Back to this project we’ve been working on... ever wonder what the inside of an LED retrofitted 1K DLP theater projector looks like inside? Might not look like much at first here in the dark, but the future is coming... So, on to the egghead stuff... Traditionally, these projectors run on a foot-long Xenon lamp @ 3000 W and a lifespan of 2800 hours. After our retrofit, it now projects the same comparable brightness, from a single LED chip @ 300 W (that’s right - 3 hundred, not 3 thousand), lifespan of 10k+ hours (not to mention they are much safer as LEDs don’t have the capacity to explode like Xenon lamps can). This means it can in fact effectively utilize a standard, full size movie theater setup at practically a tenth of the cost it takes to run it with current Xenon lighting tech.
