synopsis: your boyfriend asks what name you saved his number under in your phone and you reply with just his name.

“so what, when you wanna call me you just type in hanbin?” he asks in absolute disgust, his eyes squinting so much he looks genuinely in pain.

“you’re always at the top of my call list, i don’t have to search,” you answer very literally, hoping it acts as damage control.

“the guy you love the most, and i’m just saved as boring old hanbin?”

“well i wouldn’t call you boring…” you tease, earning a scoff, a head shake and even more of a squint.

“change it before i do it for you,” he demands in a teasing way, but you don’t mind following this order. “i can’t believe you’ve lived like this for 2 months.”

you barely hear him continue to talk, too busy concentrating on picking the perfect name that you know he’ll absolutely hate as payback for making a big deal out of it. “there,” you hold the phone out in front of his face.

“jelly,” he reads out, “and a blue heart,” he contemplates it for a moment. you furrow your brows at how long it’s taking for him to start complaining. “i like it, kinda goes well with mine too, sweetie”

“full name? like how you’d save the window cleaner?” he blurted out in a moment of disbelief.

you side eyed your boyfriend who’s only reaction was to cross his arms. “do you know how much my friends would tease me if i had anything but your name?”

“that’s doesn’t make it any better,” he calmed down, slipping your phone out of your hands and unlocking it with your password. “i’m changing it.”

you watched over his shoulder as he scrolled your contacts. he found “k” and tutted as his eyes landed on his name.

“can i change it?” he asked cutely, completely switching his act from just a few seconds ago. you nodded straight away. “right, i think “baby” will look nice. with a star and a black heart,” he spoke as he typed.

you smiled as you read and listened to your boyfriend muttering to himself. he was absolutely adorable, he’s definitely worth the endless teasing from your friends.

“okay perfect,” he locked your phone and lazily handed it to you, “and you better not change it back.”

“for real?” he asked, his voice and pitch raised in an offended way.

you pull a face as if to suggest it’s not a big deal, “well, it is your name, jeonghyeon…”

jeonghyeon tuts while rolling his eyes, dramatically, sure, but there’s definitely intention behind it. “babe, boyfriend, honey, love,” he counts on his fingers, “even just jeonghyeonie,” he pulls out his phone, “all things that you’ve called me but noooo.”

you smile at his cuteness, which made him even more riled. “what’s mine saved as?”

“my darling,” he admits, pulling up your contact info and placing it on the table in front of you, donning a pout until you look at him again. “but i can change it to just y/n, no problem.” you look back at his phone, the words make you smile and seeing the little blue heart emoji next to them makes your stomach fill with fluttering butterflies . you hated to admit it, but it did feel good to see it. and the thought of him changing it, well you didn’t even want to think about it.

“no, no, it’s fine, you don’t have to do that,” you locked his phone for him and handed it back to him after picking it up from the table.

“so will you change mine?” his pleading eyes were unavoidable, like a puppy you just can’t say no to. you rolled your eyes and back spaced on his contact name, “save me as “my love” please,”” he urged.

“don’t test your luck, jeonghyeon,” you deadpanned, but followed his directions anyway.

“i have you saved as “my sunshine” and you just have my name?!” seungeon laughs out loud, finding the whole situation hilarious.

“wait,” the laughter died down and your face drops, “i’m your sunshine?” you ask, feeling full of love yet so incredibly guilty. “let me change your name right now, you’re too cute, i swear-”

“you don’t have to, i think it’s funny, y/n, you really don’t need to do that!” the palm of his hand covers your phone screen as he speaks.

your fingers move it out of the way gently as you begin to type “angel” into the box. seungeon completely moves his hand once you’ve finished typing and takes a look, you wait to see his reaction, not once taking your eyes off him.

“yeah you definitely should’ve just left it as my name,” he bursts out laughing again, kicking his feet in the air playfully. you look down to check what you’d written. angle. you’d now saved him as angle. “acute or obtuse? actually, i think i wanna be reflex.”

“that’s because i couldn’t see the screen!” you playfully prod seungeon in the arm. “now, let me change it properly this time.”

when he stopped laughing once again, he took the hand you just poked him with in his “please do. i like the name angel.” his smile was playfully adorable, you couldn’t help but tease him.

“who said it was going to be “angel”? it might have been “eagle”… or “bagel”.”

“oh,” yunseo pouts in an unintentionally cute way.

you instantly feel bad and try coming up with an excuse, “that’s just how i saved it when we met, i had no idea we were going to become… us, and i never got around to changing it because i was just used to seeing it like that,” you stumbled over your words as they left your mouth in hurry.

“it’s fine, i’ll just change yours back to your name too, then,” you think he’s joking until he reaches for his phone.

