Place the hands firmly on the floor. Bend both knees a bit more, and squeeze the inner thighs around the upper arms. Drop your bum, and use the upper arms as the foundation for the pose. Press down firmly with the hands and lightly lift the feet forward. Gaze upward (don’t look down), and you’re a firefly! πŸ˜ƒ . . To prepare for this #asana I warm up my wrists since it’s an #armbalance that carries the upper body. It’s also important to practice hip openers to place one leg over the upper arm.πŸ’ͺ🏻 . βœ… Start in an upright seated position with both legs extended and hands firmly planted on your mat. Inhale, bringing one leg over the shoulder. Breathe. 😁 Begin to engage your core and lean forward, lifting the bum. Hold for five seconds, come back down and try the other side. . . βœ… If the lift is too much, come into the seated position and practice placing the leg on the shoulder. It’s all in the journey. β€οΈπŸ—½πŸ•‰πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒΏ . .
