Minji’s masterlist
“Behind the scenes of Run Away’s pool scene”
a/n: Feel free to share your thoughts with me. Requests are open! 💚
Tumblr media
“So, you’re scared of water” Minji summed up Soobin’s long explanation as to why he didn’t want to jump in the pool with a few words making the boy nod. “Seems legit. You’re tall as a giraffe though, I doubt this pool is deep enough to make you drown”.
“I know, I’m just nervous” Soobin shrugged, watching carefully as the staff dried Huening Kai who had just done his scene. While they were waiting for their time to shoot, he and the girl walked leisurely around the body of water.
“Well, I’m excited. I haven’t been near a pool in ages, let alone play in one” Giggling, they fell silent for a few seconds, each of them thinking about something random.
Out of a sudden, Minji held onto Soobin’s arm and let her body fall limp towards the water. Her feet on the edge, and the boy who tried desperately to grab onto her being the only things impeding her to fall onto the pool.
“Minji-ah, seriously don’t” The boy groaned a little desperate as he pulled her away from the pool. Beomgyu watched the scene from a few steps away laughing and shouting “I would have dropped her”.
“She’d have to go through hair and make up all over again” The leader rolled his eyes at him and Minji pouted, whining like she’d just witnessed the biggest injustice of the world.
“But we’re jumping into the water anyway,” She said pulling Soobin’s sleeve “It wouldn’t make a difference if I did a quick water test”
“People don’t get wet before going to the pool Minji” He sighed, still pulling her near the staff and pointing at one of them blow-drying Kai’s hair “I’d take us longer. And just like you said, we’re doing that in a few minutes. You can wait”.
“But can she?” Taehyun prompted walking near them, he shrugged when Soobin gave him a tired look “I’m kidding, she can”.
“Yeah, I can” Minji placed her hands on her hips and nodded almost at the same time one of the directors told them to get ready to shoot. Giggling playfully, she punched the leader’s arm “But I don’t have to”.
Following the first instructions, the rest of the members did a few scenes still dry before actually getting to jump inside the pool.
Urging them to play around, the staff started giving ideas like throwing each other into the water and doing different kinds of jumps. Insert here Yeonjun helping Minji backflip onto the pool and her failed attempt of pushing Kai that led both of them to dive in.
Getting a GoPro, Minji was directed to stand on the edge she had previously walked on with Soobin and fall backward into the water. Which she did, throwing a peace sign and smiling as instructed.
“We’re getting one of the big cameras inside, so we can take a few underwater shots. I think just hang around while we get that ready,” The producer told her, getting the small device back, and she nodded, swimming to where the boys were.
“I’ve always wanted to go in the pool with my clothes on as a kid” The water helped her cling onto Taehyun’s back as she chatted away “Though I feel it’s going to be cold once we go out for the last time”
“We have enough towels, so I wouldn’t worry about it,” Soobin spoke, watching the staff bring the gear to the water. Letting go of the younger boy, Minji swam behind him, clinging to the leader instead and poking his shoulders.
“Hey, you’re not nervous anymore” She giggled using her feet to kick Beomgyu standing next to them.
Shrugging, Soobin laughed embarrassed “It’s kind of fun, to be honest. And we’re close to being done anyways, so far I’ve been doing fine, so I guess there’s nothing to worry about”.
“Well, I could stay here for some time longer” Beomgyu chuckled while diving again and the group made a little line as the cameraman approached them.
After they did some shots diving, he left the device underwater for good, and once again, the members were told to just play around for some time.
“Let’s do that thing where you stand with your feet apart, and I swim between your legs,” Minji told Hyuka dragging him closer to the wall and the boy obliged standing still, Beomgyu and Taehyun following them and mimicking his stance making a bigger tunnel for her to go through.
Following their movements, the cameraman made sure the girl was in the center of the shot while she kicked the wall for impulse and paddled between their legs. Resurfacing above the water, Minji smiled triumphantly getting a thumbs up from the man.
“We’re done for now” The director shouted from where he was monitoring and a group of staff members approached the pool stair with fresh towels.
“Unnie, I kind of wanted to stay longer” The girl beamed swimming backward as she watched the boys getting out and the woman laughed at her.
“We need to get you ready for the next scenes,” She said gently waving her towards the border and Yeonjun screamed from further away “Minji, they have snacks”, making the girl turn around and bolt out of the water in the blink of an eye.

Take a Sad Song and Make it Better - Part 2
Batfam Big Bang Day 2 - Sick = Batfam member being taken care of or attacked by an army of motherhens.
Jason makes soup for some ungrateful shits
Part 1
“I hate you.”
“I hate you more.”
“But I hate you little shits most,” Jay says, shouldering the guest bedroom door open roughly,  He slams the tray of soup and crackers on the bedside table between the two coughing, sniffing invalids. “Honestly, what kind of dumb fuck takes a swim in the dead of winter?”
“Screw you, Jason. I wouldn’t call being chained and thrown into the harbor a leisurely swim.” Tim says venomously. But unfortunately, he doesn’t look much of a threat when his lap is blanketed in white tissues. In fact, there might not even be a single space of the bedspread left not covered in the clumped wet balls.
It had been cold. So cold when the thugs shoved them off the boat. The water slammed against their chests like ice. Tim managed to get one breath in before the harbor creeps over his domino mask, his hair and to sucks them under. Tim has five minutes. He can hold his breath for five minutes. Has Damian been trained? How long—
Jay raises both his eyebrows, “Excuse me? This is the thanks I get? I slave all day in the kitchen for yer bony asses and instead of a single thank you, it’s screw you? Ouch, Babybird.” His hands motion grandly to the food tray.
“Must you poison us too, Hood?” Damian stares at the bowls with suspicion. “Have we not suffered enough as it is?”
The infidels had been clumsy, roughly chaining them back to back. A shoddy job. It should have provided loopholes, space from hurried mistakes, but alas they focused enough on limiting the use of their hands. The gang yelled when a new pair of black boots landed on the insufficient sailboat’s deck. The foolish men must have thrown them over as a hopeful distraction for the Bat. But as the metal links dig into Damian’s arms, quickly turning the same temperature as the bay, he knows they were wrong.