“NO,” you’re both slightly taken aback by the volume of your voice, so much so that yunseo stops in his tracks, “let me change yours right now.”

“really?” he finally breaks into a smile, a warm, familiar feeling running through your chest, “hmm what to?”

“cutie suits you,” you shy away from his eyes, “and how about i add a heart?” yunseo nods his head, adding a content hum as he knows you can’t see him.

the next thing you know, yunseo is hugging you from behind, watching you type. “the white heart, please. and can you add the teddy bear? i think it’s so cute.”

you turn your head slightly to look at him, resting his chin on your shoulder, “but, what am i saved as?”

“my baby. with the cute black cat and white heart. what do you think?”

“that’s so mean,” junghyun’s hand comes to cover his mouth as he laughs in disbelief.

“is it? why? what am i saved as in your phone, hm?”

“key emoji and a purple heart,” he admits with a proud puff of his chest.

“oh i forgot you’re a closeted millennial,” you roll your eyes to your boyfriend, who’s feeling even more offended now. “how about we both change them, then, how does that sound?”

“great,” you both pull your phones out and delete everything in the name box. “i want to be “my honey” please,” he proclaims.

“i was going to say that,” you both look at each other in shock, before laughing. “well, i guess we can both be each other’s honey, but i’m gonna put a puppy emoji and a purple heart next to yours.”

his smile gets brighter, you always know how to make him happy, “the bunny and the yellow heart for you?” he asked, knowing that you’d say yes.

you put your phones together, the two matching nicknames in bold lettering across both the screens, “perfect,” you both say at the same time.

having a steady presence by your side, always. jihoon is your best partner in a sense that you both are equals in the relationships; he's not putting himself above or below you, but stands right beside you, his shoulder brushing yours in a silent 'i'm right next to you, i'm here for you', encouraging you to go ahead and follow your dreams.

(his hands claps yours and you are shy because your palms are all sweaty, but he doesn't care, doesn't let you move your hands away. 'it's worth trying,' he says and you nod, because he's right of course, just like he always is. 'it's better to try and fail than not try at all.'

'my hands are sweaty,' you comment, but he only grips your hands tighter. sighing, you look up, asking in a small voice: 'will you stand next to me? just for a little bit?'

jihoon takes your right hand and presses gentle kiss on your knuckles. 'i'll stand next to you for as long as you want me to.')

jihoon is that practical boyfriend, who doesn't view love as something aerial; no, it's a very real thing for him and as anything real it requires effort to make it work. he's here for the long game, not for the short run; he is more than ready to change something in him if it somehow stops relationships from blooming.

('i don't see you,' you stress out, not having any energy left to shout or make a scene. 'i understand that you are busy but if we both are not going to make time for each other then this thing is not going to work, jihoon, it just won't.'

you are not even angry at this point, just sad. and this sadness fills you up so much that it gets hard to breathe. jihoon sits next to you with a closed off face and you let him overthink it, staying next to him. he cautiously reaches out to you like he's afraid you might slap his hand away; you only smile sadly and let him take your hand in his. your sad smile tugs at his heart and makes him feel even more awful than he already does, but he bears through, knowing he has to make a point here. 'i'm sorry,' he says and you know he means it. 'you are absolutely right and i have no excuse here. i'll make time for us, i promise.'

you sigh. 'i know that work is important-'

'you are more important,' he interrupts, squeezing your hand. 'what we have is more important.' jihoon opens his arms and you fall into them, relishing in his affection. 'i'm so sorry. we won't have talk like this again, i promise.')

he's not exactly 'lovey-dovey' and not big on pda either, but his affection is shown in other ways. jihoon is 'i know your clothing size, your go-to order in any place, your favorite anyone and anything' type of boyfriend and he uses that knowledge very well. his presents and surprises are immaculately crafted for your liking with so much time and effort put into them; he knows you and he'll always try his best for you and he'll go on any lengths to make sure you know it, too.

('oh, our jihoonie hyung is so whipped!' seungkwan hollers and cackles gleefully, when jihoon glares at him. 'but seriously, hyung, how many days you spent preparing all of this? i thought i've seen something like this only in the movies. i never thought you'd be this type of boyfriend, you are so whipped!'

you wrap your arms around jihoon's shoulders, effectively stopping him from going after seungkwan. you kiss both of his red cheeks and smile, looking at him a bit teary-eyed due to the surprise he prepared. 'it's perfect,' you whisper and he softens up, hugging you back. 'thank you.'

he just shakes his head and you know he's about to hit you with his usual 'nothing to thank me for' line, so you quickly tease: 'and? are not gonna say that seungkwan is wrong about you being whipped for me?'

jihoon is blushing, but he shrugs anyway. 'can't say it's wrong when it's right.')

