It’s been a tough day. Not only because your coworker keeps giving you more and more of her work because your bosses have been asking you to stay at work for longer or even extra days. At this point, with this tight schedule you haven’t been able to see Jaehyeong. You even almost forgot how his voice sounded like in real life or how his eyes shined everytime you appeared in his sight. And that made you feel even worse about the whole situation. He has told you plenty of times to set your limits so they cannot exploit you just because you do your work and other’s. But you’re not the type of person to say “no”. It’s like that word doesn’t exist in your vocabulary. Now unfortunately you have to pay the consequences of overworking. “Y/N, I’ll leave some documents I couldn’t finish on your desk, I’m going home.” The voice of your coworker broke the peaceful sound the coffee machine made while preparing your fourth coffee of the day. All you did was check the wall clock that hungged above your heads and nodded, not even looking at her. Once your coffee was ready, you had to go back to work. As soon as you entered your office, your phone screen lit up with a familiar notification sound. “I’m home! Hope you come soon, I’ll make some good food, remember our promise?” The message said. Only then you remember the little promise you made the night before. Jaehyeong was going to finish practice earlier than usual and promised you he would make you your favorite food as long as you finished earlier than usual as well. You felt overwhelmed for a moment. You wanted more than anything else that quality time with the man that owned your heart. And you only had to say “no”.
After a few more minutes of conversation a familiar voice knocks you out of your thoughts once again. “Can you stay a few more hours? Jiwoo’s work need to be finished today.” Your boss said. To be honest, you were tired. Tired of always wanting to go home but not being able to do so because Jiwoo didn’t finish her work. “I have plans.” You said without even thinking what you just said. “But…” Your boss tried to answer but you cut him off. “No buts. It’s Jiwoo’s work, not mine.” You said packing your stuff without looking up. “If it has to be finished today, she should have stayed like I do everyday.” You added getting off your seat and walking towards the door that separated your office from the rest of the building. “I’ll see you on Monday.” You said before leaving the place as your boss and other coworkers looked at you with a surprised gaze. Finally you could feel a huge weight getting off your shoulders.
The walk back home was cold. Hands and nose were freezing tho your ears were warm thanks to the headphones Jaehyeong gifted you a few weeks ago. And not only your ears were getting warm. Your heart was also finally starting to feel warm as you listened to “She’s in the rain”. It never fails to make you feel better whenever you listen to it. (Take some time to enjoy the song before you continue reading)
You finally got home and the strong smell of fresh homemade food filled your body with the feeling of home. And even more feelings appeared as soon as Jaehyeong’s smiling figure appeared leaning on the kitchen door frame. His smile was as bright as light, as sweet as chocolate, as beautiful as a rose and as warm as the sunshine. You couldn’t stop admiring his figure as you walked towards him, hoping to land between his arms and rest your head in the warmth of his chest, near his heart where you belong. His smile grew even wider when his arms wrapped around your small figure. Unfortunately that smile didn’t last long. You could feel the tears falling down your cheeks, getting dried by Jaehyeong’s soft pull over. You tried to stop the tears but you couldn’t. Finally all the stress you’ve been trying to hide was flowing out your body through those tears. “You don’t have to hide your emotions anymore, not in front of me.” Jaehyeong said, tightening his hold, making you hide your face back in the warmth of his heart. “Let it all out… You’ve held it for long enough and I’m here to listen to you.” He added with a low voice, stroking your hair trying to calm you down.
“I have an idea.” He said, a smile appearing back in his lips when you started to feel a bit better. “Let’s go.” He added, grabbing your hand and his guitar. You looked at him confused. “But the dinner…” You tried to say, pointing at the dining room table, full of food. “Food can wait, your health can’t”. He said taking you to the rooftop of your little apartment.
The sky looked beautiful when not much city lights ruined the light stars and the moon had. “How can you know me so well?” You asked Jaehyeong, a small smile threatening to appear in your lips as you still tried to dry some tears that were left running down your cheeks. “Because before dating you, I had to deal with your annoying ass as a best friend.” Jaehyeong joked as he removed the last tear from your cheek with a soft touch, gaining the laugh that was threatening to come out from your mouth.
“Come on, I’ll let you choose the song for today.” He said once you both got warm and comfy in the small tent you had built for when you needed a stargazing session like the one you were about to start. You immediately suggested ‘she’s in the rain’ and as soon as you started to pronounce the title of the song Jaehyeong cut you off. “You always choose the same one! Can’t you just change for once?” He said playfully laughing. “If you don’t want me to choose then don’t ask me to do so!” You said laughing as well. After some discussion on which song he should play, finally you both agreed on him playing “See-saw”.