“Now why would I do that.” Jay crosses his arms over his chest, looming over first Dami and then Tim. “That’s a waste of food. If I want ya to die, I’d just shoot ya in the head. Save Alfred a grocery trip.”
“Thanks, Jay,” Tim says sarcastically.
“Aw shucks, yer welcome.”
Tim doesn’t bother kicking towards the surface yet. They tossed them in the shallows, this group doesn’t usually care about the efficiency of a kill but the fun of it. From reports, he knows the game is to cruelly toss victims in water only a few feet deeper than their prey. Giving an illusion of hope when they kick, hop, jump from the river bed. Only for them gasp and be helplessly pushed back down by oars or hands. The sadistic game can last for hours...until their playtoy finally loses strength or gives up.
He opens his eyes in the filth of the bay and peers around looking, looking...there!
Steam flows up from the bowls, the aroma quickly fills the room. Tim takes a deep breath, the smell tempting him, while a stomach gives a quiet rumble in the next bed. When neither boy makes a move towards Jason’s generous sacrifice, Jason shifts his weight to his hip and taps his foot with a scowl.
Damn it, he knows his cooking is legit, man.
“What? Wouldja like it to be Dick’s cooking instead?” Both bedridden boys look over to each other for a second, then to Jason, to the tray and back again. Then Tim and Damian frantically struggle as one to escape the sheets to get to the bowls first. “Yeah. That’s what I thought.”
The tension in Jason’s limbs, like they’d notice pffftt, finally eases as the bowls barely stay full for a minute. The moment they’re empty, he gives them a second helping and glares at Tim when he wrinkles his nose at the dish. “This is no time to eat like a bird, princess.”
“But I don’t need–”
“Don’t need nothing, ya need to give yer body the good stuff to fight. And ain’t ya lucky Dick’s off planet? He’d give ya the worst puppy eyes and be all over ya, both of ya for that shitty attitude.”
Damian and Tim shudder. Dick has always won the worst Motherhen award. Always. (Alfred is the sneakiest though.)
Damian puts his spoon down. He is...content, how odd. “I suppose that is a fair point. What I do not understand is how the two of us could be put in the same room, in a mansion such as this, forced to accept each other’s presence against our will during recovery.”
Damian conserves his energy the best he can. Watching the bubbles that escape him, minding his surroundings as his ears go numb. Their bodies jerk against the current as Drake suddenly drags them in the direction of his choosing. His slight height and longer legs give a mild advantage, but Damian does not hinder or fight Drake at a time such as this. Surely Drake has a purpose, a plan if he is as clever as Grayson has repeatedly claimed. He walks carefully backward, mindful not to trip on the debris and garbage littered on the harbor bottom. If they lose their balance, escaping to the surface will be more...difficult. His heel hits something hard and he twists to the best of his ability around Drake, a car!
“Alfred’s orders. He said it’s the perfect way to condense care and meet yer needs more efficiently. The man plays the best vindictive shtick if ya know what I mean.”
“It’s the spite. He needs it to stay alive and old.” Tim adds. He sets his bowl on the tray with a sharp clink.
Two minutes. The old beetle is brown with rust, one broken door floating on its hinges. It’s just what they need, Tim hauls them on the roof of the vehicle and stands on his tiptoes. His head breaks the surface of the water and he takes a greedy gulp of air. Smog has never tasted so sweet.
Then he feels the body lashed to his struggle and squirm violently.
“Robin? What are you–” And he notices it. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees the top of Damian’s head, his wet dark spikes. But that’s it. His face is still submerged.
Fuck.
No. Tim bites his lip, tearing it and moves his arms under the chains for any wiggle room. He sucks in his ribs, not on his watch. Not another Robin dying on his watch. He pulls the boy up an itch up his body, two...and leans over. He hears a wonderful, desperate gasp before his head goes back in the water. Good. That’s fine. He can stay under.
Besides Tim’s got another five minutes.
On the bed somewhere, something buzzes and vibrates. Tim pats the covers awkwardly until he unburies a phone.
It’s 7:30.
He promptly reaches across the bedside table. His fingertips nudging a small orange bottle until it slides and topples over. It rolls closer to the preteen. Success is his. “Meds, Damian. Every four hours remember?”
The younger boy huffs but drops the bottle into his lap, “You as well, Drake. I believe Alfred has synced our medication schedules for this purpose.”
“What purpose?”
“To ensure the other does not conveniently forget.”
“I’ve never done that!”
“I disagree. In fact, shall we pull up the records to call that bluff? I am certain Oracle or Alfred have some sort of accounts on the matter.”
“...No.” Jay guffaws at the cowed expression on Tim’s face. Little do these two know that’s one of his tiny jobs to keep the suckers alive today. Stuff their pills down their throats if necessary. How lucky for them that he just gets to be an extra eye, to watch them like a hawk, to take note of how Damian pops open the bottle and swallow his meds dry. But–
“Drake,” states Damian exasperatedly.
“What?
Jay adds his two cents with a point, “So what about them meds, replacement?”
“Oh.” Tim looks to the side. There’s a long sigh, but finally, the asshat puts down his phone to finally get the good drugs in him. Okay, so it’s a bit of a setup. Replacement ain’t got some pills but the fancy stuff since he’s you know, missing an organ. The IV stand almost leans against the wall, it’s needle already burrowed in the back of Tim’s hand. Tim opens the high-end antibodies and carefully feeds it into a tubing of the hanging IV bag. The dying light reflects off the clear fluid. Jay almost considers helping, since Tim lightly curses, his arm stretched awkwardly above him.
Nah. Replacement...no Babybird got’s this. He’ll get all stiff and offended if Jay steps in.
They watch as Tim’s posture goes lax. His eyes narrow in annoyance but soon he’s going to pass out and there’s nothing he can do about it. Gods, he hopes they don’t watch him sleep again.
