✨🌞🌕💫🌟🕊🦩 . . According to Patanjali the first part belongs to the body. Now millions of people remain entangled with the first part. Hence Yoga has become synonymous with yoga postures: people standing on their heads and doing all sorts of contortions. That has become synonymous with Yoga. It is not a true Yoga, it is just the preface, the introductory part; and the person who thinks the introduction is the whole book is idiotic. But Patanjali did not warn people. If he had warned people it would have been better. People like Patanjali believe in others' intelligence – which is not there! They trust. Their trust is immense, their trust is as immense as people's stupidity is. They respect people's intelligence. So he did not warn people, but the warning was absolutely necessary: 'Don't get entangled in the physiological part.' A few people, only very few – if a hundred people become interested in yoga then only one person will get out of the physiological entanglement. And that one person will become entangled in the psychological. If a hundred persons are entangled in the psychological then only one person gets out of it...and only when you get out of the mind does the real Yoga begins. The physiological part of yoga will give you great physiological powers; it can make you live a really long, healthy life. But what are you going to do with a long life? If you are idiotic, instead of being idiotic for seventy years you will be idiotic for two hundred years. Inspired by the Pacific ocean in the background and a couple of posts I saw on IG, I decided to attempt this arm balancing. Some time, when you see a pose, you know you can do it. Other time, when you see a pose, you know you can’t do it (yet). That’s when you have to envision yourself in that pose and keep practicing. In this case, for me, it’s the first scenario. Balancing on that gate column was the scariest part. 😖😨 Believe in yourself. Parsva Bhuja Dandasana is not a beginner arm balance; it requires wrists and, core strength, as well as open hips, and intense torsion of the torso. . Perhaps, you won't be able to perform Grasshopper after the first try, but with those simple exercises, you will. I did, look at my stories to see where I was 3 years ago. . 1. Hip opener: double pigeon, if you feel pain at your knees, do not push, try to relax and breathe x10 times. 2. When you feel comfortable enough, twist to the side, and breathe x10 times. 3. Then, bend forward and try to place the foot into the armpit, prayer hands, relax, and breathe x 10 times 4. Afterwards, take the knee of the leg above up, sink the hips towards the floor. Breathe x10 times. 5. Next, extend the leg on the bottom to the side, and slowly deepen into a forward fold. You must feel an intense twist and the hip opening. If you start feeling knee pains, come up a little. Breathe x 10 times 6. Now, the hip opening and the twist start to get really intense. Bend the leg below, place the foot of the opposite leg, safely (be sure to not strain the ankle) near to the knee. Twist to the side, and slide gently the foot into the armpit. Breathe x10 times 7. Then, come to chair pose, place the foot of the leg you are working slightly higher than the knee of the opposite leg. Twist to the side and try place the foot into the armpit. Breathe x 10 times 8. After that, place the hands on the floor, the foot as close as possible to the armpit, and shift the body weight forward. 9. Extend the leg below, placed next to the foot, and breathe x5 times. . As we approach another #armbalance, keep warming up those wrists, but for this pose add some hip openers like Baddha Konasana. 💪🏻 . ✅ Start in standing position, feet shoulder-width apart. Begin to lower, placing one ankle over the opposite knee. I find it helpful to practice this with both legs and twist to additional opening to the hips. . ✅ Keep your ankle firm on the knee as you bring the sole of your foot to your forearm and twist. . . ✅ Place your palms firmly on your mat. Take a deep inhale, and as you exhale lean forward, pushing the sole of your foot into your forearm to keep it from falling. Try to extend the bottom leg outward, and you’re a grasshopper! 😄 Hope this helps, and let’s see those flying lizards and grasshoppers! ❤️🗽🕉🧘🏻‍♀️🌿 . .
