Today we had our Graduation Day for students of @letterco_online. [Swipe to see roughly the process of creating a font, from sketch to final working font]. This is the sample project that is developed throughout Letter&Co. The program curriculum focuses on providing the inspiration, information, and techniques you need to create YOUR OWN FONT—all delivered by the best group of instructors. ⠀ ⠀ In case you haven't heard about it yet, Letter&Co. is a multi-week program designed to help you create your first mark in type design, and we (all your instructors, your peers, and myself) are here to support you through Q&A sessions, a 24/7 discussion board, and type crits. These are roughly the steps we'll follow:⠀ ✔️finding inspiration for your font.⠀ ✔️brainstorming ideas through sketching techniques.⠀ ✔️developing a prototype word by hand.⠀ ✔️digitising your letter forms.⠀ ✔️editing your font with a font editor.⠀ ✔️spacing and kerning your font.⠀ ✔️publishing and marketing your font.⠀ ⠀ All these delivered along letter design foundations and plenty of resources. [Swipe to see process pictures of my first font + some baby pictures of myself 😉] Supernova was the first typeface I ever created and this opened a completely new world for me, and even changed my life! Seriously, let me tell you why.⠀ ​⠀ After 10 years of studying and working as a graphic designer—and feeling deeply unmotivated—I moved countries (moved t the Netherlands more precisely) to study type design. That was a tipping point in my life. From that moment on, my skills, my creative possibilities, and my motivation expanded enormously. After creating my first font I felt that there was really no limit to what I could do with letters. ⠀ ​⠀ ​I once said that making a font was an impossible task for me...until I created my first one! I wish I had done that earlier, but I'm mostly glad I just went ahead and did it. There's so much power in taking action and give it a shot to the things you want to do.⠀ ​⠀ ----------------⠀ Just as a reminder, today is the last day to sign up to @letterco_online (my new program in display type design).