They do it with this vindictive glee that he could do without.
Damian sniffs, but nods with approval, “Good. It would be ridiculous if you wasted away after what we had to endure in that last venture.”
There are no stars in Gotham’s sky. Not from what he can see being propped up over Drake’s back in this manner. His chest strains as his lungs finally fill. He could do without the idiotic trembles as his body submits to the cold, yet he’s avoided one death and that shall suffice him for now.
“What took you so long, Red Robin? Did you not notice our difference in heights until the last instance. I swear, that you could become any sort of vigilante is beyond me. But be assured, soon Father will finish and rescue us from this silly predicament.”
There is no answer.
“D-Drake?”
Their bodies bob slightly, Damian thinks of how the dead float.
“DRAKE!”
He rocks, flails until under the water his wrist is squeezed tightly. Oh. Drake is not dead...at least not yet. Father, no Grayson would not be pleased over his incompetent predecessor’s possible demise.
So he focuses on the sailboat and screams one word. “BATMAN!”
Jay looks back and forth between the two and smirks. Feelings, these boys are shit at them, but he bets if he put a gun to them, it would be a fight of who leaps in front of the other first. He puts his money on the demon brat, the jumpy monkey. He remembers how Bruce stormed into the cave, one bird in the crook of his arm, the other over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. How he yelled for Jason to prepare the medi-beds and Alfred taking in the pale skin of the two boys went straight for the emergency heaters.
It had been a rush.
A chance of sepsis is not fun. Neither is dealing with hypothermia with the pint-sized preteen. You would think being closer to hell, or his genetics would keep him warm, but no, Jay had to massage the circulation back into those toes so the kid could keep them.
It had been a close shave.
But they’re Bats. Surviving is what they do.
“Well girls, it’s time for a nap,” he pulls out a book. A real one. Like get these shits some real literature, “And I gotcha the best bedtime story, so shut up and listen.”
“I do not require such frivolous–”
“I said shut yer yap before I suffocate ya with a pillow.” He thumbs open the first page, “There we are, ‘It was a pleasure to burn…’”
Tim graciously gives a wet tissue to Damian to lob at Jason. Damian takes the ammo grateful, continues to take it as Jason proceeds to dodge. And be successful at it. His voice melodious and soothing in its own rough way. Over time, it causes Damian’s throws to be more erratic, wide...slow. It causes Tim’s shoulders to sink deeper into the bedding, a different kind of drowning.
“‘We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?'”
Yeah, Jay thinks he could do that. Be the best botherer in the world.
‘Bout time he got started on it.

Bogi’s dream came true: we visited a coffee farm
Laos probably doesn’t spring to mind when you think of coffee, but it’s the world’s 22nd biggest coffee producer, and coffee is a key part of everyday life - something I was very pleased to see upon arrival. In Luang Prabang and the capital Vientiane there are plenty of swanky coffee shops to choose from, and they all proudly serve Lao coffee. It actually made me think, how it nice it must be to live in a country that grows its own coffee, as opposed to having to import it, which obviously makes your cuppa more expensive and a lot worse for the environment. The lucky Lao!
Coffee is one of the very few things the Lao can thank the French for. As colonisers go, the French were rather useless: they built no infrastructure, no schools, they simply invaded Laos because it’s wedged between strategically more important countries they also wanted to invade. That aside, the clever French figured that the Bolaven Plateau in Southern Laos, with its volcanic soil and hot climate, is ideal for growing coffee plant. Merci guys.
I first read about Mr Khamsone’s coffee farm tour on a blog as we were researching Laos (because, quite frankly, we knew very little about the country). With great skill, I managed to convince MJ to come back to Laos after travelling through the North of Vietnam - not knowing that this will manifest in a gruelling, 24 hour journey that would see us being dropped off a sleeper bus at 4:30 am at some unattractive town’s Soviet-inspired bus station, then standing on the side of a road in hope of being picked up by another bus that would actually take us to Laos.
It’s gonna be worth it, when we get there! - I kept saying to the man who can’t even drink coffee.
Anyway, we made it back to Laos, and the next day we were on our way to a village called Paksong, to meet Mr Khamsone. He said he’d pick us up in his jeep to take us to his coffee farm - and so he did, rocking up at our meeting point like some bad ass chauffeur in what turned out to be a 70 year old Chinese jeep. Despite its appearance (think WWII tank) it did a pretty good job at tackling the infamous Laos ‘roads’. We were given huge plastic bags and medical masks (always a good sign when getting into a random person’s car) to protect our bags and lungs from ‘The Dust’. The beauty of this part of the world is that you’ve got 2 options: in dry season it’s the omnipresent Dust that gets into everything and sticks brilliantly to sweaty skin, or in the rainy season the roads become so muddy that you can’t get anywhere.
Tumblr media
The thoughtful Mr Khamsone’s itinerary really took the sweat and dust situation into consideration, and so our first stop was at a remote waterfall where we could go for a refreshing swim. Then we were taken to another waterfall, this time parking our jeep in the water because, why not. We got into the lake and swam through the cascade of water into a little cave, which turned out to be more challenging than we’d thought: the sheer power of the water creates a strong ‘wind’ that pushes you away, and the closer you get, the louder it becomes.
Tumblr media
After all the aquatic fun, we drove to a nearby village where literally everyone makes a living from coffee. This time of the year is great for visiting as we could see the various parts of the process all around the village: freshly picked coffee berries were laid out to dry in the sun; some people were operating a rather DIY looking machine getting the dried skin off the beans, others were sitting on the ground sorting through bags of green beans and categorising them, hand-picking the best ones and discarding the ones that have even a tiny bit of defect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Walking through the village, the labour intensive nature of growing coffee really hit us: you realise how much work goes into a single cup of coffee, how many hands touch the humble bean before it even gets sold to roasters, and then to coffee shops. When your barista hands you your £2.50 flat white in a painfully cool cafe in Central London (like I used to do), you don’t think of the farmers growing the beans, whose name might be mentioned somewhere, but you’re even less likely to think of the dozens of anonymous workers who nurtured, picked, processed and selected the beans so that you can face the day and the numerous pointless meetings you’ll have. And I guess that’s fine - as long as these people are paid and treated fairly.
