I used to think that love came with pain and it was measured by how much you could endure. I didn't know I thought this at the time but I did. It was what I was unintentionally taught to me growing up. It is what I saw, it is what I experienced, it is what I lived with, it is what I endured. This mindset is what I brought into my relationships. And why I allowed things that didn't make sense to me or didn't feel good or right to me. I thought the more you could take meant the more you loved the other person and in return they would love you more. Then I realized I was in an abusive relationship not with someone else but with myself. And that was a part of every relationship I had ever had. So I took and am still taking steps to get out of that mindset. Love is love but love is NOT pain! The two are not mutually exclusive and I am learning that. This isn't 100% original but really few things are. This came to me in a genuine way. I was touching my hair which I've been bleaching on my own lately to get a desired look. The ends have been a bit dry and I've had more shedding than normal but when thinking on it these words came to me and it made clear so many things in my life as of late. I've felt/been lost, I've lost things, people, and at times myself. But I realized that if I am to grow stronger I have to let go of the things/people/places/actions that I no longer need. So I am in that process in the transformation portion of my life. I don't know how long it will take or how long it's been happening for that matter but I am going to do it because I have to.
