Privilege isn't the presence of perks and benefits. It's the absence of obstacles and barriers. That's a lot harder to notice. If someone has a hard time recognizing privileges, they should try focusing on what they don't have to go through. Let that fuel empathy and action. Let that change the world.

Trauma occurs when wounds are unable to heal because someone's entire identity is centered around the fear and anxiety they experienced. They have simply forgotten who they are outside of trauma. This obscurity is terrifying.

Since birth, we have been defined by numbers: inches, feet, pounds, grades, percentages... it doesn't stop. Especially for Chronically Ill and Disabled persons. Now, we are also defined by lab results, temperatures, milliliters, milligrams, grams, beats per minute, etc.