Tumblr media
In this part of Laos, both Robusta and Arabica varieties are grown. The cheaper and stronger Robusta tends to stay in Laos and is consumed by the locals, while the more expensive and high maintenance Arabica is exported, mainly to the neighbouring countries. There’s more money in Arabica but it also needs a lot more care and attention, so it’s a bit riskier. Mr Khamsone tells us how in 2014 he lost a lot of money when 6 hectares of his coffee farm was hit by frost. Since then, all his coffee plants are grown in the shade, protecting them from extreme temperatures.
After a delicious home made lunch at Mr Khamsone’s house, we were shown around the coffee farm itself - a much awaited highlight of the day. I’d never been to a coffee farm in my life, in fact, I’d never seen a coffee plant in its natural habitat, so I was well excited. Drinking my post-lunch coffee whilst walking around the plantation where is was grown, it was like Christmas for me.
Tumblr media
The farm itself is truly beautiful. It spreads over 16 hectares on the slope of a small hill. Just like a well-maintained vineyard, the trees are planted in neat rows, each one exactly 2.5 metres from the other. What makes the farm particularly pretty is the acacia trees that are planted purposefully to create a canopy over the coffee plants and protect them from the heat and cold.
I can only imagine how nice it all looks with the berries still on the plants, but the harvest had happened a few weeks ago so it was all just beautiful green.
Tumblr media
After the tour of the plantation and a gentle hike to the hill, we returned to the farm to roast some coffee. At this point I was properly taken back to my dad’s place in Hungary, where he makes his famous (infamous?) palinka, a punchy fruit brandy many of my friends are familiar with. He distills them from various fruits in the back of his garden, and whilst the process is 100% legit and he knows what he’s doing, it does look a bit home-made. No fancy equipment or sterile labs, just basic tools and a lot of expertise.
Tumblr media
Standing in Mr Khamsone’s back yard in rural Laos, I got a sense of admiration - in the middle of nowhere, this guy has built himself a coffee roasting machine. It’s a clever piece of Lao engineering: a massive metal drum rotated above a grill that is fuelled by gas from a canister. I got to contribute to the process by expertly managing the handle that rotates the drum.
In a more professional environment you’d time the roasting and you’d have a little window allowing you to see how the beans are doing in there, but Mr Khamsone is a man who doesn’t need all that fancy tech. He knows when his coffee is ready by the smell alone.
Tumblr media
He explained the different phases of roasting to us: first it smells like popcorn, then in 5-10 minutes it’s like a bakery, then chocolate, and finally, at about 15 minutes, it smells like what it is: freshly roasted coffee.
Opening the roasting drum, it again felt like Christmas Day. The beans were now dark brown, shiny, slightly smaller than before, and they smelt amazing. Sadly we couldn’t try them as they needed to rest and release some CO2 for a few days. But we did get a bag of beans roasted a couple of days before, to take with us.
Tumblr media
Before we finished our tour and headed back to Paksong, we walked through another part of the village and chatted about Mr Khamsone’s plans. He wants to build couple of bungalows above his farm, on top of the hill, so his guests can enjoy the amazing view. He even talks about a yoga retreat. While he’s happy to see more tourists visiting his farm and the area, he’s strongly against tour agencies bringing in big groups of tourists. We totally understand why he’s keen to keep his tour small scale and intimate.
Tumblr media
We feel lucky to have had such an authentic experience, and got a glimpse of how some Laos farmers and rural people live their lives. From a tourism point of view, Laos is still less popular than its neighbours (being landlocked sucks! Take it from a Hungarian) but there’s so much to see and experience there, and the people are absolutely amazing; one of the friendliest, most relaxed people we’ve met. We feel that as a country still recovering from a devastating war that saw the US bombing it for 9 years, Laos deserves the attention of the world. So if you ever get a chance to visit this part of Asia, give Laos a chance.
Or just look out for Lao coffee in your local coffee shop.

I was tagged
by the wonderful user @peaceful-waldeinsamkeit (thanks for the tag! :D)
Rules: Answer all the questions, then add one of your own, and tag as many people as there are questions
1) Coke or Pepsi?: I feel like I’m the only person who has never had a preference regarding this debate, I like them both
2) Disney or Dreamworks?: That’s tough…………honestly I love them both equally, I can’t decide!!! >3<
3) Coffee or Tea?: COFFEE!!! I drink two cups a day and I’m actually really REALLY moody without it, like honestly, I am a bitch without coffee (ask my brother)
4) Books or Movies?: Books, Hollywood always screws things up imho
5) Windows or Mac?: I’ve never used a Mac sooooo Windows
6) D.C. or Marvel?: I don’t read a lot of comics, but when it comes to movies and show I’ve never really seen any DC ones (besides like…..batman and suicide squad and teen titans which I adore), so although I adore teen titans I have to go with Marvel cuz I’ve seen more from them
7) Xbox or PlayStation?: Don’t play a lot of games, but I’d have to go with Playstation. Gotta love kingdom hearts guys. Plus I just bought a PS4 so I could play FF15 soooooooooooo
8) Dragon age or mass effect?: ……..i’veneverplayedeither…………..I’ve heard they’re good though, would people recommend this??? (cuz I have the PS4 now so I could play them if I wanted I think)
9) Night Owl or Early Riser?: Night owl. If I have nothing to do the next day I’ll stay up til 3 and wake up late in the afternoon
10) Cards or Chess?: I don’t do a lot of either, but I play cards more, and I’m REALLY bad at chess (despite my brother saying I’m really good at chess, which whenever I play I usually have no idea what I’m doing soooooo)
11) Chocolate or Vanilla?: Chocolate. I’m like that guy from Spongebob. I’m the girl that buys those pound-of chocolate bars at Trader Joe’s whenever I get the chance and eats it within a week
12) Vans or Converse? I wear converse literally every day. Even when they get destroyed they’re comfortable!