His voice was soft, low, not really putting much effort but still taking you to heaven, words flowing through his mouth so effortlessly which made you feel even more cozy. The moonlight hit the perfect spots to make his face features stand out. The silverish light hit perfectly his blond locks, creating an elegant silver hair illusion. You couldn’t focus on the sky. The galaxy his dark eyes held was more than enough that you couldn’t have more attention for something else apart from him. Only then you notice it was not the homemade food the one giving you the feeling of home. Actually it was the thought of him being there for you the one that made you feel home, because everywhere and anywhere would feel home as long as you were together. (Take some time to enjoy the song before you continue reading)
Once he finished singing, his slender fingers kept playing the guitar a bit more as you laid your head on his shoulder. The lack of light, his scent, the soft music his guitar was making mixed with the soft vibrations you felt because of him quietly humming to random melodies was lulling you into a deep sleep. A huge smile appeared on his lips when he noticed your almost asleep figure. “You look so beautiful like this. I’m so lucky you decided to say yes when I asked you out in such a shabby way.” He whispered, pretending to think you were fast asleep and couldn’t hear him. You couldn’t help smiling at his confession which made him act all surprised and disappointed because you heard what he said which made you laugh even more. “This is the girl I missed.” He said. His eyes held so much admiration and love whenever he looked at you. It’s always been that way. You guess Dojoon was right every time he said Jaehyeong would always look at you in a very different way. And it was true. You were the only person living on this earth and probably this galaxy that could see that look in his eyes. Full of love and so fond of you. “Promise you won’t overwork anymore.” He said once you both finished your little stargazing date. “We promised to have a happy life together, you can’t get sick already.” He added as you both entered the kitchen, a small tint of sadness in his expression. Seeing him like this broke your heart. “I promise, from now on no more extra hours.” You said with a small smile, offering him your pinky to seal the deal. But he preferred leaning a bit to close the distance between both of you and place a soft yet full of the love he had for you kiss on your cherry lips. “Let’s go, we have to hit up the food if we want to have dinner.” He said with a playful smirk, leaving you wanting more, just like he always loves to do.

unforgivable

Tumblr media
trigger warning; contains scenes that some readers may find mildly disturbing.
hajoon glanced at his partner whose eyes were glued onto his notebook. “hey you’re not wearing your timex today?” he asked woosung, noticing the latter’s untypically bare wrist.
woosung’s hand instinctively gripped his wrist, before he chuckled, “must have forgotten.” hajoon laughed in reply, “you barely ever forget that watch!”
his partner shrugged, “it’s easy to miss things when you’re rushing.” not long after, hajoon turned into a driveway where police cars greeted them left and right.
“detective hajoon, detective woosung,” a police officer familiar to the pair, park dojoon, came up to their car. he offered them a smile, one which the pair returned quickly.
“so what do you have for us, dojoon?” woosung exited the car first. “victim is 24 year old doctor lee jaehyeong. victim died somewhere between 9 last night to 3 this morning. his throat was sliced cleanly,” the officer explained.
hajoon nodded as he followed them up to the apartment. the apartment building seemed rather extravagant, with gorgeous marbled floors and ceilings that resembled an expensive hotel.
“the victim was well to do?” hajoon looked at dojoon. “very,” the latter replied, “his parents are the CEOs of several companies.”
hajoon and woosung exchanged glances. wow, hajoon thought to himself. entering the victim’s apartment, both the forensics team and police officers were already inside, combing the place for anything at all.
“the victim,” dojoon began explaining as he led them to the main hall where the victim lay covered, “was found face down here, fully clothed.”
the pair pulled on a set of gloves and woosung kneeled down to take a closer look. he lifted the cloth, allowing both himself and hajoon to see the open wound across the victim’s neck.
“no signs of a mess anywhere in the house and no sign of a break in,” the officer said as hajoon stood up. “fingerprints? blood spatters?”
dojoon shook his head, “none. it’s like the murdered had cleaned every nook and cranny of this house.”
“the murderer also slit his throat extremely precisely,” woosung sounded, pointing to the near perfect slit that spanned around half the length of his neck.
hajoon nodded, understanding perfectly what his partner meant. “make sure to get any fingerprints or DNA samples that you can find; i want this entire area combed completely,” woosung instructed firmly.
“of course,” dojoon replied before scurrying away. woosung placed the cloth back nicely. “we’re possibly looking at someone the victim knew,” hajoon spoke.
“possibly,” woosung repeated. as they walked to the kitchen, officer dojoon called out to the detectives. “detective woosung! shall we show you what we’ve found so far?”
officer dojoon was in the kitchen with several other officers. “uh yeah… sure,” woosung responded before turning to hajoon, “shall we?”
“you can go ahead. i’ll look around so we can get the job done faster,” hajoon flashed his partner a wink. the latter chuckled, "if you insist.”
as woosung headed to the officers, hajoon found himself standing before the door of the master bedroom. the door creaked ever so slightly when he pushed it open. judging from the folded clothes and made bed, it was apparent that it was the victim’s bedroom.
hajoon looked around; everything seemed completely normal. it was clear there was not a single object out of place. he approached the open cupboard, where a certain jacket had caught his eye.
