Each year our Light Up Red campaign raises awareness of the Scottish Poppy Appeal up and down the country, and we know from our Armed Forces community that it means a lot to them to see such a visible show of support and togetherness.

Imagine what the fallen soldiers of WWI and WWII would think seeing all the war going on today in the world? Let's learn from the past and ensure their blood was not shed for nothing 🌺 #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #RemembranceDay2023 #November11 #KendraCutroneBroker...
We honor the fallen heroes who gave their lives for our freedom and peace. We also salute the veterans & active service members who protect our country and values. We wear the poppy with gratitude. #LestWeForget #RemembranceDay #CanadaRemembers 🇨🇦🌺
……. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. 🌺 #lestweforget🌹 #rememberanceday #wewillrememberthem #canada 🇨🇦 (at Ottawa, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck0pQLBrHlA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Cenotaph or ‘empty tomb’ in Greek – has been the focus of the nation's remembrance for a century. The Cenotaph in Whitehall - London was replaced with the permanent Portland stone memorial and unveiled on Armistice Day, 11Th November 1920. The memorial became a central point for all those whose family and friends had died during the First World War with no known grave.
THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD. AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD:
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM, NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
LEST WE FORGET. 🌺
The key event of Remembrance Sunday itself is floral wreaths at the foot of the Cenotaph in Whitehall to remember the fallen. A physical reminder of all those who have served and sacrificed, with British and Commonwealth soldiers, sailors, airmen and women represented, together with members of the emergency services and civilians, ensuring that no one is forgotten.