13) Lavellan, Trevelyan, Cadash, or Adaar?: ………..uh…….gesundheit?
14) Fluff or Angst?: I’m honestly not sure……fluff I guess? it’s cute sometimes, and angst just makes me feel bad
15) Beach or Forest?: atm I’d have to say forest, I did a LOT of hiking when I was in Japan and it was amazing, but whenever I go to the beach anymore I just end up sitting in the sand doing nothing. I don’t really swim anymore
16) Dogs or Cats? Yes
17) Clear Skies or Rain? Clear skies, rain makes me REALLY tired
18) Cooking or Eating Out? I can’t cook, but I also don’t like spending money, so neither I guess? though eating out has the social aspect to it, so if I HAD to pick one I’d say eating out if it was with friends
19) Spicy or Mild Food? Mild, I don’t handle spicy well……
20) Halloween/Samhain or Solstice/Yule/Christmas? THIS IS HALLOWEEN, THIS IS HALLOWEEN (goes off into song)
21) Would You Rather Forever Be A Little Too Cold Or A Little Too Hot?: A little too cold, my thermostat’s usually really low so that’s basically my reality anyways
22) If You Could Have A Superpower What Would It Be?:  I’ve heard legit arguments against this, but despite that, I’d wanna be able to read minds. Not all the time, but in like….a controlled sense. Like read a certain person’s mind at a certain time, but be able to shut it off when I want so I don’t have a stream of incoming thoughts from people. Mostly cuz I’m really bad at being able to tell when someone’s joking about something or picking up on context clues(like REALLY BAD) so that would help a lot, plus I get really paranoid about what people actually think about me (AND IT WOULD HELP WITH MY CURRENT CRUSH SITUATION THAT’S DRIVING ME CRAZY ATM CUZ MY CRUSH EITHER CAN’T MAKE UP HIS GODDAMN MIND OR JUST DOESN’T WANT TO AND IT’S DRIVING ME CRAZY CUZ I CAN’T TELL WHAT HE’S THINKING) I would never actually use it against anyone, I just want it so I can freakin relax for once when it comes to being social
23) Animation or Live Action?: Animation. Bout sums that up
24) Paragon or Renegade?: ……………………..what does that mean? pertaining to what exactly? is this a reference? I’m confused.......
25) Bath or Shower?: Shower, I don’t have time for baths (though I have to say I HAVE been wanting to try bath bombs, they look fun....)
26) Team Cap or Team Iron-Man?: (don’t kill me dad) Iron man. Idk why but something has always bugged me about Captain America’s character, and I love the Iron man movies more than the Captain America ones, so Iron man (SORRY DAD SPARE ME >3<)
27) Fantasy or Sci-Fi?: Fantasy, sci fi doesn’t really catch my interest as much. It does sometimes, but I always end up liking fantasy stories better
28) Do You Have Three or Four Favorite Quotes If So What Are They?: also something I’ve never really thought about……..
Well I can’t remember the exact wording, but I guess my favorite quote would have to be “Growing old is mandatory, growing up isn’t”
And I guess if I’m choosing more than one, my second one would be lyrics from a song by Icon for Hire “You didn’t shoot for the moon just to hit the stars” (from their song “Demons”)
I don’t really have any others though tbh, if I find any others or think of any I’ll edit
29) YouTube or Netflix?: I watch a loooooooooot of markiplier and game grumps, so youtube
30) Harry Potter or Percy Jackson?: YES
31) When Do You Feel Accomplished?: When I complete something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I never feel motivated to do anything anymore, so those moments where I do actually get motivated enough to pick myself up from off my couch and like….draw something, or read something, or play something that I’ve been wanted to for a while, it’s not much but it’s a good feeling
32) Star Wars or Star Trek?: neither (PLEASE DON’T KILL ME)
I’ve never watched Star Trek, and I had a kiiiiiiind of bad experience getting into Star Wars (thing with an ex, nothing really bad, just uncomfortable) so I never really got into it further
33) Paperback Books or Hardcover Books?: Hardcover. They’re just so much nicer! Plus I always end up bending the covers of paperbacks cuz I carelessly pack them when I wanna take them with me places....
34) Fantastic Beasts or Cursed Child?: I haven’t actually read/seen fantastic beasts yet so I can’t answer this. My brother got me the book for Christmas, but I haven’t gotten to reading it yet, and I haven’t had time to watch the movie. I HAVE read Cursed Child though
35) Rock or Pop Music? I’m in a rock band so if I didn’t say rock I’d feel like a heathen
36) What Is The Most Important Thing In Your Life?: musiiiiiiiiiic. it’s been a HUGE part of my life since 4th grade when I first started playing flute/when my dad first gave me fall out boy’s “from under the cork tree”/ green day’s “american idiot”. I went to an arts school for instrumental music and everything!
37) Mountains or Sea/Ocean?: going back to the hiking thing, mountains
38) How Do You Express Yourself?: …………….going back to the motivation thing, I can never bring myself to do the things that would best help me express myself……….I’m awful >3< though I’d have to say either drawing or playing an instrument (lately bass guitar) would be the ways I express myself best when I actually try
39) What’s The First Book/Film That Really Counted To You?: Probably Percy Jackson tbh. It’s the first series I’ve read that I stuck with for as long as I have
40) What’s Your Element (Ar, Water, etc.)?: FIRE!!! I literally wear a bracelet/necklace everyday with the alchemic symbol for fire on them
41) If You Could Travel Anywhere, Where Would You Go?: Either back to Japan (CUZ I FUCKIN LOVE JAPAN OMG) or like……I’d love to go to Paris or Italy tbh
42) If you had any job in the world, what would it be?: My UNREALISTIC dream job is to be in a famous band as the bassist, I love just being able to play with my friends and if I could make a living off of that, that would be amazing
My REALISTIC dream job is to teach Japanese.  I’ve always loved the idea of being a teacher, but I never knew for what subject, but when I started college I knew I wanted to teach foreign language. I started with french, but I ended up switching to japanese cuz i had more of a passion/interest in it.