jihoon's love is in those small gestures like blowing on a tea before giving it to you so you won't burn your tongue, quietly putting an umbrella into your bag after checking weather forecast because he knows you always forget to do so, crafting playlists for all types of your moods so you'll have something to listen to from him whenever you want, buying your favorite cookies in bulks and storing them everywhere (his studio, his bedroom, his bag) so you can always have them. jihoon is thinking two steps ahead of your needs, because it's practical and because he loves you.

dating jihoon is like going for a walk in winter - people might think you'll freeze from the seemingly cold weather, but you are dressed up from head to toe in the warmest clothes and wind gently swooshes over cheeks instead of biting into them - it's surprisingly refreshing. jihoon is your partner, he's here to stand next to you through thick and thin, bad and good - he won't drop your hand at the mere sight of the storm, he'll pull you close and mutter 'we'll make it' because there is no other choice for him but to stay with you.

a/n: I AM A VALENTINE’S DAY ANTI NORMALLY but this year idk something changed (jeonghyeon) and i suddenly think it can be quite cute. also i’ve decided to start adding jihoo onto these now <3

⋆ oh he’s PREPARED he’s had reservations made since feb 15th of last year

⋆ he wants to cut up some fruit for your breakfast but you catch him with a huge knife looking a bit helpless so you take over

⋆ “i made you lunch, though, you can’t take that from me!” and it was delicious!!!

⋆ managing to sweet talk his boss to give him the afternoon off, he took you to a couples pottery class

⋆ honestly it was just an afternoon full of love and laughter rather than actual art but you wouldn’t want it any other way

⋆ and for dinner, keita had found a hidden gem only an hour away from your home, he knew you’d like the menu options and the view (even if it was pitch black outside when you got there)

⋆ he’s waiting very patiently for his valentine’s day treat from the minute he wakes up and he thinks everything is a hint

⋆ oh and he LOVESSS his gift, no matter what it is he’s bragging about it to his friends - that’s after the 5 million photos he posted of you on social media

⋆ except the five course, formal meal that he booked for 7pm

⋆ “oh my gosh you look absolutely gorgeous,” he’s basically in tears when he sees you all glammed up

⋆ at that moment, he asks you to turn around and places the most beautiful pendant necklace around your neck before kissing your shoulder and waking you to the car

⋆ well it was going to be just another day for jeonghyeon since you didn’t mention it for a few weeks leading up to it

⋆ he just got you a card and some flowers to be delivered

⋆ but he took a step back like the day before and thought hmm actually there's way more that he could do than just a card and flowers

⋆ given that everywhere is pretty much already all booked up and he can’t get the day off work just like that, he decides he’s gonna cook for you when he gets home and find a way to make the evening as fun as possible

⋆ he leaves you with a short but no less adorable treasure hunt to find your gift (earrings that you’d been looking at for months!), collecting packs of love heart candy on the way

⋆ dinner is… questionable… barely edible even, but it’s the thought that counts

⋆ all morning he acts like he forgot that it’s valentine’s day, even if you bring it up he’s like “oh i thought it was next week”

⋆ but after you eat your breakfast (suspicious that there was some of your favourite cereal left over but you thought nothing of it) you notice a red envelope on your pillow

⋆ before he leaves he lets you know to expect a delivery, he’s ordered for you the most beautiful bouquet of your favourite purple/pink flowers with a cute note reading “i love you berry much, my darling, happy valentine’s day <3”

⋆ when he gets home, he cringes at the memory of writing that but soon gets over it when you kiss him to say thank you

⋆ you decide to go to bed early that night, but neither of you are sleeping, too busy giggling about memories

⋆ oh it’s his day to SHINE (but let’s be real everyday is valentine’s day with yunseo)

⋆ you can absolutely guarantee he’s taking the day off work and he’ll ask if you can do the same too

⋆ you spent your day baking at home together, little cookies in the shape of hearts and brownies with strawberries on top

⋆ it’s no fun without a food fight too, of course you end up covered in flour and chocolate, but he apologises with a very sincere hug and a kiss on the crown of your head

⋆ for dinner, you shared some homemade (from a packet) pasta under candlelight with the brownies and cookies for dessert

⋆ and they made the perfect snack for movie night, cuddled up on the sofa/in bed

⋆ a slight kiss to your forehead, a handwritten letter left on your bedside table and a platter of pancakes for your breakfast, all done by your boyfriend before he left for work

⋆ not to mention an enormous bouquet already in a vase that took up half of your kitchen

⋆ he returned late afternoon, full of apologies that he couldn’t be home today

⋆ “i got us tickets for the cinema tonight, they only had a horror left so we don’t have to go if you don’t want to.”

⋆ but it turned out to be the best purchase of his life because you cling onto him for the whole evening