“kyungsung university, 2016? he was in our batch?” hajoon uttered, seeing the familiar logo of his and woosung’s former university. “don’t recall seeing him around though.”
continuing around the room, he noticed an open notebook. written on the page was a row of monetary values that decreased going down the group. “what’s this?” hajoon uttered to himself.
“did the victim owe someone money?” he said, studying the numbers. “could be the motive for the murder.” as he came closer to the notebook, his foot bumped against something on the floor. hajoon looked down.
a blood stained timex peeked out from under the table. he unassumingly picked it up. in his hand, the silver and black watch stared mockingly back at him. hajoon’s eyes widened when the realization hit him.
this watch…
at that moment, the door behind him creaked. “found something, partner…?”

“dreams are merely a figment of our imagination, right?”
Tumblr media
—featuring; the rose —genre; horror au —number of words; 837
woosung
The first thing that hit him when he opened his eyes, was the stinging cold. The chill pierced through his entire body, suffocating every limb, every bone, every fiber. He shivered ever so slightly, pulling his blanket closer to his chest.
Woosung scanned his surroundings. The bland gray walls of his bedroom, where only a clock and a single photo frame hung, stared right back at him. But tonight he sensed something was off. He could feel the uneasiness creeping up to him like spiders crawling on his skin.
There was a heaviness in the air that accompanied the cold. It felt like the calm before a storm. Like something terrible was coming.
His hands were shaking; he had just noticed. Was the air conditioning on? He wondered. Woosung tried thinking rationally to calm himself. Maybe he had just accidentally switched it on before bed.
He turned to his bedside where the controller sat. Slowly, he reached out his trembling hand to grab the controller. But as soon as he touched it, his heart nearly jumped out of his chest when another hand slammed itself down onto his.
Woosung screamed.
He jolted straight up, trying to catch his breath. The perspiration on his temples dripped down to his shirt, which was already drenched in sweat. He studied his surroundings. His bedroom was quiet and calm; perfectly normal.
Even the temperature was completely normal. He wiped the sweat on his forehead with the back of his hand. Turning to his bedside, he saw the controller sitting exactly where he had left it just before bed.
...
...
hajoon
Hajoon quietly stepped into the quaint looking cafe. His eyes wandered around, not taking him long to locate the familiar pair of heads. Woosung and Jaehyeong did say they would be at this cafe for brunch.
Dojoon was nowhere to be seen. Probably slept in, Hajoon thought as he ambled over to their table. Approaching them, he could faintly make out parts of their conversation.
"... so cold... felt real... hands were trembling..."
Hajoon found himself frowning at those words. Coming closer, he could now hear exactly what Woosung was saying. "I was about to pick it up when this monstrous hand came out of nowhere and grabbed my hand," Woosung was explaining.
"Then I woke up in cold sweat."
In that moment, Hajoon’s eyes widened in shock. He could feel his heart beginning to beat faster as he hurried up to their table.
"Hyung, that's just─ oh hey, Hajoon," Jaehyeong greeted Hajoon when he appeared beside them. The cheery smile of the former faded when he saw the look on Hajoon’s face.
"That dream," he looked at Woosung, "I had the exact same dream."
...
...
woosung
The three friends walked side by side down the road toward Dojoon’s house. “When did you say you had the dream?” Woosung asked Hajoon. “Three nights ago,” he responded.
Hajoon had only just recovered from a flu, and cited that as the reason he hadn’t told them earlier. “And you got it last night?” Jaehyeong looked at Woosung, who nodded in return.
“I can’t get it out of my mind,” Woosung shook his head, “those razor sharp claws and the disgustingly rotten flesh of that hand looked like nothing human. And it felt all too real.”
Jaehyeong could feel the hairs on the back of his neck stand when he tried to picture it in his head. Bad decision. “I felt the same,” Hajoon replied as a gust of wind blew past them.
The boy hugged himself in a frail attempt to keep himself warm. But something felt wrong. Maybe it was the storm clouds looming in the near distance, carrying with them that sickeningly dense ambiance.
He hated storms for that exact reason. Though this time it wasn’t just that. There was something else hanging in the air around them. Like a sense of foreboding he just couldn’t shake off.
“Dojoon will just freak out,” Jaehyeong uttered. Their footsteps seemed to be the only sounds in that neighborhood as everyone and everything else retreated for shelter as the storm beckoned.
“We have to ask him if he’s had that dream too,” Hajoon said. “Maybe it was because of that stupid ouija board. We should never have,” a disappointed sigh escaped his lips.
They stopped before Woosung’s house, where Woosung had said he wanted to grab his jacket. “Let’s not talk about that,” he glanced at his friends, “I’ll be right back.” He hurried into the house, ignoring the chills running down his back as he thought about the ouija board.
The house was eerily silent. Nobody was home, he noticed as he made a beeline for his bedroom. He quickly grabbed his jacket, hanging on his bedside. Just as he was about to walk away, something caught his eye.
And in that exact moment, he could have sworn his heart skipped a beat. He stood rooted to the ground, completely frozen in fear. For there, on the bedside table next to the air conditioner controller, were scratch marks.