43) If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?
1. WORLD FUCKING PEACE I MEAN SERIOUSLY HOW FUCKING HARD IS THAT
2. a bit selfish here, but for me to have enough resources to be able to live comfortably
3. for everyone else to be able to do so as well
44) If You Had To Eat One Food For The Rest Of Your Life, What Would It Be?: Literally any kind of pasta. That’s all I ate as a kid and I still freaking love it
45) What’s Your Spirit Animal/Patronus?: According to Pottermore, my patronus is a black mamba
I REALLY DO BELONG IN SLYTHERIN!!!!
46) Would You Kill Yourself And Save Your Friends or Kill Your Friends and Save Yourself?: Uhhhh probably myself to save my friends, that’d be fine
47) If You Had To Become A Mythical Creature Which Would You Be? Now THIS I’ve definitely never thought of……um……I meaaaaaaaaan……I guess if I HAD to choose I’d go with elf probably. That’d be cool
NEW! 48) If you could have one thing in the world right now, what would it be?
I don’t actually know/follow 48 people, so I’m just gonna tag people that I know well IRL (you guys don’t actually have to do it if you don’t want ^^;;;;;)

I'm not saying that I'm living the best period of my life just yet pero having a wonderful girlfriend and the career that I almost really wanted makes it really tempting to say so. The reason lang talaga na hindi is because I'm pretty sure na there are much better days ahead (not being nega sa current). And with that kind of mix, I'm now able to go to places.
This year, we decided to have a trip out of town just before the rainy season has begun and at first, we decided on Batangas pero since fully-booked na halos ung decent ones (maganda yet affordable), nauwi kami with Bataan.
After hours and hours of canvassing, dun lang din pala kami babagsak sa isa sa mga nauna ko na icheck na beach resorts. It's Brisa Marina Beachfront Resort. We spent 4000 pesos and that includes the room that overlooks the beach and an infinity pool (which really is just perfect since your room, no matter how cheap or expensive has that an amazing view of the sea or.. ocean?) and a breakfast which ehh.. di nakakatuwa. It's a choice of only either Longsilog or Tocilog for the meal and free coffee for the drinks. The taste is just average while the amount is well, panglaman-tiyan. Was expecting a buffet sana much like what I've tried back at Ace Water Spa (damn, ang sarap talaga don) but instead nga, we're treated to something.. simple. Pasado pa sana if marami-rami ung serving such as may side dish pero wala eh. Naghahanap pa nga rin ako ng hot choco non since I no longer drink coffee but since waley, tubig-tubig nalang.
The reason why I overlooked this resort at first is because kala namin expensive. Judging by the same-priced ones kasi around the area, di mo talaga aakalain. Yung sa iba kasi, simple af lang na beachside. Para bang no budget or thought ung management na gawing picturesque ung place then ung rooms, para ka lang nasa cheap na motel around Manila.
Speaking of rooms, the one included sa 4k is just a small one pero may frontal view, from the bed, ng beach. Oh and, may balcony ha. Bawi sa size ng space sa room. However, syempre, may mga downsides din. May large mirror sa room pero lacking naman sa restroom. The restroom is clean and decent pero plain and small as well. There's hot and cold shower and may bidet as well. Yung water, overflowing naman (so no problem as well when you need to flush a big one) kaso frustratingly, it tastes salty. It's as if di na nagwowork that good yung filtration system. Bearable naman. It still seems clean pero tasting something salty while taking a shower is just bothering. There's a "cable" TV that's in fairness, a legit one pero I'd rather not say it is kasi sa sobrang limited ng channels sa subscription nila with Cignal, there's not even a single cable cartoon channel (bye, SpongeBob) nor HBO, etc. The television isn't big nor is in high-definition too. I kind of looked forward for this one pa naman since yun, yung cable, yung lacking during my Zambales trip. The design of the room is standard -- only with a subtle cues of a beach-y vibe but one in particular really caught my attention. Overhead the bed are patches of windows that serve as this kind of openness and lighting design which can be actually nice especially during nighttime. Kaso being able to have something open like that without an option to cover it up can be bothersome if it's privacy we're talking about. Thankfully, after we tried peeking through those patches of windows from the outside, wala naman ng kita since may third floor din yung room and the angle from the ground floor towards the windows makes it actually impossible pala talaga to see anything.
The food and the room. What about the experience you'd get from going to somewhere that far? Well, it's nice naman. The view is spectacular. The waves are already rough during this season pero you'd still be able to swim a few inches from the shoreline (as long as it's deemed to be by the lifeguards). The two swimming pools are small pero it's a-okay naman as long as di ganon kacrowded. It's clean althroughout the resort kaso nga lang, may mga dirt which I think are sand that's from the beach at the bottom of one of the swimming pools we've tried. Di naman sa kadiri pero sana by taking extra measures for the guests to unavoidably wash their feet before going to the rest of the resort from the beach will eliminate this kind of mess. Para lang bang yung puddle of water along the steps of the stairs or miski kahit signage nga lang. Wala kasi gaano eh. May iniwan lang silang tabo, balde, at hose. Eh alam natin na di lahat ng tao eh that diligent. May water activities sila pero given the season, di na namin inexpect na magtry. Mga snorkeling, island hopping at inflatables man. Yung bar above the newer buildings, we didn't know exist. Yung spa, di namin naitanong.. di bali, sa susunod talaga!
Lastly, getting there and the sulit factor of the whole experience. Hmm, it actually is. Biyahe namin is from Cubao to Olongapo via Victory Liner bus. Olongapo to Morong via jeep at the terminal in Harbor Point. And a trike from Nagbalayong, Morong to the resort. The trip from Cubao to the resort can be as long as over 4 hours (we left Cubao at 4am). Di ko lang alam how we would do if we tried an alternative route or even via roro sa may around Mall of Asia. We chose this one nga lang because it's familiar to us since ito yung same na daan namin nung Zambales trip and we wouldn't worry on our trip home kasi reserved yung bus seats namin. Olongapo to Morong nga lang can be tricky kasi we honestly only knew beforehand na basta sa "terminal" kami bumaba to ride a trike to the resort. It turns out na saying just terminal sa driver ng jeep wouldn't help kasi baka sa Balanga, Bataan pa kayo mapunta. That's so far from where you intended to drop off na. Thankfully nga lang, kahit naconfuse ung natanungan namin sa jeep, she's honest, well-informed, at dun din siya bumaba sa same babaan as ours. Plus, I would like to thank my phone din for loading the name of the bayan the resort is in kahit walang signal. Kung di dahil dun, we wouldn't reach the resort and God knows saan kami pupulitin non. We'd mess our weekend getaway that way. So yes, sulit. As I said earlier in this blog entry, compared sa ibang beach resorts nearby, this one is among the best (Morongstar has more activities you can partake to and sobrang sulit niya once nachempuhan mo yung promo nila but not having nga lang the same luxurious vibe as Brisa's). The food prices are fair enough and masarap naman din (or baka kasi gutom lang kami non and a sinigang during a cold rainy evening is just unbeatable). The staff are friendly and accommodating as well. Look no further then if Bataan din ang next na target niyo for your weekend getaway.
To add lang, to the resort, here's more on how you'd ante up it to be just the best. First, redesign, fix, and differentiate the newer buildings to the old ones. Paying the same price just for you to stay at the older buildings is quite unfair. Mas maganda pa naman sa newer ones since mas open yung buong room (giving it a very instagrammable scenery). But since they literally are with just the same layout, give them both a different look. May unique spots for picture-taking in this one and so are there in the other. And please fix yung red na kubo-ish. Sayang kasi, sira that time na pumunta kami. Di tuloy nakapagpicture doon.
Next is, improve your food in taste and in amount. A choice of buffet sa umpisa palang can be a great asset (make it triple buffets like in La Luz, Laiya in Batangas and mawawalan na ng business yung ibang resorts sa area lol). If not, allow then the bringing of foods inside without a corkage fee. Kahit leave nalang yung fee when it comes to alcoholic beverages. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks lang kasi ang pwede ipasok ng walang babayaran. That.. and yung mga concerns ko sa room.. oh and, between the newer and older buildings, please make a pathway. Di yung bababa pa sa beach or lalabas sa kalsada just to cross. Can save a lot of time din. Wi-Fi! It's fast enough pero it doesn't cover half of the resort. Sayang naman. Be more responsive din pag may nagiinquire. They're you're potential customers, enebe. Natagalan at nahirapan din kasi kami non makapagpareserve.
That's it siguro? With all the requests that I have said, sana ienhance din nila yung Mermaid kind of tone that they want to give the resort by not having generic statues but with just a few of those logos and color scheme around the area.

Log 1324 - Driving and Beach Fun DEILDs and Other Assorted Stories
Created Thursday 13 December 2018 Got a WILD and various non-lucid things to note. Scrap Group 1 At a beach during a windy, cloudy day. Spectator mode. Dragon Ball Z characters appeared, a battle involving Frieza and King Cold vs. Goku and Vegeta. Cold tricks Vegeta into letting his guard down, after which he blasted him head on. But, Vegeta easily resists the attack, then retaliates. Dream 1 - Water Plant Park The visuals were a bit blurred. I was driving to and from an airport at daytime. I'd charge of a teenage girl with blonde hair. Later, we go to a hybrid water plant/water park, going straight to the biggest ride. To get to the top, we had to go up a shifty rope ladder. After a difficult climb, we're given safety instructions by a lifeguard, who happened to be René Balcer. We had to climb yet another set of ladders, this time made of steel. I slip up, and almost fell off the place. The lifeguard grabbed on, frustrated, as if she dealt with this plenty of times before, and both her and the girl helped hoist me back up. After than, we all got on a random discussion on a fictional painting software which supported a likewise made up file extension, '.ZAD'. And then, I had a spontaneous revelation. Dizzy from Guilty Gear was actually real, and happened to unlock the potential of people that believed in her. As further proof, I claimed that the girl, who happened to be Bridgette from the game (despite that character being a dude in-series), was a recipient of such a blessing. Seconds later, I spotted a giant, rustled yellow feather floating down a stream. The others didn't seem as concerned as I was. Don't recall how this ended. Dream 2 - Driving and Beach Fun DEILD Scene 1 - Driving Accident Awareness The visuals were slightly blurred. I was wandering around in a shopping center during daytime. I walk up some steps, when I spot some shady figures hanging around. Indeed, another passerby chased one such hood, shouting of how they'd stolen his wallet. Made some precaution to keep my hands in my pockets. At the parking lots, an unkempt and clearly deranged man in a bicycle was hurling out insults at random. An out-of-place couple took him at face value, and got in an argument. Things looked like they were gonna get ugly. I promptly got in my vehicle and left to home. A minute later, I ended up in a T-section. A BJ's across the street. The left would take me to a long bridge through a bay. Not sure about the right. "Figured" I took a wrong turn; either way but back would take me far from my destination. I tried making a U-turn, but overshot by a large margin. The vehicle suddenly spun out of control. If this went on, I would've certainly plummet into a ditch of briars and sand, possibly even the bay just behind. I calmed down, and realized the absurdity. Cue awareness. Either way, I took a hands-off approach. Whatever happens, happens. Brief awakening. DEILD seconds later. Scene 2 - Flying Dune Ride The visuals were glared. I was riding a vehicle through a hilly beach during a bright blue day. Started semi-aware (I thought I was just having a dreamlet). I race over a mound, to find that I was literally sent flying. Such flight sustained for half a minute before I was forced to the ground. It was a rough landing, but I made it intact. The impact made me realize this was a legit LD. Still, I only repeated as above a few more times before the dream collapsed. DEILD attempt, but I lost awareness. Scene 3 - Big Fowl The visuals were clear. I was walking in a lake-side subtropical forest, a site undisturbed by civilization. Sunlight peeked in from a canopy above. Several astonishingly large fowl were swimming in the water, brown feathered geese, if not swans. A few stepped on land, but were quickly frightened off by my presence. Brief awakening. DEILD. Scene 4 - Insert Lenny Face Here The visuals were glared. I was in a blue void colored as a clear afternoon sky. Soon, I imagined myself as a shrunken figure on a beach. Antics ensued. Nothing more than PG-13, but still... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

bienvenido puerto rico!
we went to Puerto Rico and it was fantastic! I wanted to be sure to document our trip here, so that I can post photos and share memories. We had such a wonderful time; who knew PR was going to be so very lovely?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we arrived February 1 and stayed at the Marriott Stellaris right on Condado beach in San Juan. the trip from the airport to the hotel took all of 7 minutes. I was afraid it was going to be overly touristy - right on the beach on a strip of pretty touristy hot spots. i had spent all of three minutes researching the hotel and San Juan in general before booking our trip. it had come highly recommended and we were so desperate to just get away to somewhere warm and relaxing. i took one look at the photos from the resort and clicked the “reserve” button. all that to say, we hardly knew what to expect.
luckily, the resort was lovely! the staff was so friendly. we had a corner room with a balcony that wrapped around two sides of the room. our beach views from the 17th floor were pretty stellar. every morning we went down to the lobby and got coffee (good coffee, too. clif was delightfully surprised) and sat on the balcony just enjoying the sound of the waves and the humid sea breezes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the beach itself was great, too. it was not overly crowded. the hotel provides chairs and umbrellas free of charge. you didn’t have to worry about reserving them or making sure you got out there early enough to get one. there was plenty to go around. every day around 10AM we headed down to the beach and got set up. it was 85 degrees every day and with the breeze it didn’t ever feel too hot. it was just right; warm enough to want to splash in the ocean a few times a day. the water was warm and the beaches were clean. the waves were huge (there was a red flag warning the entire time we were there but that didn’t stop anyone from swimming)! we definitely got in and played in the waves a few times; getting thrashed around a bit, but all in good fun. lots of saltwater in the cavities, HA! and both Clif and Jen lost their sunglasses to a massive wave that took us all out. it was a ton of fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
speaking of Jen, yes, we met Jen and Matt Jones there. they came a day after we did because of Jen’s work schedule but we still had four nights and three days with them. i highly recommend meeting your best friends at the beach :)
Tumblr media
on one of the days we did a rainforest tour. the rainforest, El Yunque, was about a 40 minute drive from our hotel. we went with a tour group but luckily it was small (only 9 of us) and all the other participants were fun to visit with. the rainforest was gorgeous but there wasn’t a whole lot of wildlife to see on the day that we went. it actually reminded me a lot of the Buffalo River trails, except, you know...in Puerto Rico. at the end was a gorgeous series of waterfalls. we hiked to one of the lower falls that was bigger and less crowded. the water was SO COLD but the guys got in and swam for a bit. on the way back to Condado our tour guide took us to a road-side market for lunch. OMG it was by far the best meal we ate the entire time. rice, beans, all kinds of meats, crab empanadas, plantains, fresh mango smoothies. yeah, it was all kinds of fantastic. we bought a bottle of hot sauce to bring back with us.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
one night we went into Old San Juan, that was really cool. it reminded me a little of Europe, with the narrow cobble-stone streets and winding roads/steep hills. also (not that i’ve ever been, but) it reminded me of something out of a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel set in 19th century Columbia. the houses were just amazing; all open, super tall doors with balconies on every facade. they are all painted bright colors, purples, blues, and greens. it was magical!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in terms of drinks, well...we drank a lot of rum. how could you not when in PR?! every day we had rum and coke, pina coladas, rum punch. the hotel offered lunch and drink service on the beach so waiters would come out and take your order and you could just charge it to your room. it made everything so easy. we quickly fell into a routine of rum & coke with lunch and then a round of pina coladas in the late afternoon. on the last day we bought fresh coconuts off a man selling them on the beach and we poured rum into them. WOW. i have been craving fresh coconut ever since that moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
on the last full day we decided to check out the hotel pool. we had been so enamored by the beach that we never wanted to leave, but the pool was awesome too. it had a swim up bar, a wading pool, a big hot tub and a huge water slide! the slide was a blast - the funny thing was that everyone had lost their sunglasses at some point in the ocean. everyone except me! i was so proud that i’d held onto mine and then on the very last day (at the very end of the day, to boot) i went down this waterslide and lost my sunglasses. we looked at every square inch of the pool and didn’t find them either. it was pretty fitting, actually. puerto rico claimed all of our sunglasses :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Puerto Rico, we loved you so much! I am making a list below of all the restaurants we ate. mostly for my future reference (we definitely plan to go back), but also just in case anyone out there wants to plan a trip to Puerto Rico soon. we HIGHLY recommend it.
Tumblr media
^^^the face of someone who is relaxed, happy and stress-free!!^^^
Tumblr media
^^^san juan had tons of mural walls; this one was just outside of the Jungle Bird bar in the neighborhood of Santurce^^^
Restaurants/Bars/Coffee:
Jose Enrique - for unique twists on classic Puerto Rican food in an unmarked pink house - Santurce neighborhood
Jungle Bird - legit tiki bar for fun drinks - Santurce neighborhood
El Factoria - in Old San Juan, killer drink menu and cool scene, actually three different bars under one roof
El Jibarito - in Old San Juan, straight up Puerto Rican food, no frills
Cocina Abierta - super close to hotel, amazing tapas restaurant
Pinky’s - super close to hotel, tiny restaurant for breakfast
Cuatro Sombras - coffee shop in Old San Juan, they are roasting their own coffee too, we brought some beans back
Orozco’s - for the classic PR dish Mufongo (plantains), in Condado super close to hotel
